GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!

Will post my usual morning post sometime later, but wanted to make sure I got our MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY done early in the morning, so here's my contribution for MM:

size=4] CONFIDENT OF SUCCESS[/size]

No one is ever assured of success. Every undertaking carries with it some risk. Yet even though there is no assurance of success, some people are confident enough to get started. Some of those are confident enough to keep going in the face of obstacles and disappointments. And some of those are confident enough to persist until the success is actually achieved.

Where does confidence come from? It comes from experience. Being confident comes as a result of acting confident.

What would you do today if you were confident of success? Do it. What first step would you take? Take it. How would you sit, how would you walk, how would you greet other people, how would you act if you were confident of success? Act that way and the confidence will come.

Yes, confidence takes a little blind faith at first. Soon enough, however, that confidence becomes real, supported and confirmed by actual experience. Act confident and you'll begin to be confident. Be confident and you'll have what it takes to bring your goals into reality.

Morning Again!

It's a beautiful day here in SOFLA, a litter less hot, but nothing I'd describe as being cool. Since I don't have to take Michael to school, I was able to get going for my walk/jog this morning before 7am-no great times, did the 4.5 miles in 51:14:) Now, it's my time to yell at Lauren to wake up and for me to cool down and get a post done.

The scale is still down today. One thing I noticed is for the last few nights I've been getting up 3 times a nite to visit the potty, not getting much sleep, but the results on the scale have been worth it. Last night, I woke up twice, but didn't go to the bathroom, was able to wait til this morning-thought I'd surely be up on the scale, but I am holding my own once again at 121! What a wonderful feeling to see that number again on the scale this morning. I know in the next few days it will go up though, but hopefully, it will stay below the 125 this time.

Here we are, into a new month and what's typically getting to be the beginning of the holidays with Halloween at the end of the month. We ALL know what Halloween is synonymous with - CANDY! It seems that from what I remember last year on the board, many people had trouble when it came to resisting the candy bowl and I'd like your ideas on how YOU plan to handle this at the end of the month. Let's tackle this first holiday, then we'll focus on Thanksgiving next month.

ROSALIE, sounds like you had a nice day Sunday, until the bike incident. How are you feeling today? Sorry to hear that happened. I'm sure DG was upset about what happened as well-poor kid, poor Grandma! Like you said, thank goodness you didn't break anything! Hmmm, not that I know how to cook as you are well aware, but maybe the pastry flour is too fine? Well, I hope the loaf you did make came out yummy. I'm thrilled for you that the scale is at least staying in the 195 spot, soon, it will be going down again-really, you don't have a clue how thrilled I am for you, I know how you struggle to lose a pound! I guess we are happy dancing for each other;) I don't know if the milk issue is the reason I've lost this past week or not. I am going to try to stay off of it until the end of this week, when TOM is due, just to see what happens with that and how the scale reacts to that, but I really have no intention to give up dairy-I like my shakes and I love cheese, maybe I was just overduing it-ALL MY LIFE! It just may be a fluke that I dropped on the scale and didn't have dairy, maybe one thing has nothing to do with another-who knows. I guess when I finally have some milk/cheese, we'll find out. Keep me informed how you are doing with your cutting back on the cheeses. Ummm, no SPOTTED DICK for Thanksgiving??? LOL!!! How are you liking the agave??? How did your cookies come out??? Inquiring mouths, I mean, minds, want to know!

BOB, why not try to omit one thing at a time, if you do them all at once you may not know that you can handle dairy, but not wheat. Glad you had a good game this weekend, I hate to see a grown woman cry!

MEL, you are a trip! I'm sure those 2lbs you found aren't pounds at all, but a mysterious phenomenon named after that old popular song called "drive me crazy". Unexplained weight comes and goes with no explanation-trust me, as easy as this phenomenon appears, it disappears. I'm surprised FRESH FIELDS doesn't carry the agave nectar-you should ask them if they can get it, I know some stores will special order things if their suppliers carry it. I've shopped at FF when I was at my cousins house in MD-nice store. DRAGONLADY has one near her, I can't remember if she said they carry it, you should ask her, if they do in MD, then they should be able to get it for you. Fresh figs are fine, it's the dried we aren't suppose to eat. They have a GI of 35, considered low glycemic, so enjoy!

GATOR, another month without stepping on the scale? How are you doing with upping your calories?

ZANNE, don't apologize for not being able to respond to everyone all the time. We all know how busy life gets, and for many people, just getting on the board is a feat in itself, much less trying to reply to everyone. No matter how short/long a post is, just the fact that you are checking in and staying active on the board is what's important:) Is the Canadian version of Thanksgiving about the same as the US when it comes to food? We have some great SB LEGAL recipes on last years November Recipe Board. Whenever I go to family's houses for dinner, I never hesitate to ask what's being served and how it's prepared, then I know if I need to take something for myself, or not. I have to do the same with my son Michael, since he's a strict vegetarian:rolleyes: As everyone is so different, I would say you could easily have great results from day one-keep focused and you'll continue to see new results all over yourself, on the scale, in your clothes, on how you feel, etc...Sorry, can't help you out on that recipe, you'll have to ask CATLOVER, but I do have another oatmealrecipe on the board, it too seems a little runny, but they crisp right up once they cool off-they are delicious!

LIZ, you aren't being nosey at all about that pic from 1984. Actually, you bring up a point that I've pondered for a long time-that we should have a board called MY STORY. But, to put it in nutshell, I've been fat all my life, after I got married in 1981 I, as my Mother said, ballooned over night until I found myself 284lbs in 1984. That picture was taken right before I had my stomach stapled, about a month or two before. Of course, I lost well over a hundred pounds, then gained all but 40 back. THEN when my sister was going to get married, she asked me to be in the wedding, and that's when I started Richard Simmons Deal-A-Meal (or as we called it, Steal-A-Meal), which was about 7-8 years ago, I think. I did very well on that, got down to 129, but that was when everything was fine and dandy, it's when things started happening with our business and other aspects in my life did I start seeing the scale rise. I did go to WW, not much good it did though, I lost 17lbs and that was it. Went off, gained those 17lbs back, plus quite a few more. I always knew I ate emotionally, but never could get a handle on it. With each lb I went up, I swore I wouldn't go up any more-5lbs, became 10, 10 became 20 and, well you know the rest of the story on that. Before I turned around, I found myself back to 194. I can't explain, but that little light finally popped on in my head, and I KNEW I had to get a grip on myself as I found myself near 200lbs again-I knew I was ready to do something. Went to the library and got my hands on every book that I could read that sounded new, sensible or popular. I read them all, and finally decided to start SB, as it seemed not only the most sensible, I hadn't tried it before (I have a awful track record for trying a diet in the past and trying it again and it not working), but most of all, it sounded like something that I could do easily and without feeling deprived. Something I'd be able to follow the rest of my life. So with that, I started on a Wednesday and I've been following it ever since. That's about it, my story in a nutshell. Don't hesitate to ask me any questions, ever-I'm always happy to answer, best I can.

BUSDEB, congrats that you all won your game and a bigger congrats for not giving in to the temptations at the consession stand! Just think of all that stuff as garbage with magets, that will keep you from even thinking about eating that stuff! You'll get to where I am, just stay focused. The graphics you see are from all over the web. You just need to find a free graphics pages and you right mouse click on the picture you want to save, hit SAVE AS, and then that's it. When you post, you hit the BROWSE BUTTON, find that pic in your files, double click on that, and viola, it should show up in your post. Just keep in mind, it has to be in gif or jpg format and smaller than 40K. Here's on the sites you can find some pics: http://www.freegraphics.com/04_Animated_Graphics/

FRUIT, glad to see your post!!! Keep them coming as best you can.

JRED, glad to see the pic worked for you! Yell for help anytime!!!

SEF, never, we'd never laugh, maybe a snicker, but not a full blown laugh! When that happens to me, I just go back a page, I never lose my posts when I do that, the little arrow at the top to go back. But when I write my posts, I do them as if I was writing an e-mail. The only time I lose those are when my computer locks on me and I have to shut it down, but usually I try to remember to push SEND LATER so it goes in my filing cabinet, so if I do lose the post, I've only lost what I didn't already save - did you follow that mumbo-jumbo? I won't be giving up the cow, I love cheese too much, and my shakes. I don't know if one has anything to do with the other, but I'm going to wait a few more days and then see what happens.

Well gals, that's enough for now. Have to go watch CROSSING OVER then run a bunch of Monday errands.

Please don't forget TOMORROW NIGHT IS CHAT AT 9:15PM EST Hope to see you all there!

I'll check in with you all sometime later today.

Have a great week!

Hey! It worked!!!:D
Thanks, Deb.

Actually, I didn't run this morning- good workout, but met a neighbor I haven't seen for a while when I stepped outside so we walked and talked instead. Hopefully the flapping jaw burn't some calories. It's a really gray, almost rainy day here and it's real hard to get motivated. My boss called and told me she was sick and not to go in to work this am, so I have a morning off. Feels weird.

;)

The scale is still playing "pound up, pound down" games- gearing up for TOM I'm afraid. Maybe I'll see a drop after that, but at my age is getting so weird I never know what to expect!

Speaking of age- didn't you leave someone out of the birthday list, Deb??

Was last week a fluke or does the board get that busy as soon as the weather gets cooler? 5 pages! I can't keep up and reply personally, but it's great to see everybody all revved up.

QUICK QUESTION

How do you all feel about making a board titled MY STORY or something a bit more catchy? We could put our stories (in my case, much a horror story) about our weight struggles.

Any ideas? Throw them at me!

Gotta run

Hello--I know I was AWOL over the weekend--but the yard sale just wiped me out! I spent all day FRiday getting set up--then didn't sleep very well Friday night afraid I wouldn't hear the 5 AM alarm. The sale went very well--it was a gorgeous cool morning and the crowds were good and steady all day. I sold the vast majority of stuff that I put out. My closet is so empty now! We ended at 12:00 but as I was toting up the money a car load of large size women arrived about 12:30--they didn't want to go through all the stuff I had so neatly packed up--but I told them they could have the entire basket of sweaters and slacks for thirty bucks--they took it! I was going to send it to the Salvation Army anyway and they promised that whatever they couldn't use they would see that someone got it. It's amazing what people will buy. My YS partner put out empty wine bottles--I thought it was stupid--but she sold all but one of them!!!!! Any way I made a nice chunk of money so it was a good day.

I also came home with a kitten. She's black and tiny--at 12 weeks she was the runt of the litter--but is as sweet as she can be. As soon as I brough her home she ran under the sofa and stayed there for the first 24 hours. Yesterday I took an afternoon nap on the sofa and when I woke up she was curled up next to me. She's still suffering some separation anxiety from her litter, but is becoming braver each day about exploring her environment. It was be nice to have a companion in the house! Oh yes--she was born on the fouth of July so her name is Miss Belle--after the Liberty Bell!

BOB and Gator--WAR EAGLE! The game wasn't on TV here so I had to content myself with watching Bama getting beat by SC! I'm not even going to talk about the State-UNC game. Of course you'd think Auburn lost from the way the coaches are grumbling. Apparently it was a very sloppy game! Nest week Mississippi State--those D**m cowbells always give us fits.

I went back and read all the post from the weekend--my it was a busy week! It seems we had a lot of losers last week.

Deb--congrats on your new low!

I can't respond to everyone personally, but hope everyone has a good week!

Sorry I have been MIA for so long, but it was necessary. First let me say that BIL is OFF the heart pump & the respirator . We are so happy that he has come so far. He is still CRITICAL, but alive & gaining.

Next I'd like to welcome ALL you NEWBIES . I SCANNED THE LAST BOARD VERY BRIEFLY & SAW LOTS OF NEW NAMES. tHIS IS WONDERFUL! Looking forward to getting to know all of you.

Now, about reaching goal. I did manage to stay at my goal weight several days, but yesterday was a diaster. I ate verything in site. Friday night we did Chinese food, then yesterday at work someone brought in chocholate cookies, fig tarts, & fudge brownies & my will power went out the door! By the time I got home I truely could have kicked myself if I could have reached. But too late for that I guess.

Today is a new day & I started it out right by walking. It has been so beautiful here in SW LA that I have been yearning to be out there walking again, but just have not been able to get to it till today. It really felt good, but let me tell you that I am really OUT OF SHAPE. My heart was racing so fast that I could not get an acturate count, but it was over 160 :o . Even 5 minutes after cool down it was still 135  It's my own fault for not keeping up with the exercise during the summer months. I can only start back from today.

I was almost back home from my walk when a neighbor pulled up along side of my & said, "You're just going to waste away if you don't stop losing!" I  it!! I told her no, that I'm right where I need to be but!!! I HAVE GIVEN IT ALOT OF THOUGHT & HAVE DECIDED TO LOWER MY GOAL WEIGHT TO 135.

Well ladies, it's not a personal hello to each of you, but I got to go. I'm working 3-11 today. I'm off tomorrow, so I'll try to read & post some replies then. Hope each of you have a blessed day & enjoy this wonderful sunshine!!

Sorry I was AWOL this weekend. Had to go out of town for a bridal shower. Unfortunately, I also ate everything this weekend. It was very hard since I had just started the program again and I was at my grandmothers. She always has good food. We had Bar-B-Q on Saturday night. It was really good!

Anyway, it is back on the wagon today. I'm going for my walk this afternoon. It isn't very long, but very hilly so I get a good cardia workout.

I did have one good thing this weekend. My massage therapist (who is also one of my best friends) said that my flexibility was improving and that she could tell that my thighs were becomming a bit firmer. :smug: Always good to hear.

Im not looking forward to WIW due to this past weekend and TOM, but we'll see. As long as I don't go up, I'll be fine.

Couldn't get caught up with the weekend posts. You folks were a loquacious bunch so I can't respond personnaly, but I hope everyone has a good week. I happy to find a group of real women who are in the same boat I am.

Check back later.

Hello all,

Hope everyone had a great weekend! The weather here in AL was, and is still GREAT :smug: - Hope it holds out through the week so we can finish fall baseball up. I'm so tired of running to the ballfield. It was OK last year because fall ball is very laid back and I only had my oldest one playing - this fall, with both playing, I am ready to throw the scorebook to someone else and say "I'm done!" and go to the house. :dizzy: I've had no time for exercise since the beginning of September because of this! I need my normal routine to come back to me!!! If I get through this week, things should be back to normal - thank goodness!!

My neice is much better - thanks to all for the kind thoughts. She is a bit of a handful and adding to that the diabetes, it will be a full time job for all family members in trying to keep her out of trouble in the next few years!!

BOB - did I miss the season opener for ER??? Oh no! That is one of the few shows I still watch regularly!! How can I find out the details of what I missed???

Fillise - I'm with ya on the WAR EAGLE!! ;) Glad you made it through the yard sale. I love kittens, but my dh hates them, so I can't have one :( . They are soo sweet.

DEB! - 121 WOW. That is so great!!!! BTW - I like the idea about the stories too!

Hi everyone

It is a beautiful day here again, sunny and cool. But I won't be having any bike rides to-day. I still have a sore hand and a sore knee. Hope I am fit enough for work tomorrow afternoon. And it looks like I will be missing badminton for a week or two. I guess I will have to get out my exercise videos. Can't afford to slack off too much.

Deb - Glad to hear the scale is still down for you to-day. Mine was up a little - but then I wasn't supposed to get on it to-day so I will just ignore it. But it was a reminder that I had better go easy on the cookies. I will let you know what happens with the cheese. I haven't cut down on it intentionally, just haven't been snacking as much. But who know's what'll happen this week. The cookies I made using agave nectar turned out really good. I have already posted the recipe on the RECIPE BOARD. They are called CRANBERRY OAT COOKIES. I have already finished one of the bottles of agave. I had some on a buckwheat waffle yesterday, some in my cooked apple, and the rest in the cookies. I must have used some on something else too but can't think what it was now. Thanks for doing the happy dance for me. I went back to the HFS to-day and brought some Sprouted Almond Bread. Have you ever heard of it? This one comes from the UK. Haven't tried it yet. Have some whole gain rye bread to use up first. I also bought some FANTASTIC Falafel Mix. I tried this once before and it was the nicest one I had tasted. Haven't seen the brand that you suggested to BOB. Maybe it is not available up here.

Melf - Glad to hear that bil is doing a little better. That heart rate of yours doesn't sound very good to me. It should never be that fast just from walking. Have you had a physical lately. I think it is something you should get checked out. You could be fibrillating. JMHO.

Rhroo - I am never bored with your posts. You usually are able to make me smile.

Jred and Lizery - Loved your pictures. And Lizery what a beautiful daughter you have. She has your lovely smile.

Fillise - Glad your yard sale went well. Sounds like you will get lots of enjoyment out of Miss Belle. I love them when they are tiny.

Gotta run. Have to go to get my glasses fixed. I broke an arm off when I fell yesterday. Luckily I had another pair to wear.

Have a good week everyone.

Marie.

Hey Y'All!

Got a few things accomplished today, nothing exciting, bank, Kmart, pita bread, Wild Oats, etc.

Lauren was so excited to find that she won a script from some movie called SUMMER CATCH that starred Freddie Prinz Jr., which he had signed, she is tickled pink-not to mention hogging the phone to call all her friends:)

NANCE, first, you best send me your new e-mail addy! Second, I dropped the film off at KMART today and they should be back on Wednesday, so be prepared! Aren't you proud of me, it only took me a month to get them in!!! LOL!!!

MEL, I'm CERTAIN you must of burned a few calories yapping today:) Of course, not quite as many as you would of if you'd of run, but there's always tomorrow. Im ignoring the bday comment like I'm ignoring the bday-I'm not one to lie, but darned, it sure is inviting to start. I think 37 is a good believable lie;)

LIZ, I think you are probably at least 10 degrees cooler than us down here-push it a little south, would you? You can post your story on this baord if you'd like, but then we will archive all the stories together on one board-thanks again for bringing that up! I'll have to make my nutshell story a little bigger-not that it's anything exciting. I second ROSALIES post about your daughter-she's adorable! I love seeing pics of all the gals on the board-and it's fun to see the families as well! Hmm, maybe I'll post a pic of me and the kids:)

FILLISE, glad to see you had a great sale this weekend-now that the closet is empty, you slowly need to add things to fill in the gaps now. I love finding great clothes at garage sales - sometimes I buy things that aren't even my size because I know SOMEONE will be able to use them-quality name brands like Claiborne, Jones NY, Dockers, etc-some still new! And where did you bring Miss Belle home from? Is she getting more use to her new environment?

MELF, good to hear the news about your BIL. Hope he continues on his road to recovery well. Don't worry about that one day you had, you're right back on track. I'm sure that if I started on just one thing, I'd do the same thing-a reason I won't cheat, because once I start, there's no turning back for me, and I know it. I thank my lucky stars that I found SB LEGAL desserts to have once in a while, otherwise, I don't know what I'd do in the long run. Had a piece of carob cake this afternoon, just 2oz., and I savored every bite! You'll surely make your goal of 135!!!

JMUIR, glad to see you back. Sounds like you had a nice weekend. What's with BBQ and everyone? I guess it must be something we all love! Hope you enjoyed the walk, I just realized, those of you who are in hilly terrain must have nice tight butts-no wonder mine is flabby living in flat land terrain!!!

TV, thanks for posting your BIO on the BIO BOARD - always nice to learn more about each of the wonderful people who make up our great board!!!

RHROO, so what's on the birthday agenda for you on Wednesday??? Definitely take off from WIW this week, that is if you think you're going to be up on the scale, why ruin a perfectly good birthday:o

ROSALIE, don't like hearing you're not up to par, that really must of been some nasty fall. Broken glasses, sore knee, sore hand - I hope you prop yourself up on the couch for a little bit and pretend to be Queen so others do for you for a little bit:) Play it up for all it's worth is my motto!!! LOL!! Thanks for posting that recipe, sounds like a good one, one I'll have to try. Never heard of the Sprouted Almond Bread, but it sure sounds delicious! When I make the falafel, I make it into a 3oz patty and use a small 6" pan, put a 1/2tsp of oil and fry one side, then add the other 1/2tsp of oil and flip it over on the other side. I'm so ridiculously hooked on them, I've been having them every day for the past week or so!:^: Do you know how to make the taratour (sauce) for them???

Okay gals, I'm outta here for now-I'll check in with you all before I go to bed if the computer is free!

Deb - A board for MY STORY sounds like a good idea. No, I've never heard of TARATOUR sauce but I was just checking the web and saw some recipes. I've never tried the Tahini either. I'll have to put it on my shopping list.

My story:

I was always a very thin child and teenager. I weighed about 135 lbs when I was 18. I had a boyfriend then who was extremely critical of the way I looked. I didn't have the right shaped body, needed to build my legs etc. I gained about 17 lbs in a few years and would up going to WW. I thought I was HUGE at 152 lbs. I didn't even last one day on WW. I felt completely out of control with that way of eating. So I just gave up. I exercised like crazy, every day for at least an hour at aerobics, then jogging, then weight training. I got back down to 136 lbs. But my eating habits were nuts!I would eat 1/2 a pizza, then go run! Go to the story and buy a bag of candy then feel horrible and sleep all day. Once I got a real job in a restaurant I was so excited. Fried this and that! I lived to eat! Still exercising all the time just so I could pig out. Then I got a job at a retail store and even at 140 lbs or so I could not wear hardly any of the clothes there because I had big breasts. It totally depressed me to have to buy the men's shirts there. Over that time I broke up with my boyfriend ( good riddance ) and started going out all the time. I loved that!!! I could eat almost what I wanted because I was out almost all night 4 nights a week dancing!! Then I decided to go back to school and moved back in the my parents. I was 21. Well ,then I started drinking beer almost every day. I gained 30 lbs in about 18 months. I was about 170 lbs and still was not really fat but the only excercise I was really getting was waiting tables and walking a few days out of the week. I then started dating a new guy. And before I knew it, I got PREGNANT! AHhhh. We were planning on getting married anyway but for some reason being pregnant at 22 threw me into a horrible depression. I gained 13 lbs in my first trimester. I stopped MOVING. I sat on the couch, went out to lunch etc. I weighed 232 lbs the day I delivered. After I had my son, I was breastfeeding and still felt ravenous all the time. I lost 30 lbs right away and then gained it right back. I felt horrible all the time. I knew that the key for me was walking and excercising but I just could not get going. Finally I got on the move and started walking again. When my son was 18 months old I started taking an anti-depressant. It helped me so much, helped me to not think so negatively about everything. I started my walking again and got down to 190 lbs. I gained about 10 lbs back and settled at 200. I was happy with that. I needed to lost a little more but I really started feeling better about myself. Then I got pregnant again. Oh boy, I was so sick. I didn't gain any weight for 5 months because I was so sick. Then I gained 47 lbs in 4 months!!! UGHHH! So I was 247 when I delivered my 2nd son. After much hard work and a few months of diet pills ( shame on me!!) I got down to 207. Then, you guessed it, I got pregnant again!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL my first dr appt I weighed 215. I was 267 when I delivered. I lost down to 240 then I have had some major things happen right after I had her. My little baby brother got sentenced to 5 yr 10 months in prison, I broke my ankle in 3 spots and my leg in one. Dislocated my foot. It took me 6 months to feel *normal* again. Of course when I got on the scale I weighed 263 :( I was so upset, I just cried and cried. I felt so out of control, like, WHY BOTHER??? I just ate what I wanted but I was still feeling horrible. I then talked to a lady at the park who had lost 55 lbs and went from a size 16 to a size 4! All doing SB! I thought "Well, it is certainly worth a try". I already had the book, I had snagged it from my mom ( who has since snagged it back LOL ) and I read it in one day and it was like this BIG light bulb went off. I took a look at what I was eating. Stuffing myself with bread, stuffing, rice,pasta--all packaged foods and straches. I was craving sugar in an outrageous way. So, I quit. Cold turkey. I have had a couple of relapses but nothing to worry about. I honestly *feel* better than I have in years. I find myself looking at what others eat. All the bread and potatoes and pasta. Restaurants will sabotage you with the huge portions they give out. I am for sure doing this long term and will tell everyone who wants to listen about it.My first goal is 180 which was my weight right before my first child. In the long run I think 150 is a reasonable weight for me but I will jump for joy the day I hit 200. Thanks for reading!!!!!

