Default Avocado Spread

What if anything do you guys add to your avocado when you mush it for a spread on sandwichs. I read a recipe just to put a splash of lemon juice and a little salt. I have heard it's better then using mayo or even mustard, it has healthy fat in it. Does it really taste good?

I always sub avocado when I can- but I just mash it up mostly- sometimes add lemon juice but never salt- if you like avocado then you probably won't feel the need to add salt, or even lemon.

It definitely is GOOD and makes the sandwich not dry

To be honest, I just slice it and put it on a sandwich.

You are correct about them being healthy, plus they are tasty. I love avocados!

I only add lemon juice if I'm not eating the sandwich right away (keeps the avocado green.)

It does if you like avocado! (Ok, that was obvious.) If you like it in other foods, you'll probably like it on sandwiches, even just plain. And if you've never had it, there's only one way to find out.

I ate a lot of avocado for a while and suddenly I just couldn't eat it anymore... I probably haven't eaten any in a year! But I want to try it again, so thanks for reminding me. (To clarify, this is something wrong with ME, not with avocado.. the same thing has happened with other foods.. right now I can't stomach anything made with a significant amount of sesame oil.)

Lime juice is nice too, and a dash of garlic powder (or a chopped up clove, but that takes some extra effort).

A little garlic and lemon juice and sometimes when I'm really wanting something similar to mayo I'd add a tiny (if I have it around) non fat sour cream to make it creamy. Delicious! It's a great dip for homemade whole wheat pita chips too.

My favorite sandwich:

whole wheat or multi grain bread
Avocado
Salt
Lemon Drizzled over
A few shakes of Franks or Crystal Hot sauce.

Nothing more, and nothing less.

I love avocado on my sandwich. However, I've just discovered something more delicious. HUMMUS! Bought some sun dried tomato hummus and spread it all over the bread of a sandwich. Lovely!!! I knew it was for more than just dipping yummy veggies in. I'll be buying some tahini at the store in a few days and mixing up a batch of my own.

I love love love avacado. To make it a little less fattening I put some in a food processor with some peas. It goes a little further and I can have more.
