Pcos

Hi everyone.
I came over from Soulcysters; I dont fancy that site much anymore.
Does anyone have pcos? Does atkins help any?

;)

I have PCOS and was specifically told by my specialist to "get on a low-carb diet and stick to it". Yes, this is working very well for me.

There are quite a few of us here with pcos, and finding the low carb way to be very helpful.

There is a area specifically for those with PCOS here Let me see if I can find the link or the group where it is. But I have had many here over the years that swear by the fact of low carb and their kids are from it.

It is under the dieting with obsticals. I do not know who is up there. (near the top of the whole forum) last time I drifted up there there was a gal that keep telling everyone that low carb was unhealthy (that was several years ago). But there is plenty of them there that did low carb

there is many very knowledgeable ladies for PCOS and the problems, I will say for low carb I personally think there is no site better tan this one!!

Yes, I swear by Atkins for PCOS. I have never been medically diaganosed except with one ping pong sized cyst that went away on its own, but self diagnosed. I used to think low-carb was unhealthy too- I called it the Heartattack Diet when my friends ate bags of pork skins with cream cheese crab dip. Then I read about PCOS and low-carb potentially helping. I researched and found that low carb has many health benefits and most people I knew were not doing a healthy low carb.

I tried it and lost almost 50 pounds in a year. I don't know if it was just losing the weight or the effects of low-carb but I felt so much better. Shorter, less painful periods, no weeks and weeks of unexplained bleeding, and much better sex drive. Then we found out that after 9 years, we had a baby on the way. I immediately stopped low carb- even though my midwives reccomended limiting white carbs. At my six week checkup after baby I was back at my pre-pregnancy low weight. But because I was nursing I still did not return to low carb and have now put back on almost all my weight 2 years later. My PCOS symptoms have not returned thankfully, but we are ready to try for baby number 2, so I am trying to get back on low-carb now.

Best wishes on controling your symptoms with low carb.
