Mara... I know how you feel... and tomorrow, may that scale show you a number that makes you smile!!!!!!!!!! (was the pizza good? This is something I am going to have when I have gotten 1/2 way in my loss journey.... as a taste... got 11 lbs more to go)
  • Well done Tuscany on the 3/4 loss! Wow. You are so right about the last 10 being tough. Everyone told me here it would get hard. I believed no one.

Now I believe! It is hard.

Down 0.4lbs today. Bring on the weekend. I want to see 160s before Tuesday at which point I will gain.

  • Thanks for the WOW, Sue!!

Ian: I so often see people here struggle with those last 10 lbs. What concerns me is if the last 10 lbs are that hard, then how hard will maintenance be? Yikes!

I'm SO loving August...I've lost almost 10 pounds this month. Next month my weight losses will slow down, since I'm in Europe from Sep 8-21, and then I'm back at work (I was off work throughout August, taking accumulated vacation). But I won't mind a slow down in my losses, since I'm now at a weight where I'm starting to be happy with how I look :

    A26: 150.00 (-1.00)

    half way to my goal
  • Tuscany - Where are you going in Europe? I'm jealous!! You must be so excited!

  • Hey PrettyMom...you're back to moving in the right direction.

I'm very excited about my trip. My daughter is currently doing her PhD at Oxford University, after finishing her Masters last year. She has her formal graduation ceremony for her Masters' degree this year, so I will be going to Oxford to visit with her and to attend the graduation.

In addition, my daughter is getting married next year, and the wedding will be held in Sienna, Italy (Tuscany region...hence my username!). We're not Italian, but half our friends/family live in Canada and the other half live in the UK or Germany (same applies for my daughter's fiance). So, Italy was sort of neutral ground. Since most people would have to travel in any event, and it's a bit much to travel simply to attend a wedding for one day, we decided to do a destination wedding so that everyone can have a vacation as well. We've booked a private Italian villa for the event for a full week.

So, my other purpose in going to Europe is to make plans for the wedding, and we will be spending about 5 days in Italy. I'm SO excited. Of course, this trip will play havoc with my diet, because one of the things we have to do in Italy is to meet with the caterer. They are preparing all sorts of dishes in order for us to do a tasting/sampling, so we can pick what we want for the wedding dinner. I'm quite sure that day will take me off plan!
  • Tuscany - That is so exciting! Congratulations, you must be so proud of your daughter!! What an honor to have one of your kids get her PhD and from Oxford!! That deserves a double WOW!!!

Enjoy the trip and the food. You can always get back on plan after your trip. We'll be here to cheer you on and help you get ready for the wedding.
  • Thanks, PrettyMom. I am very proud of her. She and her brother are the two loves of my life. I also adore her fiance, which is always a plus!

I'm hoping to maintain while I'm away...although time will tell. I intend to stay OP other than the "tasting" day, plus two other days when we have special dinners planned...graduation day for one and another day in Italy. My daughter and her fiance are both very fit and always on the go. They don't have a car and they walk everywhere. So, I'm going to tell them to take no pity on the old lady, and that they must make me keep up with them. I'm taking a comfortable pair of running shoes and hopefully I will burn off any extra calories I may eat!
  • Thanks Tuscany. It's funny you say that. I used to be worried about maintenance and mostly how to stop losing but these last 10 lbs have made me worry a lot less about that.

I have learnt that just upping my food a tiny bit makes me stall out (e.g. eating two servings of fish instead of one). I'll just do that to maintain and keep within a 5lb range. Easy.

My fear earlier on would be that I would just keep losing without eating a whole lot more which would get me back into old habits. I can see now that that will not be the case.

    So on with the ten.

    Down 0.8lbs today.

    SW: 173.8lbs
    8/26: 172.6lbs
    8/27: 174.6lbs
    8/28: 174.0lbs
    8/29: 174.6lbs
    8/30: 174.2lbs
    8/31: 173.4lbs
    GW: 168.8lbs
  • Smith: Congrats on getting halfway to goal!! Ian: Glad to see you've got a good plan for maintenance. Good luck to everyone else this morning.

I've been slow but steady for the last few days:

    SW: 151.00
    A26: 150.00 (-1.00)
    A27: 149.00 (-1.00)
    A28: 149.00 (0.00)
    A29: 148.25 (-0.75)
    A30: 148.00 (-0.25)
    A31: 147.75 (-0.25)
    GW: 146.00
  • Tuscany.. Your trip to Italy just sounds wonderful and I know that trying that food for your DD wedding is going to be hard... but oh tasty!!!! and I have a feeling that all your happiness that is surrounding this event will just make you so bouyant (sp?) that any oz's that try to stick won't.. they will just float away. So wonderful for your daughter to get her PhD... and a PhD from Oxford is just a cherry! So happy for you that you raised a wonderful daughter (and son) and look how she is realizing her goals! you are a great example!!!
  • Ian... good that you have gotten into your weekend whooshes! Very happy for you...
