Default Broth

I was reading on the Atkins site about being allowed to have broth that is not low sodium once or twice a day. Is that just a beef or chicken broth in a can? Can I add veggies and meat to it to make a soup?

I have both beef and chicken broth. I just figure in what I am adding to the broth with the rest of the stuff I am eating for the day. It's like the Vietnamese dish "pho" but no noodles. Many times I have plain broth but sometimes I add shredded cheddar to make faux French onion soup!! It's whatever gets you through.....same for chicken broth adding in chicken/ celery for a low carb chicken soup or whichever acceptable vegetables you want in the broth. For me it's more broth than ingredients and it satisfies my need to eat because it seems like I'm eating a lot.....psychological I know.

I put spinach and garlic in my broth. sometimes I will make a mock egg drop soup by adding a whipped raw egg in the broth. It gives more protein and the hot soup cooks it right away!