Happy Birthday to all the Birthday Girls this month. Rhoo, SEF, and SolShine--I hope this month is especially good for you.

Solshine--Sorry I missed you today at the gym. Jim said that you came in this morning, so I figured you were still interviewing. :( How is the job search going? I was thinking about other options for you, trying to think if I knew of ANY place that might be a possibility. The only thing I could come up with was working with one of the big firms in town that need a computer support staff. I know that all the big law offices use computer in-house support people that teach lawyers how to use their computer, get rid of viruses, etc. I don’t know if that is down your alley or not, but if so, might be a possibility. I do know that it can be a hard job.
How is Vince doing? I used to see him working out, but it has been a long time. I suspect he has been busier than a bee after Sept. 11. With those guys in FLA, our law enforcement men must be working overtime.

Debelli--I ate 1275 cals today. 30% protein, 40+ carbs, and about 28% fat. That is as close as I can get it. Thanks for your encouragement. It keeps me “honest” to what I eat. Also, I enjoyed reading your history, although I think I had read it before. It, too, reminded me that this IS a Way Of Life, and not just a passing diet. Again, I long to be experimenting with maintenance.

As far as Halloween is concerned, I use 2 methods to stay “safe.” 1. I buy only candy that I don’t like. I don’t tempt myself by buying plain hard candies. For some of you it may be licorice, or cinnamon candies.
And 2. I sometimes either am out of town for a game or something, or, if I am at home, I don’t buy any candy at all, turn out all the lights and just don’t answer the door. I know that sounds like there is a bit of Scrooge in me to do this, but I figure that if I am going to have trouble with the candy, it is better to be Scrooge for one night and protect myself, and let the kids get the candy at the other houses. I have tried to put myself first on this particular holiday, and so that is how I cope. Those of you with kids at home might try using a candy that you don’t like, and just letting your kids or your husband keep you honest with the candy that they bring home. I know it is a tough holiday. I LOVE chocolates and that was always hard not to raid my kids’ haul to nibble at their miniature Snickers.

Fruit and Sef--I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to sound upset. I really wasn’t upset, but was just trying to answer Big Orange’s question logically and so brought out more than one point to express my point of view in response to her query. Actually, I try not to let the actions of a bunch of 19 year old boys determine my mood, because, as you said, Fruit, it is just a game. I promise that I was really calm when answering, but I apologize for coming across too strongly. I’ll try not to do that again.

BIg Orange Babe--I agree with Deb. Keep treating yourself gently. I hope it won’t be too hard or confining to give it all up at one time. Also, as she said, you won’t know if it is wheat or dairy if you stop both at once. Experiment gently, OK, girl.!

Zanne--I am probably the worst about replying to everyone. I usually just pop in here really quick, glance through all the posts as fast as I can and try to zip out a reply to hit the high spots. I often open a separate window in a word processing application and type everything in that and just copy and past onto our reply board. That way I never lose anything or have to retype, since I’m trying to be speedy. I’m taking more time tonight, tho, as my DH is at class and I have a few more minutes. So I’m scrolling down the screen and typing in the other window as I read something I can answer. But I NEVER get everyone in my posts, even though I’m crazy about all the gals and can identify with their daily challenge with food.

Lizery--Good Pix. You look glamorous.

Fillise--I’m guessing from your post that the MSU game is an away game for the Plainsmen. Looks like the western division will be a tough one. AU is still unbeaten, right. Should be a good game down there in Starksville. The Bulldogs had an off day on Saturday, but should be loaded for bear (or in this case, eagle) by Saturday. They have a very good defensive coach, so AU will have its hands full. Good luck to both you and SOLSHINE, and may the best team win.

Congrats on your new little kitty. Our cat just got home from the weekend at the vets. He was in a cat fight and got a bad abscess that wouldn’t heal. So I took him to another vets that specializes in only cats, and they did some minor surgery. He is pitiful and sad and wants to go outside in the worst way.

Melf--You go, girl. You know what weight is good for you, so go for it! I’m sorry that your life has been so challenging right now, but rejoice with you over the good news about your BIL.

Lizery--Just read “your story” and thank you for it. I, for one, will give you a great big pat on the back and {{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}} for hangin’ in there when you had so many challenges. And you’re down to 246, almost 20 pounds lost. That’s great.

Rosalie--How is the road rash feeling today. I hope it is clearing up quickly and you’ll be back on those wheels.

Well, gals. This is 2 pages on my word processing program. Have to study some French tonight, and I still have the kitchen to clean up. Take care, all, and have a great evening.

This week, think about how you would like to live in the
future, and then do just one thing that takes you in the
direction you want to go. Highly successful people are
gentle with themselves, and we can learn from that.
Decide to do one thing different, and then follow-through.

Miss Belle is purring in my lap as I type. She is showing great interest in learning to type!

Sol--Keep those dadgum cowbells out of Auburn. Man those things are annoying! I guess that's the idea!

Gator--the game is in Auburn this week. It is the first home game since Sept. 11--so we'll see what the security is like. I hope they get it ironed out before ya'll came the next weekend. Just heard that game is going to be on ESPS--good--I'll be able to watch it in NC!

BOB--I'm glad we don't play SC this year--I'd just as soon meet them in Atlanta in December. Sorry.

Deb--I'm going to be very picky about the clothes I buy from now on! I'm not buying too much--just enough to get me through to the next size!:) Miss Belle came home from the yard sale! I didn't buy anything but fell in love with one of the kittens there to be given away.

Melf: Glad to hear that your BIL is doing better! That is rough surgery even under the best of circumstances.

Liz: Thanks for your story! I can sure identify with the up and down--and I don't even have Kids to show for it! But you are here now and that is what counts. Isn't it amazing how much better your feel?

TV--shameon hubby for not liking adorable kittens!

Marie--hope you knee and hand feel better soon. I know from the hurt knee business! It is not fun! Take care of yourself.

I did get to the gym today--60 minutes of cardio plus the strength machines. I can be so tired before I go--but it really picks me up for the rest of the day!

Have a good evening everyone!

Susan

Looks like there are some Mississippi State Fans here. I have the curious distinction of being both a Gator fan and a bulldawg fan. My father is an MSU alumni and we were at the game. Saturday was his birthday, and the dawgs had never lost a game on his birthday until Saturday. It was a real bummer. I hope things look up for the dawgs next game. I have always said that the only time I will root against the gators is when they play the dawgs. That was really hard to do Saturday, but my Dad was worth it. :p Kelli

Hello all
I promised that I would try to write more this week and this is the first chance I have had today.
We had a very busy weekend and I was not good the whole time but compared to other times in my life when I would fall off the wagon so to speak, I did pretty good. At least I didn't eat while passing out food at the concession stand Friday night.

TV .....I tryed to send youj something on your work email and it would not work. Send it to me in a message here on this board and maybe I can figure out what I did wrong. :o

Deb.....so glad to hear about your new number.....it is alll about numbers isn't it?

To all the rest I will try to read and post ....but I must say it is very hard for me to keep up......but I am trying.

See you all tomorrow.

Deb :)

Hi all! Just got word that my bil's bypass surgery has been postponed and will be rescheduled, hopefully for Wednesday. It must be rough being psyched up for something like that and then being told oops! He was told they had a couple of emergencies.

Been a very busy day amd I am tired sp woll not really answer individual posts.

The one problem with writing and not really knowing each other,
is we miss the tone of voice and facial expression. I know the football fans weren't really fighting. I was just poking gentle fun at your ardor! Sorry about that!!

Susan, a new kitty, how sweet! My big old cat is so much company, he can be very cuddly but can't hem him in or brush him when he doesn't want it! He's my constant companion, more like a dog in that respect!

Melf, glad your bil is doing better.

Welcome to you Kelli and the other newcomers, you'll find lots of help and support and fun on this Board.

Got to go, take care, Shirley

DEB - HOW COULD YOU FORGET (EVEN THO ON PURPOSE) YOUR BIG DAY ON THE 4TH. DON'T YOU THINK WE WANT TO WISH YOU A HAPPY bIRTHDAY AT THE APPROPRIATE TIME! fOR SHAME TRYING TO ROB US OF THAT PLEASURE! TSK! TSK!

Good Tuesday Morning Everyone!

Don't have but a few minutes to post, have to jump in the shower and get ready to spend the day shmizing with my Mom today-don't have to p/u the kids from school, Eli's working, so figured I'd call Mom and see if she wanted to do anything.

Got in my walk today, no jogs, legs felt heavy (or is this what old gets to feeling like?) Beautiful day outside I must say, hardly sweated!

Scale is up 1lb, not complaining-I'll probably go up a bit more, TOM is due in the next day or so:rolleyes:

ROSALIE, you CAN'T have a falafel without the taratour-it would be so dry! I made mine thinner than normal, 1 clove garlic and 1/2 tsp salt mashed together, stir in 2 tbl. tahini, then stir in 2 tbl lemon juice alternating with 4tbl of water-put in fridge to sit for a while to thicken a bit (you can add a bit more tahini or less lemon juice to thicken it a bit more). That's it!

LIZERY-thanks for sharing your story!!!! You'll make your goal!!! Yes, def. post your SB start weight.

GATOR, sounds like you are doing better with your intake, but it's still a tad too low. I would see how the scale has been for you in recent months and if it's not really going down, try to up your caloric intake some more-personally, I think it's too low. I eat more than you do.

LARA, glad to see your post! Can't wait til you are back with us a bit more-miss seeing your posts. Please let us know how you are doing!!!

BOB, don't you know that birthdays down here in Miami just don't count?

CB, glad to see your post! Just jump on whenever you are able to-we all know how hectic life can be at some times. Like I told LIZERY, I hope you will try to make our next meeting we have, which will probably be in the Orlando area after the first of the year:)

FILLISE, glad to hear Ms. Belle is doing better. Def. don't buy too much, I bought things and before I knew it they were too big, and I didn't even get to where them-they still have the tags on them!

BUSDEB, I guess a lot has to do with numbers, at least for me that is-but also the way I can find clothes, which is still hard even though I'm at goal-I'm short, makes it hard, even petite stuff doesn't fit me right!

SEF, are you trying to tell me you aren't going to miss the chance to rub it in that I'm 40! I'm trying to downplay this event as much as possible. I'm going to lie from here on out-I'm only going to be 37! ;) I wonder if it's believable??:?: Can we just skip Thursday???? And your plans for your upcoming bday would be??? It's a biggie, isn't it!!!!

Please don't forget TONIGHT'S THE CHAT AT 9:15PM EST I'll post a direct link to the board later on when I post. And of course, I must remind you that TOMORROW IS WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!!! I wish you all good luck with the metal monster!!!:D

Hope you all have a wonderful day.

Sonya hangs her head in shame and vows THAT kind of loss will not happen again for a LONG TIME!!

BARBIE I was born and raised in Starkville, MS. Both parents graduated from there - my brother and I graduated from there and we've had season tickets to every Baseball, Basketball, Football season since I was born. My family BLEEDS MAROON & WHITE . Jackie Wayne has really done great things for MSU and we don't want to go back to being a losing team again. I think Saturday was a fluke. I think the Gators were still stinging from last year and had a special can of whoop a** saved up "special" for our DAWGS.

BOB & FILLISE - Meister graduated from USC and every week-end he asks how they did and then checks the scores 3 and 4 times not believing that they are really something to contend with. He's having a blast hearing about their wins. 'Bout them cowbells.......They don't call us "COW COLLEGE" for nuttin'! We practice ringing them thangs!! I'll just send some ear plugs your way, SUSAN! :D

GATORGAL - You made some good points there, but dadgummit, couldn't they cut us SOME slack?? It's not like we're not FSU or anything. Vince is not working out at Fitness Coach right now. He's concentrating on the SWAT team try-outs and his martial arts stuff. Sorry I missed you, though. I've been scouring every place that has job postings in print and online. Not much response even from the resumes I've sent out so I'm getting more aggressive with my follow up. I still think ORHS is my best bet - I just wish "corporate America" would creep along a little faster.

MARIE I'm soooooo glad you're okay!! When I was reading and I saw the part about the fall I thought "well, she's posting so she must be okay...." I totally know what you mean about "needing your space". When I'm roller blading don't get your butt ANYWHERE NEAR MINE!!! :nono: Vince laughs at me, but I'm serious!! I need my space on those trails! I weighed in on Saturday at 194.5, then yesterday at 197 and today at 195.5. I'm hoping tomorrow will be a good one for both of us!!

DEBBIE - CONGRATS ON THE NEW ALL TIME LOW!!!!!! 'Been thinking about your goals and I think you need to get where you're comfy. People who see you all the time - and especially at your higher weights - have trouble seeing lower weights as normal, maybe. My best friend and roomie in college was 5'2" and a size 1. She weighed 92 lbs. soaking wet. How we got to be friends I'll never know - we made a perfect 10, though. She was the 1 and I was the 0. ;) ) Anyway, people told her she was too thin a lot. She got up to 105 lbs. one semester and it ALL went to her hips and it was obvious that she WAS right to stay around 92 lbs. for her size and very tiny frame. My point is that you should be able to decide on a safe, realistic weight for you.

"My story Board" sounds like a good idea. Oh, and I've been working out. Weights one day, walking the next. Just haven't posted on the exercise board. I haven't voted yet because I weigh anywhere from 2-5 times per week and I don't know which option that would be. I don't weigh every day and I try to only weigh on....say....Saturday and WIW, but cheat and get on maybe one or 2 more times during the week.

MELF So glad to hear from you and that things are getting better! Continuing to send prayers up for you and your family!

LIZ and JRED GREAT PICTURES!!! Thanks for posting them!

LIZ enjoyed reading your story, too! Been there done that on the up and down. I lost about 30 lbs. by working my butt off, but still eating fried mushrooms almost 3x/week. When I quit working out the weight came on at world record pace. You're right about being in the right place to get things back on track!

SEF I was thinking about the memorial flag and it seems like there's some protocol as to how those are to be handled. FROG or NANCEMEISTER may be able to provide some more information on that from their awesome military men. I don't know off the top of my head, but I'll look and see if I can find it in some of Meister's stuff.

Halloween.........I haven't passed out candy in years and decided that this year I was going to do it. I like GATORGAL's idea of buying candy that I don't particularly care fo so I'm not tempted to indulge. Candy isn't really a sore spot for me - well, maybe just a few types - but I don't think it will be too hard. My problem is more along the bread line. Now, if I was passing out donuts or muffins or cake or something - then we'd have a problem, Houston....

Still on the job hunt. MEL I hope your interviews went well for you and Hubby! Hopefully you, NANCEMEISTER and I will be doing the happy dance together soon! I'm starting to look at the cheapest way to eat on this plan. Fresh fruits and veggies can get to be expensive. Any ideas out there on that one??

 for everyone else! HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!

Good morning everyone

It's another nice sunny day here to-day. I just love this weather. I'm feeling a little better to-day. The hand is still sore but it is more of a nuisance than anything. I'm having trouble turning keys, opening jars etc.

Deb - It would have been nice to prop up on the couch yesterday and be waited on but nobody was around to do it for me. So I went to bed early instead as I was feeling pooped. . Thanks for the recipe for Taratour sauce. I've put tahini on my shopping list so I will be prepared when I make the falafels. The last time I had them I put them in pita bread with lettuce, tomato etc. and mayo. This is the way my dil's Mom does them in their store . They taste good this way but I am always ready for a change. I haven't decided about Halloween yet. I always used to buy stuff that I liked in case there was any left over. That definitely has to change. Although with a bit of luck I'll have to work an evening shift that day then the problem will be solved

Solshine - Glad to see that your weight has been down this week. Even below 195 - that's great. I wish you luck for tomorrow. I'm with you on the voting tbis week. I've been weighing two or three times a week. That's WIW and the weekend. So I voted 'other' as no other option was appropriate for me. Do you like lentils? This is quite a cheap item and you could make it with some veggies and serve over brown rice as a vegetarian meal. Or you could use it as a side dish with meat or chicken. There are lots of recipes on Rick Mendosa's site. They are all for CHANA DAL but they can be made with any other type of LENTIL or SPLIT PEA as most of the recipes were originally converted from other lentils to chana dal. I sometimes have them with rice, or I will have them cooked and drained and mixed with some veggies and put in pita bread with salad and top with cheese. If you are interested let me know and I can suggest some recipes for you.
http://www.mendosa.com/chanadal.html

BOB - I don't have THE BEST OF LEBANON cookbook anymore. I borrowed it from the library. But I've got the instructions from Deb.

Fillise - You're wise about the clothes. I had to replace most things in my wardrobe in the early spring this year. Now I don't have any nice clothes to wear for the winter. I'm still reluctant to buy too much as I was hoping to be down another size by now but I guess I will have to go and splurge soon.

Greetings to everyone I've missed and good luck with WIW tomorrow.

I won't be at chat tonite as I have to work evening shift.

Bye.

Hi ya'll!

My oldest son won his first tournament game last night! It was a one of those games that makes your heart flutter! My guts were in a knot most of the time. I got stuck being the "official score/bookkeeper" , so I had to sit behind the plate. It is too intense back there for me. I saw one pitch coming straight at my son's head and almost had a heart attack!! Thank goodness he ducked in time! He is having a hard time batting, his instinct is to wait to be walked, but he is striking out just looking at the ball about 1/2 of the time! I can't seem to get him to understand that you must swing the bat to get a hit!! I think he has a mental block right now, just a little self esteem we need to work on.

Little one has his first tournament game tonight. I will try to make chat but no promises!!

Scale is down by 1/2 lb for me this morning!:) Hope it will stay down at least that much for WIW. I am drinking water like a mad woman today to help maybe get another 1/2 to subtract with it!!

BusDeb - I sent you a private message. Click on your profile button and you should be able to get to it.

Liz - enjoyed your story... will save mine for the new thread.

Rosalie - hope you heal up quickly. I had a bad bike wreck when I was young (busted my front teeth out and my face up pretty bad) and I know how sore you probably are, so hang in there.

BOB - OK, I'll have to catch up online somewhere! I'll probably miss this week too because of baseball!! :^: I figured Dr. Green let that guy die - they'll probably find out and Dr. Green's brain tumor will be back and impairing his judgement or something. Isn't he supposed to be leaving the show? Probably preparing a good story for his going out??

Sef - hope your bil does well.

Deb - I hate TOM!

Will check in later!

Good morning!!! Glad to hear everyone is doing great! :)

Okay..this is only my first week, and I've been avoiding eating out as much as I can. Today though, all the girls at work are going to lunch, and I'd like to go also. However...we are going to an Italian restaurant....pasta central!!! What are some good lunch ideas that I could choose? I mean, I'm sure I could figure something out, but I'd like yall's input because you are so smart! :)

Other than that, I've been doing well. I feel the withdrawals...mostly from the rice and bread...i'm not a true "sweets" eater. I've discovered a few peanuts will remove the craving....which is not really a "craving", but I notice something is not there. Does that make sense?

I think I did get a little cranky with dh too... He is doing sb as well, and is just as happy as a clam! :) I'm happy too...happy knowing I'm ridding myself of toxins!!!

I'll write more later, from home!
Thanks!
Cjane

Hi everyone- It sure is a beautiful day here in Pa. Warm for the first time on a week, and sunny. I got in a 50 min 1/2run-1/2walk before work, but didn't seem to have much energy. I keep meeting up with friends out walking when I'm running, and feel rude not joining them. (and really, who in their right mind would rather run than walk and talk with friends?) Somehow I'll have to work on the protocol of manners/friendship/fitness! It was easier when everone else was staying indoors because it was too hot or too cold!

I've been feeling a BIG CHEAT coming on for the last few days. Maybe too much junk food in the house due to ds's birthday- but I finally decided last night, I would eat the WHOLE bag of white corn tortilla chips that was left from his party. I had thought about it for 2 days and finally decided I just had to do it and get the urge out of my system. Somehow I rationalized that planning it was not as bad as just grabbing the bag and inhaling it on a whim. Now, I have stayed 100% legal since starting SB on 7/24 so I really wrestled with "why do I need to do this?", "how bad could the effects be?", I even asked Jon if he'd still love me:o (he said YES, but that I might not love myself much afterwards). Anyway to make a long story even longer, I ripped open the bag, popped one in my mouth and whoa-- it didn't taste too good! so I ate about 5 more to make sure:lol: but they definitely tasted like greasy cardboard with a lot of salt. I know 3 months ago I would have eaten my way mostly through the bag til my stomach hurt! So I guess this WOE is changing more than numbers on the scale. :) I hope if I decide to eat a pound of chocolate someday that it doesn't taste good anymore either, but somehow I doubt it:p Sooo, my butt is not too sore from falling off the wagon, but I sure fell off mentally!:D

Rosalie- So glad to hear you are not hurt badly, but that sure must have been a scare! Hope your wrist and hand recovers quickly.

