HO, HO, HO---
This is my favorite holiday of the year. I like to do something fun every single day of December.
If you are new here, please come in and join us. We all want to be healthier, slimmer Chatters.
Let's do something different this time, in honor of all the holidays celebrated this month. Why don't we post favorite recipes.
I'm always wanting something different. Maybe there is something you cook that's native to your area.
What do y'all think???!!!???
Have a safe and happy weekend.

December already!! I'll have to think about the favorite recipes. I really don't use many recipes, I just dump things together when I make them. Tim wants recipes for different things, so I guess I'll have to actually do some measuring to do that for him. lol
Susan, the temperatures that you had the other day sounds like ours! Today is pretty nice though. The sun is shining, and it is much warmer and less windy than yesterday. We'll add your dad's surgery to our prayers.
Bob called from southern Georgia a while ago. He was standing outside in short sleeves. He is making good time, no traffic problems, and I think he misses me already!!
I need to get busy. I've done nothing today except read, nap, and be on the computer. Our tree is still 1/2 naked, so I'd like to finish it up tonight. I honestly don't know if I'll get the 4 ft. trees up or not. I'm failing in my love of trees. I only have 3 up this year. 1 large and 2 tiny ones. When we moved, I knew that I wouldn't have as much room, so I did sell one of the large trees at the auction. I also threw away one of the tiny ones. It was getting as bad as Charlie Brown's tree. lol
Hope you are all having a great weekend!!

Hope everyone has had a great Saturday. It's hard to believe that it's December already. Where has time gone? It's flying by!!!! I love Christmas too.
I think I told you that we got a tree and put it up the weekend before Thanksgiving. First tree in 2 years so I think it's ok that it went up a little early. I've done some shopping via the internet. I don't like getting out in the crowds.
I had a busy day, exercised at 8, hair colored at 10, bone density scan at 12, mammogram at 12:30. Came home thinking I would rest, and Pat was cleaning so I started doing that too.
Tina, I like the idea of recipes. I'll have to think of some too.
Tammy, I wish I put up 2 trees but I don't know where I would put a second one. We just have a big open room with the kitchen & den. We don't have a living room. I probably would have put a small one in Seamus' room.
Where is everyone?
12-02-2006, 10:51 PM
"Where is everyone" is right! We miss our members when they don't post in ages!
Susan, I didn't remember about you putting up a tree. I am sooooo glad you did. That continues your healing process. Good for you!
Tammy, I've always liked your tradition of so many trees. Please don't stop it. Do you have a little one just for Kramer? That would be cute.
Smokey had his own fabric, stuffed ornament that he played with. It's going to really hurt, when I see it. (We're putting up our tree next weekend.)
I hope everyone finds this December thread.
12-03-2006, 11:32 AM
It's beautiful here but a little chilly! I'm going to the gym about 1 for a spin class. I did it last week and loved it. It burned a lot of calories. I'm going to start trying to that a couple of days a week.
Tammy, I agree with Tina, your tradition of putting up the trees is neat. I have always thought that was a neat idea. How many days until retirement?
Tina, I feel like I've made a big step in my grieving with the tree. I was even excited about putting it up. We bought a fake one with lights on it this year. Hopefully it will help my allergies too. But we put it up as soon as we got it. Pat puts it up and then my job is to decorate it.
We've even talked a little about Seamus'. He had Pat's long fingers and toes. We've always said "Pat has monkey toes" and discussed how Seamus had monkey toes like his Daddy. It's really the first time Pat has talked about him. :) It made me feel good.
Hope everyone has a great day.
12-03-2006, 06:09 PM
Hello, Happy December!
I had to work this weekend and we had our holiday parties. I am going to work intermittently for the next two weeks. I hope to have the house ready for Santa. Don't want him stepping on barbie shoes or legos in the middle of the night. ;)
I usually put up my New England Village (Dept. 56). But this year I decided not too. I really will get that going next year when DS is five. It's been hard enough with DD using the nativity people in her barbie house.
I am glad you were both able to talk about Seamus...I think the tree is a great idea. Angels are an important part of the Christmas Story.
Tina, the recipe thing is a good idea, I will have to think of some.
Tammy, Bob will be 4 hours from me. Hope the Florida traffic doesn't bother him. Is he going down 75?
12-03-2006, 07:43 PM
Susan, I've done shopping online also. Amazon is one of my best friends!! lol By the way, I think it would still be ok to put up a small tree in Seamus's room. I agree with Tina about the healing. It takes time. I am so glad that Pat is talking about him! That is a big step too.
I told Tim today that I don't know if I'll get the 4ft. trees up. He insisted that they have to be up. He said if I don't fell good enough to do it, he'll put them up when he gets home on the 17th. I told him that is so late to put them up, but we'll see. From where I am sitting, I can see the large tree in the dining/living room and the tiny tree on top of the refrigerator. If I lean around the corner, I can see the tiny one on the table in the foyer. Tim's room looks awfully dark, so I think I'll have to get that one up for sure. I do have a large wreath out on the porch that is lit. It was my mother's. It is looking pretty bad since it is so old, but I guess we're the only ones that are close enough to see it. We don't have a tree for Kramer. He keeps sniffing the packages under the tree though.
Dee, I laughed out loud when I read that about the legos. Boy can I relate!! Or I used to anyway!! Legos were Tim's big thing as a little boy. Tim has some buildings that light up, but we don't have them up yet. Not sure we'll get to that. LOL to the nativity people being used in the Barbie house! Too funny!!! We bought Tim a nativity set when he was little. All of the people are children in it. It's pretty cool.
I'll tell Bob to wave in your direction. Yes, he was on 75. It is about 25 minutes from our house, and he just took it all the way south. He may have taken by-passes around a couple of cities, but I'm not sure. His hotel is on Dale-Mabry in Tampa. When you go out the back exit of the hotel, you go about 6 blocks and it's his brother's street.
Bob called earlier today, and I was at Muncie with Tim at the mall! I made some cookies and drove over to give them to Tim and his roommate. We went to the mall and then out to eat at Damons. Yummy!! He won't be home until the 17th. He has exams until the 15th, then he has to work Fri. and Sat. night that weekend.
I have 53 days of school left, but I'll be there much less since I'm only going 3 days a week.
12-03-2006, 08:00 PM
Tammy, I might go get a little tree for Seamus' room. Everytime I go in there I think, you know I need to get his comforter hung up. I'm going to hang it up. I sat in the rocking chair in there yesterday morning. I was so comforting. I bought my rocker back in 1988 with money from when my grandmother died. I said "one day I would rock my baby in it and tell him stories about her." Now she is rocking him and tell him stories about his momma.
I feel like I've made major strides in my grieving. I was talking to my doctor about going off my antidepressant and she said "Nope, we'll discuss it in the spring"
I glad that Pat talked a little about him. He doesn't say anything. He is so quiet and reserved about his feelings. What a man!!!!
Dee, I laughed when I read about Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus being in your daughter's barbie house. That is so cute!
Tina, How are you doing my friend?
Pat said tonight "where are my Christmas cookies?" Guess I'll be making them next week. He actually likes the cookies my mom makes! I'll have to tell her. It will tickle her.
12-03-2006, 09:25 PM
Oh Susan, I am so glad you might get a tree for his room! I have to tell you what I did after my parents passed away. We knew we were going to do remodeling and have an auction there in the spring of '99 and move in after that was all done. I couldn't stand to see the house without a treein Dec. '98, so I put up their huge tree right in the front window. I had it on a timer so it would come on about 5:30 am and go off after it got light out, then it came on again late afternoon and was on until midnight. No one was there, and the place had boxes everywhere, but having the tree up made me feel better. The counselor at the Hospice Grief Group that I went to was thrilled to find out that I did it. She felt that was a big step in the healing since that was our first Christmas without our parents. I know it meant alot to my brothers too, although one never mentioned it to me, but his wife did.
Don't push going off the meds. I've tried it a few times, and it's like a disaster waiting to happen for me. My doctor thought maybe we'll try it again after my retirement is official.
I have to hunt up my sugar cookie recipe. It was my grandma's recipe, and I try to make them every year. Last year I used the Splenda blend for baking, and they turned out great!
I just found some ornaments in the garage! I was in tears yesterday because I thought that that box must have ended up in the auction. It has ornaments from the different places where we've vacationed, so I really didn't want to lose those.
I am planning to put a tree up on the enclosed porch. The wreath has white lights on it out there, so the tree I put out there will have white lights also.
Is is bad for me to say that I don't want to go to school tomorrow? I am just so busy while I'm there. From the time the kids get there until they leave, I'm on the go. I do get lunch, but some days it isn't even 15 minutes. I'm supposed to have a break every day too, but I don't have time for one! I'm the one who made up the schedule, so I can only blame myself. I just want to help these kids as much as I can before I retire.
Sure wish everyone else would post!!!! HINT!!!!
12-03-2006, 09:41 PM
That's neat about the tree! You should take the day off tomorrow!!!!! You have the days so take one!
