Water pills?
I got sick last week and ended up retaining a HUGE amount of water. I have edema. My hands and feet are a bit swollen and I'm 5 pounds up on the scale. It's uncomfortable. Has anyone ever used OTC water pills to help in this situation? Do they work?

I use Midol every month to help with menstrual water weight. I can tell that it makes me have a more urgent need to pee. I usually only take it one time in the morning so I'm not up all night!

I have taken diurex several times, and it didn't even work as well as coffee...If you are not caffein sensitive, I'd say have a couple cups of coffee and see what happens.

Oh, that's true! And if you can't drink caffeine, if you drink large amounts of water that can act as a diuretic too.

so I took a water pill yesterday and i'm down half a pound. Still feel uncomfortably bloated. May take 2 this morning before I go to the gym and see how that goes. The skin on my hands and feet feels all tight and itchy.

I drink copious amounts of water-or green tea to help me go. That seems to work. For example, yesterday I tried a snack food that I've never had before (from across the border) and the first thing I tasted was the salt. I was soooo bloated when I got home. I drank TONS of water and had to go twice during the night, but today I'm much better, not bloated and the same weight I was yesterday before the snack fiasco.

I take diurex on occassion. I've dropped anywhere from 0.5 - 6 pounds depending on how much water I'm retaining. I'd say a normal drop after taking it is like a pound or two though.
I do find that if I take one and don't drop as much as I expected, taking more doesn't help. |
I didn't end up taking another water pill today.. however i've been in the bathroom ALL day. So i'm thinking I may be shedding it. Hope the scale is nice to me in the morning.
