Hi Everone- Does anyone know why the counselors wear those white lab coats @ the COD? I was too embarrased to ask. :o Thanks.:)

The white lab coat suggests a person has medical schooling. Dr's have worn them forever. Think about old movies, tv, even Norman Rockwell paintings.... We all grew up associating that white coat with respect and knowledge. When I did NutriSystem YEARS ago the staff all wore them too. It's subliminal suggestion at it's best........ or worst? ;)

I asked why, and the answer I got makes sense. The owners wanted to give some sort of uniformity to the staff. Before, you really couldn't tell who was working there or not. So, lab coats was the easiest way. I suggested they wear the smocks from Wal-Mart. The higher ups didn't like that idea. So much for "the customer is always right".

At my COD, the manager and assistant manager have to wear suits and keep their suit jacket on all the time, buttoned up. The staff wears the lab coats to differentiate them from management and clients.

Sorry but coming from a family of dr's I just don't think it's right. They are not dr's and should not pretend to be. IF they are educated in nutrition, sometimes I wonder then they should just dress maybe in an LA weight loss smock, not a dr's coat. Personal opinion. I'll shut up. I know I am verbal.....;)
