Right now for me, it's tuna. I can hardly stomach the idea of opening a can. I bought fat free Miracle Whip so that maybe I'd eat some like dip.
What about you?

I can hardly stomach the idea of opening a can. I bought fat free Miracle Whip so that maybe I'd eat some like dip. What about you? mandalinn82 12-06-2006, 07:09 PM I go through phases with everything. I periodically get tired of: -eggs/egg beaters -oatmeal -Kashi Go Lean -Basically, any breakfast food. I eat one for a month or so, then switch to another. -Tuna (I am with you on that one) northernbelle 12-06-2006, 07:27 PM I also go through phases when I turn off a food. I just let it be, and eventually come back to it. It's too difficult to make healthy choices if you are turned off that particular food. There are many, many choices to substitute. sweet_talker 12-06-2006, 08:36 PM - All-bran flakes - apples and oranges - having salad or the dressings at the cafeteria Lydia227 12-06-2006, 09:26 PM EGGS I can't even think about eating another egg white omelette right now. I relied upon eggs a lot for lunch when I didn't have a left over chicken breast from dinner the night before. Well, maybe if it is covered in tabasco sauce then maybe. But I think I would be looking for that protein powder in the pantry before I would entertain the idea of cracking open another egg this week. TUNA has never been a part of my eating plan. I know it is good for you but I still have flashbacks from my mother's tuna noodle casserole as a kid. :barf: BLECH. The only part I could eat were the crushed potato chips she would put on top. My mom isn't known for her culinary talents... But oatmeal and cottage cheese with cinnamon, splenda, and protein powder. I can't get enough of this for breakfast. For whatever reason, that works for me. I've been eating it for almost a year and look forward to it each morning. Sick, I know.:D BlueToBlue 12-06-2006, 09:56 PM Pork tenderloin. This is so easy to make and so low in calories, but I do definitely get tired of it, even the pre-seasoned ones. The serving size always seems a little small and it's low enough calories that I can practically double it and still be well within my calories but I've learned that this is a mistake. It always ends up being too much pork. I also get tired of fish in general. That fishy flavor can really get to me; sometimes I just need to take a break (except for sushi--I swear I could eat sushi morning, noon, and night and never get sick of it). Here are a couple of ideas for your tuna that might make it more interesting: Tuna mixed with mango (fresh is best, but frozen mango works as well), a very small amount of olive oil, cumin, and cilantro. Serve over avocado or in your fav low cal wraps. Tuna mixed with hummus and roasted eggplant in 1/2 pita. You can also add some tomatoes and cucumbers if you want. Tuna mixed with tomatoes, two types of beans (kidney, pinto, garbanzo, black, whatever you like best), grilled or raw onion, fresh oregano, basil, and cilantro, salt, pepper, and a dressing of dijon mustard and red wine vinegar. This is best if you wait until summer when you can get farmers market or home-grown tomatoes. I don't think it would be very good with grocery store tomatoes. Sadly I NEVER get tired of carbs, especially not breakfast cereal. I could also eat breakfast cereal morning, noon, and night along with my sushi. If I gave myself the chance, I could finish off an entire box in one sitting. Everyday when I finish my morning bowl of cereal I think "Oh no! Is that all there is? :( " And it's Kashi Go Lean, which doesn't even taste that good. But I still wish I could have more. Luckily, I also never get tired of fruits and veggies or chicken. :D jtammy 12-06-2006, 10:03 PM I tend to eat the same breakfast for several months, then get really tired of it. I've burnt out on red pepper omelets and plain yogurt with fruit. I'm in month four of oatmeal, and still enjoying it. I'm about to run out of breakfast ideas. Glory87 12-06-2006, 10:09 PM I am currently tired of the salad bar at work for lunch, I did it every day for a couple of months. I'm back to cup of soup, half a turkey sandwich for awhile. I'm also tired of veggie tacos! just_a_dreamy1 12-06-2006, 10:47 PM :p For the first time since I started eating better, I am getting sick of salad. I think the two reasons for it are: - Not enough variety, especially with the topping. I've been using the same combo of veggies, with tuna salad, for WAY too long.:dizzy: - Not filling enough at work. I always end up still hungry/hungry within a couple of hours. It also finally sank in that the iceberg lettuce I switched to is really rather tasteless. I want my romaine hearts back! Definately going to try more variety next time I go grocery shopping! hefty1 12-06-2006, 11:51 PM i'm tired restaraunts that don't serve lower fat foods and no veggies with meals. glen SlimLindy 12-06-2006, 11:59 PM I eat the same foods OVER AND OVER for months and then one day... I can't stand to touch it! For example, I had cottage cheese with (warmed up) frozen