12-03-2006, 09:59 PM
Okay, okay----two of you are talking about recipes. I want to see them here! :D
Susan, putting up a tree in there would be so great.
Dee, just take a broom and push every toy into a corner and put a chair in front of it.
Tammy, you definitely have our permission to stay home. After all, Bob is gone and someone must stay home to keep Kramer company. so there!!!
I'm so glad you found those ornaments.
And, go ahead and let Tim put up at least one tree when he gets home. It will give him good memories of home.
Maureen, Mimi, Sis, Amy, Jody, Brandy, and the list goes on and on and on....what has everyone done over the weekend. Tina wants to know. ;)
12-04-2006, 06:53 AM
You guys are very convincing. I just emailed that I won't be at school. It's almost too easy to not go in. No plans to write out for a sub is the best part. I'm sure Kramer would thank you for encouraging me to stay home with him. lol
I decided last night as I was trying to get to sleep, that I'm rearranging the trees. The little one on the refrigerator is going to go to Tim's room. It has always been in his bedroom, so that's where it's going to go. The little one in the foyer is going to go on top of the refrigerator. I'm going to put a 4 ft one in the foyer. I'm putting my mother's candle lights on it, red balls, gold garland, and my crystal ornaments. It is always so pretty. I used to decorate one of my large trees with those, but there isn't room for another large one. Now I have to decide about the porch tree. I have colored lights that I bought. I planned to put clear ones on the porch tree because the wreath out there has clear lights. Wonder if it would look ok if the tree out there had colored lights. Maybe I'll save that tree for Tim to do.
I think I'll go start a load of laundry, and make a list of things to do for today! Thanks for convincing me!!
12-04-2006, 05:20 PM
Ok. I now have a tree lit up on the porch. I'm not sure what color the lights are! lol Gold? Yellow? Anyway, it looks pretty. Official count: 1 large tree, 2 four ft. trees, 2 two ft. trees. I kept thinking, where are my others? But I know that I threw one away because it looked so yucky, and I had to get rid of the other large one in the auction. Gosh. Only 5 trees this year. Sad, isn't it?
I sure didn't expect to get as much done today as I did, but I'm glad. I did some laundry, and then I started sorting stuff. We've had some boxes in the garage that needed to be sorted. Right now I have junk all of the washer and dryer, but I have pitched a boatload of stuff. I do better when Bob and Tim aren't here. I think they'll both be surprised when they look in the cupboard in the garage. There is actually shelf space in there!!!
Now we need to hit the storage unit and go through that stuff. I know there is a box with books and records in it. I have no idea why we haven't brought that to the house, so tomorrow I plan to get it. I'm capable of putting books on bookshelves. Most of the records are mine, so I plan to go through them and sort them out. A friend of Bob's said he could sell some of them on Ebay for me. Sounds good to me.
Bob called. I think he is ready to come home already. His older brother is driving him crazy. It is a good thing he isn't staying at his house. His other brother (a few years younger than Bob) is living there right now, so he and Bob have been spending some time together. He moved down there last spring.
Water aerobics tonight. Looking forward to it.
12-04-2006, 05:44 PM
Wow, someone named, Tammy, had a very productive day.
Only 5 trees! Well, I guess that'll have to do this year.
I went for my mammogram this afternoon. Ouch!
This was the nicest looking, older lady but, boy, I hope I never have her again. I'm glad this is only once a year.
I'm not hungry tonight. That's a good thing, right. :D
12-04-2006, 08:32 PM
LOL It really does sound funny when I say I only have 5 trees. People probably think I'm losing it!!
I need to call and make an appointment for my mammogram! I totally forgot about it!! Thanks for the OUCH reminder.
Not hungry is a good thing! I had a bowl of soup before I went to the Y. I plan to have a small bowl of sugar free ice cream later. That has been in my plans all day.
I get a perm in the morning. I just realized that is probably the reason Bob went to Florida! He hates the smell after I get one.
Sure wish everyone was posting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
12-04-2006, 10:55 PM
Wow Tammy, you were very productive!!!! Only 5 trees! :tree: :tree: :tree: :tree: :tree: I can't believe it!!! :) I thought I was doing good with one. I'm glad that you took the day off. I might take one off before the holidays.
I babysat my little girl that broke my nose after school. I took her home and then went to pick her mom up at the airport. She was so funny. I just love that little girl. I just got home about 45 mintues ago. I will be heading to bed soon.
Tina, I had my mammogram on Saturday. I agree, OUCH!!! I'm glad you only have to get them once a year.
12-05-2006, 12:37 PM
Susan, I think you are doing great with one tree!!! I'm sure the little girl loves you as much as you love her. Did you have fun?
My perm is stinky, but the hair looks better. I went to the storage unit and brought home a couple boxes. Couldn't figure out how to open the back end of Bob's car. Talk about feeling stupid! Finally figured it out. The latch is in a dumb place if you ask me.
I guess I should get started on those boxes. Actually, I need to clear off the washer and dryer. I forgot that I had clothes in the dryer yesterday. Wonder how wrinkled they are? Mainly towels, so I can handle that.
Hope you are all having a wonderful day!!
12-05-2006, 01:15 PM
LOL Tammy. I'm sure I'd have the same trouble with Larry's truck opening.
You are the industrious one! Good for you.
About the clothes. You are not alone! When I do that, I just toss in a damp wash cloth and run the stuff through the "fluff only" cycle. That usually takes care of wrinkles.
Susan, you are the sweet one for babysitting.
Dee, how are you doing with all the parties you're going to?
Everyone be sure to drink lots of water before parties.
I'm going to make some 0 pt. veggie soup today.
How is the recipe quest coming???
I'll post one tomorrow.
12-05-2006, 09:49 PM
I sure am busy. I know you all are. I am still trying to get the shopping done, I have two sick kiddies, one has some kind of double eye infection, have to get him to a specialist. My other child will be tested for chronic fatigue, thyroid.......and who knows what else.
I haven't concentrated on myself in a couple days, and it showed on the scale. I think once I can get my head on straight, I will recommit myself to WW (at home) again. We have been eating on the run, I haven't cooked in quite a few days.
Tammy, how long did it take Bob to get down here?
Tina, you are too funny and that is a good idea. I'd rather scoop them up and throw them out. Glad the boob squishing went well. LOL.
Susan, How are the Xmas cookies coming?
12-05-2006, 10:08 PM
Tina, I'll have to remember that about the wet cloth in the dryer. Since this was towels and some undies, I didn't worry about wrinkles. I figured that I'll be the only one seeing them. I hope!!
I ended up ordering a little pizza tonight. I forgot about supper till I was on my way to the little store here in town to get some wrapping paper. Drove past the pizza place and called on my cell. Picked it up on the way home then. I'm taking the rest for lunch tomorrow.
Oh yeh, recipes!! I need to find one, don't I?
Dee, I hope the kiddies get better! Fibro is alot like the chronic fatigue, so I hope it isn't that. It's bad enough as an adult. Your eating sounds like me since Bob has been gone. I just grab something and go. I ate popcorn for lunch today while I was going through boxes.
Bob decided that he was going to take his time getting there, and he did. He left Friday, and he ended up staying overnight in southern Tennessee. On Saturday night, he stayed in southern Georgia. He arrived in Tampa about noon on Sunday. Since he was the only one driving, I was glad that he didn't try to drive too far. Since he had his car accident in '03, he just doesn't do as well driving, staying awake, etc. I worry about him.
He is more than ready to come home already. He called Tim tonight. He asked him if he remembered the first year he went away to scout camp for a full week. Tim said yes. He then asked him if he remembered us coming over for parent's night, and Tim wanted to come home with us. (We wouldn't let him by the way.) Tim remembered that and laughed. Then Bob told him that he knew exactly how he felt!! His older brother is really driving him crazy. It's a long story. I feel bad for Bob. I'm sure he'll even appreciate Kramer more when he gets home!! lol
I need to head to bed. I really have to go to school tomorrow. Have to go at least 2 days this week, right? (Wed. and Fri.) Next week I'll only be there 2 days because I'm taking a personal day on Fri. (15th). That's the weekend Carol, Melissa, and I so our yearly shopping trip and stay at the B&B. Can't wait. I will make sure that I have all my medicines packed, that's for sure.
12-06-2006, 10:25 PM
I had a blast babysitting. She was so funny but to she how excited she was when we went to pick up her mom from the airport. Her dad left town that day and mom was coming back.
I'm so tired today! I had to roll down the window 3 times on the way to school. I got home from school and sat down in the chair. I was planning on going to the gym and in the mean time I fell asleep and slept for an hour and half. I only woke up because I was cold.
Tammy, I think it's great that you are taking a personal day and going to the B&B.
Tina, how are you doing?
Dee, the Christmas cookies are still unmade. I plan on doing it this weekend. But my mom is making the ones that my husband loves.
I'm sitting here looking at my Christmas tree, it's so pretty.
