Default I use flour tortillas for many things, what can I substitute that has less calories?

So, we like to make enchiladas, burritos, and tacos. What has less calories than a 180 calorie flour tortilla that doesn't taste nasty, and you don't have to buy at a special store? Corn tortillas? Use smaller flour tortillas?

Small four tortillas or whole wheat may be good subs. Not sure where you live or what brands you have in your grocery store, but I would just check the calories of some of the smaller and/or whole wheat varieties, I'm sure there is an alternative...

I've switched out flower for corn in most of my recipes.

The brand name we use is Toufayan Bakeries--we get their low-carb low-fat wraps that have 140 calories each. Our local grocery store chain here in Fla. carries them.

I have a hard time with the whole wheat or multi-grain wraps, because they never seem to be soft. At least with corn tortillas, I get great flavor in exchange. But I'm going to try some whole wheat blend tortillas, because I don't want to give them up.

I love the Mission yellow corn tortillas. It's something like 80 calories for two and a ridiculous low number of carbs. They really helped me make it through many days when I just wanted to feel like I was eating some of my favorite old foods. I try to steam them though instead of frying. Even frying isn't too bad if you use canola and not too much. Actually, it's a great way to get in your healthy fats.

Corn tortillas, or the Mission brand has whole wheat and low carb tortillas that are about 80 calories apiece...I eat 'em a LOT.

I use rice paper fresh spring roll wraps sometimes. These aren't the spring rolls you deep fry, they're the fresh, stretchy thai or viatnamese spring rolls. They're flimsy, so they don't work for heavy fillings, but they look a bit like gelatin sheets. You dip them in hot water to soften, and they're soft and chewy (stretchy). They're only about 30 to 35 calories for a 9" circle.

I also use nori sheets, sometimes (but they also bend easily, and have a VERY chewy texture) - and have 15 to 20 calories.

I just like to pile my filings on the plate, add salsa, low fat sour cream and some cheese, i have stopped missing the wraps so much since the whole grain, whole wheat ect just didn't do it for me. Now I do like to use them for sandwich wraps, just not for my favorite mexican foods

.
I love fresh spring rolls. We have some great vietnamese restaurants nearby.

I've switched to using the low carb tortillas. I use corn sometimes, too. I've actually been going without the tortilla and eating things in a big pile on my plate. Tastes just as good to me!

I get whole wheat wraps. One of our local stores carries giant wraps that are 100 calories a piece and come in flavors. Half a giant salsa/pepper tortilla makes a great taco. I microwave them for a few seconds with just a spritz of water before I fold or roll them though to soften them up.

I actually like using leaf lettuce for my wraps. It doesn't work for everything, but for tacos or some other spiced ground turkey and veg mix, they're perfect.

I love Thai lettuce wraps with ground chicken or turkey, seasoned with shallots, garlic, ginger, lime juice and chilies. And some crushed cashews or sesame too. I also add shredded carrots, tomatoes, sprouts. Then pile a healthy spoonful into the lettuce leaf, roll them and enjoy.

Also like cooked lentils (can get them already cooked at Trader Joes), mixed with scallions, tuna, tomatoes, fresh parsley and olives in my wraps as well. I toss them with olive oil and lemon juice, and sometimes add some lemon rind as well.

Hi - weight watcher has whole wheat wraps that are 90 calories each.
Also, like above I use boston (or bib, butter) lettuce leaves that are soft & don't tear.