Liz- Your picture was gorgeous, what a great smile and eyes and your daughter has the same. Re your story: sounds like you've had plenty of bumps in your life, but know you know how you react to them. You sound from your posts like you're now in a really positive, "control your own life" frame of mind, and have the strength to face what you need to do. Stick with it, we're all rooting for you!

TV-Ah the life of a sports mom! I spent years and years making excuses why I couldn't work at the concession stands, but it was mostly because I was afraid I'd be the one to eat everything. And watching the games is nervewracking! My daughter played field hockey, lacrosse and ran track all through middle school and highschool, and now plays lacrosse in college. Field hockey was the worst, because she was the last line of defense before the goalie. If the goalie was out of position, she would go in the cage and make saves, but without all that protective equipment that goalies wear. One season, she had to get her legs wrapped before every practice and game because she'd remove most of the skin from her legs sliding on the dirt to make saves. Another time, the goalie cleared the ball right into her mouth, and even with a mouthguard, 2 teeth were broken. I'm not sure how I survive her highschool sports career! Now, I really miss seeing all her games since she's 7 1/2 hours away at Ohio State, but I don't miss the constant heart-in-mouth feeling. I love the phone call after every game with the play-by-play she gives me, but I don't need to see her being clobbered over the head with lacrosse sticks!

Thunder- You're going great girl! Seems like you're adding distance to your walks and loosing pounds at an amazing rate;)

Well, gotta go drink some more water to get those tortilla chips out of my system:mad:

oh-stories.... I'm not sure I'm ready for my story yet and this post is too long already. Will get to it soon.

Fillise--Enjoy the game this weekend. They had really tight security at Fla. Field, according to my DH. He could not take in a small gym bag with ponchos, so he had to carry them. The UF-AU game is going to be a night game. That will make our getting back to Calloway really late. :(

CBarbie--I’m looking forward to meeting you in Jan. at our get-together. There a lots of us FLA gals here on this board.

Sef--Yep, we are “ardent” fans. I really think BOB and I could sit down and yack about football for several hours. She probably knows lots of trivia about UT ball, and, similarly, I know a little trivia about Gator ball. We’d debate the relative merits of our respective schools coaches, getting in a “poke” here and there, as true fans will do. Right, BOB? BTW, --Fillise--speaking of trivia, I was THERE, in the very stadium, in person, when Spurrier kicked “The Kick”--the 40 yd. field goal to beat AU in the final seconds of the game in 1966. I lose the year a bit, but I think it was 1966! That was Spurrier’s sr. year, and that kick clinched it for him to win the Heisman trophy.

SolShine--Don’t be ashamed of your team. You are a true fan, through thick and thin. I think it was just bad timing for the Bulldogs: the Gators were “in the groove” Saturday, and the defense was clicking on all 4 cylinders. I don’t think ANY team would have done much better than MSU did. It’s kind of like a runner’s high, where your whole body is so much in sync that you could run for hours. Next week, it may be a different story for the Gators, and also for the Bulldogs. Re. FSU, now THATS where we’d try to RUTS. We’d be happy with 152-0!! So, dear friend, let that maroon blood flow freely and be a proud dawg. MSU will always be a contender in the west.

Solshine--have you been walking in the morning? On the TM or around your neighborhood? I have been wanting to get in a walk everyday, but some days I've been stymied. Today, after I got home from the pregnancy center, I have been stuck here waiting on the cable guy. LOL Maybe he'll come along soon and I can get my walk in before it gets dark. I like to walk on the TM because the humidity is low in there, and the surface is a lot softer than the roads.

Well, gotta go. Take care all you wonderful losers.

Good evening all,

Boy am I proud of myself. :D I went back this evening a walked another 3/4 mile and dragged my butt to the house this time:lol: . I should have let the 2 miles alone but I just had to had a little more to see if I could do it. Not for a couple more days anyway. I felt great after the 2 miles but trying for the 3rd was definitatly not the thing to do. But oh well how would I know if I didn't try.

meliris: My butt has fell off the wagon to many times to count. But I always went back to the right way after. It was to hard to get to where I'm at now. Plus I'm tired of being FAT.;)
I just wish fried catfish still didn't taste as good tho.:D Thats the only thing I have't been able to overcome. I only cheat with it once a month.

lizery: Your little girl is very cute and I see the smile across your face with her. I have a 3 3/4 yr old little girl to and boy does she keep me busy. But I enjoy every minute of it. Welcome to the board.:)

Cjane I know what you mean about the breads thats been the hardest thing for me to because I loved breads. Now I don't crave it at all only when I want a piece I make sure I don't overdo it and I make sure its within my limits and legal. I to have never been a big sweet eater so I had no problem not eating any, thank goodness. But I do miss Reeses Pieces...lol My husband is a diabetic so he eats what I eat. I don't have to cook 2 different ways thank goodness.

Well I better get going everyone have a great evening!

Hope to be at chat this evening I'm looking forward to it! :)

I am looking forward to chat tonight....I enjoyed it so much last week :) I don't think WIW is going to be too good tomorrow. I have been peaking as I always do ......it is not good. I know what has been going on with me .....I just have to fix it now. One thing I am rarely hungry so have been missing meals. Also I have not been drinking water at all. Since it has cooled down here I just don't seem to want it. So first thing tomorrow.....I get back on track with my water and I eat whether I am hungry or not.

You all are doing so good and I am glad to have met all of you.

See ya tonight.

Evening All!

Just got home a little bit ago, had a full day out with Mom. Did a lot of walking in and out of stores, had lunch at Ole Ole, stopped for Carbolite and ready to do it all again tomorrow when Eli is off:D

SOL, thanks for the congrats! I'm quite comfortable where I am, give or take a pound or two. The numbers are fine, it's how I view my body that I'm having trouble with. Once you meet me, you'll understand-that is unless I win the lottery and have surgery before we meet! LOL! I'd say you fall under the "whenever I think about it" category, that or OTHER. I do know you are working out, just felt a bit lonely on the exercise board, wanted you and the others to join in. Good luck on WIW tomorrow, seems you are going down again!!

ROSALIE, glad to hear you're feeling somewhat better today. Just take it easy, as best you can. MAYO, on a falafel-I promise, I won't tell Eli!!!! Let me know when you get that tahini, I'll tell you some other things to do with it-actually, I think I posted a cookie recipe long ago that uses tahini in it.

TV, congrats on another pound down-though all that water, well, lets just hope you make lots of potty calls before tomorrow morning!!! Congrats to your son on his game!! Hey, I hate TOM too, but the other options I have right now would be far worse! LOL!!

THUNDER, congrats on another day of great walking and another pound gone!!! Good job on both aspects!!! Esp. for getting out there twice! I wish you luck as well for WIW tomorrow:) You deserve a good one!

CJANE, I know my thoughts about Italian restaurants are a bit late, but I loved one near us (closed now) and would get eggplant parm., but since they made everything fresh, I had them grill the eggplant without breading, then they put the sauce and cheese- never touched the bread. Chicken dishes without pasta or cream sauces are good too. Most restaurants will usually try to accomodate you, don't be afraid to ask. If you are having cravings, could be hormones, or you may need to up your protein a bit-just stay strong and they WILL pass!

MEL, sounds like you had great weather for your walk/run! Don't beat yourself up about the small cheat, think about it, it could of been a lot worse-just try to stay focused, as best you can-you surely don't want to undo all you've already accomplished!!

BUSDEB, thanks for posting your BIO! It was nice to learn more about you:) Ummm, have you had your water today????? LOL! Okay, did you??? At least you know where your mistakes are and that these are easily fixable, just try to do it soon before it gets to be too much of a trouble, mentally and physically:)

LIZ, this will pass! Don't give in-try to eat some protein. Are you eating enough as it is???

Okay gals, I promised the computer to the kids until 9pm tonight, so off the board I must go.

OH>>>>>MY>>>>>>GAWD!!!!!!! BOB WENT TO THE GYM TONIGHT AND THEY WORKED HER ARSE RIGHT OFF!!!!
But I felt better, and we'll be going again Thursday and Friday night!

T.V. Sorry to be so vague about the show, but I just don't remember everything that happened...I usually don't care for the first show of the season because they do these live things and they just aren't the same. Dr Green DID have an MRI and the TECH did see something, but wouldn't tell him anything but that he would have to talk to his dr.. So I agree...he'll either die or get so bad that he can't work anymore...
This week might be worth taping though..especially since you already know you won't be home...something happens to CARTER..

SOL I tried giving GATOR a talking too, but she just wouldn't give in.... :nono: Bring that bell on in here..my cousin's Husband is a grad from there, the bell sits on a shelf and is brought out for every game they watch...they live in Greenville,SC so he doesn't get to too many live games..I just got a note from her today saying that his mother is having knee surgery tomorrow and he and his siblings are down in Meridian right now.
Is THE MEISTER from SC originally?

SUSAN Don't forget to get your picture taken at the reunion....when are you leaving???? Is BELLE going with you?

MARIE I took a look at Debbie's book while I was down there..I would love to find myself one somewhere...I think I might put the GARAGE SALE QUEEN on the case and see if she can find me one...

KELLI THERE IS ALWAYS ROOM FOR ONE MORE SEC FAN AROUND HERE!!! {{{{{{WELCOME}}}}}}}

ANYONE HEARD FROM KIM???.....how bout NANCY???.....and just where is ANN????

I'll try to be in chat...I'm having computer problems again and have already had to run the scan disk this week...

Debelli:LIZ, this will pass! Don't give in-try to eat some protein. Are you eating enough as it is??? <>

You are right!! As soon as I made my evening salad I realized that at lunch I had had a WW tortilla with beans, low fat cheese and my mexican rice. Not near enough protein for me! So I had a salad with a little cubed chicken then made my own pizza while everyone else had Papa Johns. I did steal some garlic sauce which was legal. My pizza was as follows: WW Pita, leftover spaghetti sauce ( legal ) with eggplant and 3 meatballs. Mozzarella cheese, roasted garlic, spinach and tomatoes. I did skim the toppings ( pepperoni and cheese ) off one piece of PJ's pizza. Man that sauce was SWEET. Thank goodness I was able to get over that hump and tomorrow I will NOT forget to eat more protein.

:D

Mel
10-02-2001, 10:20 PM
Liz- Glad you pulled through that one. I should have thought of the protein. That happens to me too whenever I get into an all vegie and fruit day, or only have cereal for breakfast. Good for you for not grabbing the pizza!

Trying to recover from last Fri-sat-and sun-bit bad on Mon too. I don't know what is up! I have not placed a foot on that scale either and don't plan to untill next week. THink i can do it? Anyway.

meliris-I know that feeling about those chips! dosn't it feel good?? I can't even walk down the bread and cookie asile i can't stand the smell of the bread! The mind does control our mouth if we could just get the brain under control we would be all set huh?

Good Wednesday Morning!

What a beautiful morning! Not only is it a gorgeous day outside, not too hot, not too cool, but I had a GREAT walk/jog this morning!! I HAD A NEW BEST TIME!!! I did the 4.5 miles in 48:59!!!!!That's 22 seconds better than my previous best time!!! AND, I also ran a whole entire mile straight!!!!! Another first for me!!!!:spin:

TODAY IS WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!!!!! I hope the scales are all kind to you today!!!! If you'd like to post your WIW results on the WEEKLY WEIGH IN BOARD, just click on the link below:

http://64.119.161.199/forum/showthread.php?threadid=9784

The scale is up for me from my all time low, but still, I can post a loss as far as WIW goes. On Aug, 29, I was 124, so today, I'm 123. TOM is due tomorrow, for sure, so I'm not fretting about the couple pounds I'm up-it's to be expected.

Eli is off today. We are taking an elderly couple that are regular customers of his at Starbucks to lunch and then the indoor flea market. They are in their 80's, and such a cute couple. So, I'll be MIA until this evening some time.

Thanks to those of you who joined the chat last night:)

BOB, so you got your arse worked into the ground huh? You sure are a glutton for punishment, first my detox dungeon, now a daily dose of dungeon activity-a true S&M lover, I see! LOL!

LIZ, good going! See, I knew you could conquer that craving! This is why I so believe keeping track of what you eat is so important-you can see just where you need to change something, and how easily it can be done:) Keep up the great work!!!

BUSDEB, are you feeling better today???

RHROO, HAPPY BIRTHDAY again:) I'm ignoring mine tomorrow. Rhonda, if it takes you 3 years to get to your goal, I'm going to commit hairy-carey! I hope you meant that you want to still be at your goal weight when you hit 40! But, to answer your question, yes, I feel better than I have felt as far back as I can remember. LOL! Every time there's a holiday, or birthday, Eli gets in a crappy mood, it's expected, so tomorrow, I'm sure I'll have a sucky day too! You'd think he would of taken the day off tomorrow to spend with me! I should know what to expect after 8 years, but of course, you think on days like this, a mans mind would finally kick in and behave normally! LOL!! Have a wonderful day kiddo!!!! {{{HUGS}}}

I've got to run and get in the shower. I hope you all have a great day!!

WOW! I miss 2 days and already we're on the 2nd page!

I've missed cause I had this rotten head cold. I HATE head colds:mad: It finally broke last night. WHEW!

I was hoping to start exercising this week, but no way, not yet anyway. The week isn't over!;)

Started out bad yesterday. Didn't feel like eating but figured I better have something. Had an "instant breakfast" powdered drink thing. Sugar, sugar, sugar! But the day did get better. I even overcame a craving for popcorn, Had a bit of salty salami and some celery instead. I did cave and had a handful of Bits and Bites. Even after that small amount, I felt bad. So I guess I'm getting over "wanting" these illegal foods:smug:

Rhoo Happy Birthday!

Lizery --Good for you for not caving in!

Melf--Glad to hear your BIL is doing better

Sef --Keep us posted on you BIL. Hope he gets his surgery today.

Rosalie --Glad you're doing better after your bicycle spill.

Way to Go! --all of you who got in your exercise

That's it for now. Gonna go flake out on the couch. I'm still not 100%.

Take care all.

As I have been weighing in on Monday's for the past couple of weeks, Wednesday brings me at 158, if I hold steady at 158 that brings me to a 4lb loss from my regain. For those of you who don't know me, my all time low was 154. I'm going to see those numbers again. I have been faithful, for 3 days, about using my abslider and doing push-ups. I started to waiver this morning, but Deb's words pulled me thru. "It's just like getting up in the morning to go to the bathroom or brush your teeth. It's not something you want to do, it's something you have to do." Thanks Deb.

Unfortunatley, I'm still only able to quickly read over the board, but as I told Mary this morning, I think getting up earlier in the morning will give me more freedom to spend time with all of you, but one week and one change at a time.

A quick update on life read's - Sara and Michael's both have asthma which has been rearing it's ugly head now for about 3 weeks, maybe a little more as Michael's had a mild case of pnemonia. Rachel, my 4 year old, started coughing yesterday, so either she has picked up a virus/cold or her asthma decided to come out too. Have to keep an eye out. As for me I seem to be healing well and have another check up next week. DH is doing well too. We have the grass in and it's starting to grow. Our bestfriends wedding is about 40 days away, so the grass should be ready in time for the wedding (their getting married in our back yard).

I have to go, but I'll check back in soon.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, RHROO!

Good morning everyone! Just a quick check-in. Happy birthday Rhroo!! :)

My lunch yesterday went well! I was planning on the antipasto...but they didn't have one!!! I am slowly learning that restaurants here in the South are much different than the ones in Southern California...it's taking some getting used to! This place we went to has KILLER bread...I had none. Amazing for me...my dh couldn' t even believe it when I told him. I also ordered this mexican salad thinking it would be beans, chicken, etc... it ended up being chili on lettuce with some chips. :?: Whatever...it fit in to my plan. I ate the chili and lettuce...didn't touch ONE chip..and had a little salad with blue cheese dressing. Thanks for all the suggestions!!!

Liz...the picture of you and your daughter is beautiful!!!!! You can see the happiness in both of your faces! :)

I wish I could spend more time in here to respond to everyone, but work calls! Hubby will be out of town this weekend, he's a drummer and is going out for some tour dates to indiana and georgia, I think. It's hard to keep up anymore....I just want to know when he gets home!!! :) Anyway, point being, I plan to get on here for a while this weekend and read through all the posts and respond!!!

I'm not going to weigh myself until either Monday, or just wait until next Weds. so I can join in on WIW!!! I will let you all know the score then...but I think things are going well!!

Have a good day!

Sigh. The same. What else is new. At least this week my TOM is impending so at least it is not up. This is just the oddest thing--there is almost no fluctuation--every morning 237 right on the nose. HOWEVER the tape measure continues to be a much better friend. It is down another 1/2 inch in both the hips and stomach. So hey--I'll take whatever I can get!

I'm about to order some slacks from Lands end--according to their measurement charts I should order a 20w (this time last year I was wearing 30w slacks). Has anyone ordered slacks from Lands End? Are their size charts accurate?

I didn't get on the board yesterday. it was busy and I went to an interesting meeting last night. It was held by the Auburn Ministerial Association and the AU Islamic student organization. There were representatives from Jewish, Islamic, and Christian faiths speaking and then the audience got to ask questions. It was interesting and uplifting. For example, we learned that the true meaning of the Arabic word "jihad" is not "holy war" but struggle or striving. And that the highest jihad is to struggle for control over one's self. To give in to violence and hatred is to loose the struggle! Most of the Islamic speakers were very concerned that we separate the political regimes from the religion of Islam. The regimes that are the most repressive seem to be the furthest away from the "true" practice of Islam. The Muslin men and women were appalled (perhaps even more so that peoplec laiming thir own religion would pervert it so). I certainly understand that there have been some things done in the name of Christianity that I don't feel are representative of my religion (for example--the hate, fear, and violence perpetuated by the KKK). I'm willing to make that distinction. The evening ended with high school students from each of the faiths singing together--everyone in the audience rose spontanously, joined hands and sang with them. It was quite moving!

After I left I was emotionally wrung out and wanted some chocolate in the worst way. Not a piece of SB legal chocolate, but really gooey chocolatey something. I went to Kroger and decided on ice cream smothered in hot fudge. I was standing in front of the ice cream freezer weighing my options when I thought about the true meaning of the word "jihad"--struggle or striving. That's what I've been on in the last year--a jihad--a stuggle for control--a striving to improve myself. Given the spirit of the meeting last night I felt an obligation to continue that struggle--all of a sudden the ice cream didn't seem enticing--so I walked away. One more victory in the struggle! I know I certainly don't win every one--but it was nice to win this one.

Have a good day everyone!

The numbers haven't budged a bit for me this week, still at 175/153/135. Last week 4 pounds fell off after nothing for two weeks, so I'm really hoping next week will be a biggie. I'd sure like to be out of the 150's and see a 4 in there in the middle.

Got in 40 minutes of cardio and 180 ab crunches this am before my dr's appointment, but missed my run with the dog. She's looking at me, then the door, then me, very accusingly. Geez, my own conscience is bad enough without jiminy cricket sitting by the door! I guess I'll have to take her out for a trot.
Good news is my dr. wrote a letter explaining (re: jury duty) that I can't sit or concentrate for prolonged periods due to fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue. So hopefully, no jury duty. So much for civic duty, but I really can't do it.

Rhoo-Happy birthday!!! you're so close to goal, give yourself a really big bday present and get there!

Deb-Congrats on the MILE jog! Have you ever plotted out how far you've walked/jogged?
I bet you're close to the Canadian border by now. Another few weeks and you'll be able to do a virtual visit at Zanne's then Rosalie's!:D I figure I've crossed the country at least 3 times, since I've been running or walking for 25 years, but the Rockies slow me down a bit.

Busdeb- Hope you are felling better.

ldblond- Sounds like you have your hands more than full with health issues! Hope your kids are OK and your grass grows quickly!!

Zanne- Hang in there- boy do I hate head colds, too. Hope you can take something to unstuff, or put your head over a big pot of steaming, garlicky chicken soup. Course, I think it works better if someone ELSE makes it for you....
;)

Well, time to do the washer-dryer switch, then lunch, then appease this poor dog.

forgot to put this in my post....

There have been lots of calls for financial help lately from every corner imaginable. ALL good causes. I know I feel terrible looking at the news and pitcures and knowing that my personal financial situation is not good now, so I can't do much. But this board needs help, too, it sounds, and what they are asking for is so little from each of us. I hope anybody who can help will do so (I've put my 2 cents in). I know I'd miss you all and be less sucessfull if the site were not here!

Happy Birthday Rhroo:

Good afternoon all::wave:

Meliris I know what you mean my losing one week and not losing the next I went thru 2 whole weeks this time and Monday I started losing again. Hang in there it will fall off as soon as your body adjusts.

Fillise I love my tape measure in the last couple of weeks I have not lost any weight but lost 4 inches altogether. Then Monday I started losing again. Rah Rah Rah! Congrats on the inches lost!

Cjane my hubby works every other week and I know when it get to the last 2 days it seems like they take forever to get here. Congrats on passing up the bread. ;) I've never had chili on lettece I think I'm going to have to try that.

Debelli congrats on running one mile I don't think I could right now. Not until I lose at least 50 more lbs of fat. But I did do my 2 miles this morning and it feels great afterwards.

Idblond I also have to tell myself if I want to get the weight off I have to keep plugging on with the walking and weight lifting and leg lifts. Keep up the good work it all pays off in the long run.;)

BusDeb you'll lose the other lb then some just keep at it. Its worth it in the long run.

Zanne Sorry to hear you have a cold. I suffer with sinus and allergys so I can sypothyize with you. Every year at this time a certain weed blooms and I get sick. I hate allergys!

I hate I missed chat last nite but I had to go visit with my sister. I haven't saw her in a month. There is 16 yrs difference in our ages so its almost like she belongs to me to.:D But I did get to chat with Melf and sef yesterday. I enjoyed it, thanks we will have to do that again. I will let you know when I get some to the recipes I have come up with. Well I've chattered to much talk to you all later.

Everyone have a great day!

Hi all! I'm finally posting after much lurking. I don't usually have much time on the puter. They finally got mine at school working, so here I am. I'm down a pound this week, which really surprised me since it's TOM for me. I'm not complaining.:D

Sorry for not responding to everyone. I'm still trying to learn who everybody is. I take a peek everyday, though and try to keep up with what's going on with everybody.

