Default Excerpts from my new book

I found something I wanted to share with you last night while reading. I thought it was interesting and true. She was talking about the different stages of a woman's life and how our bodies change, our metabolism adjusts as we age. But first she was talking about how to start children off on the right foot with what they learn to eat.

After admitting that globalization has started to affect small children in France with obesity, she also pointed out some differences, some things that aren't quite affecting them as much as American children.

"It also helps that there is not nearly as much variety on television and TV plays a much smaller role in the average French child's life, sparing her the roughly ten thousand food ads the average American child sees annually.Food on television makes one think about eating and gets one's gastric juices flowing, triggers the release of insulin, lowering one's blood sugar, and stimulating food cravings. It's gastronomic pornography"

I thought that was very well put "gastronomic pornography". How many of us have actually even realized that? We see so much food on television all the time that even if we weren't hungry before we suddenly are! Hmm.

This is so true. I can be watching TV and not even thinking of food. Then a junk food commercial comes on and I find myself wanting something. This is when I make myself some more water or coffee and look for a low-carb snack that is mostly protein, and it takes care of the craving. Before Atkins, I'd think I needed Braum's if I saw a Braum's commercial.

That is so true. There is a really good commercial on right now for Burger King -- it's a bunch of guys singing their own version of "I am Man" instead of "I Am Woman" and it's really a well-done commercial.

But since seeing it, all my husband wants is Burger King.
