Need bday advice for a relative...

Hey everyone! So my Dad and I are working on our weightloss journies together. Personally, I'm a calorie counter, but my Dad is doing Atkins (different stokes for different folks). He's on extended induction (he could be moving up the rungs by now but this is what he's choosing to do).

Anyway... his birthday is this Thursday and I'm wondering what you guys recommend we do in place of the birthday cake. The family is coming over (his mom and siblings). My brother, sister and I all know about his WOE and respect it but the rest of the family tends to be unintentionally unsupportive and try to innocently sabotage (like saying 'it's just one day, be a good sport').

Does anyone have an idea or a recipe that would not totally throw off his WOE but still possibly appease the family? As a side note, our family has alot of creative (and really good) cooks/bakers... so something unconventional is definately welcome.

I'm a real fan of low-carb cheesecake. I've not found a perfect recipe yet, but even the disappointments were pretty darned good.

I'd suggest making a low-carb something for your dad and something else for the rest of the family. Is your dad using artificial sweeteners? If not maybe he'd rather have cheese in place of dessert? There are some really nice cheeses available at better grocery stores and if he's doing induction he might enjoy having them around for several days - tucked into an omelette, sprinkled on a salad, melted as a sauce..