Have a good day! ;)

Hi everyone

No loss this week. I was up 1/2 a pound this morning from my last weeks low of 195. So I'll just have to wait and see what next week brings. I've made two batches of cookies this past week and eaten quite a few of them. So I'll have to cool it for a while and stop all baking.

Deb - Congrats on that 1 mile jog. That's fantastic, and a best time too. I bought some Tahini yesterday and to-day I made the Taratour sauce for my falafels. It was good but I need something to do with the rest of the Tahini. I bought a 500 gram jar. It contains just sesame seeds, nothing else added. You said you had some other recipes. I would love to see them. I made the falafels from scratch to-day (well almost - I used canned chick peas). I wanted to try out the food chopper that I bought recently. They turned out good, much less dry than the ones from the mix. But I won't be that ambitious every time.

BOB - Have you checked Amazon.com for the Lebanese cookbook. I saw they had two editions there - one for 12.99 and a spiral bound one for 15.99. Hope your arse is better to-day.

TV - I'm sure that is scary being behind the plate watching the balls coming at your son. Glad he won his game. How did the little guy do yesterday?

Meliris - I laughed at your story of the tortilla chips. I'm glad you didn't fall too far off the wagon though. That's good news about the jury duty.

Thunderwoman - Way to go on the walking.

Catlover - Congrats on the three pounds down.

Zanne - Hope you are feeling better soon.

Ldblond - Glad to see you posting again. I hope you are feeling better and the children are better soon.

Gotta run. Have an appointment at the foot clinic then off to get my boobs squished.

Marie.

Well, I didn't get the extra 1/2 I wanted, but I'll settle with the 1/2 I got since last WIW....

159/146/125 since 6/4/01

Little one won his ballgame last night too! Now both of them play tomorrow at the same time!!!:dizzy: I don't know what I am gonna do!! I hate to miss either of their games.

Deb - good job on your best time! You amaze me!

Rhoo - HAPPY BIRTHDAY:spin: !!!!

Busdeb - I've not been doing well on water either. Maybe we should compete to see who can get the most in - do you think that would motivate us? I started off with a bang yesterday and drank about 24 by 10am or so, then I just couldn't stomach anymore!! I ended up with a diet Dr.Pepper for lunch and Diet Rite with supper.

BOB - thanks - I will definately set up the VCR, however, now that I think of it, since both games are early, I should be home in time to catch it! I hate to see anything else happen to CARTER, he has been through enough already!!!

I have walked about a mile today - by sheer accident - we had a meeting called in our East tower and since it was so nice out a bunch of us decided to walk over. I need to make a habit of walking over there every time I get a chance (most of the time, I'm lazy and drive) . I have really fallen off the exercise wagon since the beginning of Sept. I gotta climb back on!!!

What do you guys think about a bowl of pinto beans for lunch? That is what I am having today? Is that pretty good?

BTW - My mom fixed some candied sweet potatos with brown sugar and all of that illegal garbage last night. I took one tiny little taste (just the tip of the spoon) and the sweetness OVERWHELMED me  Does this mean that I am over my sugar addiction??? I sure hope so. I still would love to have chocolate around TOM, but I think that is hormonal. I used to never say or think something was too sweet. This seems like it must be progress!!

Will check in later,

Hey Everyone!

I haven't fallen off the face of the Earth or anything like that. But I have been having a busy time and a bit of a struggle with my mood and my weight. Good ol' Deb checked in on me and I felt the need to let everyone else know what is up with Froggie!

I have not lost any weight in months! :( My lowest was 146 somewhere around June 1. Today I am at 154. Last week was 151. TOM this week, hope that is the culprit for the 3 pounds that appeared today. With Deb's help I discovered that the medicine I am taking has the side-effect of slowing metabolism. GREAT! But I have been OP like a good little girl. I do think that I may not been eating enough and that I may still be eating too much fat. I am still running, ran 4 miles tonight. But you'd never know it to see the scales. I can tell that I've gained slightly in some of my clothes too. But I am NOT throwing in the towel! I am not going to give up!! :)

I need to revisit Fitday and look at my numbers. I think some of my issues may have been compounded by being out of town 4 of the last seven weekends. I am sooo glad that I have nothing planned that will require me to be away from home for several months! Last weekend I was in my hometown for the weeding of a young woman that I used to babysit for!!! How dare she make me feel old! I was pretty good while I was away, but so sick of eating 4 meals of chicken nuggets in 3 days that I think I've grown a beak! I only had one nibble, a quarter-sized piece of the bride's and groom's cake.

DH is doing great. He has lost some weight this fall and looks great. Thank heavens he has decided not to volunteer himself for the Army (former military officer and the son of the same. Safe to say it's in his genes!).

Now to try to catch up and say my hellos:

DEB - 121 WOW  I like the My Story idea. Could it be part of the bio board rather than a seperate board? You have peeked my interest about dairy products. Perhaps I need to consider that a culprit due to the fat.

How to Avoid Halloween Candy H*ll Halloween will be my one year SB anniversary. I had already purchased my Halloween candy when I started on SB, but I never ate a piece of it. :smug: This is what has worked for me for the 11 months that I have been on SB... I view it as poison, because that is what it does to my body, poisons it! I also try to get rid of it that night! It is a little easier for me than people with children who come in the door with a big ol' bag full. I have an idea for those of you who feel that you will be too tempted to eat the candy you give away, but still want to participate in "Trick or Treating." Give away those cheap plastic spider rings or pencils with a theme like sports or Barbie on them. You can get really good deals on these at Oriental Trading Company (link for rings) (http://www.oriental.com/webapp/commerce/command/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=3369&prmenbr=991&merchant_rn=991&PREFIX=IN&CURRENCY=USD&KIT=I&GROUP=N&navFlag=S&CASE=0) $4.00 plus shipping for 144 rings!! That's cheaper than candy and the kids love this stuff! Our town also has a unique holiday celebration. We have fireworks on Halloween and I take whatever treats I have left and get rid of them there. Hope that is helpful.

Rhroo - HAPPY BIRTHDAY DOLL!

ROSALIE - Sorry to hear about your bike accident. Hope you aren't too bruised.

WELCOME to the following chicks who are new to me!! Zanne, BusDeb, JRed, Lizery, TvthatsMe, ChunkyBarbie, CJane, and Jmuir!!

Lizery - I liked your story, thanks for sharing. Your pic is cute! Love those long locks.

JMuir - I am originally from Columbus, GA. Now live in NC. Atlanta is a great place. My sister lives in Stone Mtn area (Loganville).

Fillise - A kitty! I love one that purrs, makes kitty biscuits and is snuggly. War Eagle. Grad to hear that your garage sale went well. I know what you mean about the things that people will buy. I have sold many bras at sales!

MELF - Glad to hear that your BIL is better. I love your attitude. Go for 135!

Gator - Your Halloween Candy idea is good. I like it all except black licorice whips. YUCK! No temptations there!

BOB - The gym. Ahhnald says, "I vant to pump..YOU up!"

SOL - Your posts make the laugh. The name of your MSU football coach sounds like one of those 2-part southern first names, like he should have a name tacked on to the end of Jackie Wayne.

SEF - There are some sites that have instructions regarding "proper display of the flag." I suggest ask jeeves or about.com. I found mine on an MSN site a few weeks ago. I hope you will be able to find what you are looking for.

Thunderwoman and idblond - HEY to you too.

MELIRIS - Your story about a big cheat story made me laugh!

CATLOVER - Sorry your kids have been sick. Hope they are all on the road to recovery soon.

Well, I guess that does it! I tried sooo hard to say something to everyone who've posted this week. Here's an extra HEY to anyone I've missed!

Look forward to hearing from you guys!

Pray for PEACE,

FROG

Well, I'm still at 182, my body seems to let go of two pounds, then takes it back for a few days, then finally decides it doesn't really need it. At least I'm steady. Two pounds a week is average and I never was a quick loser.

Sorry I can't respond to everyone. My life is so busy right now, by the time I can sit down and read the posts, it's bed time. Know that I keep everyone in my thoughts and prayers.

Fly: Hope everythings okay. Let us know how you're doing. Still praying for ya!

Happy Birthday, Rhoo!!!!

And a big happy 4-0 to our fearless mentor,Debbie!!!!!

I must get to bed. Two more days of early morning duty!

Take care everybody.

Another long day--and tomorrow I leave for NC. I just had a former graduate student over to show her where all the kitty stuff is. She is going to Cat and house sit while I am away. I hate leaving so soon after she got here--but I can't take her with me and I'd rather she spend more time getting used to this as her home. When I am at the computer she seems to want to be in my lap or right at me feet. I will miss her while I am gone!

Deb--Happy Birthday tomorrow!!!! The big 40 huh? Gosh it liked to have killed me--but I have to admit the 40s are turning out pretty well! I hope they do for you as well--especially since you are starting them so thin and gorgeous!!!!!

BOB--I will be sure to kiss all the boys! My first love was my high school sweetheart. I have no idea whether he will be there or not. I hope your arse is feeling better! I thought working it off was --ahem--the idea! :s:

Frog--So glad to see you back on the board. You and I are in the "stuck" brigade. Medication will sure do it to you--but hang in there because it will eventually pay off!

Rhoo--so glad the birthday was at least half decent! It sounds like the shopping was fun!

jred--two pounds a week is great progress! I'd kill to see my scale go down two pounds!

Congrats to all the losers on the board!

I've got to go to bed--I see you in the morning before I leave.

Morning All. Still dark here while I type away.

DEBBIE HAPPY BIRTHDAY! By looking at your pictures, you could easily pass for 37!!! Jeeze, I'm 37 and I try to get away with telling people I'm 26:lol: You're only as old as you feel! Hope you have a wonderful day.

I didn't remember till late yesterday afternoon that I had signed up for swimming classes--and they started last night! After all the chaos was sorted out, we got in about 30 minutes (out of 45) of swimming. It's been almost 30 years!!!:^: :^: since I've taken swimming, but I think I did pretty good. I actually surprised myself that I could do as much as I did!:smug:

The scale actually went down a pound today, but I'll wait till next week to see what it says "officially"

Fillise Your kitty sounds so sweet. I'm sure you'll miss her.

Rhoo Glad to hear that your day turned out pretty good

jred 2 lbs a week is a great loss! Keep up the good work.

Frog Lover Nice to meet you!

BOB Your posts make me laugh. Glad your backside isn't hurting.

Well, gotta go and pack a couple of lunches. I'm going with my son's class to a farm. Whoo- hoo

Have a great day every one!

Are you ready for this?

I stepped on the scale this morning. . .

fully expecting it to say what it has said every morning for 2 months. . .

When I peered through the fingers covering my eyes. . .

I lost a whole friggin pound!!!!!!

This is the first time the scale has budged in MONTHS! WoooHooo!

I hope this is a sign of more losses to come!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEB!!! Hope you have a GREAT day!!

Okay...confession time. I TOTALLY screwed up last night. Had beer and everything!!:( Here's my deal...and I think those of you struggling (or that have made it through) with trying to lose MANY pounds (+100) will understand:

I have been "searching" for some way to lose this weight. Weight watchers, calorie counting, whatever. No pills or drugs, but just a good "plan." Mainly it's been weight watchers. When I was thin (and I was for most of life up until 5 years ago when I had my daughter)...it was easy not to "cheat" or eat wrong because I would gain weight and get "fat." But now that I'm already fat, my mentality has changed to "whatever...i'm already fat, so what's the difference." It's hard to shake that. It's hard to look in the mirror and see what I see.....so....I eat up!! Does that make sense???

So...even though I know this way of eating is waaaay right, it's still hard to believe that without weighing my food, or counting points, or doing tons of work, that I will actually lose weight. I still have this "need" to count points or SOMETHING, and I still have my doubts that it will work...for me.

All I know is I NEED to lose this weight. It is covering up so many aspects of my personality....my self-confidence mainly. I hate to see people who might either remember me thin, or not know that I have gained sooooo much weight!! I embarrass myself, and I don't want to be the "fat mom."

So....last night was a setback ... but today I will try to move forward.

Thanks for letting me just think "out loud." You all are an inspiration!!!!

Yesterday was a full day for me. Weighed in at 196. That’s a loss and I’ll gladly take it, but I REALLY wanted to be at 194.5 – the low I had on Saturday. :D Oh well, it will come. I had a great interview yesterday. I’m so tickled – it’s a company atmosphere very similar to what I had at my last job. Everyone there seemed to be in their 20’s and 30’s – a very young looking company and they mentioned several times that their name stands for CHANGE and that it’s the place where you can be innovative and put your ideas into action. They like trying new things that make the company money and/or more productive. I also would be getting a laptop if I got hired. I LOVE laptops! Best thing is they are going to make a decision THIS WEEK – so I won’t have to wait forever to find out. I had applied for another position at the company also, but hadn’t heard from that HR contact my application went to. I told the supervisor and director I interviewed with and the girl who would be my supervisor said, “Well, we called you first!” That sounds good, right?

OH, YEAH…..Vince put a caveat on the slumber party in January……He HAS GOT to be able to come eat BBQ with us at Uncle Jones!

MARIE I would love to know which recipes you recommend. I haven’t had time to check out Medosa’s site, but I certainly will! I made the Lentil Sausage Soup in the SugarBusters for Kids book and it was yummy! We also made the pasta with peppers in the book, too. The UPS lady came by while it was cooking and I could see her mouth watering when I opened the door. She commented several times how great it smelled. Being slow……after she was gone I realized I could and should have offered to fix her a quick tupperware bowl to take with her. Maybe next time. She’s very nice. I’ll post the recipes today in case you want to check them out. I’m looking for those recipes using the tahini, too. I love the hummus, but haven’t ventured into the falafal ring yet. I should buy some mix or get my fingers moving to find one of those recipes.

TV The game sounds fun! I’ll be going to a friend’s son’s game on Saturday. He loves it when Vince and I come watch him play. Like having his own little fan club in the stands.

THUNDER – You go girl!!! That’s awesome progress!!

MEL Isn’t it wonderful how our bodies take care of that “taste” for illegal foods sometimes? I had to laugh at your rationalization! Sadly, chocolate does not EVER taste bad in my book. Some things don’t change. How did your interview go? And Hubby’s? I’m continuing to believe for y’all to find the perfect job for each one of you.

GATOR I’m always proud to be a DAWG!! Just bruised a little from the pounding. :) They were so bad for so long that it was a joke hoping they would win, but we have ALWAYS enjoyed the games and the fellowship before and after. I vividly remember many many ESPN sports broadcasters talking about how much fun they have at MSU home games. (I think everyone brings them plates of food from their parties.) They REALLY like baseball at MSU and you always see news people en masse in the Left Field Lounge when we’re on TV. My parents have 3 – count ‘em THREE sets of season tickets to MSU games. Tickets for the Left Field Lounge trailer they have with friends. Tickets for the grandstand. Tickets for the skybox seats. They can sit anywhere they want and frequently visit each spot during a game. I go to The Fitness Coach pretty much every other day. I do my weight training there, but walk in the neighborhood here. The weather has been so nice that it’s been a joy to walk outside as the sun is coming up. When it was really hot and when it gets really cold out I’ll probably go back to the TM.

BOB – WAY TO GO HITTING THE GYM!!! It DOES get better, easier and addictive! I never thought it would, but now I can’t imagine missing my work outs. (The ONLY good thing that has come from being laid off. ) Meister was actually born and raised here in O-Town. In fact his parents live on a dirt road that used to be in the middle of thousands of acres of orange groves that are now apartment complexes and gated communities (Metro West). It’s funny driving down this totally urban road and off to the side, tucked away is this little gravel road with houses that are 40-50 years old that you KNOW used to be in the middle of nowhere. His uncle went to school at USC and Vince was going to major in aerospace engineering so that’s why he went there. WHY OH WHY ARE SO MANY GOOD SHOWS ON TONIGHT!?!?! I can't wait to find out who the daddy is on Friends, but I am also VERY addicted to Survivor and CSI. We're going to try the show that comes on after CSI one more time - it wasn't all that impressive last week. Alias on Sundays looks like it's going to be a good one.

RHOO – HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!! I hope it turned out to be a very nice day for you!! You can get that scale in the downward trend and reach your goal.

DEBBIE – HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!! You are kicking a** and taking names on those walk/runs!! I think you may be a contender for the marathon in January if you keep that up!

CJ – Way to go at the restaurant! You’re definitely getting the hang of things and that weight will be melting off quickly! What kind of band is Hubby in?

FILLISE I’m sorry that the scale isn’t moving for you, but I really think you’re replacing your fat with muscle since you’re so faithful to do your workouts (not size, obviously since the tape measure is going down). You’re making tremendously wonderful progress! AND it’s inspiring!! That scale will follow soon and when it does it’ll be a kamikaze fall! Way to go not giving into that jihad at the ice cream cooler, too! Very interesting information on that word – thanks for sharing it.

MUSIC Just post when you can. We love to hear from everyone and share victories and words of encouragement when needed.

FROG Keep on keeping on, Girlfriend! Fitday will help “tweak” you food intake and your running will help offset that medicine messing with your metabolism. We’re looking forward to meeting you in January and setting up camp as your official ‘FROG FAN CLUB’!

 Have a great day everyone!!

Good Thursday Morning Everyone!

I HAVE ARRIVED!!!!! Okay, so it doesn't feel any differently than it did yesterday. At the least, I hoped all the hype I've heard about women reaching their sexual peak at 40 would of kicked in at midnight, but I was dead to the world then! Eli said as for me, I was an early bloomer and must of peaked in my 30's-I told him he better be careful if I hadn't!LOL!!

THANK YOU FOR ALL THE BIRTHDAY WISHES!!!! I appreciate each and every one of them, and each and every one of you!!! You truly make me feel so special:)

Woke up to find red roses, 2 balloons and cards in the kitchen. I think he has plans for us and the kids to go to dinner because he said he didn't want me to take anything out for tonight. Either that, or he's going to cook tonight, which I doubt. He did ask me if I wanted to go to Naples on Sunday for the day, and then to dinner at Marco Island-haven't decided as of yet.

Was going to try and get in a really long walk today, but Eli had to be at work early and I have to take Lauren, so that nixed that idea, but I got out and did my 4.5 miles in 50 minutes, not my best time, but not too shabby for an elderly woman!

Wanted to share something interesting, at least to me on a personal level. Actually, two things. One, last month on my Weight Commander Program, on Sept. 3, I wrote down the predictions it gives for the next 90 days, in 30 day increments. The next incremint was Oct. 2nd, which predicted I would be 122-and that's exactly what I was on Oct. 2nd! THEN, this morning when I opened up the WCP it said HAPPY BIRTHDAY, then it asked me what I would predict my weight to be on my birthday NEXT year. I hadn't remembered doing this last year, but I must of because it said that last year on my birthday I had predicted that I would be 125lbs-not too far off, but thank goodness it's under what I predicted, not over. I think I predicted 123 for next year, I've forgotten already-you know, it's the age thing!!! Something new to blame things on!!! At least the scale is kind to me for my birthday, 121.5 today. TOM is actually due today, and I thought I'd be up, but I think my body is holding out, at least til tomorrow, nice bday present NOT to get it today!

So yesterday, we had a nice day out. Eli has a wonderful elderly couple (both in their mid 80's) that comes in to Starbucks every day and they just love him. They're names are Minnie and Morris. Anyhow, we invited them to spend the day with us up in Broward and took them to lunch at Ole Ole (yes, I went there 2 days in a row!) then we took them to the indoor flea market (more like little stores, no old junk) and they had a ball there. Afterwards, we went to Carbolite (and yes, two days in a row there as well:eek:). They really enjoyed the day out and we promised we'd take them again-they really were a joy to be around.

I have a bunch of things to do today, lots of little errands. One is to get my rear to KMART and pick up my pictures-so I will have some to be posted tonight:s:

TODAY IS RECIPE DAY so if you have any good SB LEGAL RECIPES you'd like to share with the board, please, try to post them today.

So, I'm going to try to catch up with all the posts from yesterday, at least until CROSSING OVER comes on:)

ZANNE, sorry to hear you're not feeling well-hope by today you are better. Ditch those BITS & BITES, think of them more as BITES & POUNDS! Thanks for the bday wish, and for being so nice to think I can still pass for 37-it's a believable age-I'd be pushing it trying to go lower than 35, I think. Good going on the swimming classes!! Great exercise!

BUSDEB, how'd you do with the water and walking yesterday??

LDBLOND, glad t see your post on the board! You are not far above your low, and I know you will get there again, soon. Sorry to hear all the kids are not feeling well in one way or another, hope everyone feels better soon. Let us know how your visit goes-hope you too are feeling better as well. Hey, have you heard from NANCE? We haven't heard from her!!!

CJANE, thanks for the birthday wishes! Hmmm, about last night, well, it gets hard when you are looking at losing 100 pounds, but if you don't stay focused, it's harder to look at losing 125, or 150 pounds. It is EASIER to make excuses than to find the willpower to not give in to temptation. We want everything NOW and we don't like waiting. I know how it feels to have so much to lose, remember, I was once 284lbs! A 10lb loss doesn't show on someone who's 284lbs, no one could even notice, but you keep on moving in the right direction, and even though you may not see those results others will. The thing is, if you don't do it now, with this WOE that doesn't restrict you and is healthy, what's the next thing you're going to try? What happened last night, what made you REALLY go hog wild? Think about this. Then, think about how you felt when you did well at lunch the other day, with not giving in to temptation-I bet you felt good then! Remember, it's only a temporary high when you eat crap and then you get pissed right afterwards for eating whatever it is. What kind of band is hubby in? Looking forward to having you on this weekend while he's away.

FILLISE, thank you for such a nice e-card and the great bday wish on the board! CONGRATS!!! What a wonderful birthday present you just gave me-to see that you lost a pound, I couldn't ask for anything better!! You most definitely made my day! I knew that scale was going to move in the right direction for you!!! WOW, look at the big difference a year makes, from a 30 to a 20! That's wonderful! Can't help you with ordering unfortunately, I never order clothes from catalogues, it's hard enough for me to find clothes on the racks! These petite pants are 4" too long on me-don't they make petite short? Sounds like you went to a very interesting and uplifting meeting and I must say, you went away with an understanding of more than the meaning of a word. Good for you for resisting indulging on the ice cream-you wouldn't of liked it afterwards anyhow, but you surely must of liked yourself a whole lot more for walking away empty handed! Have a safe trip!!!! When are you coming home??

