Out of the Mouths of Husbands
Last night, my DH was being the good guy that he is and listening to my general griping about some of the physical "reminders" of my weight loss- some mildly stretched skin over my belly, dimples at my knees and elbows, etc. He gave me a long look and said, "Sweetie, you know that I think that you look amazing. But, you need to remember that the last time you were at this size, you were in your very early twenties. You wouldn't look like that now, even if you had NEVER gained any weight! You have an adult's body now."
Huh. Made me think about how realistic my expectations are. Fitness, weight control, health- yes, bring it on! Perfect abs and gravity defying boobs- maybe not at 36, and maybe that is OK. I obviously have one of the best guys out there as my best friend, and he loves how I look! I'm a little prouder of the current results of my journey today!

Oooo good comment from your mans! He makes a good point -- even if a person is never heavy, few people keep looking like teenagers as they age. I'm 24 now, but my hope as I age is to just be active, relatively thin, and look damn good for whatever age I am at the time.

I have to admit I was steeling myself for a hurtful comment and I am so happy to see that it is the opposite!!!
 He's awesome.

Yes! but there is no reason why you can't look like you did in your teens! I'm 32 and back to a 28 jean and in better shape than when i was 17.

Thanks, guys! I think he is pretty awesome myself. And, STi, there is one reason that I will never look like a teenager again- GRAVITY! Ha! I am in better condition than I was as a "sweet young thing", though. "Seasoned" me could kick my 17 year old self's butt. And wear her jeans!
