Default Low carb newbie

I just joined the forum, hello everyone!

I've perused the threads about what constitutes "low carb" for everyone and I've seen a range from 20 net carbs per day all the way up to 150. I've just started, myself, and have tried -so far successfully- to keep it under 100 net carbs per day for two weeks via MyFitnessPal. I don't weigh myself and haven't noticed significant changes in the way clothes fit, so I think I'll need to lower my daily allowance. Maybe to the 50 range? I'm just worried about what the cost will be fruits and veggies-wise. I like meat alright, but if I don't mix things up a bit, I know I'll fail.

Do you have any tips for someone wanting to keep on the lower end of the carb range who still wants to incorporate -some- fruits and veggies for the sake of variety?

Hi there,
WELCOME!!!
You should check the Atkins list of approved foods. It really depends on how you want to approach this. The lower the carb intake the better the weight loss.
Atkins has an Induction phase with only 20 net carbs per day. You can use that, go lower or higher in # of carbs/per day.
There are many low carb veggies. No so much for fruits!
For veggies I use: cucumbers, mushrooms, bell peppers, cabbage, spinach, lettuce, broccoli.
Also, don't forget the fat in your diet! It is essential to losing weight when doing low carb. High protein can be dangerous for kidneys and even turn to glucose if used in excess. High fat is important, keeps you from being hungry and helps you lose weight.
Not my thinking here - I didn't come up with this, just based on research in this field done by pros.
BEST of luck to you!
