Morning :sunny:

Fresh start for me this morning!

12-04-2006, 10:36 AM
Robin:  Have a good day!

Well, I need to quit going on the scale so much. It was up a pound so I was disappointed...then realised there's NO reason for it to be up and to just quit going by the scale so much. So I'm 1 weekend cheat free for a change!! WAHOO!!

WATP= Walking Away The Pounds (exercise video by Leslie Sansone)

12-04-2006, 11:06 AM
Hi everyone, I'm getting ready to take DD for her Gallbladder ultrasound this morning.
It is 24degrees outside and I'm freezing.
I am back on program with my eating and exercise. Not quite there with the water. All I seem to want is coffee.
Robin, WTG on getting a fresh start.
Brenda, WTG on the cheat free weekend.
I weighed yesterday and scale is still down, so my wt. is doing OK.

Robin: Good luck - be tough.

Lilly: Hang in there, things have to get better. Hope all goes well with DD.

Well, believe it or not, I spent the night being granny's sitter last night. A no fall night I might add. She falls about once a day. Did my part. She of course has a kitchen full of food (you know, southern tradition, when the chips are down send a casserole). I successfully avoided peach cobbler, chicken and dumplins (oh God that was hard), veggie soup, mashed potatoes, slaw (sweetened of course), cookies, chocolate cake... I did eat a piece of meatloaf - it didn't even have ketchup on top and didn't taste sweet, so I think it was a good choice. It took literally all the willpower I have. She thinks she always just HAS to feed me. phew. I go back in a few days for my next turn. Must prepare myself. This time I took a salad and a couple snacks along - must do the same again!

You GO with your Fresh-Start Self, robin! I'm Fresh-Starting too - on my exercise goals - I've got the low carb eating plan under control (for now LOL!:D ) . . . but this ice storm has been a convenient excuse to slow down on intentional exercise.:(

I did make an effort yesterday, as my RAMS lost to the worst team in the league  - to do floor exercise for almost an hour! Then, when our Playoff Hopes/Season Ended - I walked 12 blocks to blow off steam. Not sure if ye olde heart rate got up - 'cause I had to be so careful on the ice - but it sure cleared my head.

I had a no-cheat weekend too brendanerb - and getting my PSYCHED back on! I've seen you mention "WATP" a lot - as have others here @ 3FC - it must be a good walking thing? I listen to audio books from the library - whether I'm walking or in the gym cause I need my mind to go ELSEWHERE. Thinking though- that I may need to pick it up a bit when I walk/heart rate etc. Do you recommend this WATP?

I'm coffee'ing up lately too lilyb - think its the cold - we're freezing here too! Will be thinking of you and DD today - glad your scale is down! I'm gonna WI at the gym tonite and also Friday, I think. Don't want to rely on it too much - or let it affect my moods either - but am so curious right now!

One more thing - WTG ArkieKel!! :carrot: Not sure if I could be strong enuf to resist my granny & goodies at this point and admire you for doing so!

Hi everyone.

I hate weighing myself. Because everytime I see the scale go down a couple more lbs. I think, "well, I'm way below my goal, so I can afford to eat more". Then the lbs. come right back and I'm back in the same shape. I do best to only weigh once a week, because then I'm more careful in between times to eat healthy and exercise and not feel entitled to over-indulge. So I need to stay off the EVIL scale. I must be a slow learner at this maintenance thing.
I took my DD for her Ultrasound today. She wanted to eat lunch out and I immediately thought "OH, I love this mexican restaraunt close by". Then I told myself "NO, that would screw up the loss that you have been seeing on the scale". So we ate at a buffet and I stuck to baked chicken, cabbage and cottage cheese. I need to tell myself "NO" more often.

Kel, WTG on resisting grandma's food. I love chicken and dumplins and so do my kids. I have to still make them for them sometimes and I sit there all pitiful eating a piece of baked chicken while they eat them.

Aud, WTG on that exercise. I'm getting back on track with my exercise too. So , off to the treadmill I go.

12-05-2006, 04:57 AM
So much for good intentions . . . as in intentional exercise!:dizzy: One thing after another ALL night . . . one meeting after another - didn't even get my 10,000 steps in - much less make it to the weight room! :(

Bright side?

