Default eat to live not live to eat

i never thought it would be possible again,,,but i actually just eat to live. i have found alternatives when i get aggravated or depressed. take bath, go walk, color, call a friend, clean, well i find anything but eat, after a while the urge to eat goes away!!!!!!!!!!!1

you know thats funny, i was just thinking about that today- and it's a great feeling. but it's tenets also include indulging sometimes.

if i want to eat something- i do. it's not a derailer, it's not the end of the road. i didn't fail- i enjoyed whatever i ate, and i have no issue telling people about it. it's about achieving a healthy relationship with food!

That's great and I'm glad you posted this because I've been trying to figure out what's changed about me and that's it - I eat to live, I don't live to eat. Sometimes I get a whiff of something really unhealthy and tasty and am a little tempted but, overall, I've come to view food as little more than fuel. =D

Great motto, especially when you get to the point where you can do it.

I don't know, just eating to live would be boring to me. I love tasty food and I live eating it I look forward to mealtimes and I'm always on the lookout for new recipes and ways to make my favorites healthier.

While I agree that finding other ways to unwind is much better than eating, I would find just eating to live quite boring indeed

<<I don't know, just eating to live would be boring to me.>>

Same here. I see no reason why I can't continue to enjoy, look forward to, and experiment with eating while maintaining my weight. Food was designed to be pleasurable, and for some of us the pleasure is well worth keeping, IMO.

I'm firmly in the "love to eat" camp. Food may be fuel, but it's also tasty and enjoyable.

But I also agree that, the more you practice finding other, non-food ways to deal with anxiety/depression/boredom/whatever, the easier it gets.
