Back in the saddle again....not too much damage. FBG was 74 this am. So I think I am curing myself of this disease.
It is kind of like it took my body a while to believe that I was really going to do this. And then it said "OK, I will fix your pancreas".
My DH has lost about 15 pounds, 2 inches off his waist, but his morning BG is still pre-diabetic. I told him to just keep hanging on and any minute, his body will say "Ok, I give in, you're cured".
Even though I have not made it to the 140s yet, 150.8 is the closest, I look really different lately. Especially in my shoulders and butt. DH is constantly trying to grab me. What is he going to do when I hit 127.5. I realize this is TMI for you young folks. But you should be please to know that the attraction does not die when you hit the 60s and 70s, even though it probably grosses you out as it does my grown kids. LOL

Doesnt gross me out, after all--you spend all those years working full time jobs and stressed about money, kids, etc and you are expected to have active sex lives then, why would you not expect to have an active sex life when your daily demands die down and you have more relaxing time together?....Let the grabfest begin!!!

I never mentioned this before (I think) but I am very obsessive. In order for me to concentrate on losing weight, I had to forgo working on the business and our websites and just research, cook and track numbers. This really can be a full time job.
Well it is the end of the year and I have a ton of bookkeeping and other work stuff to catch up on. So my posting will be limited. I do not want anyone of you wonderful women to think that I am no longer interested or that I have given up. I just know myself and as soon as I start back into entering months of Quickbook transactions, I will become obsessed with finishing that as well as completing tax returns after the first of the year.
I am not balanced and I can not give any project anything except 150%.
I wish it were different.
PS- I am scared to death that I will gain weight back during this 12 hour a day behind the computer sitting on my butt days.

Very interesting newscast about how high-quality natural fats and meats, fish, eggs and full-fat dairy are nutritionally better for you than fruits (and some vegetables):

I had a friend whose older kids were talking about sex and "old people" and she basically told them that not only do "old" people have sex, but after all those years, we are actually good at it!

I'm in the middle of reading the Amazon sample pages of that speaker's book, The Obesity Epidemic: What Caused It? How Can We Stop It? by Zoe Harcombe.
Extremely thoughtful writing by a Cambridge University-educated nutritionist/obesity researcher who was a former anorexic and bulimic, now recovered through the application of what she learned. Might have to get this one Thanks for the link heads-up!

You're welcome! I used to live in the Berkshires in the late 80's. Very pretty. Cold in winter.

Ohhh,
Can you repost?
I have been falling asleep at 7:30 at night and waking up 7 hours later. I really like my alone time in the morning. Take a scalding hot bubble bath, have a cup of coffee, plan my work day , etc.
I was posting my numbers to livestrong/my plate but not to my spreadsheet so I updated it and feel more in control. I have been also buying Hanukkah presents for my Christian grandkids (they are confused) and I have not balanced my checkbook and do not want to look. I will save that for another day.
I have been eating rather strangely and it is time today for a cleanse... hope I can make it through with water, potassium cleanse and broth till tomorrow. I haven't had anything unprimal just way more carbs than normal. Closer to 100 than 50. Stress of the holidays, I think.
I am going to try to make December a getting into the 140s month. I deserve it!

Hi everyone - I posted some photos on another 3FC thread (that I'm going to take down shortly) but thought I'd show you all what I look like now. Here is the link.
Also -- Gary Taubes has just started a blog. He just has one post up, but it's interesting. Here in the link.

Thanks for posting your photos. You look great! I've added Taubes's blog to my feed reader; double thanks!
--------
I'm back from a vacation where I veered off the primal path. It wasn't a full detour but I had some wheat and several alcoholic drinks each day. By the end of the week, I needed my coffee in the morning rather than just enjoying it, if you know what I mean. I've had two full days back giving my body nourishing primal foods and I'm feeling much better.
One thing I've done to ease the transition back to veggie carbs only is to take L-glutamine (1/2 tsp under the tongue 3 times daily). I read about it on Nora Gedgaudas's blog. Over Christmas, I'll also be experimenting with gymnema sylvestre (suggested in the same blog post) to see if it does cut the taste of sugar for me, making it easier to pass up the sweet goodies.
