Default Induction- ill feeling

I've attempted induction twice now. The first time I fell off the wagon. The second time, by day three of low-carb eating I felt incredibly ill. I couldn't do anything and I had no appetite, so I actually made myself eat carbs, because it wasn't actually a very convenient time to be feeling that ill. Is it normal to feel really bad by only day three? And when do you stop feeling that ill?

What does a typical day's menu on Induction look like for you? How much water are you drinking? What kind of exercise are you doing?

I read in the book, that when you get the carb flu.. Which is what you sound like, to drink a cup of chicken broth, heavy in sodium.. That when you take out all of the foods you have been eating you actually get sodium depleted cause natural food doesn't have excess sodium.. My daughter got sick on her third day and it worked.. We took a chicken bouillon in about a cup of water and nuked it, with in 30 minutes she was fine... I drink about a cup a day, as my afternoon snack, gives me the same lift that a coke and chips used to give me!!! Good luck!! Hnag in there.. My daughter and I have been doin it for 5 1/2 weeks and I have lost 17 and she has lost 24!! It works, you just have yo get used to it!!!

A lot of people say they have flu-like symptoms for the first several days. It's probably in the days 3-5 when your body has burned up all the carb stores and is learning how to use fat for fuel. If you can hang on you & push through it, it does go away. And then you feel great - energetic, not hungry - on low carb.

Some people feel the induction flu more than others. Your body is just adapting to this way of eating and if you hang in there, you will be rewarded with a diminished appetite which will allow you to not be hungry/as hungry as you normally are when eating high carbs.

Many times when starting a new way of eating (Atkins or not), there's a period of feeling unwell, muscle aches, head aches, crabbiness, bad breath, bowel disturbances and more!

When I was in ketosis, I felt like crap for the first few days until I broke through and felt really great, less hunger, no obsessional food urges and had less aches and pains in general. Your experience may vary.

Don't forget the *energy*!!!!!!! When you first get into ketosis, some people (myself included) get an amazing jolt in their energy levels.

Day 3 and day 4 suck! Really BIG! BUT... by day 5 or 6 you should begin feeling a surge of energy, and feel much better. It is getting over that hurdle those few days that is tough.