berries every day for breakfast for about six months. But I suddenly got tired of it and I haven't bought cottage cheese or berries in a LONG time. All summer I had a HUGE salad for lunch and dinner. I varied the veggies and protein that I added, but always had light ranch dressing mixed with chipotle tabasco. I had this so much that I bought the dressing and tabasco by the case (not joking)! I went through a couple cases of both! I don't think I've had a single salad since September, though. The thought of it is just... :barf: I also think I've finally overdone it on butternut squash. I love it, but I have actually twice eaten an entire large roasted butternut squash by myself in one day. Doesn't allow for a lot of other food intake and, boy oh boy, major bloat. But my nails and hair sure grew a lot from the Vitamin A during my squash phase! :D Lindy sweet_talker 12-07-2006, 12:54 AM  SlimLindy..That is a lot of squash, but I adore butternut squash, I think if I was in the right mood I might be able to scarf a whole one down in one sitting. Though, as I type this I am telling myself, "Carey, don't eat an entire squash!"...so it probably won't happen now. I remembered another couple: carrots and bananas. I usually try to switch up the fruits and veggies so that I don't get so sick of them that I get nauseous trying to eat healthy :p rockinrobin 12-07-2006, 07:09 AM I have only been doing this healthy eating thing since September 4, 2006. And I have thought about this often - what's gonna happen when I get sick and tired of cauliflower and grilled chicken cutlets and tuna and veggie burgers and so on and so on. I start getting in a panic and wondering how am I going to do this for life if I ever get tired of my staples? So that's why I'm always, always looking for new foods to incorporate into my meals. But I am already pretty tired of egg-white omlettes. Especially if they're plain. I very rarely eat it anymore. Someone said it earlier, BluetoBlue, why oh why is it that we never, ever get tired of carbs?? alinnell 12-07-2006, 08:50 AM Cold food.....berries, salads, apples, you name it. I start craving rich, creamy casseroles (not tuna noodle, though LOL!). I think a lot of it has to do with the weather. To me, winter time is time to forego salads and have warm food. Perhaps this has something to do with my recent gain (and I've only had one casserole in the past month!). jillybean720 12-07-2006, 09:24 AM I definitely find that I get tired of tuna pretty quickly. I only eat it in spurts--maybe for a week at a time every few months or so. I had tired of turkey sausage a while back, but I am back to eating it again., I just needed to give it a rest for a while. I get tired of eggs pretty quickly, too. I've tried all kinds of flavorings (veggies, salsa, spices, etc.), but I find the only way I really love eggs is with lots of cheese, which sort of defeats the purpose ;) I am definitely tired of the same Smart Ones meals over and over again. I had 2 favorite "Truth About Carbs" meals that I kept eating, and now it makes me ill to even think about eating them :dizzy: LLV 12-07-2006, 10:18 AM I burned myself out on canned salmon and veggie burgers (Boca, Morningstar Farms, etc). Although I DID buy some more Boca burgers just today to see if I could eat them again. It's been months. I also burned myself out on pita bread for a while, but I'm eating it again. Salad was another thing I couldn't even look at for about 3 months. I'll still have the occasional salad, but I don't eat them as often as I used to. Carrot sticks. Gross. Tired of carbs? Never! ;) NurseMichelle 12-07-2006, 02:41 PM I find I'm tired of fresh pineapple! Can you believe it!? I usually buy fresh fruit twice a week and there's really barely any fruit I want these days, pineapple, bananas, grapes, over and over again. So I switched to oranges and apples. I'm also kinda tired of the Lean Cuisine steak, mushroom, onion panini, only because I was eating those at least one a week!!!! I can't stomach eggs anymore, since I went through my Atkins years. I'm bordering on tiring of salad, but Romaine hearts are the best! Oh and oatmeal too, can barely think of eating oatmeal! I like this thread! LLV 12-07-2006, 05:24 PM I'm also kinda tired of the Lean Cuisine steak, mushroom, onion panini I got tired of the panini's too. But I still eat Lean Cuisines and Healthy Choice meals regularly. A new thing I tried recently from Lean Cuisine was the Brick Oven Style Pizza. I don't know about the other flavors, but the one I tried was the gourmet mushroom and it was HORRIBLE. I could only get about half of it down and had to pitch the rest out. The other flavors are roasted garlic chicken and BBQ chicken. Poop on all that weird stuff. When I want pizza, I want PIZZA. WaterRat 12-07-2006, 05:41 PM I am sick of all kinds of frozen meals - Smart Ones, Lean Cuisine, you name it. I finally tossed the 4 or 5 I had in the freezer. They'd been there so long they were freezer burned! Same with the fake ice cream. Skinny Cows get nasty when they've been in the freezer