12-07-2006, 02:00 PM
I am behind on my postings but better late than never. I lost another 2.2 pounds totaling 18. Next week I will hit my first 10%. That is really exciting.
Welcome BriteEyes, it is nice that you joined us. Good job on your loss. You don’t need to pass up the good food, just modify it and make it better for you. As far as excersise, I Dance Clean. I put on my MP3 player and start cleaning and while I clean I dance. It definitely is a workout and before you know it you are sweating and having fun cleaning.
Well I have not put up any decoration yet. Just have not had the time. I also like the recipe idea. I will have to come up with one.
Tammy I can’t believe you have 5 trees. I have one that when I pull it out of the box, I plug it in and it is all done. Now as far as decorations, I have all my favorite ones pinned on a piece of Christmas fabric and then I thumbtack it behind the small Christmas tree. Now that I say it out loud, it sounds pretty sad.
Well I will work on the recipe. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.
12-07-2006, 09:00 PM
Susan, glad you are enjoying the tree. I'm enjoying all of mine, lol. Bob didn't think I could find enough room for the 5, but I did it. He'll be surprised when he gets home on Sunday. Do not fall asleep while driving young lady!!!
Leeann, long time no see ( or whatever)!! I'm down on trees this year since we moved to a smaller place. I keep looking out on the porch thinking that I could put bunches of them out there, but I don't think bob will go for that one. I have 1 tree and a wreath out there. I like the idea of putting the decorations on the Christmas fabric. I have a friend who puts all of her Christmas pins on a Santa hat and wears it. Well, I don't know if she does anymore since she retired from teaching. She taught junior high and used to wear it to school. The kids loved it!
It is soooooooooooo cold outside! I didn't want to be outside at all today. I don't even know what the temp was, but my hands hurt after I pumped gas because I didn't have my gloves on.
One of the women at the WW meeting tonight was talking about how easy she is finding it to follow CORE. I think I'll keep going over the information and seriously give it a try after the new year. It can't hurt.
Met Tim this afternoon at a town that's halfway for both of us. We went over classes he plans to take next semester, talked about Christmas gift ideas, and just hung out. We ate at McDonalds, then we went to Wal Mart. Now how exciting was that?? lol
We discussed going to a dinner theater south of Dayton for a Christmas gift for Bob. The show is "It's a Wonderful Life", and we both know that Bob really likes the movie. We've been to this theater before, but it has been awhile. I think I'll get tickets ordered for after I'm out of school. My last day before break is Dec. 20. Tim gets home Dec. 17.
Hope everyone is having a great day!
12-07-2006, 09:47 PM
Sad day, There was a horrific car crash this morning two vehicles hit head on, both drivers, mothers, were killed instantly. One had her 5 and 13 y/o in the car and the other a 5 y/o. All three children were airlifted and survived, they are in fair-stable condition. The 13 y/o has gone to school with my boys since they were four. I am so shocked. Stunned beyond disbelief. His mom, Lisa, worked at my Dr.'s office. Her third baby was staying at Gramma's at the time of the accident. I can't believe it. I am sick to my stomach. She came here for birthdays. The kids go to summer camp together.
Even DH is stunned. So close to Christmas. 4 kids with no mom. I will never let my children sit in the front, nor will they be without car/booster seats. (except my 13 y/o, he is way bigger than I).
Sorry for rambling.....just wanted to get it off my chest.
12-07-2006, 11:09 PM
Dee, that's horrible news. It would be bad enough, but knowing them is worse.
It really makes us think about safety.
Everyone take care out there in the bad weather some are having.
12-07-2006, 11:10 PM
Dee, how awful! We'll keep the families and friends in our prayers. As you said, so close to Christmas, and that is what the children will remember. Ramble all you want. Losing a friend is so difficult.
12-07-2006, 11:12 PM
While I'm still up, please keep Bob in your prayers. He is leaving Tampa tomorrow on his drive home. When I talked to him earlier tonight, he seemed nervous about the trip. I'm not sure why. He'll stay overnight Fri. and Sat. night, and he'll be home Sunday.
12-08-2006, 04:29 PM
Dee so sorry about that. It is never a good thing but I think it is even worse around the holidays. I will keep you and them in my prayers.
12-08-2006, 04:30 PM

12-08-2006, 09:40 PM
Can you believe how fast time is flying by? I have had a busy week. Next week will be a busy one too. We don't get out until the Thursday before Christmas.
Dee, I wish I was there to give you a hug. I'm so sorry for your friend and her family, as well as the other family involved. If there is anything we can do you let us know!! Ya'll will be in my prayers.
Leeann, you are doing good on your weight loss. You need to cheer me on so I get going.
Tammy, I thought Bob was back from Tampa. I'll keep him in my prayers. I know you enjoyed your day with Mr. Tim even if you went to Walmart.
Tina, did ya'll get snow flurries? My sisters called this afternoon and were so excited because they had flurries. I can't remember when they had snow the last time.
My food has been horrible. Exercise is still good. did someone mention a change with WW? I'm going to a meeting next week.
12-08-2006, 11:50 PM
No snow here! There was some sleet to our southwest but it didn't last long.
We had a White Christmas Eve in 2004. It was all gone in Houston on Christmas day. The next day, we went down to Galveston and the snow was still everywhere!
Since it snows here about every 7 years, we have a long time before more.
I've done sooooo good with my points this week.
I have lost all my Thanksgiving weight now. I'm now back to where my tracker shows. I'm very proud of myself. I just tell myself that if I would do this all the time, I'd lose the rest of the weight. I don't listen to myself.
LeeAnn, thank you for being the first one to post a recipe. I promise that I'll get mine online tomorrow.!!!
12-09-2006, 09:02 AM
Leeann, the pumpkin pie recipe sounds yummy!! Thanks for posting it.
Susan, I have up and down days with the food and exercise. I know if I'd stay with it, I'd be losing faster. Kind of like what Tina just posted!! I think we all do the same thing at times.
I heard about one of the changes for WW is how your points are figured. There is supposed to be a list of questions to answer to determine points. Males get more points than women. Boo hiss!! Your age, current weight, height, and how you spend your day (sitting, standing, walking). I guess we'll be finding out pretty soon, right?
Tina, good for you for matching your tracker!! Me too this morning.
I ended up baking cookies and wrapping presents last night. Today I am paying for it. Did too much yesterday with going to school too. Good thing I can just be lazy today. I do need to straighten up the house a bit before Bob gets home tomorrow. I have wrapping supplies all over the dining room table, and I'll admit it doesn't look very pretty. lol

Hi Ladies, thanks for all your kind words. My son will be going up to the hospital to see his friend today. He is on morphine. They did surgery for his broken pelvis and legs. His little brother is in the bed next to him and he is doing well. The father apparently isn't around and Grandma is going to take the kids.
Back to WW, why would they make so many changes...if something ain't broke.....? Sounds complicated.
Tammy, Where is Bob? How is he doing?
You all sound like you are doing well. Good news is what I like right now.
12-09-2006, 10:58 AM
Every year WW reviews the program and tries to make it better. I don't believe there were any adjustments for 2006.
I can't wait to find out more about. Tammy, thanks for telling us what you know.
I'm going to the Monday meeting. I can't wait until Thursday. :D
Tammy, you made cookies which means you had a recipe. I want to see it! (Even if you throw things in, please write something down.
Today I'm trying a new sugar cookie recipe. It's 1 pt. per cookie. If good, I'll post it this afternoon.
12-09-2006, 10:21 PM
Dee, tonight Bob is in Tennessee, and he'll be home tomorrow afternoon. He considered cancelling his hotel reservation and just driving on home, but it would have been another 7-8 hours, and he was already tired. Glad he decided to stay. More of a chance for me to get a few more things done around here without him here!! lol
Tina, when I mentioned the list of questions to my leader the other night, she just smiled at me and told me we would have to wait. I went through the list of questions, and the way I have it figured for me is that I would get 1 more point a day. Oh Boy!! Another thing that was mentioned is that there will be more foods on the Core list.
We are concerned that we may have to go somewhere else for meetings if we can't get more people. This group just started the end of September, and the other night there were less than 15 people who came to weigh in and/or stay for the meeting. I like having the meeting right here in town, so I hope we can get some more people involved. The leader is going to place ads in the local paper again, with a note like "New Year's Resolution to get Healthy? Join WW", and then have all the information. A couple of women are going to put it in their church bulletins. I know a couple of teachers here in town, so I might see if one of them would put something up at school.
Here is my grandma's sugar cookie recipe that I'll probably make after Tim comes home so he can help me.
Sugar Cookies (roll) Not WW friendly!!
2 cups sugar
1 cup Crisco
1 tsp. soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1 cup buttermilk
2 tsp. vanilla
6 cups flour ( I usually save some of this for rolling the dough out.)
Mix ingredients together. Sprinkle flour on the counter, put part of the cookie dough on it, sprinkle flour on the dough, roll with rolling pin. Use cookie cutters (The Christmas tree always tastes the best!!) Put cookies on baking sheet, sprinkle with colored sugar.
Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes.
Last year I used the Splenda baking blend, and it worked out great. When I was growing up we always made a double batch of these. What a mess!!! My brothers and I had the best time doing it though.
For the most part, the house looks presentable for Bob to see tomorrow. I do have record albums all over Tim's bed though. Sorting them to decide what to keep. The dining room table still has wrapping supplies on it, so I guess I should get that taken care of.
I bought a shirt today for Tim, and the more I look at it, I think it will be too small. Guess I'll return it for a bigger size. I bought a small, but it really looks extra small compared to a couple shirts he has here at the house.
Talk to you all later!!

Funny thing, I made sugar cookies yesterday too. I'll post the receipe.
I have been so sick with my stomach and intestines. I ate breakfast yesterday and then nothing until late this afterrnoon. Figured I'd better eat something and see if I could keep it in. Let's just say, every thing has run straight through me and it sounds like a volcano making it's way through. I'm not even hungry either.
Pat worked all through the night Friday, all day Saturday, then went to play and got home and said "One of the dogs needs to go to the ER." She got in a fight with the other dog. So he took her at 5 in the morning. I went to pick her up about 9:30. She is the same one that was there not too long ago.
I'm going to try to make it to an early meeting or to one at lunch time this week. I'm anxious to know what the changes are too.
Dee, bless those kids' hearts. What a tough time they are going to go through.
Tammy, take it easy my friend.
Tina, congratulations on getting back down to pre Thanksgiving weight. YEA

We seem to be stuck on Sugar Cookies.
This one is WW friendly!!!!!
Basic Icebox Sugar Cookies
1 cookie = 1 pt.
1 c. flour
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/8 tsp salt
4 Tbsp stick margarine, softened
2/3 c. sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 large egg white
Combine first 3 ingredients in bowl & set aside. Beat margarine at med. speed until light and fluffy. Gradually add sugar, beating at med. speed, until well-blended. Add vanilla and egg white, beat well. Add flour mixture and stir until well-blended.
Turn onto wax paper and shape into a 6-in. log. Wrap log in wax paper, freeze for about 3 hrs or until very firm.
Preheat oven 350.
Cut log into 24 (1/4 in.) slices and place on cooking spray coated baking sheet. Bake for 8 to 10 min.
(I got this recipe from Cooking Light.)
12-10-2006, 07:30 PM
Too funny about all of the sugar cookies!! When I talked to Tim earlier today, I told him that I was saving the sugar cookies to do when he is home. He laughed and asked if he gets to do the sprinkles. That has always been his job. Just like with the deviled eggs, his job is to sprinkle the paprika on them. ( or dump as he did one year!!)
Susan, I hope you are feeling better. My insides have been making some strange noises too. Even Kramer looks at me funny when he hears it.
The poor dog! Tell them no fighting!!! My WW meeting isn't until Thursday, so if anyone goes before that please post the changes!! I can't wait!!
Tina, my SIL used to get Cooking Light, and I would read her copies. Bob said tonight that he needs to get back on the weight loss wagon. He really doesn't need to lose much, but he does need to pay more attention to the sugars/carbs because of the diabetes.
I plan to go to bed early tonight, but it's on 7:30. I guess that is a bit too early. I'm sure I could sleep till morning though. Bob is home, so I'm sure I'll sleep better.
Hope everyone has had a nice weekend. It was about 50 degrees today, much different than the 8 degrees the other morning!!
12-10-2006, 09:39 PM
The only good thing I can say is that I'm not hungry and there is NOTHING inside of me. :) I know more information than you wanted to know :D
Here is a receipe for cranberry relish. I love it:
Take whole (fresh) cranberries. Place in blender or cusinart, and chop up.
Then take 1 or 2 oranges (peel and all). Place in blender and chop. Empty in to a bowl. Take chopped pecans and mix into mixture. Add either sugar or splenda to taste. Let it set a couple of hours.
(I like mine a little tart so I don't wait too long after I make it). It's even better the next day.
12-11-2006, 02:08 PM
David has a job!
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers about this. He went for the interview on Friday. This morning, the agency called that he got it! He starts on Wednesday. What a great Christmas present!
Susan, thank you for the recipe. I will definitely be trying it.
I went to the WW meeting today at noon. I'll tell y'all more later. Right now, I'm starving. ;)
12-11-2006, 04:31 PM
Hi All! I just cancelled my on-line WW membership and decided to re-join the 3 FC's site after many months. We did a recipe exchange on the WW's site and the following recipe was one of 12 sent to me. I haven't tried it yet, but it sounds delicious!
Mock Almond Joy Pudding
3 points per serving
1 small pkg. Instant SF FF Chocolate Pudding Mix,
2 C. FF Milk
1 1/2 tsp. coconut Extract
1/2 tsp. almond Extract
1 C. Quick Cooking Oats
MIx the first 4 items together, then stir in oatmeal. Portion into 4 servings and chill 1 hour before serving. Tastes like Almond Joy Candy Bar!
12-11-2006, 04:33 PM
Ooooooooooop, for to type in 3 points per serving on the Mock Almond Joy pudding.
12-11-2006, 08:45 PM
Susan, the cranberry relish sounds good!! Might just have to give it a try. Wonder how the guys here would like it?
TINA!!! HOW WONDERFUL FOR DAVID!!!! Please tell David that when he gets the first check, he has to take all of us out to eat. It has to be WW friendly of course.
Welcome Bobbolink! That recipe sounds yummy too!
Does anyone have any of the WW cookbooks? Bob was wondering what I wanted for Christmas, and I have thought about one of those. Any thoughts on these??
Went to water aerobics tonight. Fun as usual. Wednesday is our last class for this session, so we are going out for pizza and gabbing afterwards. We always have so much fun when we do that. We usually get 3 or 4 pizzas, and there are close to 14 of us. Even the lifeguard goes with us sometimes. lol
No school for me tomorrow. I'm meeting a friend for lunch at 11, and then our elementary staff party is from 4-6. For lunch I'm having soup and salad, and for the party we had to preorder, so I'm having a turkey sandwich.
12-11-2006, 10:20 PM
YIPPEE!!!! I am so happy for David. What a great Christmas present. He certainly deserves it and so do you. What will he be doing?
Tammy, the cranberry relish is my favorite thing. Pat turns up his nose and so did everyone in my family with the exception of my mom and brother.
Bobbo, welcome to the group!!!
Dee, how are you doing? You've been kind of quiet.
I exercised tonight. I was a little worried because I've been sick with that stomach bug and I really haven't eaten much. But I made it through it and felt better.
I'm going to a meeting tomorrow or on Wed.
12-12-2006, 10:46 AM
I'm back on Weight Watchers (did it 2 years ago and lost about 7 lbs). I have about 8 lbs to lose to meet my mini goal...I would love to join this thread and weigh-in with you all!
12-12-2006, 02:43 PM
:welcome2: Welcome to Bobbo and Mskelly. We are so glad you are joining us.
Bobbo, thank you for the recipe. My husband will love that one.
If we keep up posting recipes, I'll make us a recipe thread and ask mauvaisroux to put a Sticky on it. So, keep the recipes coming!
David is going to be working on a large digital data base -- computer stuff. I took him to lunch today to celebrate. He wanted to go to Olive Garden. I had the soup, salad, & breadsticks. I ate 3 breadsticks. That means I'll have a meager supper.
12-12-2006, 02:52 PM
thanks tina!! i love olive garden's soup and salad...so yummy. today i am trying to eat more of my points. last week i only ate about 15 out of the 20 pts i was allotted and no flex points. i thought i was going to speed up my weight loss but i think it slowed it down. so today i am hitting the gym and eating all 20 of my points.
question: does a glass of wine count towards the points or do you use flex points for that??
12-12-2006, 03:01 PM
About the wine---it can count either way.
It just depends on you. If drinking it will put you over your daily pts., by all means, use a flex point.
12-12-2006, 05:11 PM
I just made the mock Almond Joy pudding and it's delicious. I put it into 6 serving containers instead of 4 and that's plenty because it's rich tasting. I eat all my desserts wtih a tiny little spoon, it seems to go farther and savor every bite. The oatmeal in the pudding has the texture of real coconut.
12-12-2006, 09:01 PM
Ok. Now I want to go to Olive Garden!!! I ate out twice today, so I guess I should stay home and eat for a while.
School tomorrow. The kids are getting wound up because of the break coming up.
Not much to say today.
12-12-2006, 10:26 PM
Tammy, when is school out for the holidays? Susan, you say you are not out until next week.
Our schools get out this Thursday.
We're having great weather this week---in the high 70's. It's supposed to be in the 50's tonight, but that's okay.
I ate too much today. Yuck! It's on the treadmill in the morning.
