Matthew is home..Thanks to your Prayers..
 

Hello All, I want to thank everyone for the good thoughts and prayers.:hug:

Matthew's surgery went great..The surgery lasted 5 1/2 hours..They kept us updated every 30 min. how it was going..He stayed in recovery for 2 hours. I figured he would have some face swelling but he didn't have any swelling at all. He was never in any pain except his back hurt where he had to stay in bed. He hollared for pain meds to ease his back pain.
I didn't count his staples but, he had at least 75 staples in his skull.....On the 2nd day after surgery he started having problems with mobility..He couldn't move his left hand and his left eye was crossed....With either eye shut he was having double vision...He didn't tell us, I just happened to notice his eye.
He got so depressed about everything...He wouldn't talk to anyone..The only time i could get him to talk to me was at night when nobody else was there...
The doctor up his steriods to take down swelling in his brain...By the next morning he could move his hand..It was weak, but it was working... And his eye was getting better...
First thing that morning i ask him how he was feeling he made a fist with his hand and gave me the biggest smile...I could see his spirits lifting back up...
As he got tired his mobility would fade again...
It took a few days of telling him everything would go back to normal before he would believe it....I guess seeing is believing...
He didn't want to eat or drink anything...Which we kept telling him that was doing him no good...He needed to eat and drink something to get stronger....
I finally got to the point i told him i wouldn't eat anything till he did...
I left the room for a while and my husband came and found me and told me matthew said he wanted a pizza and to get me one too.
He ate good... and after that point our matthew was coming back to his old self...They thought he would need physical therapy... but his mobility was comeing back so good he didn't need it...
He has got most of his strength back in his left hand and his eye is working great... He says his eyes are better than they were before... he doesn't need his glasses anymore...He hasn't wore them since he's been home...

The surgery was a sucess and matthew is back to his same humorus self....
We have to get him to slow down all the time....He's even went fishing already....:)

Thank you so much for sharing the wonderful news. We had all been waiting to hear from you and I am so happy that everything went so well. He must be one strong young man. Our prayers have been with you and your family.