too long. I get tired of salads too, but usually go back to them pretty quickly. Strangely I'll eat someone else's (restaurant, etc) while I'm still tired of my own. The other thing I'm tired of is having only 3 restaurants (well, 4 if you count Chinese) in town to frequent for my regular Fri lunch with GF's. I know all of their "friendly" options - and I'm tired tired tired of them! BlueToBlue 12-07-2006, 06:08 PM I am definitely tired of the same Smart Ones meals over and over again. I had 2 favorite "Truth About Carbs" meals that I kept eating, and now it makes me ill to even think about eating them :dizzy Oh yeah, I definitely get tired of frozen meals! In fact, I got tired of them even before I was counting calories. LLV 12-07-2006, 08:20 PM I get tired of salads too, but usually go back to them pretty quickly. Strangely I'll eat someone else's (restaurant, etc) while I'm still tired of my own. Me too! lol I never did like that "fake" ice cream. Heck, it gets freezer burned even when it hasn't been in the freezer very long. I'm not a big ice cream eater anyway, but when I eat ice cream, I want the real stuff and just limit how much of it I eat. nomorefatpants 12-07-2006, 08:49 PM chicken... I never make it at home anymore because I can't find a healthy way to prepare it that doesn't completly mask the taste of it. I went through a phase where i had a chicken breast every day in college and i've been traumatized ever since. I'll still eat it, but generally it's when i'm out or someone else has prepared it. OnePerDecade 12-08-2006, 01:08 AM I am SOOOOOOO sick of boneless, skinless chicken breasts I could cry. I also burned out on cereal in the morning so I switched it up about 10 days ago to the SlimFast Optima shakes for b'fast & lunch. My body must have been sick of Special K & chicken too, since I've lost 7 lbs so far :) OnePerDecade 12-08-2006, 01:08 AM oops...double posted...so I guess I'll add in that I am also on the "no more eggs" bandwagon. I blame my former ill-fated love affair with Dr Atkins for that! lilybelle 12-08-2006, 02:42 AM I am tired of eggs, green beans and tuna. 2frustrated 12-08-2006, 04:20 AM I'm sick of chicken breasts and I've got a freezer stashed FULL of them! :( However I bought myself some Cajun seasoning and Chargrill Chicken spices, so I foreman'd one this morning and shall see what that's like in a pitta. I haven't anything else to eat, so I think I should be ok.... :dunno: I'm also burning out on vegetables at the moment - haven't had any proper veg in a week, but I still get my apples and pineapple in :T BlueToBlue 12-09-2006, 02:43 AM These days chicken is a staple for me at home. But there was a period in my life when I did a lot of speaking at seminars that included lunch. They almost always serve chicken for the lunch at these things and many the seminars were at moderate hotels, so the chicken often wasn't of the best quality. You know how disgusting it is when you bite into that hidden piece of chicken fat :barf:? And I was always eating with potential clients, so I couldn't spit it out. I swear, it darn near turned me off chicken for life. To this day, I rarely eat chicken that I haven't prepared myself (and I am fanatic about cutting off every last little piece of chicken fat). Mom2QJandT 12-09-2006, 05:35 AM A new thing I tried recently from Lean Cuisine was the Brick Oven Style Pizza. I don't know about the other flavors, but the one I tried was the gourmet mushroom and it was HORRIBLE. I could only get about half of it down and had to pitch the rest out. That is one of my favorite things! Just goes to show that we all have different tastes. I am so sick of yogurt. I eat enough yogurt that I should never, ever have any type of calcium deficiency. EVER. The brand that I eat (Weight Watchers) only comes in a few varieties, so there aren't a lot of choices there either. But for one point I eat it so slowly that it is a great breakfast, snack, or even dinner on nights where work has kicked my tail. Why is it that I never get sick of all the rotten fast food that I use to love so much? :?: srmb60 12-09-2006, 07:47 AM I haven't had yogurt in ages. I guess I got tired of that too. rockinrobin 12-09-2006, 08:10 AM About the chicken thing, I remember I was showing my then 17 year old daughter how to prepare and cook chicken and I was showing her how to clean the chicken and remove the fat and what not and she was pretty grossed out and said to me "Now I see why people become vegetarians". dollypie 12-11-2006, 05:11 PM I am pretty seasonal. At the end of summer I don't want to see another salad especially because you can't get fresh homegrown tomatoes after October. By the end of winter I am so tired of cabbage, broccoli, and cauliflower. I rotate yogurt, cottage cheese, and cheese sticks so I don't get tired of them. Also right now if you showed me another carrot stick I would throw it out a window! LLV 12-15-2006, 09:13 AM Sadly, I've burned myself out on quite a few vegetables. Especially carrots and broccoli. Sometimes I can still eat them, sometimes not. I