Hmmmm . . . scale was down two pounds . . . and the last time I lost weight over a weekend, DINOSAURS roamed the earth - so yeah, that's a bright side!:D :D

Another bright side - I've got my cravings under control - lc lifestyle mojo going full swing!:) *knock on monitor* For those keeping score of the "Aud's Insecure Husband Game Show" at home: There's a chocolate layer cake on our kitchen counter at the almost 3am moment--wasn't there when I left.:chin:

Hub Saboteur =

Hub Saboteur =

aud = :snooty:

Have a Great Morning Chicks!:carrot:

 too funny! Thanks for the giggle this morning aud!! Hubby's can be very strange when it comes to this stuff. I had a husband like that, the only time he seemed to calm down from his efforts was when he got extra attention ;) I truly believe thats what they need....they need to know you arent going to leave them when you get skinny. If they keep you fat, you wont go anywhere. I dont get the logic in it....but its what they do. :dunno: So, keep up with your efforts, you're doing great!!

Not much new around here....dd gave me a new christmas list. I think I did pretty good, now I'll pass the list on to her uncle, and grandparents  I didnt tell her Im about finished....that would inspire snooping. :mag:

Eating is good, exercise is awful...its just too cold out!! I dont want to go anywhere. I think I should dust off some of my old workout tapes. :exercise: That way I get to stay infront of the fireplace, and stay warm :D

Well, have a great day ladies!

12-05-2006, 09:40 AM
Lily: Hopefully you find out soon the results of the test for your DD. I hear you on the scale! I think it's great you're below your goal and maintaining it. Keep up the great work :)

Kel: WTG on not eating Granny's food. The willpower you had was awesome!! Keep up it up! :)

Aud: Keep away from the cake. And he's not going to learn overnight! I wish they did sometimes, but they don't. WTG on the weight loss! For beginning exercising I DEFINITELY would recomment the WATP tapes. It comes with 3 tapes (not sure if they've progressed to DVD's for that or if it's still VHS), & a stretchy band (DEFINITELY get the stretchy band one). There's a 1, 2, & 3 mile WATP in the set. You'll DEFINITELY feel the 1 mile if you're not used to exersizing (I always do)...but don't jump up too fast (I always do  ). I would love to have a DVD version of mine!!

Robin: What type of tapes do you have to workout to? And great to hear the eating is good :) Wish my DD's would give me a list that didn't have stuff over $100 on it!! They're going to be surprised this year as to what LITTLE they're going to get at that rate!!!!

Getting a little discouraged w/the scale (I know. STAY OFF IT). I also don't "feel" like I'm losing weight. When I first started Atkins (in '04 I believe) the weight seemed to just fly off me at first w/no effort (except what I ate) on my part. Now it seems I can watch what I eat and exercise and nothing's happening...not even inches lost. Trying not to get discouraged too much that I binge on junk (almost happened last night. Had an "emotional" night which usually leads to junk eating. I DID eat a couple oranges. Figured it was better/healthier than the chips I was eyeing). I haven't exercised since last week either. No ambition. Hopefully in the next day or two I can pick it up again--just not as full speed as I was trying to do it. Slow and steady this time (maybe). *Goes off to mope*

Good Morning Ladies

12-05-2006, 12:38 PM
Hi everyone, Today marks 5 months of maintenance for me. I am so happy. This is the longest time I have ever maintained any wt. loss. My highest wt. has been 147 and lowest was 136. I weighed today and am exactly 140. I want to thank each of you for the support and encouragement. I couldn't have done it alone. I still need you all, so you're stuck with me.

aud, my DH doesn't try to sabotage my wt. loss. Quite the opposite, he's the food police. I don't know which is worse. He looks at me like I'm nuts if I ever eat anything that isn't on program.

12-05-2006, 01:07 PM
Wow Lily, that time has certainly flown by for still seems like you just got there. Great job keeping ontop of things tho, thats a huge accomplishment!

Brenda~ I have a couple Kathy Smith cardio tapes and interval training, pilates for dummies  ball workout, and I think one other pilates dvd (really covered in dust)

12-05-2006, 01:36 PM
Thanks Robin, it does seem like I just reached goal a few days ago. But, nope it was July 5th.

I'm sitting here putting off the bill paying, but gotta get to it, so hope everyone has a great day. I'll be busy for next several hrs.

12-05-2006, 02:17 PM

Thank in advance!:)

'Morning All!

LOL @ the "had a hub like that," robin!:D I think the sight of me doing the ab work out during the Football Game drove him over the chocolate cake baking edge - I wanted to shout at the top of my 3am snoring household lungs:

"I WEIGH 233 POUNDS YOU MORON!!!!!"