MEL, thanks for the nice birthday wish, and the song you sang, I thought it was someone throwing a cat by it's tail out there! LOL! After last weeks big drop, your body is probably trying to play catch up a little bit. You'll be dropping soon, I'm sure. Hey, you're less than 20lbs from goal! Good going on the jury duty, sorry, I'd get out of it any way I could! Have I ever figured out how many miles I've walked, not exactly, but I average about 27 miles a week, and in the last year and a half, I'd guesstimate I've done about 1900-2000 miles. I know I've gone through 2 pairs of sneaks in just the past year and I'm about ready to break in another pair! Actually, in Prevention I read about this lady who joined their walking club when it started. She walks 7 days a week and figured in the last 15 years she's walked 20,100 miles - 25,000 miles is around the world-but the best part was, she's 77 years old! I'm sure you've logged at least that in your 25 years!!!

THUNDER, one day, you'll be able to do the jogging I've been able to do, you start out small-I couldn't do but a few feet when I started! I've definitely come a long way, but a marathon runner, I'll NEVER be!!! The miles you are logging are great-keep up the great work-I love your enthusiasm!

MUSIC, CONGRATS on being down a pound. Don't worry about posting daily, post when you can, we all know how hectic life can get at times.

ROSALIE, thank you for such a sweet e-card! Hmmm, you are now sounding like me when I have things I've baked in the house! It's hard to control eating too many. Try sticking them in the freezer, that helps me sometimes. All the carob cake I baked is gone-after the initial pigging out, I cut the rest in 2oz pieces and stuck them in the fridge, then just once a day did I have a piece-I must admit, it's even better right out of the freezer!!! Tahini doesn't go bad, it's good for a couple years, but I'll get you some recipes for other stuff. If you make hummus, you use that too, so there's another use for it. WOW, you did falafel from scratch, you're better than I am-the mix I got is too good to bother with doing it from scratch. How'd the boobie squishing go? They don't have to squish mine, they're pre-squished!! LOL!!

TV, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THAT WONDERFUL POEM!!!! That meant so much to me, you could never know! I'm printing it out and showing it to my family-THANK YOU!!!! CONGRATS on that 1/2lb loss-every little bit counts! Pinto beans for lunch, sounds good, as long as you don't get gassey, then, you may have some trouble!! If you like beans, I posted a wonderful bean salad long ago that is delicious! Good luck tonight splitting yourself between the games-you need to be cloned!! Isn't it amazing how sweet things can taste? Your tastes do change when you detox from the sugars!

BOB, thanks for that "interesting" e-card-I know a mushy one would never come from you! LOL! Actually, thought I'd get a grosser one! Hmm, pulling your arse out of bed, going to breakfast, hmmm, I may lose my appetite if I was pulling just your arse out of there! Okay, I couldn't resist! Yes, after I posted that I was running to the kitchen I too thought that would be a true sight to see-of course it wasn't to cook, well, I did make rice, but Eli was really cooking in there-unfortunately, the cooking stopped there, it didn't migrate into the bedroom! Girl, you MUST get down here soon-just for a visit, don't worry about doing major shopping!!!!

FROG, glad to see your post on the board. Thanks for the nice bday wish!! I was thinking about you yesterday! I saw something frog related that made me have that thought:) I think keeping better track will let you see how you are really doing with your food. Don't hesitate to ask me to give my input on it, you know I'll help in any way I can . This is just a plateau, and it WILL pass. I think the STORY BOARD will be seperate from the BIO BOARD, it would get too long and too much for that board-any good names you'd like to input for the new board??

JRED, thanks for the bday wish! Two pounds a week is really good, so don't worry if you get stuck and don't lose for a week, your body is probably adjusting to the past losses.

RHROO-glad to hear you had a nice day yesterday! Thanks for the b.day wishes as well. Control, in TJ's-NEVER! I wish I could spend some time with all of you at one point or another, hey, one never knows!!! Enjoy your weekend away!!!

DRAGON, thanks for the bday song! I'm sure your singing voice can't be any worse than what I've already heard today!!!

KAREN, thanks for the bday wishes! I don't feel a day over 37!!!

SOL, thanks for the nice birthday wishes. Hope you get this job! Tell Vince, sure he can come, but where does he think we're going to actually do any sleeping? I thought we'd have a gabfest! Nope, no marathon for this old bag, I'm leaving that all up to FROG!!

Want to also thank SEF, MELF and CAT for the nice e-cards you sent me!

Okay, I MUST get in the shower, would you all believe I've been working on this post since 8am, and here it is, after 11am already! UGH. Where does the time go???

I'll check in with you all tonight and I'll try to get a recipe posted on the board sometime later as well.

Once again, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for making me feel so special on this birthday!!!

Have a wonderful day!

You know what, that is a lot of what I thought. But I was on the opposite side. I could NEVER stick with WW or anything else. Tried Nutri system YUCK! I have to say to myself all the time, yea, bread tastes good, but guess what girlfriend, bread makes you FAT! I do not feel like a fat person so when I get a glimpse in the mirror I think, ACCCCCCK how did I get that way? But I just have to take one day at a time and this WOE *is* working for me. I know it will work for you too. Maybe you are setting too long term of goals for yourself? Maybe make a goal of 5 lbs. Then 10.

Just got back from playing probably theWORST tennis my life. I felt like I was sleepwalking out there and hauling around an extra 100 pounds. I keep thinking if there's less of me and more of it's muscle I should be running faster, jumping higher, leaping tall buildings, etc. But nooo....not the case. I might as well have brought an air mattress and just lay down on the court.

The scale went up another pound. I was horrified this am. I'm staying 100% OP, drinking water so much that I'm keeping scott paper in business and exercising my butt off. Whats going on here?

Rosalie- Great you got back on the bike and feel good enough to do it. I agree, go alone!

Solshine-Sounds like you're getting real close on a good job. I'm crossing my fingers for you! Not so good for me. I don't know what I'm going to do- dh did have a good first round of interviews this week at one place, and is hoping to hear something soon, too.

TV- You remind me of a Volvo ad that runs here- a dad frantically driving between son's baseball game and daughter's soccer game. Manages to see all the goals and hits so that both kids think he's only at their game. Good Luck!

Fillise- Congrats on the long anticipated pound! I wish I could say the same, but I know I haven't been staring at the same number as long as you, so I shouldn't complain. Kudo's to you for sticking with it!

BOB-Way to go at the gym! You'll turn into a gym rat yet! It gets so addictive, all those endorphins running around in your system. Course I read somewhere that about 2 pounds of chocolate produces the same amount of endorphins as 45 minutes of exercise, but I don't think even I could swallow 2 pounds in one sitting. The exercise is MUCH better!

Frog-Glad to see you back. People really bought bras at garage sales??? I don't think I'd have the nerve to put them out.

Zanne- Hope your cold's better or gone.

Deb- Your outing yesterday sounds lovely. Hope today is as nice or better. Red Roses- wow! I haven't seen those in years. Eli's a keeper. Again, have a great birthday. Your 77 year old lady story was inspiring. I hope I'm still walking at all at that point. I play tennis with an 84 year old. She doesn't run for the ball real well, but when it comes near her, boy does she ever connect. When you see people like that, 40 is just a drop in the bucket.

All you other ER fans will have to keep me informed. ICE HOCKEY season started, and my True North Proud and Free Canadian husband watches ALL 80 Flyers games of the season. Ok- I can hear the hissing from the Ontario gals- we were Leafs fans for years. I get the TV back next June after play-offs.

Hello to everyone I've missed,

Okay! How embarassed am I? Rhroo did you like the nirthday card I sent you? You didn't get it? Hmmmmmm, I wonder why? Could it be that I didn't recheck the Board and thought it was Susan's birthday? :o My heart was in the right place even if my brain wasn't!!!!! I hope you had a lovely day!!! 37 eh? Just think what you have to look forward to in three more years!

FILLISE - Did you enjoy the card? Does this mean I don't owe you one for your bithday? Did you think when you read it, "What's with that senile old lady?!?" Your meeting sounded so interesting, we need understanding of other belifs now. Glad you won your personal hijad.

SOL - never gave it a thought about protocol of using flag, As I said the problem was solved when I found the regular flag! But will be interesting to look up info.

Thanx to those who asked about my bil, he had the surgery yesterday, will be in ICU a couple of days and then transferred to another section of the hospital....sis said he's doing fine!

TV - I remember those kids sports days!! The kids want to participate even when they are dying. My ds swam with a swollen hand she jammed on the side of the pool making a turn. She still won the race!! But she was in pain, just wouldn't give ine. Others wouod do the same thing. I used to time, they didn't have electric timers then, and thought I'd fall in the pool someday leaning over the edge watching for the touches. It is all a winderful exoperience.

MUSIC TEACH - Welcome to the Board. If you read this post, I want you to know the people on this Board and smart and funny. Not like me!

Want you all to know I didn't desert the Board the last couple of days. I was just very busy! My WIW was lousy, I think the scale is broke and just sits there at that same number week after week to torment me! But I will stick to the plan!!!! I will NOT wallow in self pity!

Sorry I missed the chat but gd was hit with a lot of homeowrk and needed puter! But earlier in the day Melf, Thunder and I had our very own little chat! We LA girls have to stick together.

Happy Birthday Deb. As to being the big 4-0, just consider that it is better than the alternative!!

Now, about Vince. You all will be very happy that he will be with us. He’s a looker! Right, SolShine. :) And---very nice, also.

Sol, your parents must be a little like my DH and I. Although we are not big baseball fans. But we do have season tickets to the football games and even go to most of the out of town games. This year may be a little different. But we do have reservations for a B & B in Atlanta in case the Gators should get lucky enough to play there the second Sat. in Dec. My DH is talking about getting reservations in Pasadena. Now THAT would be sumptin’ to get to go out there to watch the Gators. That would take MAJOR luck. But I DO know how much fun it is to party before the games, no matter what the sport!

CJane--I understand completely. I still have those kind of thoughts every so often.

Well, we have company coming. They will be with us for the next 4 days. They should be arriving any time, so I will get off the board and start folding the clothes. Have a great evening, y'all.

Rosalie

Evening all

Deb - Hope you enjoyed your birthday. Why are you worried about reaching 40? When you reach my age then you will have something to worry about  I finished off the falafels to-day. I had them on a bed of lettuce and topped with taratour sauce. As a side dish I had tabouli. Would Eli approve of this combination?

BOB - The only recipe I tried was Zucchini Omelet which I posted on the August Recipe Board. I've made these quite a few times already. Sometimes I will omit the onion and the parsley and have them with fruit spread likea mini pancake. They are good either way. I wasn't in much of a cooking mood when I had the book from the library. I'll have to try it again sometime.

Frog - It's good to see you posting again but I can sympathize with the problem you are having losing. Being away on weekends certainly doesn't help the situation. I hope you can hang in there and that things will improve for you soon. You certainly deserve it.

Jred - Two pounds a week is a good amount to lose. If it stays at this rate think of how much that would be in a year. If you lose any more than 2 pounds a week on a regular basis you would be losing muscle, not fat. Also when you lose slowly it is more likely to stay off.

Rhroo - Sounds like you had a pleasant day on your birthday. Hope you have a good weekend away.

Fillisse - Have a good time at the reunion. Hope to see some pics when you return. I'm so happy for you losing that pound. I'll do the HAPPY DANCE FOR YOU. I was stuck at 200 pounds for a couple of months, then 198 for a few more so I can empathise with you.

Zanne - Hope you enjoyed your swim yesterday. Glad the scale is being kind to you.

Solshine - Hope your job search is successful soon. Sounds like you had good vibes from the interview yesterday. I will post a couple of lentil recipes. I did post a couple a while ago for the chanadal (I think it was on the January Recipe Board) but I will change them to lentils and repost them. I haven't tried the Hummus yet but that will be my next project. I was surprised that the chick peas went so well in my food chopper. Just had to add a little liquid so should be o.k. for the hummus. It's also good for chopping up the parsley for the tabouli. There's a Lentil Chili that MELF posted on the March Recipe Board which is excellent. I went out to-day and bought Sugar Busters for Kids. I didn't really want to spend the money but none were available at the library. Anyway it will be a good resource for my dd and her four kids. Looks like there are lots of good recipes in there.

Someone asked for a recipe for apple crisp. This is what I used recently and it turned out very good: 1/4cup sgww pastry flour, 1/4 cup oatmeal, 1/4 cup toasted wheat germ, 1/4 cup butter, sweetener ( I used fructose when I made this but next time I will try agave nectar), 1/2 tspn cinnamon, 1/4 tsp nutmeg. Mix together and sprinkle over apples. (I sprinkled a little lemon juice on the apples before the topping). Cook in 350F oven until apples are done and topping is browned.

I still have more posts to read but have to stop and get back in the kitchen and finish preparing supper. I am making Chicken Enchiladas with a recipe I got from the other SB board.

Will be back later.

Marie.

What do y'all think of my new avatar? There were some artists doing charactures (sp?) in downtown Greensboro yesterday. They were donating the money to the Red Cross so I thought, "Why not?" This is not the whole thing, it was too big to scan so I scanned a portion of it. Sorta avant garde! He really drew a great Kermit. And he made the Kermit sign "I love you!" Perfect for a frog loving speech-language pathologist!!! Thought maybe a change could spark more effort on my part.

Went to the gym tonight to lift weights. Will try to do a long run tomorrow, as it is supposed to be COLD and rainy here this weekend. BRRR running weather! GRRREAT chili and football weather.

Who all is planning on a trip to WDW in January? I haven't decided yet if I have the nerve to fly yet. Was having reservations about it before 9/11, don't know if I can do it now. We could drive, would just add an extra day or two to the trip, but that may be OK with me! Any thoughts from those of you out there on the flying topic?

DEB - Hope you are having a great birthday  ! Your day with M&M sounded like a lovely gesture and a great time. Your gifts sounded so sweet. What a thoughtful family you must have. Your WCP story was a trip!

BOB - I know you're watching tv tonight aren't you? Dixie says "Hey" to Skeeter!

ROSALIE - Thanks for your vote of confidence. I'm trying to keep the faith :?: , staying on plan hasn't been all that difficult.

SEF - Come on over and will wallow in pity together! Let's try to keep each other motivated.

MELIRIS - Hang in there! I'm happy to say that I've sold more than one bra at a garage sale. It always ends up in a box of "this-and-that" and someone picks out a lovely lacy and takes it home. My hubby is off to the Carolina Hurricanes home opener tomorrow night. He's got a buddy with season tickets who's Caniac. I'm scared already!

CJANE = Give it time girl! Keep positive thoughts and don't sabotage yourself! That is probably the best advice I can give you. You wouldn't sabotage a friend, so don't do it to yourself! You are an important person.

SOL - Go GIRL! :D Good luck with the job interview. I'll keep a good thought for you. BBQ huh? I love the stuff. No pork for me though, just chicken and turkey. Turkey is suprisingly good and tastes alot like pork. A Frog Fan Club? That sounds like fun. I've got to get my butt in gear if I'm gonna have a fan club! :dizzy:

FILLISE - Dress warmly this weekend! Lows in the 30's and raining here this weekend! Hope you have a great, safe trip. Interstate 85 - oh boy! If you come through Burlington give me a call.

Well I guess that does it for now. Hope that you all have a great evening. Will try to check back in tomorrow. Not going anywhere this weekend (thank Heavens) so I will be near the computer!

Peace,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEBS!!!!!! XOXOXOXOXOXO YOU ARE THE BOMB! What are you doing to celebrate this special occasion??? What's this dinner place in Napels (sp?) all about? I need details girlfriend, details!!!!

Sorry I've been M.I.A.....don't know where the time has gone. Seems like so much has been going on. Was out of town all weekend at homes. Dan the Man is applying for a teaching position in a school district 40 miles from here and we went looking at model homes, not once but twice. The weather is cooler, it's more out in the country, they actually get some rain, so what's there to think about???? Nothing new on my job front...if we stay in the desert I have another job lined up at a different Dr.s office. Someone is leaving but it's a "loose" notice they gave...still trying to get in at the school district with Lara, will be going through round 2 over there.....maybe nothing will happen if we're meant to move. It's all in Gods hands. I've turned my life over and he's in charge, not me. Saying lots of prayers that our path be lit bright so we know what's meant to be.

I've got an icky cold...I'm sure some patient gave me cooties, so I'm crawling in bed with my cup of lemon tea. I have been OP 100% the last two days, and have walked the last tow days, but I need to rest today, just plain worn out.

Miss all of you and will try not to disappear again for so long. Wasn't intentional.....oh...by the way the new addy is "NancyYoakum@hotmail.com" :)

p.s. BOB...didn't get to watch Friends...who knocked up Rachel?

Forgive me if the lingo isn't correct--I'm not very chat savvy. :)

Where is everybody getting this agave nectar? :?:
I've been using fructose (just recently found out it was from corn), and I don't wish to use a lot of the artificial sweeteners if I can help it.

I found a brew supply place that sells it (by the 1/2 gal!), and I've seen it online, but not at the health food store, or Trader Joe's. I'm in Arizona, is that the problem?

Thanks for the help.

Hi again

Solshine - I forgot to congratulate you on your 1 lb loss this week. Now you have been down to 194.5 you know it will get down there again soon. I have posted a couple of lentil recipes.

Deb - I survived the boobie squishing. It really wasn't as bad as I remembered it from the last time, which was several years ago.

Meliris - Sorry you had such a yucky game to-day. We all have days like that! Playing tennis at 84!!!!!! Hope I will be that fit when (if) I reach that age.

Sef - Glad to hear your bil is doing o.k.

Frog - I liked your old avatar better than the new one (you did ask)!!!!!!

Zanne - Hope your cold is better. You were asking about the filling for apple pie. I would suggest trying just a sprinkling of lemon juice, some cinnamon and/or nutmeg ad some agave nectar. I think about 1/4 cup should do although I haven't had too much experience with it yet. If you think it might be too juicy and you need some kind of thickener how about trying a couple of tbs. of wheat germ. (I've not tried in a pie but it should work). I've cooked a single serving of apples in the microwave using a couple of squirts of agave and that turned out good. A quick and easy dessert.

Have to get away from here and get ready to hit the sack. Work in the morning.

Bye

Marie.

Hello ladies! I haven't had time to do more than skim for birthdays, births and deaths in the past two weeks so if I missed anything major, sorry!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, RHONDA!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEBBIE!!

Hey better late than never.

Debbie
Your progress -- lowest weight, best time and RUNNING A WHOLE MILE!!!! -- is very inspiring to me. I've been trying to compose something to say to you way back during that conversation about "fat clothes" and still wearing long sleeves and long pants although you are deliciously thin now. The encouraging words don't seem to be forming but I wanted to say that I can sympathize. So maybe I'll just say this.

When I was over 215 pounds I couldn't even walk a mile without chafing. I couldn't climb a moderate hill without dying of lack of breath. I looked at my body in the mirror (NOT OFTEN) and thought of everything as a big, homogenous balloon with no details. In other words, I couldn't bear to think of my body at all. I wore long, hot polyester shirts over tight jeans because it's the only thing I could find that would fit. Or heaven forbid, MUUMUUS. (Yes, I absolutely detest muumuus and would rather die than put one on) but I got so fat that I actually got two of those shortie muumuus from the swap meet (calf length) for something like 12 dollars for both and alternated them. Disgusting.

Now. I am approximately 150 pounds but naturally, I'm not happy with my body. I have already posted about the cottage cheese belly etc. But when I get unhappy and impatient for not living up to some ideal in my head, I try to think about how things are now compared to back then -- not compared to some model who goes skiing all day and drinks champagne all night.

I never used to wear pants AT ALL. Today I wore size 10 khakis with a white shirt, tucked in, with a BELT on the second to smallest notch.

I do all kinds of athletic things when before, I barely left the house.

I don't feel like doing a complete list right now but I think you get the idea. Sure you might have some saggy skin but from the pictures I've seen, you are sexy! So expose skin and be comfortable. Oh and I'll see you at the cosmetic surgeons when we both win the lottery! ;)

Froggie
Nice to see you're still around. I might have missed it but have you adjusted your meds yet in regard to weight gain? Or is there anything you can do about it?

Karen
GREAT nutritional advice! ;)

Kim
Did I ever mention that after my thyroid surgery, I got bored and left the hospital a day early and then went shopping at Ross downtown? So I'm on the street corner with my Sis, wearing this thing that looked like a sanitary napkin on my neck, and I hear this loud screeching, "CHRIS!!!!!!" And it's my boss driving by in her Camry. Busted! ;)

SolShine
Glad to hear you are putting your time to good use while the PERFECT JOB finds you!

BOB
Whooohoooo Bob went to the gym!

WELCOME TO ALL THE NEWBIES!!!

HELLO TO EVERYBODY ELSE!!!!

:)

Okay I'm going to keep my update short and sweet. I have been to the gym ONCE since Sept 11th. Weight has been about the same I think. Not weighing gets easy after a while. But clothes are the same. I'm not going to talk about what I am GOING to do, but I have a plan for the rest of the year (I am dreading Christmas) that I'm very excited about. Will report progress when there is progress to report.

Work has been busy, exciting, stressful. I made a mistake back in May that cost a client $3000. My boss has an appointment with them tomorrow. So we are going to play it by ear, and I already feel like throwing up. I finally got my study materials for my CLU designation and like a good girl have been sticking to my study schedule for 2 days (normally I wait until the last minute) I feel right again moving ahead with my education.

Home life is just wonderful. My roommate/best friend and I have reached the point where we don't talk as much as before but automatically work in harmony with each other on things, especially food and cooking, which was rough at first.

Debbie, I think your idea of a "my story" thread is a wonderful one. I would like to hear others' stories and share my own. I am trying to remember if I tried that idea yet on my board and how it worked out. If not I am not above stealing the idea. ;) I do remember that I first saw a "my story" thread on other board on @forumz and the stories I read there (it was the general recovery board) were VERY POWERFUL.

I am very much looking foward to a thread like that.

I think I shall start checking in a bit more often .... for now. ;)

Love,

Chris

Hi Friends! So . . . anybody want to tell me where this week has gone!!! Whew it seems like I was just watching football on Sunday. Anyways, wanted to check in and report. My eating is going pretty well. I am slowly buy surely getting myself back on track. Feels good! That heavy bloated feeling is going away. Still haven't weighed because I'm just too nervous about it.

