Wow! I want to be on the RED team with Edoetsch! WaaaHOO! Ladee!! What a great month for you! A good start to a GREAT new year!!

Way to go Avezy! One day at a time!

My scale is such a sadist...One day, I'm drowning in my tears... the next day I'm jumping for joy! Down TWO pounds today !!! A two pound loss in one day is not that unusual or me, but now I'm in a new decade! Again, there is no reason that a number like that should affect my mood (or efforts), but it does. Just goes to show you how much the mental aspect of weight loss contributes to success and efforts.

I was DETERMINED to beat the scale yesterday, and kept calories down to 880. 1060 for the week. 1033 for the past month. and 1150 for the past 63 days. Time to change up what I am eating, though. I need to increase protein.

LOL on your scale being a sadist! I don't understand how you can weigh more in the morning. That is so strange! I don't weigh myself at night so I guess I shouldn't say that it is strange because I don't know -- but I don't like the night number so I stay away. I just weight about 5 times in a row in the mornings, LOL.

But regarding your mood, based on the scale. I know just what you mean. It is so annoying. But I have somehow come to realize with this particular diet that my weight IS going to fluctuate up and down. Sort of like two steps forward, one step back. And once a month it will go up several pounds, but if I don't panic and give up, and just stick with the calorie counting, it will then go down about 5 days later. What I keep telling myself is "if I didn't eat extra calories, I didn't REALLY gain that weight, it is just water retention or other retention". Supposedly 3500 is a pounds so unless you really did eat what you burned in a day PLUS 3500 you didn't really gain.

Paisley - I'll try to do an after picture in 2.5 pounds! I did take a few before pix with a selfie the first couple days. I was going to do one every day but once school started, there was no time! I saw a thing on CNN where this lady took a picture every single day and then she put it in a movie and it was so cool, shows her shrinking.

Regarding Super Bowl Parties - remember whatever food is there, it's not like this will be the only time that food will be available in your lifetime. Just tell yourself you can have it later! I got that advice from someone on here several months ago and also in reading "Will Power", which is a little boring in some parts, but I do recommend for the dieting/maintenance advice! But if you choose to have it go over, don't panic! Overeating one day will not make you gain permanently! In fact that's just calorie cyling! In that book, they talk about the "what the h*ll affect" which is a name scientists give to dieters who overeat one day and think they've blown it so they eat WAY more than the original cheating did. That is how I have dieted my whole life until this time. I would eat thousands of extra calories the day before starting a diet too.

PS - not claiming to be an expert in any of this! I'm just trying to pass on what little I have learned.

Have stayed with in calories all but that 1 day and the scale showed a 4.6lb gain this morning! Very disappointed but moving forward.

Sorry, that is very frustrating. I bet it will just show a huge loss next week.

Morning all sorry for being AWOL over the weekend!

I had a ridiculous blow out weekend but to be totally honest it was an awesome weekend and I felt it was worth it.
Haven't assessed the damage to the scale yet but my weekend included: ready meal curry, loads of alcohol, chips at 3am thanks to the alcohol(!) and pizza!!!
But I did have a 4 hour frisbee training on Saturday when went to a high ropes course on Sunday so I will have burnt a tiny bit of it.

I feel happy to just start back today ready to rock.

I will weigh in tomorrow and the damage that caused will probably effect whether I have another blow out again before my birthday in May!!

Time to head to work... Feeling a bit lonely this morning as my boyfriend is away for the week but it means I have more "me time" to get in some extra exercise, gonna a get some weight training done this week!!

K.

This weekend wasn't too bad but I had carbs and salt so I'm still delaying the weigh in. Activity level was terrible, too. I'm 893 cals for today at the moment. I want to have more but not sure what to eat so I'm leaving it alone unless the mood strikes.

I lost 10.3lbs this month BUT my weigh ins have been sporadic. I weighed in on 11th of Dec, then 13th of Jan and haven't weighed in since the 27th.

LilDazed - Well done! 1 piece of bread won't send you over the deep end, don't sweat it!

SeeMyFeet - In TOPS. The bottoms, well, I'm not sure I even want to try on jeans right now. That's why I tend to struggle with the internal weight loss battle. I'm ok with how I look for the most part, DH says I don't need to lose weight but the scale says otherwise. My fat distribution is pretty even, I don't have rolls but have a heavy bone structure & a lot of arm, booty and thighs. My scale is evil, too.

NewKate2014 - I'm glad you gave yourself a chance to enjoy the weekend & you're back at it

edoetsch1 - Woohoo for the 28lbs! Those 4 should disappear in no time.

Avezy44 - Well done

My weekend was a mess also, sorry for not checking in. I think all the sodium has me retaining water, sigh. Time to start again today!

Well....I was good....really good....about 1400cals for sat and sun combined....aaaaaand my scale rewarded me with a 3.5 pound gain this morning. My Monday weigh-ins are typically the highest for the week--then I spend the next 5 days recovering. Eating fewer calories is obviously not the proper fix.....experiment...experiment.....

Unhappy

I keep screwing up on the weekends. I'll stick to my goal during the week and go to gym and everything, and then end up eating like a pig on the weekend, which leaves me so guilty and bloated on Monday when I start eating right again.
Any tips on breaking this cycle? I really need to do well

Haven't been here for a couple of years but I have been lurking for the past couple of weeks and thought I would jump on in. I too, am a calorie counter. I find it the best way to lose weight because you can eat a bigger variety of food as long as you count those calories I also added exercise last November because it really helps boost my metabolism. I have lost 9 lbs. since November and hoping to lose a little more. I hope to be hanging out here a little more if that's ok with everyone. Hope everyone has a great day!

Did great on getting my water in today. I set out (4)16.9oz bottles of water on the counter so they were in view. A good reminder for me to drink them!
