One thing I can say about pasta - try spaghetti squash instead. It is DIFFERENT than pasta - but I LOVE it as a substitute, and it is so much healthier!
If you want some recipes or suggestions, message me! I'd love to share more with you. The low carb life style does actually get easy - you just have to get over the initial 'i'm-in-carb/sugar-withdrawal' phase - mine tends to be 2-3 days of complete grouchiness and lethargia. BUT if you can get over that, you're golden!
Good luck!
I hope I responding to this correctly but just wanted to say great post and if you don't mind I would love some recipes. I love to cook and I am always up for a new recipe. So far I been having, eggs, eggs and more eggs lol oh and chicken and lettuce

It is indeed a lifestyle change. I found some terrific recipes in some of the old Suzanne Summers cook books. Personally I love egg whites with mushrooms and sprouts done as an omelet, things like that. You'll get creative but you sure don't have to be deprived.

I've been carb counting for years (for other reasons then weight loss), but in the last year or so I tried doing it to try and keep my hunger in check. And woah, it did work.

Like a couple of earlier posts mentioned, the first week of loss is always huge, but then it steadily tapers of too a more consistent level. What I've found helpful is to work a 6 week cycle, where for the first week I'd do 60g, then go back to around 80/90 for four weeks, then up to 110 for the last, then pack to 60g. For me, it seems to metabolism up high and keep on losing weight higher then, say, a pound a week.

Of course, don't expect to loose induction weight every six weeks, but for me it just helps to keep a higher, more consistent weight loss overall.

Oh, and avocado = low carb heaven. Hate though sometimes they can be up to $3ea where I am!

trade your pasta in for whole wheat pasta! That is good and healthy for you. Also, change up your pasta by adding lots of veggies to it, like zucchini, carrots, onions, spinach, tomatoes, etc. Really yummy!

I am also brand spanking new to low carbing. I'll admit I'm a lot lost (to say a little bit would be lying) but it does seem doable. I am looking forward to how I will feel as well as how I will look once I get this going! These posts are all wonderfully helpful. If there are any other newcomers I'd be happy to band together for support. Thanks for all the great advice from those who are more experienced.

kc82,
I felt the same way you do, I have tried it all weight watchers (lost 12 pounds) I got tired of paying and driving into town for weigh ins. Calorie counting, diet pills, etc. I decided to try low carb when my Aunt had success over the summer. Before I started I looked at what I ate for 1 week and realized I was eating way to many carbs 200 +++++ a day if not 300 +++++, Crazy. I have a hard time getting away from the carbs because I have a 2 boys who love noodles and a husband that does too.

I have been on this diet for awhile and I feel great I exercise 5 days a week.

The hardest thing for me was cooking. Example when I make spagetti now I save a little of the meat sauce before I bake the spagetti. I use the sauce to go over my chicken and then I make a ceasar salad or some steamed veggies. I will say we have breasfast foods alot more for dinner. My boys love breakfast for dinner.

Good luck!