I wanted to tell you all about an interersting book I'm reading. It's called Strong Women Stay Slim. At first I thought they were talking about "inner" strength. But what they mean is physically strong. It's about how key weigh training is to getting and staying slim. Have any of you read it? The author gives six simple (or at least I thought they were simple until I did them on Wednesday night!) exercises to do three days a week. She tells you to start out small and build. Yes, for many of you who are already lifting, this will probably be too simple for you. But then in week three she says to add aerobics and do that up to 6 times a week. I haven't gotten to the part about the eating. But it will be interesting to see what she says.

So that's it for me. Went back to work this week and feel GREAT! Thanks again for all the kind words and prayers and good thoughts you sent my way while I was laid up. You all are the best. Sorry I can't respond to everyone right now. Take care.
Kim

I slept late this morning! I am usually really tired the week I start my period! I also took my meds last night a little late which is a :nono:

Have decided not to run this morning because I'm not properly hydrated for a run like that. Will spend much of today with a water bottle in my hand and hope to go this evening or first thing in the a.m. I'm a little sore from the gym last night.

I want to busy myself today planting my mums and decorating for Halloween and doing the basic cleaning. I bought some FUN Halloween stuff at Target. Maybe some of you have seen it. One is a Frankenstein head that's motion activated. When you walked by him he sings "Who can it be now?" I also have a motion activated shrunken head that says several phrases like "Did I scare you?" and "I want candy!" One of my favorites is a skeleton that's about 4 feet tall that has all these sarcastic phrases like "Can somebody get me a drink please?" and "Heeey! Nice costume, what are you supposed to be?" I really love Halloween and dressing up (remember my Marilyn Monroe appearance? :D

Beautiful day here today! Dixie Dog is on the backporch sunning her sweet self.

DEB - Are you sleeping in the day after your birthday?

BOB - Regarding "Friends," I was glad he was the dad too. I missed it last week when I was in Atlanta. Completely forgot about the Thursday night line up. I don't know if I will be able to do the BBQ outing or not. I'll have to see what we do about our travel plans. I've just begun to feel like I still want to run this thing; world events and the WTC attacks have really shaken me. I guess that means the terrorists have won (to a point) with me. But I am starting to fight back! Do you have a movie line-up this weekend? Or are you gonna be busy watching football? I love football too! My friends that joined us and aren't here anymore are as follows: 1) Blenda Wannabe is without computer right now. She is doing GREAT and is staying OP and losing. Her mother was diagnosed with Parkinson's in addition to Alzheimer's. They have also discovered a pea-sized brain tumor (in her Mom) that they don't plan on operating on at this time. I am so proud of her for tackling this diet in addition to all that she has going on in her life. 2) Grinchy and her husband gave SB about 2 weeks then quit. They call themselves "SB Flunkies" or some such. I don't think they were ready. Thanks for asking.

NANCE - What will Dan teach? I hope that things end up the way they're meant to. You're right, in my opinion, to let God be in control. I hate that there are feeling sick. Rest, relax and recoup.

TREE - Have your tried Splenda? It's an artificial sweetener made from sugar. I really like it.

ROSALIE - Thanks for your honesty about the avatar. I am going to eventually try to piece together the whole thing and post it. I think that I will keep it for a little while. I still have the Kermit on standby. :)

SPARKLE - Nice to see you. I have adjusted the meds all I can for right now. I 'm just hoping that my body will adjust. Adding weight training to try to assist in boosting my metabolism as well as for strength.

QUILTER - Glad that you are getting back to your old self and back on track. Your book sounds interesting. What are the 6 simple exercises they recommend.

Well, that's all for now folks! Will check back in again later. Have a happy Friday!

Peace,
Frog

Good Friday Morning All:wave:

Sorry I was MIA yesterday. By the time I got the kids from school, I had to hop in the shower and get ready to go out to dinner. As I suspected, we ended up at Outback. Eli invited my parents and my sister and her kids for dinner (sis's hubby was working OT). It was a nice evening. I had the usual-salmon, sweet potato and salad. Afterwards, Michael had a ton of AP EURO homework to do-when I woke up at 1am, he was still on the computer!

My Mother gave me a generous gift. I am going to get some new tires on my car, try to get my a/c fixed and pay some bills. I feel guilty wanting to use it for something frivolous, but I've decided once I see what's left over, if any, if there would be enough to cover getting one of those terrible body parts done. I haven't a clue what something like getting my arms would cost, but I guess I will start to look around and see.

I got in my walk today, but just walked. It was gloomy outside, so instead of my water bottle, I put my umbrella in it's place-came in handy as I got closer to home and it started to sprinkle.

TODAY IS FRIDAY FACTS and I found this site last week that I thought was worth sharing:

Glycemic Load, Diet, and Health

Until recently, there was little question that the best approach to healthy eating was to follow official guidelines — such as the USDA Food Guide Pyramid — which emphasize carbohydrates as a way to discourage fat consumption. But this view of carbohydrates and fats is too simplistic. It might even contribute to the very conditions that we hope to avoid by eating a good diet in the first place, such as obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.

For one, not all fats are bad. In fact, certain fats are heart-healthy. In addition, not all carbohydrates act the same. Some are quickly broken down in the intestine, causing the blood sugar level to rise rapidly. Such carbohydrates have a high glycemic index (GI).

Because rapidly rising blood sugar levels have various adverse effects, we advise eating plenty of fruits and non-starchy vegetables and few high-GI carbohydrates, such as refined grains and starches. We also favor a food pyramid where fruits and nonstarchy vegetables, not refined grains, occupy the bottom tier. The purpose of this advice is to reduce overall glycemic load (GL). GL is a relatively new way to assess the impact of carbohydrate consumption that takes GI into account but gives a fuller picture than does GI alone.

GL Reflects Actual Carbohydrate Burden

A GI value tells you only how rapidly a particular carbohydrate turns into sugar. It doesn’t tell you how much of that carbohydrate is in a serving of a particular food. You would need to know both things to understand a food’s effect on blood sugar. That is where GL comes in. The carbohydrate in a carrot, for example, has a high GI. But there isn’t a lot of it, so a carrot’s glycemic load is relatively low. Calculating GL allows researchers to better relate carbohydrate intake to its health effects.

Researchers at Harvard, including Harvard Women’s Health Watch advisory board member JoAnn E. Manson, M.D., have closely examined the relationships among carbohydrates and heart disease and diabetes in women. The Nurses’ Health Study, for example, found that women with the highest dietary GL have double the risk for heart disease when compared to those with the lowest GL.

Why It’s Not As Simple as GI

The glycemic index originated as a research tool. It assigns a numerical value to a food indicating how much and how rapidly 50 grams of its carbohydrate content will raise blood-sugar levels, compared to 50 grams of a reference food (glucose or white bread). The reference food is given an arbitrary value of 100, and the GI value of a particular food is expressed as a percentage of that value. Many things contribute to the GI of a given food, including its fat and fiber content and how much it’s been processed.

But carbohydrates differ in quantity, as well as in GI ranking, from one kind of food to another. The shortcoming of GI values is evident when you compare foods of different carbohydrate densities. For example, the GI of a baked potato is 121% (assuming white bread is the standard reference food). This has earned the potato, which is largely carbohydrate, a place on the “avoid” list in publications and on Web sites promoting the GI approach to food choices.

The GI of carrots, as noted earlier, is also high: 131%. But this unfavorable GI rating is based on the blood-sugar effect of eating 50 grams of carbohydrate from carrots — the amount contained in a pound and a half of them — which few people would consume in one sitting. A serving of carrots, therefore, just doesn’t have much carbohydrate, so its impact on blood sugar is much less than that of a serving of potato.

Avoiding carrots because of their GI ranking would be a big mistake, particularly given all the vitamins and minerals they contain and the low GL of each serving (see “How to Calculate GL,” below). The GI of potatoes, on the other hand, is not a misleading measure because potatoes are carbohydrate-dense. Their GL is also fairly high.

How to Calculate GL

GL is the amount of carbohydrate in a serving of food multiplied by that food’s GI. Thus, a 12 cup serving of carrots (which has 8 grams of carbohydrate) has a glycemic load of about 10 (8 * 131%, or 1.31 = 10.48).

As reported recently in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition (March 2001), Nurses’ Health Study researchers — aided by blood samples and a food-frequency questionnaire — used GL measures to assess the impact of carbohydrate consumption on 280 postmenopausal women. They found that high-GL diets (and, by extension, high GI foods and greater total carbohydrate intake), correlated with lower HDL concentrations and higher triglyceride levels, a marker for heart disease. The strongest association was in overweight women, i.e., those whose body mass index (BMI) was over 25. Increased risk started, on average, at a daily GL of 161.

Calculating overall dietary GL is difficult outside a research setting. But knowing a food’s GL can help you make comparisons that can improve the quality of your carbohydrate choices. In general, it’s a good idea to replace processed and refined-grain carbohydrates, such as those found in many snacks and desserts, with fruits and non-starchy vegetables. These foods, as well as whole grains and beans, are rich in nutrients and contain fiber, which slows digestion and moderates blood sugar levels. Also, try substituting, for example, whole grain bread for white bread; wild rice for white rice; and beans or lentils for potatoes.

Dietary GL may not become an everyday calculation, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see labels that exclaim “Low Glycemic Load!” — like “Low Cholesterol!” — beckoning from grocery shelves in the near future.

The Glycemic Index for 100 Foods

The glycemic index (GI) number is a relative not an absolute number. In effect, it is the blood sugar response to ingestion of a given food compared with the blood sugar response to another standardized food. Researchers have used both glucose and bread as this standardized, or reference, food.

Sometimes test results have yielded a range of values, which we show with a plus or minus sign, ±. So, for example, the GI value for a croissant using bread as the reference number is 96± 6 means test results ranged from 90 to 102.

One way to think about the glycemic index number is to picture it as fraction. The blood sugar blood response to a food is the numerator. The blood sugar response of the reference food is the denominator. Therefore, index number for same food will vary depending on whether you put glucose or bread in the denominator.

Because glucose quickly becomes blood sugar, the GI numbers based on glucose result in a lower number than do the GI numbers that use bread. Again, if you envision the GI number for a food as a fraction, or ratio, the glucose-based index has a larger denominator: you’re dividing by a bigger number. But the numerator doesn’t change, so the GI number gets smaller.

A word of warning about applying the GI to your diet. It is a carbohydrate-to-carbohydrate comparison. It doesn’t say anything about how much carbohydrate a food contains. So, for example, while the carbohydrates contained in carrots may have a relative high GI index, carrots contain relatively few carbohydrates compared with corn chips. Therefore, the net effect of carrots on blood sugar levels is considerably less than corn chips, even though their GI index numbers are similar.

BUSDEB, thanks for the bday wishes:) Glad to hear your did well with the water and walking, hope today is the same. I see a big difference when I don't drink enough water, and as much as I don't like water, I try to get it down just because I know I need to to help me along in this WOE.

MEL, so you didn't have a good tennis game-at least you got out there and got some exercise-that's really what matters! Not every day can be a good one, just like me today, I went out and did my walk, no jogging at all, and it took me over 1hr 6 minutes-but at least I got out there;) Playing with an 84yr old-I just hope to be alive at that age! Just think about her when you have an off day, think about her not being able to see the ball so well, yet, she gets out there!! You comment about the scale going up, you being OP, etc., etc. could of been written by me numerous times in the past. Actually, if you did a search, you could probably find me posting that quite a bit in past posts-it happens, and just as mysterious as it happens, mysteriously the scale will drop-as I always say-PATIENCE!!!!

SEF, you are too funny! Thanks again for the bday wishes. Now, I may not have much control over turning 40, but damn it if I'm going to grow gray gracefully! As long as there's hair dye, I ain't going there!!!! How's your BIL doing today? Don't worry about the scale Shirley, it WILL move downward soon.

GATOR, thanks for the bday wishes.

ROSALIE, yes, Eli would approve your falafel now:) I probably will make one again this morning. Just give me a little time to get some recipes to use the tahini in, geez, I haven't even fixed the recipe boards you pointed out to me yet-seems I think about it and then things slip my mind just as quick-guess it's the age thing! Marie, you have to post one of your picks on the PHOTO BOARD! I keep meaning to remind you to do that. How are your aches from the bike fiasco? I think I will try your CRISP RECIPE. I have a can of SF cherries and another of SF Apple, like pie filling, and it sounds like it would go well with that! I may make the buckle recipe today, instead though, will use rapsberries instead of blueberries, as I have some I have to use.

FROG, I wanted to tell you in this months REDBOOK MAGAZINE (the one with Kelly Rippa on the front cover), there is an article about VULVADYNIA in there I wanted to tell you, just so you could read it, if you didn't see it already. I can say, at this time, I do plan on coming up to WDW area to see you if you make it down. Just need enough planning time, that's all. Personally, I would say to drive down-I just like having my car at my disposal, and really, it's not that far. My Grandparents drove from Hendersonville all the way home to Miami in 1 day-and they're in their 80's! It's not anywhere as far from where you are. So take a couple extra days off-you surely must deserve it! Sounds like you'll have a festive house for Halloween!

BOB, I can ONLY IMAGINE what card you must of had in mind for me! Really didn't recieve much else. Lauren bought me a frame. People tell me I'm very hard to buy a present for, since I never ask for anything. Actually, I don't think I'm hard to buy for at all, if people would only take notice of what I look at or mention, they'd find it quite easy-which is what I do with others-but really, I guess when you are the "MoM" you don't expect much more than a clean bedroom and no aggrivation for a day or two-which unfortunately, I didn't get once again this year!

NANCE! Finally, you're back on the board-was almost ready to call you on the phone! Sorry to hear you're feeling icky! {{{HUGS}}} Two days being OP AND walking? You make me proud! Okay girl, I got the pictures back!!!! I'll be posting some later on sometime, so be on the look out-there are som great ones in there!!! There's a great restaurant in Marco called the VOYAGER, it's a little less than 2 hours from home, on the West Coast of Fl. We go there for special occasions. Both QUILTER & BOB have gone there as well, when we all got to meet-they can vouch for it being good!

TREE, WELCOME TO THE BOARD! Glad you have joined us-your lingo is just fine:) I have seen brew places advertise the agave syrup, but I honestly don't know what the difference is between what they sell and what we find bottled. I will do my best to get an answer for you though:) I'm sure someone must carry it is Arizona though. What larger HFS (health food stores) do you have in your area? Lucky you-Trader Joes-anyone on this board can tell you how much I love that store!! Alas, we don't have any down here in Fl. Please, don't hesitate to ask any other questions you may have, we're always willing to try and help. Again, welcome!

SPARKLE, thanks for the bday wishes-at least I didn't fall under the death watch! Deliciously thin, lol, I think NOT. But it's a nice thought. You've come a long way baby! From MuMu's (I wore those too) to wearing shirts tucked in and belts with pants-that's a major and worthwhile accomplishment you should be proud of. Not even at this weight would I wear tucked in shirts! Your head is definitely on straighter than mine. Thanks for your input on the story board!

QUILTER, glad to see you are feeling better. Haven't heard of that book, you'll have to give us your review when you're done.

Okay gals, I've got to run-time for CROSSING OVER, than I have a few errands to run. I'll check in sometime later.

Have a wonderful weekend!

OK, I have exiting news!!! My oldest son, Justin, who has not even swung the bat in a game since early September, absolutely POUNDED THE BALL LAST NIGHT!!!!:spin: I couldn't believe it, it was the best hit he has ever had! Went in the air, all the way to the grass in center field!!! 2 runners made it home, even though he only got a single!!! With all of the family having offered him cash incentives, he ended up with $60 bucks for that hit!! I asked him if it was the cash or the new glasses he got on Wednesday that did it for him and last night, he didn't know, but this morning he said he thought it was the glasses. Did I tell you guys that I had his eyes re-checked on Wednesday and the new prescription had 2 numbers on it doubled or more??? I feel so guilty that I didn't take him before this week! I told him that I would never put anything like that off again!! Anyway, he batted again and fouled 3 off and then swung again at a bad pitch and missed. I asked him why he swung at such a junky pitch and he said "I just wanted to hit it again!" so I knew then that the slump was officially over!! :D We ended up winning the game by 1 run! Both Justin, DH (aka: coach) and myself are still on cloud nine this morning!!!

Little DS lost their game last night, but he got 2 good hits:smug:! They play again Sat at 10am, and if they win, they play again at 11:30 and then Justin plays at 1:30 - We're gonna be at the ballfield ALL DAY LONG :dizzy: Oh well, by this time next week it will all be over, even if we were to make it to final rounds of the tournament. Maybe then life can get back to normal, although I can't pretend not to love watching all the kids play. I will not, however, miss the rushing around. It took me 50 minutes yesterday to get from work to the ballfield - YUCK

Deb - glad you liked the poem. My grandmother used to write poems for relatives and friends on b-days when I was little (she died when I was 13). She lived next door so I was with her constantly and I always loved to help her write one. I have a copy of all the ones she sent one year to her 8 brothers and sisters - some of them are sooo funny (and not always very nice :s: ). She was a great influence on me and this is one way I can carry on part of her spirit.

BOB - I missed ER, Justin wanted to go eat Mexican after the game, so we had a celebration supper late. What did I miss???

Tree - WELCOME

Quilter - glad you are feeling better and doing well back at work!

Nance - Yes, the best thing for an icky cold - REST - make sure you get some!

Sef - Yes, its amazing what we do for these kids. I almost lost my voice from the screams I let out when he hit the ball!! It makes me feel so good to see him do well and get past his struggles. That smile is worth much more than $60!!!!!;)

Mel - don't worry about that lb. It will disappear before you know it!!! I should have been doing an ad for a camcorder last night, the way I was going between the fields and trying to get their highlights recorded. Naturally, I didn't get Justin's hit (honestly I just wasn't expecting it). I'll be ready next time!!

Fillise - As Tony the tiger says "GGGRRRREEEEAAAATTTT!!!!!!" Finally, the scale moved for you, I'm doing a happy dance in your honor!!!

Sol - sounds good on the interview - I'll keep my fingers crossed for you :) .

Gotta go for now - See you gals later!

Not much time to post as I'm sitting by the phone like a desparate teenager waiting for that oh so important phone call! Got up with Meister this morning and we walked 2 miles - a bit slower than we did on Tuesday. Then I went to the gym and totally had a bad work out. I couldn't even lift the same weights the same repititions as last time I was there. I'll just walk tomorrow, take Sunday off and see if that helps.

BOB I missed Friends last night. I caught the last 3 minutes of it (WWF and the male control of the remote won the battle). We taped CSI and The Agency so we'll see. How was the 2nd try at The Agency?

DEBBIE - Thanks so much for posting those pics!! What a great group of women!! Y'all glow! As for the "slumber party".....Vince said he's already planning to make sure he's off work when everyone will be here so missing sleep won't be an issue for him. He gets up at 3:30am on his work days and no one wants a grumpy policeman on patrol. :nono: So I do my best to keep him happy for all the commuters. :D

FROG I can't find the dates for your marathon. Could you please re-post them? Vince really is going to ask for the time off. As for flying.....really, I think it's probably safer now than it ever has been with all the security measures they've got in place. Of course the media is going to do everything they can to expose the tiniest of errors that are made by the airlines - it's "news" to them, but really, I think, trying to make themselves seem more important and "scare" up more viewers. And, besides, today they reported that Orlando International is one of the SAFEST airports in the nation and has always done a stellar job of passing all the "official" undercover security tests done over the YEARS. And they are even tighter now.

Okay, going to try my hand at making some tabbouleh. Hopefully I'll have good news to post this afternoon......

My o My! Where does the time go? Too fast that's for sure.

FROG - For heaven's sake fly! Life is too short to spend being afraid of the unknown. If your time has come, that's it! You could be standing at the sink peeling potatoes (if they're white I hope it's for others)! So go, enjoy! I would! My dd just flew to HI and will be flying back next week, I know she's a swimmer but not that good!!

Now I know misery loves company, but in this case mighten our misery feed on each other. We will ignore the obvious and seek to bolster each other up!!

SCAMP - Nice to see you on Board again. My dd is in Kona for the Ironman (she volunteers as a RN), do you watch that. About 5 years ago I was there visiting my dd and we went to a mini Ironman, I think it was half the length of the present one. It was very interesting, we drove to the different venues to see the change overs, then went to the get together afterwards.

I was there bec dd had surgery and at that point she was still recuperating so couldn't volunteer as she usually did. But she wanted to see heer friends so we went.

DEB - Maybe you could save some money on surgery if you practiced the Queen's wave. Have you ever noticed how Queens wave? They never extend there arms. They keep the elbow down and close to boday, just move arm from elbow to wrist. They know that some day they are going to have dingle-dangle and don't want to knock themselves about when they wave!

So that's it for today!

Take care all! sef

Hello ladies. Sorry I have been MIA this week. Had a lot of stuff going on.

I did WIW but hadn't lost anything, so didn't want to post. It TOM though, so hopefully next week will be better.

I've also been bad this week because I had a death in my family so I've been eating comfort food. Hopefully after TOM and starting new BCP's I can get back in the swing of things and post some losses.

I hope that you all have a great weekend. I will check back later.

I hid the scale this morning (really!) and didn't weigh for the first time in 2 1/2 months. I'm going to try the once a week method cause I think the d(*&^%$m thing is making me manic-depressive.

Got in a very unspectacular walk w/ short run this morning, but nothing else today. I think I need a break, so took they day off from weights. Fell asleep on the couch in the middle of the afternoon instead. I think i've only done that maybe twice in my life before!
I noticed I've turned into a 'member' rather than a 'junior member'. I'm trying to come up with a new avatar to celebrate my new status. What do you all think of "running dog"?

TV- Great games! Must have made you so proud when he smacked that ball. I'd be afraid to offer cash incentives- my kids are so money motivated that I'm afraid that even my totally non-athletic son, who spends most of his time on the soccer field yakking to the referee, would actually start paying attention to the soccer ball and bankrupt us.

Frog- Are you actually running a MARATHON?? I guess all this happened before I joined the board! I used to run mini-marathons a looong time ago....would love to try again, this time would be happy just to finish alive with 2 functioning knees, and wouldn't care about the clock.

Kim- Glad you are feeling so much better! and that all the test came back OK.

Solshine- Did that phone ring yet? I like the analogy about the anxious teenager...very apt.

Jmuir- Sorry to hear about death in family. There's a reason comfort foods are called that. Whatever it takes to get through, do it.

I found those dinosaur egg plums that Deb talked about a couple of weeks ago. They sure look weird on the outside, but YUM on the inside. The color was so beautiful, kind of an azaelea deep pink fading to light blush that I wished I could paint. However, I can eat.

