smith yeah it's not been fun lol it's been going on about 6 months.

i went from not having one at all for years to making up for it all now! my doc assures me that the pill does not make you gain weight, retain weight or harder to lose weight; i'm just not 100% sure on that lol But I am growing really really tired of constantly being on my period! So I'll probably do it and then just deal with whatever happens.

You are rocking it again smith!! Great job!

I log my food too and lately it has made me cringe, but it was all my choice. I am responsible and know what I need to do to improve. At least I am being honest with myself.

I know you guys are going to rock the losses this weekend!

Ali - Thanks for the tips. I will check out the cabbage recipe.

I did some research on BC a little while back. The one form to stay away from is depo. That seems to cause weight gain. I found a few studies that showed slight weight gain with the other methods (something like 1-5 lbs over a long period of time), BUT the studies seem to think that is the weight gain is related to just the passage of time and the aging of the participants. At any rate, not a significant amount of weight. Some people think the mini pill has even a smaller chance of weight gain, but you have to take the pill at the same time each day.

Ali

- I've seen so many people have problems with the Atikins bars & shakes, I think it really is best to pass on those, or at least leave them only for real emergencies. I've not seen the same problems with pork rinds (but they gross me out!)

- Also, I second what Traveler says - most birth control will be weight-neutral or at worst just a couple of pounds. Depo-provera and other progesterone-only ones can be a little worse, but it really sounds like you need to get your hormones under control, with things that out of whack that can't be helping your real fat loss right now, so a few pounds of water weight on the scale will be no big deal if you're able to lose FAT better once that gets taken care of.

---

Went to get on my scale in it's new home today and it was literally rocking back and forth, so clearly I chose a poor new location. Ended up moving it back to where it's been and it showed a loss, but I'm not celebrating until I see a consistent drop in a consistent place... finding a place for this scale is proving challenging!

SW : 187.4
CW : 185.8 (-1.6, maybe...)
GW : 182.4

187.4 May 14
186.6 May 15
188.2 May 16
189.0 May 17
187.0 May 18
187.4 May 19
187.4 May 20
187.0 May 21
187.8 May 22
185.8 May 23 (I think it's the moving scale effect more than anything else ... will see what tomorrow brings)

Thank you Sarah And yes I do agree on those bars - I had bought them only for my trip b/c I knew food options would be limited and would be hard to pack something needing to stay cold.

We are actually going out of town tomorrow as well so I had some on hand for that also --- I won't be using them.

I will def stay away from them from now on

LOL on the pork rinds - I only like the spicy ones, and even then only sometimes HA! I have been in a snacky mood -- we'll blame that on TOM so they really helped me with that snack attack lol

Ahhh yes, I had trouble with my scale a while back when moving it to a new location, it really does make a difference! Hopefully you found a good home for it now and will keeping seeing loss!

Sarah... Get yourself a piece of tile/square of Linolium, ceramic or wood and make that your scale platform... and then you can put it anywhere as the surface would not change! That is what my mom does... I have 18 inch tile squares... so no overlap thank goodness!

Ali! you got a ticker! WEEEEE and a woosh or whoosh week is where you all of a sudden lose alot of weight overnight or in a few days (kinda like it was all stored up and then woosh) We all pray to the Woosh Fairy! to come visit us nightly! LOL and the bars are trouble! as Jersey Girl would say... read the older Atkins books 2002 or earlier.. as Alcohol carbs do wacky stuff to our systems!

and funny about BC... When I was taking it (80's) everyone gained weight (old formula probably) whereas I lost weight when told I would gain... I simply just said not happening to me and it didn't LOL Mind over matter I think!

SW 228
CW 226.2 (-1.8) okay.. maybe I have started a woosh? Oh I hope soo!

GW 223 (this better be fast!!!)

SW: 174
CW: 171.2 (a Woosh?)

All of this talk of journaling has me inspired. I definitely need to journal this weekend while we are on the road. That way I won't be stumped when I weigh in on Monday.

Sarah - I bet you just lost the two pounds. :-) I had an issue with my scale a while back. I never realized how much placement mattered.

I hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday weekend! I will be back to the board on Monday, hopefully with good news!

Also....side note. I started taking the the non-drowsy version of my allergy pills. I have done this on two separate occasions (they are expensive so I don't consistently buy them). Both times I had several days in a row with decreased appetite and got good results on the scale. Can these really make that much of a difference?

They reconstitute the pork rinds down here and put them in burritos and such....gag, ick, gag....there is a slim/grissle factor there that I can't get
through.

I've got to work a little harder to start seeing changes.........3 pounds in 10 days just is not going to make the cut

Ali I think the pork skins affect people differently according to how sensitive they are to water retention caused by sodium. They have a LOT of sodiom in them and a serving is actually very small, so I know for me it is very easy to eat 2-3 servings at a time! (I might have eaten 4 today
The bars on the other hand do not affect me at all. I have ate one almost daily since starting and lost with no problem. I have considered stopping them now that I'm stalled to see if it makes a difference. I'm not advocating them for everyone...I just know that for the past 4 months they kept me from eating "other" things many times.
Sarah I too notice a big change in the scales when I move them! Hoping that lower number is right!
Sue I know it's slow but you are moving in the right direction!
Smith if it makes you feel any better I think you have made the most progress lol.
Wow Traveler I would say thats an awesome whoosh!
Hang in there Mara!!

Well WHOO RAY! Sarah.. That weight off was true! Niceeeeeee

Carol.. you are in single digits now... I am waiting here with the noise makers to herald you!

Traveler - I wonder if the medication is making your body hold water? Just thinking....

Smith.. I have yet to try Pork Rinds (chips).. I think its a mental thing.. but would be nice to add a crunchiness to chicken if you mix it with seasonings and coat?? hmmmmmmmmmmmm

I spent all night out in the field watching for this (not) fantastic meteor shower... We did see a green Fireball.. but only counting 40 meteors over 3 hours.. not the 100-1000 the scientists and astronomers thought. I had fun tho looking at things thru my telescope (had not been outside in 4 years) and yacking it up with the Guys (yep.. not 1 other girl showed up) and their humor... LOL.. I had fun tho and kept them on their toes! I think they are alittle unsure on how to talk to me now as most of them knew me as 300+ girl and I am not that anymore..

SW 228
CW 225.0 (-3.0) still wooshing.. Wow I wonder.. maybe its from the extra water or my woosh week started? Either way.. I am getting back down to 221..

GW 223 (this better be fast!!!)
