Love granola, but not the sugar and fat
I adore granola cereal (my favorite is the quaker oats brand, which I haven't had in over a year). I just don't like the fat and sugar that it usually contains. I have been eating various Kashi cereals, which I like. However, since many calorie counters on 3FC mention that they eat granola, I am wondering, what brand of granola do you buy?

I'd be interested in granola recipes too. I've never made my own, but I'd like to try!

I've been buying the Kashi granola. Serving size is 1/2 cup and I usually eat about half that, which takes it down to 110 or 115 cals, depending on the flavor. I also tried using trail mix in my greek yogurt instead of granola and found that it was reeeeelly good (I bought one with dark chocolate and dried cranberries), but it also led to cravings for more, more, more. So Kashi is still my staple.

I make my own. Yes, it's fairly high in calories, but I only have 1/4 cup (about 130 calories) at a time, with berries and plain 1% yogurt. It gives me good, healthy fats in the form of nuts and seeds (I love pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds in mine). When I have that for breakfast, I feel satisfied. If I have toast, almond butter and an apple, I'm hungry again much faster.

I just started making my own granola AND granola bars. I tried to post pics of the granola bars that I made but I guess I don't know how.

This is an awesome idea. I haven't made granola before either but it sounds like a great way to keep some of the processed stuff out of what is supposed to be healthy!

I like Cascadian Farm and Open Nature - they both make honey-nut-ish flavors that I add to my yogurt.

I make it for my kids with variations on this recipe -

I've added flax, chia seeds, honey instead of brown sugar, figs, various dried fruits, different nuts, coconut and coconut oil, quinoa, etc. They love it!

Sounds like there are some great recipes out there! Maybe one of these days I will try one - I am afraid that I will eat an entire batch in one sitting, though!

I don't know about low-cal granola. But I don't mind splurging on it once in awhile since it is delicious and healthy. My sister and I like Udi's original granola. Yum!

I keep intending to make these for my little one, especially for our grab and go mornings - maybe I'll add chia seeds for protein.
