Default Any lc-related skin problems?

I've been on induction for a little over four weeks, and I have developed an itchy, prickly, hot rash on my arm. Its been there for days and doesn't respond to antihistamines or cortisone creams at all. It's making me crazy. I haven't changed any soaps, shampoos, etc, and I haven't introduced any new foods at all. I did see some discussion on another low carb board about a kind of detox causing skin rashes. Has anyone here had that kind of experience while eating low carb?

I have never heard of that but who knows. I would definitely go to a doctor and get it checked out! you could have gotten bitten by something or something more serious. Let us know what you find out!

Yes, do go to a doctor. If it's not responding to anything, you need to get checked out.

some people will detox from systemic candida when doing Atkins cause they aren't eating breads or sugars... but that may not be it.. I have a persistent rash on my upper arms all the time though it isn't itchy... it is from candida... hopefully it will go away the longer I'm doing Atkins...

I had something similar on my legs, I do have a history of eczema though. I thought it was related to that. It is now gone. LeslieLou may have a point could be a systemic thing from "detoxing". But I agree with everyone else go to the doctor to get it checked out before it gets worst

Just a guess based on my experience with rashes - Pain, itch, and heat sounds like bacterial infection. A steroid cream can actually make a bacteria infection worse (or so I've heard).

I would guess that diet changes would cause a more widespread rash, not a localized one.

You might try a triple-antibiotic cream, but only if the rash is small and not very uncomfortable. If the itch/pain is getting worse, if the rash covers a large area or is growing, and if it's pink and getting deeper pink/red or if the skin feels like it's getting warmer - I'd get it looked at by a doctor as soon as possible.

I developed those too with the change in diet-but not on my arms.. I had them right above my cleavage. I thought I had them because of gym--i sweated alot one day & nxt day these rashes & they kept increasing So i was scared to step on the elliptical after that lol.

But I did make a docs appointment, and he said they are also called diaper rash & gave me some nightsatin anti fungal cream--and the rashes/spots r finally going away! still can't fig out how they happened though, because I have been going to gym for 1 month.

Jus get the anti-fungal cream from ur doc & they'll go away--if they are the same thing as mine
