i am so frustrated! i was finally in the 170s on saturday. which was day 1 of tom. 179.2
today, day 3 of tom, i weigh myself and i am 182.6. WTH!! i exercised extra yesterday too.
i know people have said they gain during tom. and i know everyone is different but i'm just wondering what day you gain during tom and how much you typically gain. thanks!
I hate T.O.M. I gain about a day before and then the weight hangs around until about 2 days after. I can gain as much as 6 lbs! from T.O.M. I just stopped weighing myself until a few days after to keep the water weight fluctuations from messing with my head.
For me usually 2-3 pounds on Days 1 and 2! Although I must say before I cleaned up my diet it was sometimes 4 pounds in the week leading up to TOM. Also I am 48 so I have lots of weird things going on in this department - one of the joys of perimenopause I believe! Uck! Hang in there and don't get discouraged. The good news is it usually just drops right back off but those + scale numbers are always frustrating!
Since I gain during ovulation, which isn't exactly time of month, but is sort of presaging it, and hold onto weight during it, I've often wondered when it **isn't** time of month.
I guess that leaves me with 10 good days every 28 days or so before something is about to happen, or happening, or has just happened & I haven't yet recovered from it.

This is me too!! At least I think so. My TOM is so irregular with PCOS it's hard to tell. I'll go 9 months with no TOM and no baby. But when I am losing weight, my cycle is pretty regular after I've lost 5% of my weight. (All this is normal for PCOSers)
But it seems when I am on plan, I drop big poundage about 10 days of the month and hold steady for the rest. It's very frustrating.
For my official WI last Monday I was 166.8. Then TOM came around and for the most part of last week I was up anywhere from 168.2 to 167.1. Then this morning by some miracle I was down .9 lbs to 165.9! My TOM is still here, so my point is that I guess I start gaining about a day before and it goes away about 3-4 days into it. Stay strong, it WILL go away believe me I know how frustrating it can be!

I usually gain 3-4 before I start, and it hangs on pretty much until I finish. So I tend to stay away from my scale during that time. Otherwise I will just want to throw my scale out the window
Its funny. Ive actually lost my period (due to undereating/overtraining) since june. Thats not whats funny. Whats funny is that i STILL bloat up every month, right around what would be *that time*. anywhere from 2-5 pounds. Last monday i was up 8 POUNDS! and it still hasnt all gone down yet! it sucks!
SUN- you totally remind me of me... im STILL freaking out thinking those pounds wont come off... When are they gonna come off !?!?!
For me it varies, I got down to 208 early last week so I thought I am seeing the light 199 is not far. Well for no reason I went back up to 210 on Sat and I have not changed a thing. If anything I have worked harder (got the Biggest Loser Last Chance Workout, Love it) So Mon I started and gained another lb.
This happens all the time for me, usually when I am close to a goal. However if I keep working I can drop the weight I gained + a few more lbs at once, which makes me happy in the end.
I'm old now but when my periods were getting to be quite irregular, I sometimes knew one was coming because I gained 3-4 pounds. At my heaviest (crappy food, sedentary) it could be as much as 7 or 8 pounds in the week leading up and it whooshed away 2-3 days in.
I also gain when I ovulate. Not quite as bad as during my period, but still a gain. So that means on top of the two pounds down one pound up dance my body is doing, twice a month it's three to six pounds up!
I have learned though that the low number I saw WILL return, and will in a month or two be the number that I've gone "up" to. That keeps me encouraged.
thanks girls, you gals made me feel better. i am not weighing in again until saturday. that is when tom is over and i'll be 5 weeks into my diet. can't wait and i'm going to work hard till saturday!!
