I have both of Jillian's books. I recommend them highly. Making the Cut is better if you only have like 20 pounds left to lose, Winning by Losing is better for if you have further to go. I especially like how she sets up workouts for you, I learned TONS from her plans. (Both books have workout plans that last like 12 weeks) She doesn't sugar coat that it's going to be hard work, I like that as well. Check out the early pages of Jillian's girls