But didn't.

Came here to 3FC - ate some sfjello & whipped cream. ZZZzzzzzzzzzz!;)

Food is such a "control issue," isn't it lilyb? Not just with myself - but seeing it now with DH AND a visiting sister over the weekend. So saboteur OR food police - all about control. I remember someone pointing that out b4 in our chats and BOY is it so true!

Feeling like a dork - when I saw the word "tape" - I was thinking that WATP could be done on cassette as I actually walked! Duh!:o It's a VIDEO set, right brendanerb? You do it on a treadmill, or what?

I've currently got a Yoga vid that I like and some kind of Thunder Abs/Thighs Blast vid that I've never done. Inspire to dust them off too - over the weekend.

ok - I've got the chocolate cake under control. Don't even want any of the dayum thing - sooooooo, we've GOT to get bnerb's fruit snacking bootay under wraps!:gossip: First it was RAISINS and now ORANGES????????:frypan: Holy Mother of Dr. Atkins!!!!:yikes:

I've had a lot of luck having things in the house that are just for ME. I've sort of given myself "permission" to eat as much of these things as I want - even if its a CRAZY amount. Things like:

pork rinds & sour cream
celery (de-ribbed) & french onion dip
jello and yummy Land O' Lakes 0 Sugar Spray Can Whipped Cream
cauliflower with cream cheese sauce

I'd love to hear from lilyb on what she did when the Snack Attacks hit - was it fruit or veggies? Potato chips or Pork rinds?

I'm not losing as fast as I remember losing on Atkins b4 bnerb, I'm blaming menopause metabolism - but DID see a significant difference when I was working out with weights. Gonna aim for that goal - the important thing to me is now is that I feel so GOOD - gonna keep focussing on that fact & let the scale fall where it may.

PS to robin:

"Pilates for Dummies"

;) :D

Seriously - what DO you think of Pilates? I know next to nothing about it - but since I currently am unable to contort this 233 pound mass into anything even resembling a Yoga Pose (my Downward Dog looks like the BUFFALO on the old time nickels!) . . . I'm wondering if I could get some stretching/strength with Pilates?:?:

You know how we have an Exercise Thread Sticky for December with the dates handy?

How 'bout having something like a "December Daily Menu's" STICKY--
(or whatever) - for our daily Breakfast/Lunch/Supper/Snacks? In a similar format as the Exercise Thread.

The long separate, long Threads we have now are brutal on my dial-up loading and I think having the MONTH in one long sequence of dates would be Totally Faboo just to glance at to get Meal Ideas, Snacking Ideas from our Fellow Posters!:)

Whattya think?

12-05-2006, 03:48 PM
I'm here, I'm here! Lost it over the weekend (which then spread into Monday) but I had a plan and came home for lunch to eat LOW CARB food today. So I'm back.

12-05-2006, 04:02 PM
aud, I did use a lot of fruit since starting Atkins. For some reason it didn't hurt my wt. loss. I would eat a lot of fresh pineapple, cantalope and watermelon. Occasionally and apple, orange or banana. I have eaten literally tons of pork rinds. I also like fresh veggies with ranch dip. Anytime that I had fruit, I tried to be reasonable and not eat a bunch of fried bacon or sausage that day. Sort of cut the fat that day to make up the difference, if that makes any sense. I also use sugar-free jello with the spray whipped topping a lot. I grabbed for lunch meat and string cheese a lot. Canned chicken and tuna salad always helped. Deviled eggs. Over time, through trial and error I learned what my body could handle. Plus, WAlK, WALK, WALK worked for me.

Sherry, glad to see you're back to low-carb.

aud, I think that's a good idea on a meal thread, it's hard to remember to post in 3 separate places.

I very much dislike pilates, or any other exercise that uses my own body weight for resistance. BUT, it really is easy if you start at the very beginning. If you have netflix or some other mail order dvd thingy like maybe can order the dvd's from there and see if you like them before buying. Thats what I did, I was very happy I did that. There are too many out there that dont give alternative exercises to the hard stuff :dizzy: Now I said it was easy, yes it really is, and you might think, hey this isnt so bad until the next'll be surprised the sore muscles you have.

Good Morning :coffee:

Kel

Not much happening in my little corner of the world....thinking about putting up my tree, and dragging all the decorations down from the attic.

Been busy with work, we received an order for 42 shirts yesterday :cb: Even got a bunch of t's done for my brother for xmas, with his fav sayings "Go away!", "Why are you buggin' me?" and...."yah, I eat fruit loops, you got a problem with that?" Picture a guy with a nickname of Tank, wearing that shirt  thats my brother :D

Eating is ok, exercise still isnt happening. Ive got to get my rear in gear.

Have a great op day ladies.

12-06-2006, 11:48 AM
Lily, How is your daughter doing and how did her tests turn out? You mentioned that she once had heart surgery. Is her health not too good? That must be awful at age 14. I'm always thankful when the kids are well. My 23 yr old dd who is pregnant was having some extra beats but it seems to have gone away. She is due April 24th.

12-06-2006, 02:37 PM
Hi everyone, I'm having problems at home again. My 14 yr. old DD left a note in her bedroom floor that is very depressing. I have an appt. at 5PM today to take her for mental health evaulation to see if she needs inpatient or outpatient treatment. She is at school right now and I'm going to pick her up at 2:30 so she doesn't get on the bus. I am very worried about her. She has been withdrawn lately and doesn't ever seem to be happy.

carol, she did have heart surgery at 8 yrs. old and hiatal hernia repair at 9 yrs. old. Her biggest complaint now is right sided pain but her gallbladder ultrasound didn't show any stones.

12-07-2006, 09:15 AM
I thought I posted yesterday but from the looks of it...must have just run & ran. Odd of me. Well, I'm out of the loop now as there's so many people that posted I'll just pop in, say I'm here & ok and OP (but not enough water). TOM is coming soon so I'm not looking forward to that. Ok...time for me to run again.

12-07-2006, 10:08 AM
Good Morning Cuties

12-07-2006, 10:27 AM
Good Morning :coffee:

Its snowing like crazy here right now. :snowglo: I'll have to dig out the shovel soon!

Lily, hopefully this is just a faze she is going thru. When I was 15 I went thru a very bad depression. Probably something I should have been medicated for. But back then not much was done about that sort of thing. for your dd, and hopefully its nothing serious.

Not very much happening around here, doing a bit of work, but thats about it.

Have a great day ladies.

12-07-2006, 11:28 AM
Thanks everyone. Her evaluation went OK and she will be having out-patient counseling for depression. She was mad at me for taking her, but she seems to be OK now. I think she is going to be fine, but does need to talk more about her problems and not keep them bottled up.

I am staying on-program with my eating. Yesterday was hard, but I managed OK. Tonite we are going to step-daughters graduation from RN school. It is 20 degrees here and I have to wear a dress. I don't have any dress slacks that would fit. My exercise has been nil for the last couple days.

12-07-2006, 12:35 PM
Just wanted to say Hi to everyone here. Just got back from a week in Pittsburgh with DBF:D . I ate on plan but, was a bit concerned because we went to dinner one evening at Texas Road House & another evening at Carrabba's. Both places were delicious. I had grilled salmon with green beans & salad at Texas Road House and Chicken Bryan (grilled chicken breast with fontina cheese & sun dried tomato's with a lemon garlic butter sauce) asparagus in butter with parmesan cheese and ceasar salad (DBF ate croutons) at Carrabba's. When I got home last nite, I stepped on the scale and I managed to lose 3 lbs!! 2 lbs passed my goal!!!:carrot:

12-07-2006, 12:39 PM
WTG Kim, that is fantastic. You have done so great. I'm happy for you.

12-07-2006, 12:54 PM
Thanks Lilybelle, I appreciate your kind words. You've done great too!!

12-07-2006, 10:22 PM
Hello All.

I have been missing in action that past week. Just finished the school term yesterday woo hoo. I'm not sure if I mentioned it but I am in graduate school (getting my MFA in playwriting) and also teach college english so this is a very busy time of year. I am so glad it is over.

Anyway, my eating has been all over the place. I was pretty disappointed that I only lost 4 lbs on my 2 weeks of induction. I was letter perfect with my eating so I don't know why it was so bad. Oh well.

I am going to my folks house for the holidays. I leave on the 14th and won't be back until the 29th. I'm doing as well as possible until I leave but know it will be difficult to stay completely on track while I am at their house. I plan to hit it hard once I get back.

Hope everyone is having a great day. :D

12-08-2006, 01:31 AM
 Hello everyone, you are all doing well.

I had to stop the using the internet at work and today I finally got my wireless air card for my laptop, it is great.

I have been doing great with the eating, my cloths are starting to get loose, I donít have scale cause I like to go by my cloths. Work has been very stressful but my team is very supportive, anytime I have an Atkins Bar someone always says are you supposed to be eating that and I gladly show them the wrapper.

Im on day # 28 and Iím still trying to stay with in 20 carbs a day

I just finished my finals this week and it is time for a break. Actually on Saturday I am taking a vacation.. Iím going to Aruba. My parents own a time share there and they are flying from CT and meeting me in NC and we are flying together. It will be so much fun.

Lily- I hope everything goes well with your DD, she will be in my prayers.

Everyone seem to be doing great with their plans, keep up the good work!

I will talk to you all soon

12-08-2006, 02:30 AM
Kim, you are very welcome.

Beth, WTG on finishing up shool for the semester. My step-daughter graduated RN school tonite. It went well.

Holly, have a great time on vacation, that sounds fun.

12-08-2006, 09:33 AM
Mornin' :coffee:

Ever wish sugar never existed??????????????? It would be so much easier if it didnt. Its the only thing I really crave *insert a great big sigh*

Dh took me for supper last night, because I just didnt want to cook.......and he didnt want to cook the steaks on the grill. So he opted to take me out. We went to Famous Daves BBQ was pretty darn good. Definitely a do-again, but not until I get these sugar cravings under control. Still not as good as Dinosaur BBQ in rochester, but a definite 2nd choice when we dont want to do the drive.

So, today is another start over :dizzy:

12-08-2006, 11:34 AM
Leenie:

Robin: How much snow did you get?

Kim: WTG on the awesome job you did with your weight loss!

Beth: Just do the best you can. Holidays are hard, aren't they?!

Holly: Have fun in Aruba!!

Robin:  Hard to stay OP while busy, eh? You can do this though!!

Well, I broke down and had 2 oranges last night. I'm sure that's why the scale is up again (well, I had been down a total of 5 pounds yesterday. But now I'm back to only a 3 pound loss). TOM coming doesn't help I'm sure. 2nd season gun hunting (what's called T-Zone here) started yesterday but it was too dang cold to hunt. I'm hoping it warms up today because I DEFINITELY want my butt out there. I'll just make sure to bring the sterno to keep the hunting tent warm  Eating is OP (except the oranges) so I need to concentrate on the water. I'll work in the exercise later. I did go downstairs and lift weights for a few minutes. I don't do much as my shoulders are weak and my wrists are even weaker. So the little I do is a start :)

12-08-2006, 12:38 PM
I went to my step daughters RN graduation pinning last night. It was nice. My DH's XW was there. Always a joy to see her. She was dressed in a green tank top , a brown mini skirt and leather boots. We all had a good laugh over this. When she bent over the church pew to kiss her mother, she mooned half the church. LOL. I used to hate seeing her when she had lost 100 lbs. and I was nearly 100 lbs. overweight, but the tables are turned now, she has refound hers. I looked and felt great and it's one of the times that makes it all worthwhile. LOL

12-08-2006, 12:44 PM
only about 4 inches, then it all melted the next day. Not even close to the 6-12 inches they were calling for. But its snowing as I type.

12-08-2006, 12:56 PM
Lily, You sould post a picture of your black outfit you wore to the nursing ceremony. We could all use some inspiration this time of year.

12-08-2006, 01:37 PM
carol, my MIL brought the digital camera and her battery went dead, so I didn't get a pic. I wish I had. I felt very good in my outfit. I wish I had taken my own camera.

12-09-2006, 11:10 AM
I spent my day yesterday sewing my son's new rank patches on his military uniforms. It was definitely a pain in the keister. He had taken them to our nearby alteration shop twice this week and they were closed. So, good old mom got the job. LOL. I got them finished. He's marching in some parade in them today with all his Army unit.

My eating has been on program but I need to follow through on exercise. I've had a lot going on and let my exercise slip. It is still very cold here. I'm a coffee addict.

12-09-2006, 12:41 PM
Hi All!:)

Had the Week from **** . . . no time to catch up . . . long story short/startling insight:

Binge Eating/Carb Loading didn't help the situation and I feel like crud even tho' he's better.

Hope everyone is well - ttyal.

12-10-2006, 07:02 AM
Good Morning and Happy Sonday ;)

12-10-2006, 03:44 PM
Hi everyone. Hope it's a great day for all. I'll be spending all evening helping my DD catch up Algebra assignments. I hope I remember how to do it. I'm old and forgetful. LOL.
