  • Hello all,

Today is my offical start on the Atkins plan. I have his old book, with him on the cover. I am going to stay on the 20 grams carbs ,since I have plenty of Lbs to loose. Am doing great so far..am drinking my water and after dinner will do my fitness video.

I am using fitday to keep track..here's what I had this morning.. 16 oz water, 2 fried eggs w 1tbsp whipped butter and 1c sliced cucumbers. = 4 carbs/20

Have a great Monday and Good luck to all.
  • Good luck, Liliann!

Doing the exercise video - that really impresses me! (I'm not the best exerciser in the bunch.)
  • You're going to do great!
Liliann, what a pretty name! You're going to do great. It's hard the first week, but it gets easier and easier. I have the energy burst now, and it's wonderful to want to do something besides lie in bed and watch tv!

Check out my post "Induction for a Really Long Time" because I'm going to be right here with you 'cause I have lots of pounds to lose too. The people who post here are so supportive, helpful and non-judgemental. I post a lot because it helps keep me encouraged and focused. Stay with me, Liliann, we'll get there and stay there!

You're off to a great start.
  • Thank you!!
  • Hi Lillian! I just started Atkins again after being sick for a while. I'm LOVING it the 2nd time around. I've lost 5lbs since starting on Friday and while I have a LOT more to lose I'm really happy with that start.

His book is fascinating to read. I never get tired of looking it over and going to it whenever I need info.

  • You are in the right place. I have been here for a week and love it.

Good luck on your journey and post often. We love to hear from ya.
  • Stay Tight!
    Hi Liliann,

The first week is the hardest, and the first three or four days was really tough. So welcome to your second day...make it great! Soon you won't crave carbs and you'll feel so much better. Stay with us on this journey for health and happiness...
  • Hey!
How are you, Liliann? How's it goin'?
  • Hey Lillian!! I have been doin Atkins for 10 weeks now... I have lost 23 lbs, my daughter has lost 30!!! I also think the first week is the hardest and you will do fine... I have some recipes posted on my blog that I have come up with that are all good for dinner food and snacks.... Hope you have great success!!!
  • Sorry, I could not do it without the fiber...was good on day 1, but had tummy issue and gave it up. I guess low carb is not for me.

    Good luck to all..
  • I don't think that giving a life style change only a day can be interpretted to mean its not for you. What fibre were you missing and what tummy issues?? Maybe the ladies here can give you some ideas on how to get around the issues .... as for the fibre .... lots of it in veggies
  • Sorry to hear that you're not going to continue with low carbing.

I had horrible poops the first day but that went away. Now everything's back to normal and for me, that's a miracle! I have Colitis and any changes to my diet can cause severe flare-ups. But that hasn't happened with Atkins.

I hope you find something that not only works for weight loss but makes you feel good. After all, if you feel crappy that's not healthy and that should be the ultimate goal: good health.

    Best of luck
  • You should really think about your decision. Ultimately you have to do what is right for you. The first week is always the hardest and I believe it is a shock to your system. I had horrible headaches from carb withdrawal. There is always a change when you start a new program. You have to find a way to make it work for you. If you want to talk more about your problems then I'm sure someone here could help.

Whatever you choose, good luck. And just because you aren't on Atkins doesn't mean you can't check in with us and let us know how you are doing.
  • Talk to us anyway
Lts girl isn' kidding. Whatever is best for you is what you need to do, but we'd like to know how it's going in your world, so let us hear from you.
  • I hate that you couldn't give this more than a day??? A habit or change takes at least 21 days to get used too... You could set your self a 3 week challenge... I know for me, personally, low carbing is the only way I can still eat enough not to be hungry all the time... If it is constipation then drink some coffee, that is what my girl does... We put splenda and heavy cream in it, it is delish!!!! If you eat the veggies you are supposed too, then you should have enough fiber, but if you don't drink the water it can back you up.... Don't forget you can also drink a cup of chicken boullion to help with the carb hangover that you have to get out of your system!!

Lillian, I wish you would give it one more try and just try to do it for the 2 weeks and see if you don't feel better... It was only ONE DAY!!! You can do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