have to REALLY be in the mood for it. Jasmine31 12-19-2006, 10:03 AM Amazingly I am actually not tired of anything! haha I rotate foods enough that I don't. My old standby for breakfast for like over a year now has been fruit. I progressed from one apple and maybe a banana every once in a while to making smoothies. I did pineapple, banana, apple for a while then switched in grapefruit and an orange and switched out the banana and the pineapple. I also add in blueberries as often as I can for the antioxidant qualities. I have recently realized the yogurts are either full of sugar or full of chemical sweetners so now I am eating plain yogurt but hated it so now I dump it in my smoothie! That or kefir. Has anyone else tried the kefir? Lunches I go thru phases of being paranoid of everything. For me it is not so much of what to eat as it is to what I am not too scared to eat! When I first started the journey I was eating top ramen or cup o noodles. I seen alot of fat so after a few months(and I was losing) I put them down. It had been like 5 months. I switched to something else. I picked up a package a few weeks ago when I was really wanting some soup and was floored at how many cals are in it! A serving is 200 cals for like half a package! I used to eat two packages for lunch!!!! 800 cals! Somewhere along the line I started doing slimfast for lunch, then switched to low carb slimfast cause of the sugar, and like a yogurt and a serving of total, or honey bunches of oats for a snack, no milk. Then I switched to sandwiches again and would have 2 slices of whole wheat bread with 1 tbs of peanut butter, or some tuna with 1 tsp of light mayo, or turkey lices with 1 slice of cheese. I have since nixed on the slimfast completely. I have one left I am saving for an emergency meal. haha But I just got to thinking what the heck all do they really put in those things? I am so trying to get back to food as unprocessed as possible and back to fresh from scratch stuff. All that added stuff just doesn't sound right over the long term. I switched to whole wheat bagels for a while with 1 tbs of lowfat cream cheese and loved it until I realized my eating was getting out of control out of the blue, I knew the bagels were triggering me and then found out about HFCS and realized it was in my bagels! I stopped that quick!! Now I use the ezekiel bread. Tuna: before I could even get on a kick about it, which I would actually love to do I got too worried about mercury posioning. :( Now I know they say it is safe up to two cans per week for my weight, but that is assuming that there are equal amounts of mercury in each can!! Is anyone else paranoid about this? Peanut butter: I absolutely adore. Especially the honey roasted one. Then I hear about it being : 1.They are frequently contaminated with a carcinogenic mold called aflatoxin 2. Peanuts are one of the most pesticide-contaminated crops *sigh* I still eat it about once a week but not as much as I'd like to. I never went on to big of a salad kick and had one maybe twice a month. I am trying to have one a few times a week now and am using romaine and have even added and don't mind, fresh spinach! Whoohooo!! Even a little watercress. Nuts: I have added in nuts as a snack and love them! Cashews and am trying to filter in some walnuts too. Okay back to what I am sick of. Hmmm...I was getting a little tired of so much chicken all the time, I still like it but we all needed a break! Then turkey day hit and I was reading how great that is for you so we decided to make another one like a week after turkey day and still have two more in the deep freezer. I also decided to start incorporating more pinto and red beans into our diet. I mean like 4 times a week instead of the once a week. Beans are good for you and I make spanish rice out of the brown rice. I went and bought ground turkey and started putting that in our chile beans! We even had turkey tacos with taco seasoning one nite and everyone loved it. LLV 12-19-2006, 11:17 AM Peanut butter: I absolutely adore. Especially the honey roasted one. Then I hear about it being : Oh poo, if we listened to all of the warnings about most foods, we'd just stop eating altogether. However, since the E. Coli outbreak in the spinach, I haven't bought it since. I stay away from bagged salads as well. But that's pretty much the only thing I avoid. I was chatting with a cashier at my local grocery store not too long ago and she said they rarely sell bagged spinach anymore. In fact, according to her, people aren't even buying the bunch spinach. LittleElectron 12-30-2006, 02:19 PM I love canned tuna. I seriously, seriously, seriously love it. There was one week where I had over 22 servings of canned tuna. And I still wanted more. I got paranoid about the mercury poisoning, so I limit myself. But I don't see myself ever getting sick of it. What I *am* sick of is apples. It's the only fruit we have in the house, and I have at least one everyday. I don't want to look at them anymore. vBulletin® v3.6.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
