Thanks for the supportive flexible comments.

I love soup, usually have a batch of something in the fridge, finds it makes snacks and getting more veggies really easy.

Here is a recent addition that's become a family favorite (even my husband who dislikes cauliflower likes this).

http://reviews.pinchmysalt.com/2011/...ar-and-chives/

I've since used this recipe as a template for other veggies (broccoli, mixed veg when cleaning out the drawer, etc). The best is the original, but it works pretty well for others too.

Not sure how well it would freeze - regular cream doesn't usually do so well, but I think cream cheese fares better.

bee: a glucose meter is never a bad idea, look for the one with the least expensive strips since without diabetes they'll be self pay. Start counting the time from the first bite of food. Test at 1 hour and 2 hours from the first bite. Will be interested in your results.

THAT SOUP SEEMS YUMMY! I'm saving it to try out later.

Yesterday: fell off the wagon into a pile of cookies. We had a gift wrapping service for a holiday help to coworkers. It was a hit. It included apple cider and cookies - that I ended up in a binge on. ugh. I was so good, and then BAM.

Then my weight dropped another pound. HUH?

Then today I ate a donut and a few potato chips. HUH?

It's like things worked backwards, then I went a little farther for it. Gotta get myself back together. Then see if I can keep up that cookie weight loss momentum HUH?

I think it's because I'm starting to help Aunt Flo pack up to leave. Debloating a little.

Kel, this is what's always done my head in with weight loss! I can totally relate and it's always thrown me. When I tried regular diet plans (low fat, low cal) there was never any rhyme or reason to losing (if I lost at all). At least with low carb I know I'll lose at first, but then we eat off plan like that and still lose! And other times gain for no reason! But I do know that if I don't get back on track that cookie weight loss like that doesn't work longer term. Unfortunately.

Thanks for the tips about using the glucose meter. I'll report back when I've gotten one!

I fell off the wagon today. Not sure if I'll get back on. I am wounded. Seriously, I may have to go back on Weight Watcher's Simply Filling. I wish you all the best and will check back in here to see how the challenge went.

Good success to you all!
hope you wont be gone to long ... i look forward to your support. I too am a carb addict. I do so good if im strickly counting carbs. I also feel so good on low carbing and on Atkins Program. I have found over the years of dieting that low carbing is the only way i can eat and be satisfied and more energy..Its hard to get started eating low carbs but if you can get past the first stages,, its all worth the time and effort. Its a continuing struggle to keep on top of eating the right foods, for everyone.. cause what works for one doesnt work for another.. Just keep trying and developing a lifestyle change to a healthy way of eating

I'm doing pretty well on the diet front - even made a regular cheesecake for my husband over the weekend and only had one bite. I made a small sugar free Slenda one for me, but I so hate the taste of fake sugar that I threw it out...

I've been totally off the wagon on exercise this month, and doubt it will improve.

I plan a few days off low carb for x-mas and again at New Year's, but then will be on the attack big time come January 1st evening.

I have been doing my plan this week and with parties that I'd didn't eat anything off plan but maybe ate more than I would on a normal day - and definitely not drinking enough water - I stayed the same ... I can't say I'm not disappointed - when you work so hard at it it should a given you lose a lb at least

And probably TMI but not enough water means not enough bathroom time and this week has been crazy and will get worse over the next few days with a trip to Massachussets Thursday and Friday then home Friday night and shop and cook Saturday drive an hour for Xmas eve dinner then back home again and I swear I will rehydrate completely Sunday - even if it means a big bottle of water next to the bed where right now I'm swearing I'm not leaving the whole day lol.

We will be driving our "new to us" car on the trip - I swear I am as excited about my 2006 as I would be if it were a 2012 lol. .... And I got my new fitbit yesterday so I can start tracking exercise and sleep. Last night was 5 hrs and 8 minutes sleep - not a lot of activity during it - I tend to get in one position and not move all night lol I think it will be a good motivator for me cause each day I will want to do more steps than the previous day - even if it is only 10 extra ones - and over time it will build up to results .. Much like sticking with plan will show results little by little over time.

So let's all do our best the next few days and enjoy the time with family and friends work on maintaining and next week we will all get back on with induction for a few days to break things up and get going again full steam

Hi everyone! I've been away and so not online - feels weird!

Eating at my mum's place has been both good and bad. She and my sister can't believe that I don't want starchy foods with meals, but they aren't against it exactly, just disbelieving. I haven't helped caving to carb cravings (I seriously don't know how anyone who lives with people eating that stuff manages, my hat is off to you all, I have enough trouble when it's just me). I've eaten pretty badly the past few days but tomorrow is christmas and I have made a public declaration that it will be it. I'm back on induction levels from Monday morning. I did drop the water weight and have been managing to keep my portions low so I don't think I'm going backward, much. Was 174.9 when I last weighed. Anyway, Happy Christmas to all who celebrate!!! and hope you have a lovely weekend if you don't!

I'm starting back tomorrow. I plan to lose at least 50 pounds in 2012, but 80 would be great! I know we can do this with supporting each other (hugs)

I'm having a little girl temper tantrum stomping my feet throwing myself on the floor and yelling in my head - I was so so good - on our trip I --- both Cracker Barrell and the Hotel we stayed in offer LC breakfasts yay - we went into Boston North End for dinner with the folks we were visiting and I had chicken breasts with mushrooms and a Marsala sauce and garlic spinach put the potatoes on another plate - walked around a bunch and everyone stopped for gelato and I didn't have any -- then they stopped and got boxes of cannoli and brought them back to the house and I didn't have any while they all did ... Xmas eve I had 3 clams on a half shell and salad and clams casino we made (ground clam, red and green pepper, onion, garlic sautéed in butter mixed together and topped with bacon) while everyone had shrimp and clam linguini and I ate NO cookies, pie, no anything while they all did .... Oh and no drinks only seltzer the whole time Ok - Rho pause and take a breath --- and I'm up!!

Ok it's just a lb - but come on! I swear I am changing batteries in my scale today -

Wow Rho, you definitely deserved the scale to be kind if anyone ever deserves it!

I was off plan as I'd planned from Friday evening until this morning. the first couple of hours were full of woe is me stuff and I was tempted to joint the family for treats at lunch and dinner, but I held out and now I think I'll be fine.

An unexpected late Christmas dinner celebration on Wednesday, haven't made a plan for it yet, might be able to stick to low carb that day, but will be off again for New Years (eve and Day) but then induction level for at least two weeks come Jan 2nd.

I'm still off the wagon. I'll be back around. Not giving up hope. I'll shower off the sugar coating I'm wearing from diving into the dessert table, then I'll be back around.

Happy Holidays to y'all.

Morning all - almost back to where I was - .4 to go - going to work on getting my water intake up again today--

Have you all tried the crack-slaw recipe - took some chop meat out of the freezer and trying to come up with something to do with it ..

Go for my blood work this week for my dr appointment next week - last time it was super - and that was after 2 months on LC - so why am I stressing about it - human nature I guess..

So who else is tired after the holidays? I want to sleep for a week
