I'm on a low carb metabolic diet, similar to atkins I think, although dairy, with the exception of cream in you coffee/tea, and fruit isn't allowed in the induction phase. They say you can have 20g of net carbs a day, is it necessary to hit that 20g mark? is it ok to be under?

On Atkins Induction, 20 net carbs per day is recommended. 12-15 of those 20 carbs should be coming from veggies & salads on the acceptable foods list. As I said, 20 net carbs is recommended. Going too low on carbs, especially if you are skimping on the acceptable veggies & salads, really isn't healthy.
