Pixikat... are you holding onto that water bottle when you are on that scale? Shed that liquid! that is all it is!

Hello Calee and WOOHOO to getting back to that 140's HOORAY! and me.. actually 225.4 was my lowest about 8 days ago and I have finally gotten back here! But I am so psyched about doing induction again (just got back from shopping) so that I can race Easily to the 2 teens!

Easily... I still just count carbs as counting calories would drive me nuts. I try to walk enough to work off at least 500 calories of extra exercise (soon to start ZUUUUUUMBA! WooHoo). Carbs are my triggers and it looks like I will need to stay under 40 to maintain (average weekly) and under 25 to lose... which is AOK at my age (56 next week).. and my brain thanks me every day (and I thank God!). Maybe when I get to 170 or so.. I might have to get drastic and count calories.. or just cut down to 2 meals a day instead... Will think about that when I lose 50 more lbs!

Gorgeous day here in Southeast Florida! I hope noone has any extreme weather anywhere near you!

Nice whoosh there! Glad to see you getting some momentum and movement again on the scale.

Yeah, I am really skeptical of the paleo people who push starch so vehemently, and Jaminet (and a few others) have come off in interviews I've heard as basically thinking low carbers are stupid and not understanding their theory.

I fully accept that a "normal" human body can process starches well and responds well to them, but a lot of us end up at low carb because our bodies aren't so normal in that respect...

I've seen very few middle aged, obese or formerly obese women do well with the starch added back after they've succeeded with low carb. So I read and listen and try to learn, but hold myself back from trying carb nite and adding "safe starches" and all that. Right now, if it ain't broke, don't fix it...

Checking in on this, one week in :

My major commitments :

- weigh in daily (I already do this)
- step count over 10,000 at least 1 day a week
- count calories/carbs at least 2 days a week
- no dairy other than grass fed butter

SW : 189.0
CW : 185.8 (-3.2)
GW : 179.0 (and this will put me out of OBESE & merely "Overweight" per BMI

Daily weights :
186.8 Apr 22
188.2 Apr 23
188.4 Apr 24
186.8 Apr 25
186.2 Apr 26
185.4 Apr 27 (lowest weight since my wedding in 2007)
185.8 Apr 28

Steps were above 8,000 (my daily target) on Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday, and over 10k on Friday

I did not count carbs/calories this week, I'd been doing it daily until Easter & was just really burned out, but I'll do it this week for the whole week of the Induction Challenge

I put that dairy rule in place to keep me dairy free for a few months longer, since I keep fantasizing about cheese and cream! They will need to wait until the end of July though, because if I reintroduce them I'd do so first with the high-quality stuff (grass fed, raw blah blah) and that is easy to get here in France and hard to get in the States, and I'll be in the States for most of July with my kids.

Good Morning!

I'm not a step counter anymore. My daily is to walk to work and back. It's about 3/4 mile each way. I generally take Pilates Reformer 4-5x a week. On days I ont take a class, I get in an additional 5k walk around the lake in front of my house. On weekends I'll go up in the woods to get i n some hill climbing. My routine has worked well for me without getting my panties in a knot over number. I pay a set price monthly at the studio so I'm very faithful to my commitment. The more I go, the cheaper the classes. Single classes are $35.

No calorie, carbs I'm fanatical about and have been for decades.

Let's rock off those pounds this week. I still can't exercise because of ankle but now at least I can walk t o work again. So no real exercise advantage. Calories will have to stay low. No extras.

Good Morning,
I like the focus as well. I've had good luck since I started on Thursday. However yesterday I added some food because I was very hungry. I'm up a little this morning. Not surprised. Maybe today I won't be as bad. Elusive 140's. I'll be back there tomorrow!

4/26 151.4
4/27* 149.8
4/28. 149.8
4/29 150.4

I'm on track with my food planned for the day.

Easily, I'm sorry the Whoosh Fairy left your house. Maybe she will come to mine.

SUE! I see that lower number peeking out there!

Pixie, intense school load and you're dropping weight. Bravo!

Sarah, you're being beautifully consistent.

Talking to my weight watchers leader after meeting last night. I realized that I got traumatized by someone at work on February 21st. My eating was tough and I didn't shed any weight in the Easter challenge. The issue finally was resolved last Wednesday and Thursday I got hyper focused and am ready to be back in the game. I had not made the correlation until I told him about the situation last night. I'm back in focus after being on a weight plateau. Amazing the mind/body correlation.

Sarah, I hope your little one is better.

Wow Easily and Sue! I'm so impressed! Great job.

I'm rolling along ok. Eating more mindfully is great and I do like the focus but miss that bite of this or that. It's interesting to watch myself debate over the stalk of celery. I plan my food in the morning and generally veer off just a touch based on hunger levels. I'm trying not to be too hungry or too full.

Now just losing a few ounces a day will make me happy. I have a 4 month goal to be my adult lowest of anything under 140. End of summer/African Safari. I can do this!

Pixie, I saw in the other thread that you eat Atkins peanut butter cups. I didnt want to post thi in the challenge threa. I never had those but I do buy Quest Cravings peanut butter cups. They are my crack! 2cups, 10 carbs and I think 4 fiber, 240 calories, 21 protein. I find them as good as candy which is dangerous but the carbs are low. I ate 1 cup for dessert last night. It was better than nuts or something else or me because it is a controlled amount. I'm a huge Quest fan since they came out years ago.

Hopefully it'll stay down in the 30s. I don't know if I can battle with the 40s for much longer.

Last night was the first final. I know I aced it but also know I didn't get the 100% I was aiming for. The professor said it was impossible to get 100% so I was trying to prove him wrong, but I know at least one question I missed since I looked it up right after I got out. Sad too because that was the only question I didn't feel SURE about. Oh well.

My next final start in about 15 minutes (I'm typing in the classroom) then none until the 9th and the 12th. (These teachers elected to hold theirs the last day of class instead of during finals week)

Sue- you are doing great! surpassing your steps by far each day and smack in the mid 220s, I wish I was there with you!

easily- you are doing great! lucky you that you are breaking those habits so easily

Hey everyone! I've read through and will come back to respond.

Sue - I'm due July 8th but set for my 3rd csection on July 1st. We already had a 4 yr old boy and a 2 yr old girl so this baby is a surprise. It has been the easiest and most fun decision I think we've ever made during a pregnancy. The unknown is being awesome!

AFM: I did really well for a few days, then we had a family dinner and I was like a drug addict released in a pharmacy. I'm pretty sure I ate enough carbs for the week in about 30 minutes. It was ridiculous and I knew what I was doing and my inner voice was saying "Don't do it." and the junky in me shut her up by eating more food.

Ok, in all honesty, I didn't actually do too badly. Maybe 500 cals over for the day and about 100 carbs. The calories don't effect me all that much but my body LOVES to hold on to every carb I look at. I know better. Why do they taste so good?! I've ended with a 7 lb gain in 2 days. I was sick yesterday and still feel bad today (probably from the crappy food) and didn't worry with diet yesterday and just ate bites here and there. Oh well, I'm doing the right thing today and I'm just praying, at this point, that I don't end this pregnancy higher than my starting weight last summer (275.4). I would LOVE to end this pregnancy in the 220s but I'm trying to be practical.

Start: 254
Current: 255.8
Goal: 235

Calee- I think we were posting right about the same time cause when I was posting your post didn't show up yet lol I haven't tried the quest ones, I do eat the quest protein bars fairly often though. The Atkins ones are 160 calories, 7 carbs, 5 fiber, 2 protein, 13 fat. And you get two cups about the same size as the regular reese's ones. Maybe slightly smaller but not by much if it is.
