lower basal body temperature is indicative of a slowing metabolism, due to dieting.

No offense, but based on what I've read, MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) is a sulfur compound found in some plants, and in trace amounts in many foods and beverages, but has no established RDA. It has been shown to have some benefits for osteoarthritis though...

More info on MSM here, here and here.

WebMD says:
MSM is POSSIBLY SAFE for most people when taken by mouth for 3 months or less. In some people, MSM might cause nausea, diarrhea, bloating, fatigue, headache, insomnia, itching, or worsening of allergy symptoms.

I was ridiculously happy to have found this thread.

I am ALWAYS cold. Weight changes never affected it. I was just as cold at 275# as I was at 195# as I am right now at 230#. I've had tests for every possible reason - low iron, thyroid, candida, Renaud's Phenomenon. (I was actually kinna hoping for that last one just because it has such a cool name. ). But, no. Nothing. I'm just cold.

The absolute worst - and the thing that people think is most weird - is that I can't stand cold air. Fans, air conditioners, wind. It makes my skin hurt and drives me to distraction. I will go to ridiculous lengths to get away from it or avoid it.

I was just wondering, all of you cold people, is your basal body temperature lower than the normal 98.6 degrees too?

Mine is, I think by a couple degrees... So I like to keep my apartment in the winter at close to 80! Feels soooo nice... too bad I have electric heat!

I'm also the same way. Feeling cold makes me feel physically ill. I HATE being cold.

Has anyone had their iron levels checked? Having low iron can affect your body's resistance to cold and can cause poor regulation of body temperature. You might not be anemic, but you could have an iron deficiency causing this to happen. That's how it is for me, and I find the cold not as unbearable now that I take a supplement. But I still hate being cold

I'm always cold! It's quite ridiculous.

The other day, everyone around me was complaining about how insanely hot it was outside and how they could hardly breathe. It truly felt good to me and I don't like being overly hot. Now, I'm not a stick so this makes NO sense to me. LOL!

OMG! A cold thread!! I am ALWAYS so cold. I live in Cali and right now it has been pretty warm. At work, I always have my little desk heater on. My boss just said to me today, "you cant be cold." Sadly, I was! Lol. As we speak, I am wrapped in a blanket at my apartment when it's no where near cold out side! And yes, grocery stores and movie theatres can litterally make my fingers go numb sometimes. ESPECIALLY grocery stores. I run through them bc I am so cold. WTH!?! I have not gotten my iron, basal levels or thyroid checked. I really need to.

I am no longer cold -- it was my thyroid meds needing adjustment.

Stars oh mighty yeeesssss I am cold around the clock....less egg dying hot flashes that remind me how nice it actually is to be cold instead~ha. I am 195 lbs down since starting my weight loss at 365 pounds years ago. Today at 170 I look like an eskimo in the middle of summer~then an almost naked eskimo seeking cold sheets on a moments notice! lol

My doctor shared with me that cold is good if my thyroid checks out normal, and it did. He said that is a person's metabolism resetting with weight loss in progress. Sooo no longer do I worry about it, I just go prepared for regular bone shivering chills, as well as hidden layers for when those power surges arrive. I'm either a "cool chic" or a "HOT MOMMA"...but no matter the moment I am always......SmilinDi.

I'm still always cold, but it's not as ridiculous as it once was. People seem to LOVE keeping EVERYTHING freezer-worthy cold in the southern states, which drives me up the wall because I don't want to wear a jacket every time I go grocery shopping.

I get colder than most people seem to, but I also have less insulation than most people. If I were to regain the insulation, I'd be warmer. Simple science, I suppose.

I LOVE this thread! 95% of the time I'm cold. And what makes life worse is I work in an office with a lady with hot flashes. I try and sneak the thermostat up a few degrees every once in a while but sometimes I'm so cold that I just think I might cry

Re: Supermarkets
They keep the outer perimeter cold (where the "essentials" are-- eggs, dairy, meat, breads, produce, etc) to drive you into the MIDDLE of the store, where the expensive items are
Smart cookies
Oh, and the most expensive items on a shelf are always at eye level
