Hi All - what level of Atkins are you on and how long are you doing it for? What is your OWL carb level and your Maint carb level? For those in OWL/maint can you post a typical menu?

I am in induction. My goal is to continue induction for 2-4 weeks and then add 5 g of carbs per the atkins ladder. Right now I am at 20 carbs.

Thanks for the replies!

Sorry, I don't have any answers for you, but I am curious about maintenance level of carbs too. I have been doing a lower carb/calorie counting diet.. but am thinking of doing Atkins, since it teaches you how to reintroduce carbs slowly, so that you are able to maintain your weight loss.

So, yeah if anybody is at goal, and would be willing to share around how many carbs you eat a day for maintenance, I'd appreciate it! (I know everyone is different, but I'd like to get an idea. Thanks

I am currently doing OWL and have been for a bout 2 weeks. I've hit a slump and I'm not sure why! I am currently staying at under 40g of carbs. Unless my weight loss is majorly stalled, I plan to stay here for another 2mos. At that point, I will see where I am and decide if I need to keep adding or stay where I am. A typical menu goes like this:

B: Coffee protein shake
L: 1 1/2c. Spinach salad with tuna, 1oz. grape tomatoes, 1 can tuna, 1oz. monterey jack cheese, salt and pepper and 1-2 tbsp. sunflower oil
S: Low carb yogurt OR fruit based protein shake
D: 6oz. steak, 1/2c green beans
S: 1/2c. chocolate whipped cream with 2oz. blueberries

Doesn't change much for me -- I'm a routine eater. LOL Except for the dessert/last snack. I do make these low carb, high protein cookies and eat those quite a bit. But other than that, stays similar to this!

Thanks! I amlooking forward to more veggies and fruit. I think my prob w Atkins before was that I tried to stay at 20 carbs till I lost all the weight. I fell off about 10 lbs from goal and it was all or nothing - ie pizza, burgers etc. I look forward to transitioning into healthy higher carb eating

How many carbs should you eat daily?
  • 20-50 grams for fast weight loss
  • 50-100 grams for steady weight loss
  • 100-150 grams for maintaining body weight

(I don't remember where I read this.)

I'm eating between 1200-1600 calories and keeping my (net)carbs under 50 most days.

The numbers you stated aren't true for everyone. It may work for you, but not everyone will see results with those numbers. The amount of carbs your body can tolerate is unique to each person. Some people can do 200 a day and lose really steady while others may need to go under 20 to see any loss. It just depends on the person. I am at under 40 and so far, not seeing a really steady loss. My body is just STUBBORN!!!! But that's typical of PCOS.

Default Induction

I am currently in the Induction phase of Atkins. My carb level is less than 20 carbs. I started on March 9 and have lost 12 lbs so far. I am apparently very resistant to weight loss, so I will stay in Induction until I am at least half way to my goal.
