Question Question for calorie counters that use a website to count. /Reviews

Do you pay for your membership to a site, if so, which one?
What are you getting for your money?

I really hated, but used free fitday, but that's just IMO. I didn't think it had a good list of foods.

As for myfooddiary, it was really awesome how they gave you daily advise and warnings, happy and sad faces - LOL. It was $9 a month, and really easy to cancel and everything, for some reason though, it was hard on my eyes, the lists and everything.

Now I am using thedailyplate, and I LOVE the many foods they have stored in there already, however, what do you get for the $30 for 6 months??? Does anyone know? Also, was it easy to cancel if you did?

I use http://www.myfitnesspal.com it's free and easy to use and seems to have most of the foods I eat in the database.

I love thedailyplate.com - I just use the free version. Haven't really found any reason to use the paid version.
There are tons and tons of foods already in TDP, I rarely have to enter in anything new.

fiberlover, I know that's what I love about it too...
However with food-diary, you were able a summary of each category and goals. Also, they had this part that said, if everyday was like today, you will reach your goal in...

I used sparkpeople 2 years ago when I was on track. I recently re-logged in and I'm still loving it.

I use fatsecret.com as it has a good database of all popular brands and it's really easy to use + it's free!

I use calorie king however their new layout is kind of annoying, keeps refreshing for no reason. Another thing I don't like is they calculate the calorie difference when you log in your workout for the day, and it keeps telling you that you are below your calorie range if you don't eat back your exercise calories! I emailed the support people and that didn't help at all, they just told me that I have to eat back my workout calories... ugh
I might switch ti thedailyplate since I heard a lot of good reviews about it.

I use DietPower which is PC based software - I travel for work. I always have a laptop with me but do not always have access to the internet.

I am also a member of CalorieKing. I pay for both services. For me the cost is irrelevant if it works.

One thing that at is evident when I hear people rave or complain about what site they use is their expectation of the fooddatabase. I personally prefer to add my own custom foods and overtime don't need to add foods very often. Others feel differently.

I use www.prevention.com, it's free. Sometimes it's hard to find the foods you are looking for, but it allows you to create custom foods that you make. I also like the features like all the tips they give you and it has charts and graphs to track your weight loss. I also like that they give you a virtual model to show you what you will look like at goal and keep you really motivated.

I use DailyPLate and I did become a Gold Member.

There are a few reasons:
1 - I like being able to divide my food into meals and snacks. It helps me keep track of where I'm spending my calories.
2 - I like being able to keep track of my measurements as well as my weight. I do both, although I weigh every day and measure about every 2 weeks.
3 - I've run a website with messageboards and user features and I know it costs a ton of money to maintain - even with advertiser $$. I'm a big believer in giving back if some place has been a benefit. If the owners of the site make a profit - more power to them for coming up with something worthwhile that people like and use.

Which reminds me ... it's time to pay up to 3FC as well.

Photochick - what other differences, is their personalized feedback?

I use everydayhealth.com.

I checked out about 5 others and then decided on it cause I like the layout and because you can choose myspace layouts to customize the look of it.....any background layout you want....you can check mine out by clicking the link in my sig. It's free!

and it has all kinds of progress reports and tools. It's really neat. Check it out.

Personalized feedback? Like from your own nutritionist? No. It's not that kind of a site.
