Default Is It Over Yet?

Is it over yet???

On the contrary, it’s just beginning! What? The most food challenging season on the calendar! Over the next six weeks, we’ll be faced with holiday parties, holiday meals, holiday visits, holiday baking, holiday STRESS!

What can we do? The same thing we did for Thanksgiving. PREPARE! Oh, of course, there will be the “unexpected” invitation, but these will be rare. Most of the challenges we’ll face will be well known in advance.

We can eat lightly on the days we’ll be going to dinner at a restaurant or at a friend’s or relative’s home. We can exercise more on those days and on the day or two after the event. We can drink more water. Yes, MORE water! It flushes the system, and makes us feel full at the same time. We can follow the “three bite” rule. It’s a known fact that the first three bites are the ones that taste best, anyway. After that, it’s just eating to finish. It’s like the first cup of coffee or tea in the morning. That one always tastes better, no matter how many more we have!

If you’re going to a restaurant, you can prepare even better. Go on-line and look up the menu, or, if necessary, stop by to see one. Make your decisions THEN, and when you actually arrive, don’t even open the menu. That way, you won’t be tempted to change your mind to something that’s not such a good choice!
Food for thought.

Great advice, Ruthie!

If we think about it in advance, we'll do just fine!

Has anyone else signed up for the Lean Plate Club Holiday Challenge?