12-13-2006, 11:18 AM
so i weighed myself as usual this morning...still at 138 and not budging! i went to the gym and ran for 30 minutes yesterday....i drank 2 liters of water and ate 19/20 points. still no loss.
i know that i should see how my clothing fits, which is good, i can tell i look better in my clothes and i feel like i've lost weight but of course part of me just wants to see that number change. it's been the same for about 1.5 weeks now :( words of encouragement or tips welcomed! :chin:
12-13-2006, 09:30 PM
Our last day of school before break is Dec. 20. We go back to school Jan. 3. Tim will be home the 17th, and he goes back on Jan. 7, with classes starting the 8th. Tonight was our last aerobics class for this session, so we went out for pizza afterwards. We really have alot of fun in the class, and we all look forward to that little reward at the end of the session.
We are in the 50's this week, so it is really nice. I don't think my shopping buddies and I are going to have any snow for our yearly shopping trip and staying at the B&B. We leave Friday afternoon, and we'll be back Sunday afternoon. It will be fun even without snow.
mskelly, I know it's hard, but try to ignore the number on the scales. If you feel better and look better, that's the main thing. I know that I have so far to go, but I also know that my clothes are fitting better. Well, maybe getting too baggy. lol
12-14-2006, 09:25 AM
thanks tammy! you're right..i need to focus on my clothing. i have 3 pairs of pants that i alternate between during the week for work...the same pair but in 3 colors. every day i put them on they feel better...looser in the legs and the butt. yay :) i will happily replace them!
good news is...the scale budged. down 1 lb but hey, i'll take it!! :sunny:
12-14-2006, 10:32 AM
Great news, mskelly -- be sure to post your weigh-in results on the Thursday Weigh-In Results thread.
12-14-2006, 07:57 PM
mskelly, I do the same thing with 3 pairs of pants! Are we related?
Tomorrow my friends and I leave for the weekend. I've been looking forward to it, but today I feel like I don't want to go. I have no idea what my problem is. Hope I shake the feeling by tomorrow!
12-14-2006, 10:02 PM
I'm exhausted today. My class had an Open House for our parents and adminstrators. The kids were the hostess and hosts. They were so cute. I'm glad it is over.
I was supposed to go to our Deaf Ed. party after work but changed my mind. I was to tired.
I still haven't gone to a meeting but I plan too either this weekend or the first of next week. I need to get on the right track.
Welcome to our new members!!!! you have found a great group.
Tammy we get out next Thursday and are suppose to work on Friday. But they are letting up leaving early Thursday and not go Fri. thursday is Early release. We go back on Jan. 3 too.
Tina, I am so happy for David!!!!
12-14-2006, 11:35 PM
Everyone sounds so busy. Hello to all the new ladies. Tina, good to hear about David. Tammy, you sure sound like you haven't stopped for weeks!! Maybe that's why you feel blah. Once you're there with your friends you'll feel differently. I put up a small tree and my two cats(Charley & Casey) just won't leave it alone. Neither one has seen a Christmas tree before, so every day I come home and find decorations on the floor-I didn't put tinsel on it because I understand that can be harmful to them.
Susan, glad you put up your tree. I'm maintaining my weight so that's good. I did buy a pair of ice skates and the rink in front of city hall is now open, so tomorrow I'm going to go skating. I haven't done that in years so wish me luck. If I can get someone to take a picture and I can figure out how to post them I'll do it. I'm not doing too bad for an old girl!!! Anyway, I'll be here before Christmas, so happy shopping and let's be good to ourselves we deserve it.
12-14-2006, 11:54 PM
I finally figured out how to post pictures on the picture thread. Even though they're not the best, that's what I look like, so not much to be done about that!!!
12-15-2006, 09:55 AM
Finally, a photo of Maureen!!!!!:D :D
Maureen, you look great! Now we can put a face with all we know about you.
Be careful out there on those ice skates. Of course, you mastered the roller blading so it shouldn't be too hard for you.
Tammy, I hope you have a great time and don't feel bad.
Susan, I'm so sorry you aren't feeling good. Tonight light some candles, make a bubble bath and enjoy!
I'm having a good day so far. It's baking day. Oops...:o Hope I can keep my fingers out of the bowl.
Leeann and Dee, where are y'all?
Mimi and Sis, we miss you people.
How are all our new members?
12-15-2006, 10:37 AM
Susan, I'll bet your kids had a great time at the open house.
Maureen, I'm sure you are right about me feeling better once I get there. Maybe I am just worn out. Too much going on I guess.
Tina, just count your points if your fingers go in the bowl!! lol
12-15-2006, 09:56 PM
I am here, been busy. Have alot going on. I lost my mind.
My 12y/o was diagnosed with EBV/chronic fatigue syndrome. I am in denial, getting a 2nd opinion. My doctor put my on wellbutrin for mild depression/anxiety. I almost am done shopping and the kids will be out of school on Friday. My house is a mess and I really haven't been thinking about my weightloss efforts. I am drained.
Can't remember what I posted last and too tired to look.
Congrats to David!! Hope you all are well.
Tammy I am picking up my tickets for my trip this week. I will be making my reservations also. ;)
12-15-2006, 10:12 PM
I am so glad it's Friday! Pat's going on Sunday to visit his folks on Sunday-Wednesday. So I'll be flying solo. we don't get out of school until next Thursday. I'm ready for my week off. We don't get much time....
Tammy, I know you are ready for a break!
Dee, I'm sending you a hug  I'm sorry about your 12 year old. That's tough! Take care of yourself.
Maureen, I'm so impressed with your roller blading and now ice skating. It sounds like fun!!!! Wish we were there to cheer you on!!!
Tina, what did you bake?
12-17-2006, 10:04 PM
It's been quiet here. Well, I went to WW today. OH my!!!! I didnt' like wait I saw....... I know they say you build muscle when you start exercising but I don't think 9 pounds worth!!! I'm starting the day off fresh tomorrow. I didn't do it today because I went so late in the day.
Hope everyone had a good weekend!!!
12-17-2006, 11:25 PM
Susan, sorry about the muscle weight.
Tammy, you must tell us all about your trip. How was the weather? What did you buy?
Where is everyone?????
12-18-2006, 11:32 AM
Tammy- haha we may be related! I just started working full time and I had such a hard time figuring out what to wear each day, I have my 3 staple pants and then a pair of really comfortable Express Editor pants that go good with flats...that is pretty much all I wear to work. It really makes getting ready in the morning so much easier and now that they fit better, I can wear more of my tops that are a little bit tighter :) woohoo!
How was your trip though? I get like that too...I don't know what it is about me, I'm so excited about going somewhere and then when it comes, I doubt whether or not I really want to go...why is that? Once I get there I usually have a great time but it definitely sounds like we have something in common.
Well I went to a work "booze cruise" and buffet over the weekend and a welcome home party too....I think compared to everyone else I ate as healthy as I could but I definitely need to kick it into high gear for the rest of this week.
I almost feel like not having an expectations for weight loss over Christmas...I don't want to deprive myself but I just want to focus on portion control and maybe more exercise...what are everyone else's dieting plan for the holiday??
12-18-2006, 09:45 PM
Hope everyone had a good day. My kids are excited about the holidays. We worked on a wreath and what should take just a short time takes them ALL day. I was so ready for them to be finished with it. They tore different shades of green paper and placed them on a paperplate with the center cut out. Then we added red circles from a hole punch on it. They were really cute.
I sent one home sick today. She won't be there tomorrow either. I hope she gets to feeling better and doesn't share it with me.
I did pretty good today with my food. I sure hope I can keep it up.
Tina, how does David like his job?
Tammy, are you counting the days?
Kelly, I do the same with my clothes too.
I think I'm going to head to bed early tonight. Pat has already called and checked in so I might go on to bed after I finish watching General Hospital.
12-18-2006, 10:51 PM
My tummy feels thinner tonight. That's always a good feeling. :D I'm sure I haven't lost any weight. I've been baking chocolate chip cookies. They are my downfall! I've done pretty good staying out of them. We'll see if that continues.
Susan, I'm sure you will be missing Pat while he's gone.
David is so happy to have a job! These first few days are listening and learning everything.
Tammy, what did you get for us???
Hope everyone else is fine.
SIS, where are you?????
12-20-2006, 09:56 PM
Dee, have you been to another doctor yet about the CFS? Let us know how things are going. When will you be here? I need to get that marked on my calendar!!!
Susan, how are you doing without Pat being there? I'm sure you are as ready for the break as we are. Today was our last day. We go back on January 3. As for the 9 pounds, it is so true about the muscle. I'm sure that with all of your workouts, you are looking and feeling better. The wreaths you made with the students sound cute. That is one thing that I didn't miss this year was doing a craft!!!
Tina, having your tummy feel thinner has to feel great!! How are the cookies? I brought homes loads of goodies from school this afternoon. I already have cookies that I had made in the freezer for the neighbors, so I'm just going to add some of these to their baggies. A couple of them are retired teachers, so they'll get a kick out of it.
Sorry I haven't been on here since we got back on Sunday. I've been going to bed very early. I haven't felt the best, and I decided that in order for me to survive the 3 school days this week, I didn't need to be doing much.
