  • For 40 days and nights................... Starting February 25th (Ash Wednesday).

I was wondering if anyone was planning on giving up something for Lent?

There are a few things I was thinking of giving up, one is diet soda, LC candy bars and cussing (what am I thinking ) Not sure which one I'll pick.

    Any Plans / Idea's ????
  • Not being of a religious persuasion that practices Lent, I'm not giving up any more than I already have I may, however, engage and just a smidge of Mardi Gras debauchary (I'm talking drinking, not flashing!!!)
  • Leenie!

I have been thinking about this too... Usually I give up chocolate and Caffene.. but this year I already have the chocolate gone.. and the Caffiene is my only treat to myself on this WOE... Hmmm..... I am going to have to think about it....
  • Karen,

Thats why I was thinking about Diet Soda, I could drink gallons of the stuff and when I'm craving sweets I usually grab some soda, it helps. Diet soda isn't really good for you either, so I think its gonna be that....... I'm so addicted lol.
  • I'm Baptist, so I've never participated in Lent, but I really like the idea of sacrificing something fo 40 days. I'm a little ignorant about Lent, so please forgive me if this is a stupid question... Does it have to be a food item? Or could it be watching TV or something along those lines?
  • I'm not sure what I'll give up. And to tell the truth I don't remember what I gave up last year.

OH!!!! I could give up sex! Sorry-j/k
  • It can be anything, it doesn't have to be food, it can be yelling at your kids, hubby, neighbors. Flipping people the bird while driving, anything really. Results can be life changing

Its from Ash Wednesday until Easter (when Jesus went into the desert).
  • omg. I remember now!!! I DID give up yelling at my kids last year. Boy was it quiet around here
  • Ooh! Can I tell other people what they need to give up? DH has a real problem with yelling and flipping the bird at other drivers. He claims they're all stupid.

As for me, I'm not much of a yeller or bird-flipper. I am a diet soda junkie, although I don't really drink it all that often. I don't buy it, so it's never at the house. It's just when we go out. I always get multiple refills. That stuff is like crack to me! (Not that I would know like crack is like...) Anyway, MAYBE I could give that up. I'll think on it some more.
  • What is it w/guys and flipping or yelling at other drivers? My hubby does the same thing. And I'm trying to figure out the satisfaction of yelling at someone that can't even hear you. I offered to buy him a megaphone once. lol

I don't drink pop. Maybe I should start so I can give it up? lol
  • LOL - there's an idea, Brenda! Maybe I should give up exercise
  • Brenda drive in NJ for just one day, you'll be flippin w/both hands, eating a lc wrap and putting your makeup on all at the same time, while driving 80 mph
  • I've already given up sugar, pizza , pasta, candy bars, cookies and mixed drinks ....come on guys what's left
I'd give up exceriseing but that wouldn't be a "scarfice" it'd be a pleasure so that wouldn't work.
Guess I'll have to give this idea some more thought?

no thanks. I like my small town living. I hate driving in cities!! The people never get out of my way
