My inner battle right now is getting into the teens. 2 years ago I got down to 217 (for about a day lol), so I really want to get below that and keep going. I think sometimes our minds just get to involved and sabotage us but we will make it!

    newme - I agree with the concept of self sabatoge. most of the time I go off track it is just because temptation is a b**ch but sometimes it seems that it is because food and weight is my comfort zone. I can't remember not being overweight and eating whatever and when I was down at 202 it was exciting and scary and overwhelming. I think I fell so off track after my wedding because everything was so far from what I knew.

    Newme/Pixie - thank you!! Self-sabotage!! Word of the day!! One thing that helps me is knowing the cravings come from complex messages in my brain telling my body that it is starving when it is not. The second and much harder concept is simply creating good habits to replace less than optimal habits!! (Notice I didn't say bad..) I know I talked before about only ordering coffee now instead of coffee, breakfast sandwich and hash browns!! I eat a better low carb, low cal breakfast at home before I go out!! It takes time and planning but ALL of us are totally worth it!!

    HANG IN There all of you who are doing the scale dance like I am. Remember... It is the final goal in mind and our travels to that goal. No day is perfect. We just try our best! The alternative is not what I want to be. I do not want to be that person who weighed 320 lbs and had a hard time getting off the couch, never mind trying to get up off the floor. (and I live alone). I do not want to ever be scared of not being able to take care of myself because of my weight! Just remember what got you started on this journey!

    Well I scootched back lol we went out to eat last night. How is it I can eat a chopped salad at subway 3 times a week and no water retention and I get almost the exact salad at a restaurant and I wake up all poofy which means tomorrow will be poofier after whatever I drink today... bah!

    I am supposed to go drinking with a friend tonight so maybe it is time to try the Ian diet. rum and diets all night long and no food! The hard part will be following through on that, once I am buzzed I want everything off limits. So I will allow myself on plan food if I get desperate.
  • Honestly, it isn't all that fun eating out when your eating your on plan food and know that your Still gonna see a gain on the scale the next day. It stinks! Question: do ya'll try drinking more water to flush out the extra sodium?

    Thanks Sue! I'm am REALLY sorry those scales won't be nice to you! I think it is awesome how you are able to continue to encourage everyone else even when you are feeling discouraged! But your right...it is all about remembering where we were, where we want to be, and why we are on the journey!
    Lulu...I can't say I have that food struggle All the time but there definitely are weak moments. Esp. Around TOM. This month was one of the worst!

    I had originally set a goal of 219 but then decided that might be too much. So changed it to 224.0. (I really like setting range goals, so in my head its been 219 to 224 all along). Anyway will push for the 219 now Thanks for all the encouragement!

    Lulu... I know what you mean by eating FAST... I too grew up that way (especially when it came to French Fries in our house) You eat what you like fast ...... then you overeat as your brain has not had time to catch up to your tummy... Don't I know that too!... The old adage... chew food 30 times before swallowing... Well I will add an extra 3 or 4 to my 5 bites ! LOL well maybe more

    Carol... you can use whatever goal you want. Sometimes it is nice to have a lofty goal (that might not be reachable) and sometimes an easy goal that is too easy to reach and we would need more push... Its just hard to pick sometimes... I participated in challenges before where people had 2 goals.. 1 goal and 1 Awesome goal (kinda like shooting for the possible stars).. We all have a number in our head and kinda know what are bodies are capable of... We just have to remember that we are forgiven for not reaching and cheered when we do reach it! (PS I believe in the 219 for you! OH YES!)

  • Nice, Sue, to see you back in the 220s!

    My new diet, Wahls Paleo Plus, that I transitioned to last week is going well. I'm succeeding on some fronts, more challenged on others. No snacking, as I expected, has been extremely challenging, but it's been a weird week since we have guests and I think I'd be able to do better with that in my normal routine. What I'm most happy about was the goal at switching to this at all - to eat 6 cups of veggies daily AND be in ketosis. I've been checking ketostix daily and have been back in ketosis consistently after the first few days.

    I'm very happy with this challenge, should our next one run from Easter to Independence Day? In particular I think the food log has been critical to me at this point. I always resist doing that, but it's the most powerful tool I have...

    - weigh in daily (I already do this)
    - keep a daily food log (I've seriously resisted this and it is hard for me to commit to, but frankly I think it's what I will need to do to move through this weight decade that has stalled me for years in the past)

  • Sarah it's great that your enjoying your new plan and it really seems to be working for you! I agree that keeping the food log seems to be the key. I have kept one since I started and only missed an occasional day. I think Easter to July 4th would be a great time frame for the next challenge. It would be about 10 weeks.

    Sue you are dropping on down in those 20s! Can't wait to see what happens whoosh week!

    So I mentioned at the beginning of this challenge that I was doing Team Lean with the YMCA. It was for 10 weeks and ended on March 27th. I lost 37 lbs and I found out today I was #6 in the top 10 losers ( I lost 14 .3 % of my body weight) and I got a check for $115. Exciting!

    newme - I do drink more to balance out the salr but it just takes time... I've found it takes about 3 days if I up my water, 5 days if I drink normally and longer if I drink less than normal.