Well, I think I'll go fall asleep again. Must be getting sick. Shoot! Dh took ds to soccer practice, then McDonalds(yuck-don't miss that) then cub scouts. 3 hours alone!!

Evening!

Waiting for Eli to come home and thought I'd get in a post. I'm pooped, and would you believe, I just woke up from a nap! Guess TOM contributes to feeling blah today. As I thought, it showed up yesterday, lovely birthday present!

I've got more pics to post, just give me a little time-I haven't gotten them all loaded up on line yet:)

TV, your story of your son's eyes relates to my son Michael. Two years ago, he kept telling me that he couldn't see the board at school, I honestly didn't think he was serious, and would just let it go. After much complaining, I finally said, "fine, I'll take you for an eye exam!" Low and behold, his eyes were terrible! I can't see out of his prescription. I felt awful afterwards! Congrats to your son on getting that hit in, and earning $60. You may go broke soon!!! Keep writing that great poetry, I like poetry, esp. the Blue Mountain poetry of long ago, with Susan Polis Shultz (I think tha's her name). Michael loves to write as well, one day I'll have to send you a piece of his work.

SOL, of course, I know it's WHEN we all meet, not if, and for sure, the men MUST be present. I mean, we have to have VINCE'S good looks (I take your word) and ELI'S cooking skills, as well as to be there to keep BOB in line-hmmm, on second thought, those two together could be BIG trouble! We'll have to just think about that one! LOL!! Usually, when we hit Orlando, we stay off International Drive, like last time. I'm going to leave finding out if Italiani's is still open up there when the time comes-I really would like to go there-the only other one around was down here and they closed long ago. I MAY even splurge and have a small piece of tiramisu if they are!!!

SEF, hmmm, I've never even seen the Queen's arm exposed, how do you know she didn't have bat wings long ago and that's WHY they have to wave that way??? Looked into the surgery on the web...hoping MAYBE there's a newer type of procedure than the one I keep reading about-I don't need a scar from armpit to elbow!

JMUIR, sorry to hear about the death in your family. Our thoughts are with your family. I hope things turn around for you soon, as I'm sure they will:)

MEL, hiding the scale, you're a better person than I-at least until after the first of the year, then I plan on doing the same as well. I'm sure you'll come up with a great avatar that ties in with your great personality;) Glad you liked those Dinosaur Eggs-think I'll go have one!

Well, even after this nap, I'm still pooped and ready to hit the hay. Can't though, *****ed at Eli for not coming home at a decent time, so he said he would leave and come home, so I guess after all that, I better stay up to say hello:rolleyes:

I'll check with you all sometime tommorow-I hope you all have a great weekend!

Looks like another "BLAH" day out there.

Gotta make this a real quick one. Lots to do today.

THANKS to all for your well wishes. I feel much better. Head is unstuffed; I'm just sniffling a bit now.

Rosalie Thanks for the help with the apple pie filling. I'm gonna try to make a couple of pies today. I'll let you know how they turn out.

Tree Welcome to the board.

jmuir I'm sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you.

All you losers Way to go!!

EVERYONE ELSE I've read thru all your posts and I'm thinking of you all.

We've been having rain here and found out our basement leaks! We've been sucking up the water with the carpet cleaner and shop vac. Hopefully the rain will stop sometime in the near future so DH can try to patch up the house and eavestrough. So that's been our adventure for the past day or so.

This will be a challenging weekend. It's Thanksgiving! The menus at the parents' places sound like they'll be ok. I'm going to bring "legal" apple pies. (if they turn out:?: ) Just have to NOT overdo it with the food.

Well, my coffee's done and it's time to get my backside moving.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYBODY!!!!

Ah me! :( If it's not one thing it's another!

The last couple of days my sciatica has been acting up! Because when I move I favor it, it causes my back to act up! Then to top it off the last couple of days "arthur" has been complaining and today he was right because it's raining!!

Wednesday, because of insurance, I am going to a new doctor. I know how you can forget things when talking to a doctor, so I've set down everything on paper. He can put it in my chart.

Then it dawned on me, I live with family. I doubt very much that they know what meds I am on, my medical history, and other than arthritis my current complaints. If there was an emergency and they had to speak for me they wouldn't be able to give a concise explanation.

So I am giving them a copy of the report I made for the doctor. Basically, the only things that might change now is meds, and that's easy to fix.

I know I'm the old lady here, but there are a couple of younger "seniors". Even if you don't live with your children, do they know what's what if you had an emergency? I think they should and that's my hint for the day. I know, I know, booooooooooooooring!

Well, now that I've had my coffee with you all, think I will go get some breakfast. Can't sit here too long anyway.

My little bluebird of happiness is flying with a broken wing today!!

Take care, sef

Hey, all you gals! I'm sorry I have not been on this week, but it has been a hectic work week & also had major problems with my computer. I was getting ready to post Thursday when everything went haywire! Still not sure what happened, but it took me till late Thursday night before it was back to normal & by then I just wasn't up to it.

Did get back into my walking routine this week. Did a total of 8 miles this week. Hey Debbie, it looks like you have plenty company on the exercise board now hehehe

As far as my weight, I am afraid that I didn't stay at my lowest weight of 140 for more than a few days. It is coming back down, I'm at 141.5 this morning. I am sticking to this & know that it will get back down sooner or later.

Haven't read all the board, but am starting at page 3 & will try to catch up to what's going on with all of you.

RHOO, Glad you had a good BD! Enjoy your week end. You deserve it.

Zanne Good to hear that you're beginning to feel better.Yikes! A leak in the basement doesn't sound too good. Hope the rain stops soon to allow the repairs needed. The swimming sounds like fun. I wish I knew how to swim. Also would help if we had a public pool, but we don't. We are limited to things like that in small towns like where I live.

FILLISE, Congrats on the 1 pound!! that's so exciting after your plateau!! I'm excited for you. I'm sure the is more to come. Enjoy your reunion!

Cjane Sometimes it hard to not just give in to the desire to eat, eat, eat, but you are heading in the right direction in that even though you gave into it the other night, you know that you need to leave that behind & get back to what works to lose this weight. Even though you were weak & gave in that time doesn't mean that you have lost the battle. Try to stay focused on the plan & do whatever you need to do to stay on it. If you need to count calories or points, then do it if it works for you. Hang in there & you'll make it.

Solshine, WooHoo girl, that scale is coming on down!! That's great. How's the job hunting going? That sounds like a great interview you had this week. Hope & pray that it will be a positive outcome for you.

Gatorgal A nurse friend of mine that I worked with yesterday is an avid LSU fan & is going to the game today. Have been thinking about you knowing that you usually attend that game. Sorry that you are going to miss it today. I'm not a sports minded person, but I love the passion that I hear you & Missey as well as my friend here have as you talk about the games. And of course, BOB!!

Debbie Congrats on the new low weight on your special day!!! Sounds like you had a wonderful BD. I have looked for the Tahini & have not been able to find any. Where should I be able to find it? Maybe the HFS? I didn't look there yet. Gee, I don't know why you feel short compared to Nance & Lara? ;) Thanks for posting those great pics!

lizery I read your post to CJane & really love your attitude about losing. You are really doing well! Also saw your reply to my exercise post that you have a friend in Abbeville? What a small world, huh? Actually, I live 11 miles from there. Only my address is Abbeville. I actually live in a rural area just 3 miles outside of a small town called Kaplan. Why my address is Abbeville, I will NEVER UNDERSTAND! I have fought with the post office over this, but it didn't help a bit. Anyway, about your friend...name does not sound familiar, but will keep it in mine incase I run across her.

Meliris I  at your description of your tennis match. You have a great sense of humor.Hang in there girl, it will get easier for you. Hey, I like your running dog! Congrats on becoming a "memeber". About the scale... I find that it keeps me accountable. I weight everyday! If I'm not staying the same or lossing, then I know that I probably didn't do my best the day before & I try harder. If it is going up, then I truely have blown it & I know that I have to turn the pattern around before it gets out of hand. My scale is important to me & we are daily buds. That's what works for me. Think abou it.

SEF, Were you having a senior moment when you sent Rhoo that BD card? LOL Girl, that sounds like something I would have done...LOL One year not too long ago, I called to wish a friend of mine Happy Birthday a month early. I think it was the same year that I called my Nannie to wish her the same a month late! LOL On a more serious note, good to hear that your bil is doing ok after his surgery. My bil went home! I am still amazed! God has really worked in that situation. One thing does concern me though. They had talked about sending him to cardiac rehab which is the thing to do after this type of surgery, but they decided against it. I can't help but think it's because the dr didn't feel like he could tolerate it with his decreased heart function. Only has 25% ejection fraction. Instead, he sent him home on 5 new meds & encouraged him to try to walk at least 4 times aday. Can only walk for short distances. But hey, who knows??? He made it through all this, he might improve enough to make it a few more years.

Girl, I sure did enjoy the chat with you & Thunder the other day! That was great. Sorry to hear that "Arthur" is visiting again. Must be this beautiful LA weather that is getting you down. Feel better girl! Good idea about giving your family a copy of that health report! So often I have to get info from family members to do my nursing admit summary & sometimes they just don't know. It is invaluable info for you to share with them.

FROG, It's a wonder that you are not losing with all that running you do. But hey, hang in there. It will come. Love your new avatar! Can understand your hesitance about the flying. I'm not real sure if I would or not. I'd like to think that I would cause I love to fly. I'm with the mind set that there is too much media hype about everything that has happened & it is making people afraid to live their normal lives. I believe if it is my time to go, it doesn't matter where I am & what I'm doing, it will happen. But I can't just put everthing on hold with a fear that it could happen. I live each day to the best of my ability & thank God for each & every day.

ROSALIE, Didn't read the post in question, but I understand you had a fall while bike riding? Is that correct? Loved the gif you posted on the exercise board.. I see you talking about the chanadal. I came across the recipe you had sent me a few months ago, but have not found the chanadal to try it. Can I use lentils in it's place?

j red, Hey girl, a 2 lb loss it great! Loved your pic you posted. So are you a natural red head too??? So am I!!!

Nance, Loved the pics that Deb posted of all of you! So sorry to hear you're feeling under the weather with this cold. Sure hope you feel better soon. I can understand why you think you may have picked it up from a patient. That definitely is a draw back about working with sick people, but I find that I am more apt to catch something from the other nurses before I get it from a patient when it comes to cold/flu. Just an observation through the years.

SPARKLESCAMP, Great to see you posting again & to hear that you're still hanging in there. Why did you quit going to the gym? Just wondering.

QUILTER/Kim, Good to hear that you are getting back to normal. The book you described does sound interesting. I wish I could be more disciplined about exerciseing. I seem to do good when I'm off, but on work days I just am not up to it.

TVthatsME Sounds like a great baseball game for your son & his team! You really sound like a proud mom :)

jmuir Sorry to hear about your loss. Hang in there, you'll soon be back OP. Don't let this comfort food get to you for too long.

Bob Glad to see that you are becoming a regular at the gym! You go girl!!! I  when I read about you going out to eat at the ME place & of course, what else would you have except CHICKEN! I thought about you yesterday when I looked at a sale paper & found that the leg quarters were on sale for 15 cents/pound. LOL

AMSERAPHIM, Hope things are better for your GM. Keeping both of you in prayer. Enjoyed the chat a few days ago.

Thunder, Sure have enjoyed chatting with you & getting to know you better this past week. Hope that weather didn't effect you too bad last night. It didn't get here till about 3am. I was planning to go walking this am, but it's still too windy so I decided to catch up on the board instead.

Well Gals, hope all of you have a good week end. I'm off this week end, so I guess now that I've caught up here, I need to get to work on house cleaning...Yuck! Hoping that dh will take me out to eat tonight. It has been a while since that has happened. I hope I didn't miss anyone. If I did, it was not intentional. Haven't seen BUTTERFLY, VIV, IDBLOND, Karen, LAMAP, or Bee post lately. Hi Girls, Hope all is ok with you. Maybe I just missed your posts since I started with Thursday posts. See ya!!

Happy Saturday everyone! I've been trying to catch up on all the posts. I know there's no way to reply to everyone, so a blanket hello and keep up the good work to all.

We celebrated Sarah's (my oldest) birthday today. We entertained 12 7 and 8 year olds at the park. It's a beautiful day here, a little windy. but the rained stopped so it wasn't too bad. Both grannys came so the kids were happy:D I wasn't toooo bad. Only a bite of bday cake. After the party, my mom took us to eat, but I kept it legal for lunch.;)

To really make my day great I got into some jeans that I couldn't breath in a couple of weeks ago

:D and I was quite comfy.

Hope everybody has a great weekend.

BOB--Boy, that was a shocking ending. What excitement. Hopefully, we'll take care of those bad ole dawgs for you when we meet them in Jacksonville in a couple of weeks.

Evening All:wave:

Kids aren't here, so have a few minutes to post. My day was very uneventful, garage sales sucked-been the trend lately around here.

BOB, I'm loving you're loving the gym! That's great!!! I wish you were closer, I'd go with you;) Yummy, chicken kabob at the ME place? Is that right in Sarasota? Baked feta, was called SHANKLISH? Now THAT sounds delicious!

ZANNE, HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Hope you are feeling better. Let us know how you faired with your Thanksgiving feast!

SEF, you are very smart to write down your medical info. I wouldn't have a clue if or what my parents would be taking. My Mom always trys to tell me about business affairs, but never health affairs, which I believe are far more important! Sooo, what are your plans for the up-coming BIG birthday this week? Do me a favor, don't invite Arthur to your party!!!!;)

MELF, glad to see you back posting:) I'm loving the company on the EXERCISE BOARD! Keep me company like this more often! With us both being at goal, we just should try to stay within that 5lb cushion once you get there-there's no way anyone can stay in that one place they want, unfortunately. Tahini, if you don't have a Middle Eastern grocery store, then a HFS should definitely have it, though it probably would cost more, just because it's in the HFS. Do you have a ME grocer in your area?

MUSIC, glad to hear everyone had a good time for your daughters bday and you survived the gang of 7 & 8 yr olds. Congrats on the pants!!!

Well, that's it for me, for now at least. Eli and I are suppose to go to Marco for dinner tomorrow. Don't know if we will go all day or not, the kids are going to be home tomorrow, unexpectedly (their Dad has to work), and I really don't like leaving them all day, but with their rooms being pig stys, I guess I'll leave them and make them clean them up:s:

Oh, I heard from FLY, she's been having computer problems, but vows to be back soon! She's been staying OP and is doing well. AMSER, I've heard from as well, she's been having a tough time with her GM. Hope she will be back soon as well. I too wonder where LAMAP, VIV & BEE have been-are you guys lurking??

Have a great weekend! I'll check in with you tomorrow, sometime!

One Thanksgiving dinner under the belt! Literally!

I actually did not too badly. One small spoon of potatoes, 2 spoons of stuffing (MIL put little pieces of bacon in it and boy was it tastey!) and a sliver of apple pie. (I forgot my home made one!) Otherwise, everything else was legal. Lots of salad and broccoli!:)

Well, my apple creations turned out ok. I decided to make individual pies instead of one big one. The crust was ok (I'm not a baker, so it'll take a little practice to perfect). For the filling, I took Marie's advice. I chopped up apples, sprinkled with a little lemon juice, some apple pie spice, and some agave nectar. I added little by little till I got the right taste. I made a crumb topping by mixing some agave nectar with some softened butter and then added whole wheat flour till I got a crumb mixture. I think the crumb topping was a little too much (kind of made it dry) so I don't think I'll put any top on. But overall, for a first try, I don't think the wee pies were that bad.

On a really good note, I actually was able to wear a pair of pants that I could only zip up last week. I had them on for about 6 hours but a couple of hours after dinner, I had to change. But it IS progress!!!:D

Rosalie How's your Thanksgiving weekend so far Marie?

Nearly time to hit the hay.

Take care Everyone!

Hi everyone

Just a quickie before I hit the sack. Have to get up for work again in the morning.

Zanne - As you can see this is a working weekend for me. But I have got a turkey dinner planned for tomorrow with my family. I've been busy this evening making coleslaw, preparing veggies and making trifle. I've been on the go since I got home from work. I'm trusting my ds to put the turkey in the oven for me so it should be almost ready when I get home from work. My dd and 4 gs should be here before I get home and will finish getting things ready for me. Glad your pies turned out o.k. I've only once made a pie with the sgww flour. I didn't like the pastry so just don't make pies any more, but I frequently make apple crisp. The last time I made it I tried a new recipe and it turned out very good but I used fructose for the sweetener. Next time I will try it with the agave nectar and if it turns out o.k. will post the recipe on the board. My daughter really liked it, between us we wolfed down more than half of it, kept going back for more. But it was all legal

Melf - Yes I did have a spill on my bike. Last wekend when I was out with my ds and gc's the dear little five year old decided he had to be in front so he cut me off and our wheels merged and there was I on the ground. Anyway I survived the ordeal. Still have a sore hand but it is getting better. Those recipes for the chana dal can be made with any kind of lentils. I've reposted them on the current recipe board substituting lentils for the chana.

Sef - That was a good hint, making a note of medical history for the family. We just never know when it might be needed. Sorry to hear you are being troubled with sciatica and "arthur" again. Hope things improve for you soon.

Well I've really gotta go and hit the sack if I am to get up on time in the morning.

Will catch up with everyone else later.

Marie.

Hey Y'all! Hope everyone's having a great weekend. The weather has been wonderful today in North Texas. We had about an inch of rain Friday noon and then the temp dropped a whole bunch. Today is was sunny and cool. I love the fall!! Those sooners boomed up on the 'horns today, but not as bad as last year.

Melf: Yep, the red is natural, although I have had to inhance it the past couple of years. The red was turning brown, and was really becoming dull. I want it back to the shiny red of my youth, so I get help. How far are you from Erath? A college boyfriend grew up there and probably still lives there.

Music: Can't remember if I replied to you. It's good to have someone close by and in the same business, to boot. It was a wonderful day for a party outdoors. That's definitely the best place for 12 little girls!

Deb: We've got to start working on your inside, now that you've worked on the outside. Be proud of your new body. You worked very hard to get it. You can love the new you. You've got it - SHOW IT OFF!!
Thanks for the article on glycemic load. It's very interesting reading. And it does make sense.

Sef: The idea of giving your family your medical history is great. I know my parents' health issues, but not what medications they are on.

BOB: So sorry about the game. Was watching it and couldn't believe the ending. My Navy guys didn't do so well, either. Had a touchdown called back for clipping and lost by 6 points. That hurt, since they were playing Air Force. The mids play their hearts out, but can't really compete with regular colleges because of the fitness requirements. You can't weigh as much as linebackers are today and pass the physical readiness test (two minutes each of sit ups and push ups, then run a mile and a half in 10:30 min)

Nance: Good luck on the job search. Sorry work is not fun and you got sick.

Kim: Glad to hear the recovery is moving along.

Fil: Hope you had a great time this weekend. Let us know everything.

Lizery: What a great attitude. Loved your pic. Your daughter is beautiful.

Gator: Looking forward to getting to know you.

Sol: Did the phone ring, yet?

Thunder: Keep up the great work!

Scamp: Glad you posted again. May be coming your way next summer. Will let you know when we finalize our vacation plans.

Zanne and Rosalie: Happy Thanksgiving!

Jmuir: Sorry about your loss. Keep thinking positively about yourself and you'll get back OP in no time.

TV: Congrats on your son's hit. I remember watching my son playing ball. It's nerve wracking and exciting all at once. I remember one time watching from the bleachers behind first base and looking over to see my youngest, a toddler at the time, headed for the parking lot. She was almost to the third base dugout and I never ran so fast in all my life. She's 13 at the end of this month and I'm still chasing her down!:D
Tonight she had her first dance and she told me she danced with 4 different guys and had her picture made with 2 of them. And my older dd is still at her homecoming dance. No date, but she planned to have a dance at least every slow dance!

hey to everybody else. Sorry I don't have more time to respond to each of you.

Take care,
Jeanie

Everybody- Thank you for the warm welcome!

Quilter- I've heard the book is supposed to be good, though I haven't read it yet. I I'm still working up to exercising regularly (for me that's 3x/week :p ) on the treadmill.

Frog-I've tried the splenda in Torani Irish Cream SF syrup in a skinnny latte w/ cinnamon. There seems to be a coating in the mouth afterwards, but it's acceptable. I can't seem to give up the coffee habit! Does it work in baking and cooking?

Meliris- As a dog lover, I love your attached image (blond girl walking w/ dog). I have an Aussie Cattle Dog named Bandit.

Melf- I don't know if you're looking for a specific brand of Tahini, but most Oriental FS have an "ethnic selection" other than Oriental which has Indian, Mexican, and other cultural foods. Trader Joe's has tahini in the refrigerated aisles, also a wonderful eggplant hummus (not sure about the sugar load)!

Rosalie - same thing goes for chana dal, I found it in an oriental FS. There's a ton of DALS of varying sizes and colors, but I don't know if the GI is the same (8) for the different ones. The recipes all say yellow split peas can be substituted (higher GI) but the flavor is not the same. I bought the yellow chana dal, but I think I overdid it on the whole grain/high fiber intake this week, so I've been avoiding them for the last couple of days.:o

Debelli- The biggest HFS' here are GNC and Hi-Health. Then there are the little specialty stores, but I hate to go to each one to find the agave nectar. I usually go to Trader Joe's for low-fat, high fiber stuff. If I can't find agave nectar locally, does anyone have a favorite, reputable ONLINE health food stores? One would think agave nectar would be available in Arizona! They are all over the place (in the desert AND people's yards, even mine)!:D

Ok I finally got it! Thanksgiving in Canada! For me, this info will be handy come November. Any hints on SB's in camping? Thanksgiving is my retreat time. I spend a week or so in the mountains with my husband and friends. I'm so looking forward to getting away.:)

So as the Newbie, here's my question to everyone--
Who's on WHAT sugar diet? Is everyone a SB, or GI Revolution, or GI diet? There seems to be a lot of conflicting info between the GI, low/no sugar diets. Some say corn and carrots are ok, some even white (new) potatoes. Btw, thanks to Debelli for the GI vs. GL info. How strict is everyone being? How much is everyone cheating?:o Ooh, can I ask that!?:s:

I'll readily admit that I goofed yesterday. After being vigilant for over a week (& driving my hubby crazy), I went to an open house (work related). I had a choice of beer or Margaritas. Not EVEN thinking, I got the beer (Dos Equis-one of my fav's). Later, I found the water bottles. Ugh! Starting over today.

Good Sunday Morning!

