Cool Product Review: Atkins Vanilla Ice Cream

Bought a pint of Atkins Vanilla Ice Cream. Took 2 bites... and put it back in the freezer.

It tasted like Frozen Cool Whip.

The texture was off, the flavor was WAY off, and it was just generally not something I'd waste 3 "net" carbs on.

I have yet to eat the chocolate flavor and am hoping it's better but am not holding out too much hope for it. The vanilla is going in the trash.

I'd rather NOT eat it - and then save up for a special occasion, like my birthday, where I can splurge and eat an entire pint of Haagan Daaz. I'd rather have GOOD ice cream than cake any day of the week!!

I completely agree, Lisa. I've tried the chocolate too and was even less impressed with it. It tasted like someone had frozen a low carb shake and added a little sawdust to it to make it interesting. Blech!

I personally recommend Le Carb frozen dessert. It's good enough that I have to hide it from the husband - and he doesn't do low carb! It comes in about 6 flavors including Chocolate Almond Fudge, Chocolate, Vanilla, Strawberry, Cinnamon, and Lemon.

You can check out their products at www.lecarb.net

They really are devine. I'm not a huge ice cream eater so I can eat it right out of the pint and not get out of control. I think it's about 3 grams per 1/2 cup serving. Where I live it's priced about the same as ben & jerry's or haggen das so it's even affordable!

I thought that Atkins was okay, vanilla and chocolate, but definitly not worth the price. I don't like Atkins bars either (ick).

I find the more I stay away from those items, the less cravings I get for it.
