Angry Ketosis/fat Burning Info

Live and learn - Did you know that just because you are in ketosis this does not necessarily mean you are burning stored body fat?

I didn't.....it seems that ketosis signifies that yes, your body is using fat for fuel, instead of glucogen/glucose, BUT this may be the fat you are ingesting on a daily basis (the high fat part of the Atkins diet) and not stored body fat.

I always thought that if the sticks were turning pink, that I was burning body fat - and I guess I was wrong!

So does this mean I don't need to test or buy any more strips? I can usually tell (from metallic taste) when I'm in ketosis and I use the strips as a boost to show I'm burning fat - but maybe that's the olive oil I had with dinner? ...and not the stuff that's been sitting on my hips for awhile!

Oh, how frustrating! Especially when it's been stated pretty bluntly that trying to do low fat and low carb together is not at all a healthy thing. Big heavy sigh!

You have a point star. I think it's important to remember that we can overthink things sometimes. It's definitely good to be informed and get as much info as possible but especially in regards to a controversial topic such as Atkins there is still so much unknown that we can drive ourselves nuts.
