too few calories?

How do you keep your calories up? I decided to track my food today and I'm at 806 calories. I haven't felt very hungry today and when I was, I filed up quickly. I don't want to hinder weight loss or hurt myself not eating enough. Day 6 paleo/primal.

Hi, Adding cream, butter, coconut oil, olive oil, avocado, nuts will boost your calories easily.

I find even when my daily "goal" is 1200-1400 that some days I'm only hungry enough for 1000 calories. And then the next day I'm hungry enough to eat up to my 1400 ceiling.

I calculate each day anyway, so I started a 7-day average line in my spreadsheet. Most weeks I'm right around 1300 for my average calories, even with some low days and some higher days.

So I don't worry too much about it.

If you do worry, add a pat of herbed butter to your meat or veg, or eat a spoonful of nut butter, or a bite of cream cheese. They are small things that pack a calorie wallop of healthy fat.

I'm the same as synger. If I'm not very hungry, I don't eat more. There's 75% chance that next day I will be hungrier than usual, so I eat a bit more. I keep track and yep, overall, it averages out to the target I'm aiming for.

Thanks! I keep reading about "starvation mode" and really just annoying myself with it because it starts to overwhelm me. One thing says no such thing another says eat at least this much or you won't lose. Ahhh! I've tracked everything the last few days and consistently coming in at 800-1200 calories. According to myfitnesspal my goal is just over 1800.

Sorry for the thread hijack, but your profile pic looks amazing. :) I was here under another name when you joined the board. Great job.
