Default Where to start...

I have been doing WW for the last two years, the biggest reason I chose WW was because they had a program for nursing mothers. I am now nursing my 6 month old so it has worked for me but I am finding I have to much freedom and the free fruits and most veggies are a problem too. I find that I am relying on those freebies to much. Even though I stay within my points range the weight just doesn't want to come off. I need it to be just a little more strict. I have decided since CC is the closest thing to WW I want to give it a shot. It's somewhat more familiar to me than any other diet/lifestyle change and that helps me to make the big switch.

My question is, is there a site where I can find out how many cals I should be consuming to lose weight as a nursing mother. I know it will be higher than it would have been if I weren't nursing and I have no idea how to calculate that. Any tips/help is so appreciated.

I am also a nursing mom of a 9 month old and have read not to go below 1800 calories. I just joined 3FC and started my first goal of CC 1800-200 calories per day. So far the pounds r coming off. There is another section on 3FC under dieting with obstacles then select pregnant and nursing.

Also from what I have read nursing requires an extra 300-500 calories.

Thanks, Blue Jeans. I am going to start with 2000 cals as well. I will see how that does for me.

I'm a nursing mother of a 4 month old, and I eat 1800 calories/day and I have been losing 1-2 pounds a week steadily. I think that starting around 2000 is a great idea, then just alter the number as you see fit, depending on weight loss and milk supply.

Also, as you may know, it's VERY important to make sure that you're drinking enough water.

Thank you, Missy Krissy. I decided to try 1800 based on what the amount of cals I was told to eat are to lose 1-2 pounds a week and then adding 500 to that. So far so good, it's working well for me and my supply is doing great. Yes, I know how crucial it is to drink plenty of water when nursing. This is my third baby and I have learned along the way. Luckily for me I drink a ton of water anyway. Sometimes more than a gallon a day. lol