Our trip was wonderful. On our way there on Friday, I told the others about the feelings that I had about not going. I know one of them said right away that she had the same feelings because her husband is losing his job, and they really don't know right now what will be happening. His place is closing down. We all decided that we all needed the weekend, and we definitely made the most of it.
It got pretty cool on Friday night. Even with heavy coats and gloves, we were cold. Saturday was beautiful. We had light jackets on during the day, and in the evening we put on another light layer. On Sunday, I ended up going into a restroom and taking off a shirt! I had a long sleeved shirt on under a long sleeved denim shirt. Took off the underneath one. It was way too warm especially when we were in the stores.
I bought a table runner for the dining room table. I have looked at it for the last 3 or 4 years at a lace shop, but I never wanted to spend the money. It was 40% off this year!!!!!!!!!!!! It is off white, and it has 3 nutcrackers on each end of it. It is so pretty! Tim has always liked nutcrackers. I also bought a decoration to stand outside our front door. It is a green picket fence with greenery and white lights across the top. On the left side of the fence is a snowman, and on the right side is a sign that says Welcome. I bought some candles to give as gifts to a couple of friends when I meet with them tomorrow night after my WW meeting. It was a very nice trip. We already have our reservations for next year.
Foodwise, we did great on the weekend. We always take a bottle of wine with us. This year we took 3!!!! Also took Diet Pepsi. Tina, you asked what I got for you guys? I thought about you while I was sipping the wine!! lol
mskelly, I don't plan on not having the goodies that are around this time of year. I just plan to indulge in moderation. So far I've done great, but there are still quite a few days and parties to go yet.
I need to head for bed. Getting up early again in the morning. We are going to a dinner theater for a matinee of "It's a Wonderful Life". That's part of my Christmas gift to Bob and Tim. We are all looking forward to it.
12-20-2006, 10:26 PM
Tammy, I'm so glad you had a good time on your trip. I was worried that you'd feel bad the whole time.
Your table runner sounds beautiful, and 40% off!!!!! What a deal!
It has been foggy and yucky every day recently. But, it was not cold. This afternoon a front came through dropping the temp by 20 degrees. Brrr... Well, tomorrow is the first day of winter. I guess it should be cold for that.
I hope everyone is doing well. It's a difficult time of year to be good.
12-22-2006, 07:27 AM
Good morning everyone-just a quick note before I head out to work-in case I don't get time to get on line before Christmas I hope everyone has a safe and happy Holiday. I'm having 2 of my sons-one of their girlfriends and Geoff over for dinner on Christmas. I do work for 3 hours tomorrow morning and I have tons of things left to do but it will all get done I'm sure. So again, have a great Christmas
12-22-2006, 09:45 AM
I went to get a second opinion about my son. He currently has mono and CFS. Turns out I have mono too. :?: We are both getting B12 shots and antiviral meds. I am trying to research some nutritional info to boost immunity and energy. I am thinking of consulting a nutritionist and infectious disease doctor. I notified his school. Apparently they haven't had anyone with CFS before. The principal is going to read up on it. We'll see how that goes.
Tammy, I will be there on the 7th. I will have to get your number from you. I won't have internet access while I am there. How was the Matinee? I love "It's a Wonderful Life." I am dreading packing my winter gear. I don't even own a real winter coat or gloves. brrrrr....
How does David like his new job???
And where did Pat go? What did I miss? alot I guess.
I am almost ready for Christmas. :o
12-22-2006, 09:47 AM
hey all! just had to share something really quick...i was complaining about my plateau yesterday and i've realized that maybe it is the fact that i need to eat more....anyway i ended up eating a wrap for lunch that came out to be about 16 points...needless to say i went over my points yesterday and used my flex.
this morning: 135!! WOOHOO! Down 2 lbs!! :hat:
finally :) i almost jumped for joy
have a happy holiday everyone!! :snowglo:
12-22-2006, 02:52 PM
:ginger: Hi all, :tree:
Dee, I am so sorry you and your son have mono. I don't know anything about the CFS. Going to a nutritionist is something I would like to do. I really hope you and your family have a good holiday.
mskelly, congratulations on that loss. We never know how things are going to go on the scales. Keep up the good work!
Tammy, are you going wild now that it's vacation? I hope you are feeling good today.
Susan, how are you doing? Did Pat get home?
Maureen, I hope you and your family have a great time together.
Leeann, haven't heard from you in awhile. Your photo never came across the internet to me.
Sis, Mimi, Brandy, Amy, and the list goes on & on & on...... we miss y'all and hope everyone is well.
Everyone is asking about David's job. He is still learning about what he'll do. He says it's a lot to take in. I'm so thankful that he finally has a job.
Have a great Friday evening!
12-23-2006, 11:16 AM
It's been rainy here for the past several days. The sun did show up for a very short time yesterday though. Today it is much cooler, but I don't think we'll be getting any snow for Christmas.
Tina, the more that I look at the table runner, the happier I am with it. It really does look nice. I told Bob that our table is so pretty, I don't think I want to put a tablecloth back on after Christmas. He told me to go get another table runner, because he had been thinking the same thing! I haven't been too wild yet since school has been out. My main thing has been working on Christmas cards! I can't believe that I don't have them all in the mail yet.
Dee, I've had mono, and it is no fun. Please take care of yourselves, and do whatever you need to do to feel better. The matinee was great!! I cried a couple of times, but that's ok. The meal was great too! I tried to make smart choices. I'm looking forward to meeting you!
Maureen, sounds like you will be having some fun with your company. Enjoy!!
mskelly, congratulations!!!!!!!!!!! I know I would have been jumping for joy!
Tim is getting ready to run to town to pick up a couple gifts, then he's bringing home a pizza for lunch. My plans are to work on cards!! Imagine that!!!

Hi Again.... I typed and it all disappeared... I guess into cyberspace!
I'm sick AGAIN!!! We had our class party on Wed. since one of my kids was going to be gone on Thursday. So Thursday was a 1/2 day and we decorated cookies, watched a movie, and undecorated the room and had lunch. The kids left and I did stuff until I could leave.
Pat got home Wed. during the day. I did ok without him. Didn't get anything done that I wanted too because I was so tired. I went to exercise on Tuesday evening and got ready to get in my car at 6:25 (had a 7 appt. with my trainer) my battery was dead. Now Pat has the other car at the airport. Our truck is a farm truck and is pretty nasty. I was so flustered.... I called the trainer, he didnt' answer his phone. I called several times and left him several messages (I'm sure he thinks I'm a nut) I called a friend who never called back, he lives fairly close. Then I called my best friend Scott who lives two town away (about 30 minutes) He and his son come out and jump my car. I had already looked for the charger (of course, couldn't find it until I calmed down some) I had cleaned the connection off since it was karoded. Scott jumped it and it started right up. He put on the charger for about 20 minutes. Then he left. After that, Pat finally called me back. He said, "did Scott clean it off, ("No"), Did He check the water ("NO") , charging it for 20 minutes isn't going to be long enough" So he patiently walked me through putting it on the charger until morning. He said "when I get home, I'll take care of it. Call me in the morning." So of course, I calmed down talking to him. Silly isn't it. He's my rock....... Then Thursday, He kept my car and took care of it. It need water in the battery and some TLC.
I went to exercise Wed. and fell off the treadmill. Go ahead and laugh! It's pretty funny. My trainer had to go talk to his supervisor, he told me what to do. I stepped on the part where there is no moving portion and the edge of the moving and twisted my ankle. I lost my balance and fell and now sit down for this...... I slide off almost whacking my head on the machine behind me The lady next to me yelled. I was so embarrassed that I was hurrying to get up so no one saw me. Another trainer came running over to check on me. Talk about embarrassed. I told Mitch, my trainer, I have now embarrassed myself and you!!! I had to remind him I was a klutz and he was apolgetic. I had to tell him "it's not your fault." He just laughed.. :woops: I do have a scrape on my knee and my ankle does hurt a little but not much.
I woke up on Thursday morning with a sore throat. It's proceeded to move on to just the crud. I went to the dermatologist on Friday morning. He gave me a Z-Pak with a refill. I've gone to him forever so that was good, I think he would treat me for anything if I needed him too. I still feel lousy but now as bad as I could. The nurse in the office said she had her's had lasted a week and was just starting meds. He put her on it too that same day. So hopefully I'll start feeling better....
Enough about me!!!!!
Are you ready for the holidays? I can't believe Christmas is in 2 days!!!!! We were in Barnes and Nobles the other days and I saw a Peter Rabbit Display. I stood looking at the books and I teared up. I thought, I would be buying all of these for Seamus!!! I love Peter Rabbit!
I did most of my shopping on the internet. It sure beats the crowds.
What are ya'll doing for the Christmas? We are staying here. It will be a quiet it one. I only have a week off. So I'll go down to San Antonio when Daddy has his surgery.
Hope Santa brings you all everything your heart desires.
