My name is HP and I am new to 3FC! I joined a few days ago but I am just now getting the courage to post. (CREDIT!) I have been overweight most of my life and I am so full of hope and excitement because I know this time I will lose the extra weight! I am a vocalist, dancer, and actor aspiring to book a job on Broadway soon. It's time for me to stop using my weight as a crutch because I am afraid and go for what I deserve!
So far today I have made sure I measure my foods (CREDIT!) and have actually sat down to taste everything. (CREDIT!)
I am so thankful to have found this book and website! I look forward to see where this journey takes us!
I actually started going to a therapist a few months ago and she recommended it. I didn't buy it at first because I didn't want to to spend money on yet another diet book. She explained to me it wasn't a diet book, but a tool to learn how to diet with the right tools to succeed.
As for 3FC, I had seen it before at one time or another looking up online support groups because my job requires me to travel. When The Beck Diet Solution suggested I need to join one, I remembered 3FC because of the fun name.
Thank you again for the warm welcome. I feel like for the first time in my life I am actually going to succeed.
As someone who has maintained their weight for (WOW) five and a half years, do you have any advice for someone starting out on their journey?
Working the Beck strategies does produce the feeling, "I feel like for the first time in my life I am actually going to succeed."
My only hints are to take every one of the Beck Strategies seriously - it's easy to think them silly and worthy of being ignored. Included in those is to post daily (or frequently), especially when starting out. You can read in our monthly thread how often one of us stops posting when struggling - exactly when we need it most.
