OMG! I dont have to starve....imagine that! :)

  • I posted a few days ago that I've been unbelievably tired and swore it had nothing to do with my diet. Hmm, well I think I was wrong. First off, I was eating 1900 calories with not much vigorous exercise ... How in the world could that be too little?? But after reading a post today, I re calculated & found I could eat around 2600 to maintain, then minus 500 to 1000 to lose! Holy cow!!! But I guess .... I'm almost 6 ft tall, close to 250 lbs ... It takes a lot to move this big bod LOL ... So this is good news, unless I'm totally wrong to add more, but I feel much better today. I'm not going to eat 2500 cals though ... But ill shoot for 2070 and see how I feel. Maybe more some days?
  • See how it goes eating a little more. You can adjust up or down whenever you need to, and you don't have to get it right the first time (or the hundred and first time) - you just have to keep trying. Invariably, if I feel utterly lousy, I'm either sick, or not eating enough. Sometimes both!

It may be that you do well on 1900, with a 2100 calorie day every now and then. Or 2100, with a 1900 calorie day now and then. Or something else entirely. Unfortunately, trial and error is pretty much the only way to get something specific.
  • Thanks :-) I like the idea of having a higher or lower day to switch it up.
  • You're not wrong to add more! It's very important to consider how you feel when trying to lose weight. You can get there and feel terrible while you do it or you can get there and feel amazing.

    Personally I'd rather feel amazing

Try this level for a while and see where it takes you. You may need to add or take away depending on your results. The calculators can give you an idea, but they don't take into account your individual metabolism and lifestyle.

Also I envy you tall people. You get to eat so much more than us shorter folks! I mean I know you need more, but still!
  • S- haha, you are too cute! Yes, I guess that's a benefits of being tall LOL! You're right ... I'd much rather feel amazing! And awesome job on your weight loss ... Amazing Such an inspurstion!
  • FatToFitWife - diet smart, not hard
YOU GOT IT. You figured it out. There is no reason to knock ourselves out with too low a food consumption and too much exercise. Its counterproductive. You burn out your metabolism and starve to the point of either giving up or temporarily binging. Good thing you got it. You got this! Go for it.
  • Exactly. Go with what your body needs, not what some calculator tells you. Listen to your body, it knows what it wants.

I agree with PP, smarter not harder!!!
  • What level of "unbelievably tired" are we talking about? It might not be the calories at fault at all, it could be something else. Although eating too little when you're feeling crappy is never useful.
  • Smart choice ever, when you start losing weight you will have to calculate the values again cause it will drop as long as you lose, but is better to eat what you need and feel good.

    Good luck