12-23-2006, 04:41 PM
Susan, glad that you got the car taken care of. I would have been in a panic too. Falling off the treadmill did make me chuckle. Sorry for my laughter. It reminded me of when I went for the stress test a year or so ago. I was hooked up to all kinds of things and walking on the treadmill. They raised the incline and turned up the speed. I started laughing because I was having trouble hanging on. I don't think the results of that test could have been accurate!!! Glad you aren't too banged up, and I hope the meds help you feel better soon. I like Peter Rabbit too.
We're home for Christmas. We'll be going to my brother's house on Tues. late afternoon. That's the only time we could manage to all get together. Work schedules, basketball practices and games - have to work around that stuff. We give gifts to the nieces and nephews but adults don't do an exchange. My niece is now considered part of the adult crew, so that's kind of weird. We had decided once they are out of college, they become an adult. We've discussed doing a gift exchange with the adults (just buying one gift), but I don't know if we'll ever do it.
Tomorrow we are stopping at my aunt's house after church to take her gifts. I hope she isn't grouchy. I don't know if I ever told you guys or not, but she claims that we sold her ladder at our auction. Then she said recently that she walked down to our old house and saw the ladder in the barn, and we're just hiding it from her. Why we would have had her ladder in the first place is beyond me.
She swears up and down that she sent Tim $$ for graduation last year, and he never sent a thank you note. She never sent the money. She's 91 (I think), and most of us don't think she should be living alone. We're afraid she'll hurt herself, but according to people in the know, there is nothing we can do.
On Thanksgiving, we took some food and goodies to her. She pointed to my cousin Amy and told her that she remembers cutting her hair when she was little when her mom, Lee, had gone to a sorority meeting. My mom's name was Lee, Amy's mom is Ruth. As she continued through the story, she mentioned my dad and my brother and the house we lived up till I turned 5. She's really mixed up.
Tim and Jess are out for the evening. Dinner, gift exchange, and then back to Jess's house to watch a movie. Bob is up at the club having a beer or two with friends. Kramer and I are just hanging out. Maybe I'll go jump in the shower. I might run to the store later and just look for stocking stuffers. I don't have much in their stockings. From the looks of my stocking, they don't have ANYTHING in mine. Hmmm. Now I'm bummed.
Have a good one!
12-23-2006, 06:46 PM
I'm glad that you got a good chuckle about the treadmill. It was really funny. I wish I had it on video. I always wondered about sliding off of one. Well, I can put it down on the list of things I've done. :) I have to hang on too.
Your poor aunt. Bless her heart. I can understand why you are worried about her.
Becareful if you get out. We've never stuffed sockings, we just get more presents. Santa always filled our stockings as kids!!!! I loved it.
12-23-2006, 11:10 PM
We still have our stockings and always will.
We don't put them out until Christmas Eve. We've never had a fireplace and so we put them on the sofa. It's fun that way because no one can look ahead of time.
12-24-2006, 03:02 PM
Susan, too bad you don't have it on video. Then we could see it on that show about funny videos! Do they still have that show? I went to town last night but I didn't buy anything to go in the stockings. Oh well.
Tina, we don't have a fireplace either. We used to put the stocking hangers and stockings on a bookcase, but this year we have them on the entertainment center. Very entertaining. lol
Tim and I delivered cookies and goodies to all the neighbors the other day. We've always done that except last year when we were between two houses. A little while ago the doorbell rang and it was Juanita from down the street. She had a card and some chocolates for us. She is 93 ( I think), and she has a walker on wheels. Couldn't believe she came. It is very nice today though, and the sun is shining. She's a retired schoolteacher, and so is the woman on the other 1/2 of her condo. I fit right in!! I'm a bit younger though. lol
We've all mentioned being in Georgia last year at this time. It was so nice. Tim said maybe we should take off after the get-together on Tuesday and head south. We are seriously thinking about heading to Frankenmuth, Michigan, for a night before I go back to school. It's about 5 hours from here, lots of nice shops and an outlet mall!!! Bob said he doesn't want to go. He said for Tim and I to go, and he'll stay and take care of Kramer.
12-24-2006, 11:13 PM
I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas
12-26-2006, 09:28 AM
I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas!
It was pretty quiet here, but that was ok. We had a nice time. Tim and I are making plans to go to Frankenmuth, Michigan, on Thursday morning and come home on Friday. Spur of the moment stuff is fun. Bob said he had enough of hotels when he went to Florida, so he doesn't want to go.
12-26-2006, 09:06 PM
Good evening all
I too hope everyone had a great Christmas. My 2 sons that live in Edmonton and Ian's(#2 son) girlfriend and Geoff were here for dinner. They left early and I managed to get a half hour skate in. I've been able to get to the rink the last few nights(I just got back in from another half hour). It's been really nice because it hasn't been too cold the lights are on the trees and it's really pretty. I really have to do something if I'm going to eat the junk(chocolates etc). I hope everyone has a great week and I'm here even when i don't post
12-26-2006, 09:41 PM
Maureen, glad that you had a good time with company and were able to get some skating in. I've managed to get rid of quite of bit of the goodies that I received so I won't be tempted.
We had our Christmas with my brothers and their families tonight. I just give $$ to the kids. I feel funny about my niece. She is out of college and working, so we don't give her a gift anymore. I think maybe next year we might put all the adult names in a hat and have a gift exchange just for the adults. The other 5 kids will keep receiving until they graduate and are working full time. My nephew is getting close. He is going to school, but he is already working full time for Dell Computers. As soon as he gets his degree, he goes into the adult category. I know it sounds weird, but it works for us.
I'm meeting Carol and Melissa tomorrow for lunch. I'm sure we'll be remembering bits and pieces of our weekend we had. It was so much fun.
Tim and I leave Thursday morning for Frankenmuth, and we aren't coming home until Saturday. Decided to take Kramer to the doggy hotel. Bob will be in and out so much it will be easier that way. AND the people at the doggy hotel love Kramer. lol
I weighed this morning after breakfast just to see the damage, and I was up 1.5 pounds. After eating as much as I have been, I was surprised that it wasn't more! I won't be able to go to weigh in on Thurs. since we're going to Michigan, so I'll have till next week to get it under control.
Is anyone doing Core? I keep reading up on it. I think I'm going to give it a shot after the first of the year. It seems doable. I like the part where I can still have some "goodies" since you still get the extra points for the week. I start back at water aerobics a week from tomorrow. Looking forward to it.
12-26-2006, 10:25 PM
I tried Core but like the point system more. For me, with Core it was hard to always eat the right amount of food. Counting the points, I knew if I'd gone over or not. Lots of people like not counting pts.
Tammy, have a good time with Tim. That's great that you two can get away. Enjoy it while you can. Pretty soon he'll be like David, out on his own, in his own apartment.
Maureen, you are my hero. There you are going skating after having all your company. Good girl!!!!! :carrot:
Susan, how are you feeling?????
Dee, how is your son doing? Are you feeling any better?
Sis, have you fallen off the face of the earth?:D :D :D
LeeAnn, where are you?
mskelly, what's new with you?
I ate my last piece of goodies tonight. Tomorrow it's back on program. I did eat all my fruit and veggies today. Yea!
12-27-2006, 07:27 AM
Tina, there is a woman in my WW meetings who does Core but she tracks her points for everything she eats. The leader talked to her about it, and she said that she wants to make sure she's doing the right thing. I'm going to give it a try after Tim goes back to school. It will be easier with him at school. I know we'll have fun on out little trip. I'm not looking forward to when he has his own place and is on his own. It will be here before I know it.
Last night at my brother's house I did better than I thought that I would. My SIL always makes lots of delicious desserts that are hard to pass. This year she made candies and cookies. I ate one cookie. My other SIL brought a cheesecake that had several different flavors in it. I'm always disappointed in cheesecake so I don't even bother. One of the teachers makes a frozen cheesecake, and the rest of them just don't compare to it. I'm spoiled I guess.
I have dishes washed that I didn't get done last night, and I have a load of clothes ready to go in the dryer. Bob and Tim just left for Muncie. Going to pay Tim's tuition for next semester and buy his books. I thought it would be better for me to stay home and get things done since we're leaving for a couple days. I may have to hold off on putting the shirts in the dryer because I'd rather take a short nap. lol
Have a great day everyone!!
12-29-2006, 10:30 AM
I almost asked why it was so quiet around here during the holidays. :dizzy:  :p
Silly me! It's hard to think about eating correctly during this time. OR, we have gained and don't want to get on the boards.
Come on group, let's talk.
Today I'm starting a new plan of attack. It's not WW approved but thought I'd try it for a few days------no sugar! Sugar is a "must" in my morning hot tea. Well, I suffered through plain ole tea today.
Maybe this will jump-start my loss.
Can you believe it's almost 2007!
12-29-2006, 01:07 PM
Yes, I've been missing everyone!!!!