Just got in from ym walk/jog. Was only going to do 3.5 miles and then figured since we're going out for dinner, I better go the 4.5 instead. Was hard to get in the jogs today, so hot out there-but I did 17 of them, but barely.

ZANNE, your Thanksgiving sounded nice, and the apple pies you made sound delicious, even if they came out a bit dry. You may want to try the BLUEBERRY BUCKLE RECIPE and substitute apples instead of blueberries one day.

ROSALIE, HAPPY THANKSGIVING to you too! Enjoy your dinner, and time with the family today.

JRED, sunny and cool? Can you send some this way, please! Glad you liked the GL article, I thought it was interesting, and informative. On the looks, that's going to take a whole lotta help-really, I don't lie-I have bat wing arms, thighs like an elephant, etc. etc.-no one could be happy with that-it will change, somehow!!!

TREE, GNC's, at least the ones here, don't have any health "foods". Try calling a few in your area for agave, I'm sure someone has it, or can at least order it for you. If not, I do have some places you can order it from, but the cost of agave is high as it is, and with shipping, it just doesn't pay. Camping on SB is really quite easy, actually, any traveling can be easy, esp. if you have a cooler (do you?) Whenever I travel I take my foods with me-for instance, FIBER ONE with powdered milk-just add water and viola, you've got milk with your cereal! Give me an idea what you have to work with as far as supplies go, and I'll throw you out some ideas. I'm sure the gals on the board have some good ideas as well. To answer your questions on my end. I follow SB and Montignac. After a lot of reading, I say RAW CARROTS in small amounts are considered to be okay-I know, it CAN easily get confusing at times to decipher things out, but you learn in time. How strict, lets just say I'm quite ANAL on that subject - 1 1/2 years later, I haven't cheated yet, don't feel the need to do so. PLUS, I know me, if I cheat, I keep going and can't get back on the right track, so with that in mind and years of that in experience of happening in the past, not to mention other gals telling the board how sick they feel when they do eat off plan-that keeps me on the straight and narrow!

Gotta run and get in the shower. Will check in with you all tonight.

Please remember, tomorrow starts the new weekly board and it's MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY TOMORROW! If you have any words of wisdom, quotes or stories that you feel would help us in our journey, please, try to post them tomorrow.

Have a wonderful day!

Hey Girls!

I'm having so much trouble loading up this last page! So, I just decided to give up and do my post. It's really wierd, it will only load up to a certain percentage of the page then I hit reload and it will reload even less!! I'm so aggrivated!!

GATOR, GATOR, GATOR: Ouch!! That hurt! When I tell you that the Gators looked great - they were awesome. That quarterback sure can nail them. And as for Brock Berlin - you know he's a Louisiana boy that chose not to come to LSU - well, he did good too. You know that the LSU fans actually BOOed him when he came out? I tell ya - Florida played a flawless game and what made them look even better was that LSU looked like ****! HAHA! Oh well, maybe next year! By the way - I think we are coming to The Swamp for our road trip next year! So, we'll keep you posted!

BOB: Sorry about the loss...I'm also feeling your pain! Oh well, life goes on!!!

DEBBIE: I missed your birthday - I'm so sorry!! That's what happens when you don't get on the board every day!! Hope you had a good one!! By the way - great pics - you look fabulous!

Hope everyone is doing good - sorry I couldn't read all the posts!

See yall again soon!

Hope eveyone is having a happy Sunday.

Didn't get in a run yesterday, had a nasty headache all day! Weather induced plus dehydration. Will try again today, nice weather so I can run anytime of day.

Sorry to those football fans with teams lost yesterday. For me, I was excited. Glad to see Auburn and Georgia win. Was pulling for Texas over Oklahoma, but OK looked too good. Lots of great football on today!

I don't guess I am going to have a period this month! I wonder if I am experiencing early menopause. This is the 2nd time this year this has happened. Anyone know anything about this? I'm only 35, but who knows?! I sure don't!

Will now attempt to respond to you lovely ladies.

DEB - Sounds like your Mom did indeed give you a nice gift. I know you will put it to good use. Enjoy it! Thanks for the pics of the lovely ladies on the board. I've got to get some film developed from May, when Fillise and I met in Georgia. I am looking for the magazine that you were talking about.

TREE - I have used Splenda for baking with no problems. Even non-SB folks like the treats I've made with it. Happy Thanksgiving!

JRED - I was pullin' for your team yesterday! It was a good game.

ZANNE - Happy Thanksgiving! Way to go on the pants! That is always such a good feeling!

BOB - Sorry about your Vols. That was a close one! I pull for Tenn when they aren't playing GA and Auburn. I was surprised to see Ga win that one. Look at you gon' to the gym! "Vee vant to PUMP...(clap)...you up!" Will you watch the Emmy's tonight? I want to see the beginning, how they handle the security and what changes have been made in the celebs clothes.

MELF - Glad you like the avatar. It's been getting mixed reviews. I agree with you and SEF regarding when it's your time to go, God will pluck you from this Earth. I have always had those feelings, glad to have you 2 ladies put it in perspective for me. I've mentioned driving to DH and he isn't oppose to it. It will save us money but cost us time. I have to decide here pretty soon.

TV - Your son had a good day at the ball park! Hope he can keep up the momentum.

FILLISE - WAR EAGLE!! It looked like a beautiful night in Auburn! How has your trip to NC been? Weather is wonderful today here.

MELIRIS - Yes I am running a marathon. This will be the 2nd time, both of them at WDW. I was tempted to run the half at WDW, but it isn't that much more of a challenge, training wise, to double the distance. I will run past the 1/2 Marathon finish-line, will be tempting to just jog on over to it and be done in 3 hours instead of 6! Last time I tried to make the marathon fun, took a camera and snapped lots of pics. Took me 6.5 hours. Hope todo it in 5 this time, no pictures.

SEF - You are soooo right about flying. I always love your frank advice. I can imagine you saying it with a smile on your face and truthness in your heart. I'll let you know what I decide. As far as bolstering each other, I didn't mean to sound like I wanted a mutual pity-party. I think this may be another case of not being able to hear and see expressions from the posters when we use this as a form of communication. Imagine that most of the time I am smiling and being somewhat fecious as I write. See, here's :) a smile!

SOL - The marathon is Sunday, January 6th. Thanks for the info regarding the security at OIA. I need to relax about this a little bit I know. Just gotta give it time.

Well, I guess that is everyone, or just about. Hello to everyone I missed. Later friends!

Peace,
FROG

Just finished my longest run in about 6 years- 5 MILES WITH ALL THE HILLS! DIDN'T THINK I'D EVERY BE ABLE TO DO THAT AGAIN but it feels so great. Cleo the wonder poodle loved it too, but promptly passed out on the floor when we got home. The leaves are starting to turn, the lawns are finally green again after summer's scorching. I tried a Sunday morning breakfast treat this am of French toast made with the orange wrapper Ezekiel Bread and SF syrup. Not much of a treat when you're used to 100% maple syrup. It was ok, but I think I'll stick to my no artificial sweetners rule from now on. Still can't find agave syrup- may have to order it.

Fruitloup- I'm having the same problem loading pages. I just keep hitting reload and eventually it all appears, or dissappears entirely and I have to go to the top of the forum and start over. Frustrating!

Zanne and Rosalie: Happy Thanksgiving! This year is one of the few that we didn't head north to St. Catharines where dh's brother lives and join them. Usually we do both US and Canadian Thanksgivings, but somehow this year it just all seemed too much.
I've definitely got to find that agave before US Thansgiving since I am the family baker! Need to test out your apple pie recipes and somehow a sweet potato one that I can convince everyone is pumpkin ( Not SB legal, I think?)

Quilter- I need to find that book- from my personal experience, strong women can assuredly be fat- I've been a weightlifter and runner for over twenty years and managed to put on 50 pounds in that time. I'd love to read it and see what she says. I can't remember whose signature has it, but someone's is "you can exercise til the cows come home but if you don't eat right you'll still be a cow coming home". That has to be the motto for the rest of my life. I'm headed to the library later today, will try to find it.

Tree- Welcome to the board. In answer to you questions ( and yes, you can ask anything you want, but we might not all answer) I'm STRICTLY SB and except for my foray into artificial sweetners this morning, everything Debbie says goes for me. I try to eat like a pre-agricultural hunter-gatherer, no processed, refined or artificial foods. Lots of protein and veggies and fruit, and some dairy. I have mostly cut out wheat except for very occaisional SGWW flatbreads. I know this is too extreme for everyone, and may be for me in the long run, but its working and sustainable for me now.

Melf- I've found Tahini in every grocery store around here, usually with the peanut butters. Maybe the Phila. area is different from where you are. Duh!

Bob- Sorry your team got beat up on- my dd called me last night to let me know that her team (Ohio State) was thrashing my team (Northwestern). OSU's first night game in their newly refurbished huge stadium with lights for the first time. Theyn were really cranked! She said to turn on ESPN and look for her- red OSU sweatshirt with a fake Buckeye tatoo on her cheek. Bright kid- saw 101,000 that looked just like her!

Deb- You are really racking up the miles! I think we need to have a virtual cross country race. I think Frog would probably win, tho. Or my dog.

Music Teach- Hi! I don't think I've welcomed you yet.

Hello to everyone else- gotta hit the shower then the library!

I noticed that some of you use "SGWW". I figured out that the WW is whole wheat, but what do the SG stand for?????

I've tried to figure it out, but just can't. Once I see the answer, I'll probably say to myself, "oh, duh"

Good Sunday afternoon all!

Arthur has decided to take himself elsewhere, so I am very comfortable. Even the sciatica is doing better.

The weather is just glorious. Last night, with the bedroom window, open I had to turn off the fan over the bed about 3a! Even pulled up a very light weight blanket!!!! But, this morning in church, the choir loft was HOT, we were fanning like crazy! As we were leaving after the service the AC kicked in, too late!!!!

We're a hen house this week, ds left on a business trip and won't be back until Thursday, just us girls holding down the fort. I get a little break from heavy duty cooking, as we don't seem to eat like we do when he is home.

I haven't called my sister today, but last report was my bil is doing well. I am going to call later on for the latest.

MELF - Yep, a real doozy of a senior moment!!! Glad your bil is home, he really had a rough time! Could that be why they did not send him to rehab, needs a little more building up?

Thanx for thinking the medical info for your loved ones is a good idea. I know you read articles that say write down your questions and meds for doctor. I suggested that we "oldersters" do it, but you youngsters could suggest to your parents or grandparents that they do it for you.

I included mu SSN, DOB, Insurance company and ID#, previous surgeries and diagnoses, present meds, allergies and current complaints. I had writen it down for my own info to remind me what to put on the doctors questionaire, than thought it a good idea to put a copy in my pocket book, then thought to give it to family.

Maybe you nurses might think of something else that I should have included. The one in my pocket book includes emergency numbers and doctor' s name etc. Geez sounds like I'm on some darn crusade!!!

DEB - I decided to give myself a birthday present. The "Young At Heart" group at church does various things, but I have not been able to afford to go. Now with the change in my finances I can afford a treat now and then. So, on the 19th I am going with them on a two hour cruise (Hmmm, shades of Gilligan!!)m on the Natchez riverboat and dinner afterwards. The cruise is $9.25 and dinner cost is individual choice. I am really looking forward to it, I have missed a couple of good things the group has gone to, one being "The Lord of the Dance", I've wanted to see that for so long. Oh well, such is life.

MUSIC - Better you than me with all those youngsters! I was a GS leader for years, but NEVER wanted to be a Brownie leader! I can handle 5th and 6th grade age level much better!

ZANNE - No such thing as a dumb question, just dumb not to ask!! SG is stone ground, a less refined wheat flour. Congrats and the pants, no matter what size we wear after holiday meals we all want to unzip!!!! You are doing great!

JRED - The redheads in our town used to be blamed on the redheaded dry cleaner! In those days he picked up and delivered your clothes. There really weren't any redhead families in town so if one did show up it was blamed on Jax. Oh the things that go in in small towns!!!

FROG - Never fear. I have a sense of humor about myself, and sometimes it is unforunate that I have one about others too!!! Sometimes it gets me in trouble!!!

People on this Board do not have an attack mode. We agree to disagree and respect each other. That's what I like about you all.

I'll have to watch myself, I think this is the second time I made myself misunderstood!!! You'll all have to take me warts and all, sometimes I can be pretty warty!!!!! I meant that we couldn't dwell on a pity party (sometimes the more we pity ourselves the more we want to pity ourselves) we need a kick in the butt party. No that's not right either, I have been good, just the pounds aren't cooperating! Yea, let's have a pity party!!!!!!

MEL - You made me so homesick! Leaves are still changing? They haven't stopped? I'm so glad! Living here the last two years or so, I was beginning to feel like the leaves don't change anymore!!! You just reminded me they do! And I miss it!!!!! Oh well, maybe I'll get to see it again. I hope to make a trip to NE PA next year. In the meantime, keep telling us about the fall!!!! W

Well, want to do some stitching and haven't looked at the paper yet. Also want to call my sister.

Take care, all sef

AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY

Well, I'm almost out of my funk....it will take a while...I knew we weren't going to win the eastern division, but it still smarts when
we lose a game...

MEL WAY TO GO GIRL 5 miles no wonder CLEO was a pooped pup....:o
101,000 people...you're stadium is just a few pairs of feet short of our 107,000...Neyland is always standing room only and it still amazes me that that many people want to see a good game of football in the #1 rated stadium in the nation!! ;)

FROG PULLING FOR GEORGIA.....YIKES!!! :o
I did the same thing with my period before I stopped all together.
Have a blood test called the fish test and it will tell you if you are starting in...already in etc....could attribute to the weight gain also...it just might not be all your medicines fault...

SUSAN ARE YOU BACK YET???? or are you still in NC kissing all the guys!!!

SOL What can I say....?????? I know just how you feel!!!

I'm going to retire early....I'm definately watching the EMMY'S tonight...wouldn't miss them..I can tape what I normally would have watched.
I've got a big pot roast in the oven for dinner....with roasted veggies...making some coleslaw....
Baking a quiche to have for my breakfast next week...

ALSO...here's a little dittie for you all to try when you need something sweet...

Nuke 2 oz of cream cheese for 30 sec
beat in 1 whole egg
add 1 pkg artificial sweetner of your choice
1 tbs of either cinnamon or cocoa
When completely mixed, nuke again for 1min & 30 sec....YUMMY

Have a good evening....I probably won't be back on tonight...

Hello everyone

I am sorry that I have not posted all weekend. We had a very busy weekend so I couldn't find the time. Friday we traveled round trip 73 miles to a football game. The cougars won!!!:) Then Saturday morning I hit the floor running. I needed to go to the grocery store and Noah(my middle child and band student) needed a haircut. As soon as we returned home unloaded groceries ....grabed a quick bite we were off for band contest. Our wonderful cougar band got all 1's. It was so cold ....we were snuggled up together in the stands. I could have used a hot chocolate.;) I was in luck ....the host school has a hospitality house for band directors and bus drivers so we went in there to eat. There was nothing in the concession stand I could and I had only brought an apple in my purse. They had a good spread for us. I had turkey deli meat ......olives.......and fruit. Yes I ate fruit with my meal....I did fine. It kept me out of those chocolate cakes they had on display.:p

Deb........I finally found agave syrup but have not had time to go get it. I will be going by the health food store tomorrow. I am excited about trying it. Also I bought some hummus at the grocery store. I love it. What do you eat it with?

We are about to go to church...so I will see you all on Monday.

Good Sunday evening y'all!

I wanted to say Thank You to everyone for welcoming we back and reminding me that I have a wonderful group of friends I've never met (except for Fillise), that are there for me when I need them.

Well, it looks like we are in the thick of it overseas! Please continue to pray for our leaders, our military and innocent victims. We do what we must to protect our nation. Thank God Italy, France, Great Britian, Russia and Germany are declaring themselves allies! We knew it was coming, now the suspense of "when" is over.

On a different note, tried to be a very good girl today and have watched my diet quite carefully. I ate a big, but late breakfast, a midday snack and a fairly light dinner. Tomorrow I will SERIOUSLY begin to keep a food diary. Deb has suggested this to me about 1000 times, now I know that I gotta do it.

On the exercise front, when for that long run that I'd been talking about since Friday - 9.5 miles :D It was the easiest run of that distance yet. Partly because of the weather I'm sure. Marathon is 3 months from yesterday, gotta get busy! 12 training progam will start VERY soon, next week I think.

MELIRIS - Your 5 mile run with your pooch is GREAT! I used to run with "Dixie" my chocolate lab, but she is getting to be a little senior now at 8 years and I don't take her for more than 3 miles now. She used to be able to handle a 10-k. What size is your poodle? They are such smart dogs, one of the smartest breeds, but I bet you already knew that! I liked your idea of a virtual cross country race. I should keep with up my mileage next year and see how far I run in a year. That could be really motivating. Good luck with your runs. If you are interested in returning to longer distances maybe we could meet somewhere and run a race together. A 15-K or a 1/2 marathon? What cha think?

SEF - Glad to hear that you're feeling better. I'm sorry if you thought I misunderstood you. I don't think I did and I certain didn't take anything personally. Like I said before, we lose so much without our voices and facial expressions. I was agreeing with you that we shouldn't be pitiful. We should be hopeful! :) I think that a "Refocus Ourselves Event" would be the best thing. I am trying to do that. I really hate that I have gained weight that I've lost. But I'm gonna try to work harder. Know that I ALWAYS enjoy your posts and was not :( or :?: by what you said. I got nuttin' but  for ya! Truth be known, I kinda think of you as my on-line Mama! You were there for me when I almost left the board because of a problem with my Spewer stories and Barb, you've given me advice when I've asked and support when I needed it. I appreciate you!

BOB - I know you may not read this until tomorrow (mon), but I'm curious about the "fish test." I know that the meds have the potential to slow my metabolism, but I also know that moving my body and putting down the fat will also help. Can't blame it all on the pharmacist.

BUSDEB - Cute graphic! Where in Bama are you? I'm from Columbus, GA. Lived there for 28 years! I was in band from 6th grade all the way through high school. I loved band and competitions too. I remember that the band from Enterprise High School in Enterprise, AL had a really strong band. Are you familiar with them? I played clarinet my freshman year, cymbals 10-11th, and was on flag corps my senior year. What about your band student(s)? Where was the competition? So many fond memories of those years. Great friends, trips, funny stories, etc. Hope your children are enjoying it as much as I did. You've reminded me of a happy time in my youth. Thank you!

Well, time for one of my weekly manicures in front of the tv watching the Sopranos and other shows.

Peace,
FROG

Evening!

Got home a little bit ago from dinner, it was very nice, as well as delicious. I had prime rib, sweet potato and the salad bar. It came with dessert, but I just had them box it up without even bringing it to the table. Wasn't happy to hear they'll be tearing down the place come Jan-March of next year:( That sure sucks! Sucked even worse when Eli got a speeding ticket on the way home-he didn't heed my warning to slow down!!!!

FRUIT, thanks for the belated birthday wishes! You may want to try to delete some cookies if you are having a hard time loading the pages, sometimes that helps me out-just a pain to have to put in log in names again because it removes that info. Glad you liked the pics-thanks for the nice comment:)

FROG, see if your library has a copy of the magazine, they should-since it's just out on the newstands, you shouldn't have much trouble finding it. Hoping to see those pics you got one day;) As for the period, hope it's nothing but stress related, but do check with your Dr and see what he/she says. There was a small article about this women who's running the WDW Marathon in our paper today, of course, I thought of you:) BTW, I too played clarinet in band-at least I pretended to do so!!! Good luck with your food journal-don't hesitate to contact me if you need any input!! You know I'm willing to help in any way:) Good going on the run-I'm tired just thinking about you running that distance!

MEL, you go girl, 5 miles, with hills-WOW! I would of been on the ground far before Cleo was! I tried making French Toast with EZ bread-it sucked, don't know if it was the bread, or my cooking! E-mail me with your snail mail addy if you want and I'll send you some of the little packets of agave syrup I got, at least you can try it and see if you like it.

ZANNE, STONE GROUND WHOLE WHEAT :)

SEF, glad to hear you're feeling better. Sounds like you have a nice bday planned for yourself. I'd like to buy myself something, just haven't decided what, if anything. I'm too practical and that gets in the way sometimes, I need tires and my a/c fixed-how can I possibly justify a frivolous item just because it's my bday? Okay, maybe a pair of gloves that cost $4.99 isn't too frivolous, I do need them desperately! What's the latest on your BIL?

BOB, definitely watching the Emmy's huh-must of been the only one! Can you believe, they're going to tear down the Voyager-I'm heartbroken! Felt bad, they were pretty slow there tonight.

BUSDEB, glad to hear you finally found the agave syrup. Let me know when you get my little package-no note enclosed, just tossed it in the mail. Hummus, with WW pita bread, or celery is another good way to eat it. Why not make it? Lots better, and cheaper too! Easy as 1, 2, 3 and takes about 5 minutes.

Time to hit the hay. I'll have the new weekly board up and running tomorrow morning!

Nite!

FROG - Thanx for the kind words!! I know you weren't angry!

I like that "Refocus Idea" just need to know on what!?! I'm not cheating, are you? We're exercising! Well, I.m not running a marathon but am doing what I can for my size and condition. Maybe need a more positive outlook!!!

I needed a couple of dresses and got two on sale at Roaman's, they were 2 sizes smaller, also a couple of nightgowns. I ordered a pair of slacks for 9.88 and was a little too optimistic!!! Without my briefer they were snug! But for 10 bucks I'm not returning them, will hang on to them for another 5# loss which ought to make them fit!

My dd was in band from 5th grade through college, played the drums (no wonder I had migraines!), it was a wonderful experience, the Bloomsburg College band even went to Orlando Disney World.

Our choir leader put out a call for anyone who wanted to dust off their instruments to form an orchestra for the church. So far 10 people came forward. They played at today's service and were pretty good. So don't lose your lip, never know when you might want to use it.

I had a thought about your menstral cycle. Sometimes, extreme exerise, like training for long runs, can affect your cycle. I think the advice someone else gave about checking with doctor is a good one!

DEB - Called my sister tonight and no answer, then when I came online now there was a note. BIL was supposed to come home tomorrow, but has been running a fever so they are keeping him until Wednesday. Doris says she spends most of time at hospital, to keep Jim doing breathing exercises and walking. She has Lymes Disease and tires easily herself, so this is hard on them both!!!
Hope all is well with everyone.

Take care, sef.
