I was kind of winging it from what I remembered from reading one of the older books and doing Atkins years ago, but I downloaded DANDR yesterday and will read that over the weekend.

I used "Atkins '72"... I love that book... and for me it's nice and simple... especially that first week... basically just keep the carbs to the 2 cups of salad greens a day... and then after that add back up to 5 to 8g of carbs a day each week... I really liked that flexibility... and for me it worked very well.. and now I can have pretty big salads and lots of veggies and still keep my carbs pretty low... the carbs I was interested in adding back where some cottage cheese and ricotta... some macadamia nuts and some fruit... mostly berries, but I had 1/2 a grapefruit once in a while too... I have NO interest in adding back bread and pasta, because I just know those foods don't work for me... And I'm still not really sure how "whole grains" might fit into the picture just yet.... But we'll see...

I'm beginning to think I have an eating disorder. I can do a perfect Atkins breakfast and lunch and then I just fall apart around dinner - well, beginning with a snack at 4:00. My goal is to just get through one day of induction. Geez, what is wrong with me lately!!!!

That first week I had a pretty tough time.... When I got hungry I just stuck "no carb" stuff... I probably ate too much protein and not enough fat... But the ketosis definitely seemed to help me with the carb cravings...

So I've been trying some new things this week... Some Quest bars and some protein powder "shakes".... both low carbs, but I think they are triggering carb cravings for me... It was a nice change of pace... But I think I do better with "real" food... It's sort of too bad because they were rather convenient and I was surprised by how much I liked the Quest bars, especially since "bars" aren't really my thing...

So it looks like I need to just go back to basics and pretty much stick to my very low carb meal plan which I know works for me...

B: 4oz Protein
1 serving fruit

L: 4oz to 6oz Protein
1 cup cooked veggies
2 cups salad greens

D: 4oz to 6oz Protein
1 cup cooked veggies
2 cups salad greens

And for fats I can have a few tsp's of cream in my coffee, a couple of tsp's of butter on my veggies, and tbsp or two of olive oil to make salad dressings and to cook with... And for snacks and oz or two of cheese or nuts...

Perhaps not the most exciting menu in the world... But I know it works for me... Oh, well... I guess it's back to basics for me...

You're going to get different opinions on this. Here's a link that will give you a better understanding of Atkins products:

B: 6oz tofu
4 cups brocoli
1.5 cups vegetable broth
2 tsp EVOO
1/4 tsp sea salt

All blended in a vitamix-like blender on the "soup" setting... Yes, that's right folks... I had a big bowl of "soup" for breakfast.... AND I got a TON of veggies in already for the day... And all that for 16g of net carbs and about 380 calories and I'm definitely feeling pretty "full" too...

First weigh in - lost 4 pounds! Woo hoo!

Very happy with that . This weekend and next week, planning on more bags of veggies, and other high protein snacks other than the Atkins products. Those choc covered almonds, shakes and bars are TOO good. Or limit to couple times a week.
Thks for the info Jersey!

Going out w the girls. Uh-oh

I found a great site for recipes! It's www.cavemanketo.com I'm sure not all of the recipes are spot on, but it looks like they are close enough to tweak for whatever phase of Atkins you're on.