I'm finally well!!! or at least almost. Pat lost his mind yesterday and told me that I wasn't losing weight and thought my trainer was just taking my money. He thought I should quit the gym, etc.... some of it wasn't so nice either. I was almost in tears. He said "You must cheat because I can't believe that you've gone for this long and haven't lost anything." He wanted to come with me to watch, I said "Come on" I went at 2:00 in tears. I told my trainer and his buddy. They were so encouraging....... he did an age assessment on me again. My body fat has gone down 6% since the middle of September. Even though I have gained 7 pounds. They assured me that was muscle and it would catch up with me and I would start losing. I'm not quiting. Pat wanted me to say that I was quitting but I refuse to do it. He really hurt my feelings! I think he might be jealous that I'm enjoying it but he doesn't want to join. He has to remember that I have health issues too that make it a little more difficult. He thinks I'm being taken advantage of....... I'm not.
Mitch and another trainer discussed me with me there. He is going to change some stuff up and we have a goal of me losing 10 pounds this month and some inches. I'm doing WW's again so hopefully I will get going in the right direction. I'm also calling my dr. after New Year's to see if maybe we can change my levelothryoid to see if that will make a different.
Christmas was good. I got good stuff. Pat gave me a bunch of stuff (like always). He gave me a folder that was decorated. Inside was a print out of a black kitty and pictures of what it looks like large. It had a cute letter on it that said "I am only 18 days old and I am in Arkansas. I would like to come live with you when I can leave my momma. I promise I will be a good lap kitty." It was a Bombay kitten. (Never heard of them before, but they are real loveable.) So in Feb. we will drive out there and check him out. If I like him, he will come home with us. Now, we still have 4 cats but he wants me to have one that is my lap kitty, like Oksana.
Hope everyone has a good day. I'm off to the gym at 2. My goal this month is 10 pounds and to make sure that I drive all my water. What are yours?
12-29-2006, 03:06 PM
hi ladies! hope everyone had a very merry christmas. i am definitely looking forward to the new year and i feel really motivated. i stayed OP during christmas...dipped into the flex points here and there but i made sure to go for a run christmas eve, christmas day and the day after. i don't know where that will power came from but i'm glad i did it...i felt better and was able to snack on a couple more things than i would have. christmas day at my mom's house i stayed on the treadmill for an hour...some running....some walking...but according to that little bugger i burned 500 calories so i gave in and ate a cookie or two ;)
it's my time of the month and i'm up a pound but i usually gain about 2-3 lbs during this week. i will check in with the weigh in board next week :)
12-29-2006, 10:10 PM
Hello girls! I posted a couple days ago and I noticed that my post isn't there. Hmmmmn...
My son and I are doing well. I notice that if he rests he gets a few hours of good energy. We are going for weekly B12. I thought that when I got the shot that magically in a couple of hours I would be full of energy and on the go. But no. It may be helping my son. I really don't feel different. Christmas was good. My 4 yo was sick. Had pus oozing out his ear and fever, spent Christmas eve in the ER. When it rains it pours at my house. What can you do, you can't expect 2 of 6 to get sick. The whole family has to go down with the crud.
DH spoiled me. I got all kinds of Mary Kay, an Ipod with wristband and docking station. Foot spa. My kids, of course, are spoiled rotten. I need the national guard to come in here and clear out all the old stuff to make room for the new stuff. I spoiled DH too. (I don't know why, he should have gotten coal.) I got him a guitar and some learning books. He has been trying to learn it every night since. My son got 2 of the James Bonds disc sets (10 movies). We have been watching alot of 007 this week. That Sean Connery was a sexy guy back in the 60's.
:club: Pat! What was he thinking? Just because you didn't drop to a size -2 doesn't mean you are not benefitting from the trainer. There are all types of benefits. For one, you are exercising. You get to go out and have 'you' time.
He better get you fifty lap kitties for that behavior. Okay, I'm done.
Tammy, I will be there soon. PM me your #. I leave in one week. ;) I have been trying to find gloves. Kinda hard. They really don't carry them here in South Florida. LOL, as a matter of fact, I don't even own a winter coat. Maybe you'll have a freak heat wave. :D
Tina, I agree with you about core. I tried it and ate like a pig. Like you, I had to go back to flex. I can't do tea without sugar. I use splenda. Bless you dear for doing tea...naked.
mskelly, way to go staying OP during christmas. Heck I had to look up what 'OP' was. LOL!
Have to go girls gotta get some serious sleep. Having the kids home all day wears me out.
12-30-2006, 09:16 PM
Tina, do you ever use Splenda? I've used it on my cereal and when I made cookies. Let us know how it goes without the sugar. When I gave South Beach a try several years ago, I had a terrible headache that lasted a couple of days. I remember it was NY Eve and NY Day, and I didn't even drink anything!
Susan, I'm sorry that Pat doesn't believe that what you are doing is working for you. I had a similar situation with Bob when I had been on WW before. Maybe changing things will get your body moving in the direction you want to go, and I'm sure that WW will help you get there. How neat about the kitten!!!! My goal was to hit 15 pounds by Jan. 1, but I don't think I'm going to make it. Still at 12. Not sure what the new goal will be. I know I need to drink more water.
mskelly, good for you for staying OP! That is great! Send some of your willpower my direction please.
Dee, sorry to hear about all of the sickness. You need to get better soon girl!! Maybe B24 shots?????? lol It was about 60 here today, and the weather really has been quite mild. Hopefully it will continue while you are here. I'll be sending you my number. Can't wait to meet you!!
Tim and I had a good time on our trip. I had told Bob that I don't want to put the tablecloth back on the dining room table because I really like the way the table runner looks. I bought a large round lace doily on our trip to put on the table. Bob thought it was beautiful! Woo Hoo!! I bought several books of different types at the outlet mall. Bought some goodies for NYEve from a restaurant where we always go in Frankenmuth.
Went to a corningware outlet store and bought a small carrying case with a bowl and lid and a pack that can be heated or cooled. I had a rather large one that I don't use very often when we go somewhere because it is just too big. Bob told me if I found a smaller one to go ahead and get it. It was about $12 cheaper than ones that I had seen.
We had all of the books in the Left Behind series except the last one. We had borrowed it to read, but I wanted my own copy. I found it for 60% off! I bought a box of Easter cards (12 of them) for 50 cents. I think I ended up with 9 books (hardback) for $13.
Tim went to visit Jess for a while. Bob is uptown having a brew or two. Kramer is asleep in his bed, and I'm ready to head for bed very soon. I need to get some sleep so I make it to church in the morning.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend! Don't party too much tomorrow night!!
12-31-2006, 08:21 AM
I am new to the group and would love to chat with others going through my same struggle. I have been with WW for 4 weeks now and have lost 10lbs thus far. My last Thursday's weigh in I lost 4.8 lbs. I'm soo excited on the upcoming weeks!!
12-31-2006, 09:58 AM
Welcome to the group!! You are doing great so far especially during the holidays. I think many of us are ready to get back OP and stick to it during the new year. I'm still debating whether to give Core a try. Might wait till my son goes back to college before I do though.
It is raining here. Dreary day.
12-31-2006, 04:47 PM
Davin, welcome to the group! You are doing great!!!
I'm going with Pat to play tonight. I havent' been in such a long time, I'm excited about it. Last night, I went to a girlfriend's wedding so..... needless to say "I finally feel better." I still have the stiffles but not much. Pat tells me a few minutes ago, "My throat is starting to hurt." I said "Oh, No..... well you start feeling worse tomorrow."
I went to exercise this morning. Did I tell ya'll that my body fat has gone down 6% since I started. So Pat can keep thinking whatever because I'm not stopping. Also, I'm really concentrating on eating RIGHT. Hopefully, I'll see those results a the end of the month. He did tell me yesterday, he was proud of me.
Hope everyone has a SAFE New Year's Eve.
12-31-2006, 08:50 PM
Susan, I'm glad you are going with Pat! I know you'll have a great time. Wish we could be there too! You are doing super with your exercise!! The body fat going down has to make you feel better. I feel like I'm eating better too. Not sure about all of the snacks we have out for tonight though!! lol
01-01-2007, 11:12 AM
Happy New Year everyone-I hope you all had a super evening and that your day is just as great. Very quiet here and that's the way i like it. I'll be going for a skate later
01-01-2007, 11:25 AM
HAPPY NEW YEAR, too!:newyear:
We went out for a steak dinner and then came home and watched TV until midnight.
We always have Welch's Sparkling grape drink to celebrate. This year we had the red kind. :D
Everyone have a great day.
01-01-2007, 03:08 PM
The band did great last night. It was an interesting group of people watching!!!! After the band set up, we went and got bar b q. Then as they played I rocked in the New Years with Diet Coke and the other family members of the band. They are like family. We got home about 4. It was at least 4:30 - 4:45 before I got to sleep. Of course I feel like a slug this morning.
Tammy, I do feel much better. I'm also trying really hard on my food too.
Tina, How does David like his job? I like quiet New Year's Eve's.
Maureen, Skating sounds fun!!!
Dee, what did ya'll do last night? Hopefully got a lot of rest!!!! I like Tammy's idea of B24 shots.
