"Your belly is getting big - are you pregnant?"
Oh...my....gosh. I always get comments on how I'm looking too thin, or look sick, or should gain weight, etc., after losing around 80 pounds. But today took the cake.
There's a guy I know who I consider a friend - ONLY because he's one of those gossipy people I'd rather be close enough to keep an eye on than have against me. Anyway, he's the worst, by far, about telling me how "bad" I'm looking now (and yes, he says worse things about people he doesn't like).
Today he comes in and we're all talking. As we talk, I reach up an start pulling my hair up into a ponytail, and he exclaims "Your belly is getting so big! Are you sure you're not pregnant?!"

This is a BIG insecurity with me. My stomach would be flat now, if not for some loose skin that just sits there like a pouch on my abdomen. It's not a "belly" and there's nothing I can do about it.
Now I've felt horrible all afternoon. Some people...

I'M SHOCKED! *dies*
How rude! You work together? I'd talk to him and tell him his comment was not nice and what he said was upsetting to you.
The nerve of some people! Sounds like he's jealous or something and just wants to go out of his way to make you look bad.

We don't work together...this is a guy who's friends with the two women I work with and comes around ALL the time. I'm staying away from him from now on. At the time the comment was made, he was asking questions about dieting and weight loss, so I was answering. Guess he didn't like my answers...

You are 5'8" and 140 and he's talking about your "belly"? That is INSANE! I don't know if this guy gets off on saying stupid things or what, but that's crazy! Some people should not be allowed out of their houses.

Sometimes people's comments say more about themselves than you. Mindy you are beautiful. Don't let a loser like this guy tear you down.

Sounds like a perfect spot for the raised-eyebrows/shocked look, "Oh my God, you actually said that out loud! You must be so embarassed!" Some people just weren't raised right, and as a result, they're social ******s. Mindi, I've read a few of your posts, and it seems to me that you are surrounded by an incredible concentration of them. You've accomplished the incredible ... you rock!

"Your brain is getting so small. Are you on drugs?"
I probably wouldn't have SAID that, but I sure would have WANTED to.

What a jerk...... I would do my best to avoid him too. I like the comment "your brain is getting small, are you on drugs". Maybe one about his mouth getting too big......

My favorite response yet!
Mindi, that guy is a jerk. Please try not to let it bother you. I'd not consider him a friend from this point on.

This guy has a lot of nerve. I'm glad you are venting about it rather than taking in his comment. He's plain wrong.
The comments about you losing too much weight are out of hand too. I'm annoyed by people who say we looked better heavier. Nobody runs up to thin women and say they'd look better with extra weight. People think that because we look different, somehow we look worse.
I feel like I have to hide my weight loss sometimes with baggy clothes around friends and family because they'll tell me to gain weight. Whereas, around strangers, I'll wear my skinny clothes and nobody gives me a second thought.
