Hi! I'm here to tell you that Richard Simmons videos worked for me! I don't do them anymore -- know why? Because his workouts taught me to love to move and shake my body and how important it is to build up my muscles. I did his workouts every day and my husband often said the first voice he heard every morning was Richard's! Eventually, however, the time came when I needed more challenging workouts. So I moved on to more advanced workouts.
I worked with Richard's Sweatin' 3 as my very first workout video. Others I adored were Sweatin'2, Sweat & Shout, Groovin in the House, Toning Uptown and Downtown, Broadway Sweat and Disco Sweat. He taught me that exercise is so much fun! I still do videos today -- about 1 hour each morning first thing. I'm in the best physical condition of my life... and today is my 57the birthday.
So, I encourage you to let Richard show you how to love to exercise! I hope it brings you the joy it has brought to me.

I use the old Richard Simmons workout videos too. I like them and get pretty sweaty from them.

I also use his videos. My mom got me hooked on them. My favorites are the Broadway ones (Sweat, Blast Off, and Tone) and the Latin Blast Off. I used to think he was really annoying when my mom was doing the videos, but then she talked me in to trying them. Now he just makes me smile. He's strangely addicting! :dancer: :dancer: :dancer:

I used to do the Sweatin' series too. I lost a lot of weight with them (regained and now am halfway through re-losing). I loved them. Actually, I still do. I love crazynette's comment that he's strangely addicting. That's very accurate. :)

You've all just inspired me to get my Sweating To The Oldies tape out. I do Curves 3 mornings a week before work but they don't open early enough on Tue. & Thur. so I will get up and and dance with Richard on those days. I did them every morning for about a year back in the early 90's, I droped about 50 pounds. Any activity is good and I love to dance.

I purchased 2 oldies tapes on E-Bay last month for around $10.00. I have bad feet (plantar fasciitis, inflammation of the tissue on the bottom of my foot), bunions and heel spurs. So I can't follow Richard's movements but I do put the tape in and watch them while on my old Nordic Track Ski machine. I love the music and his energy inspires me, I can keep the beat on skis and I get very sweaty trying to keep up.

I Love Richard! This last October, my friend and I spent the weekend with Richard :) We went to a weekend retreat down in Beverly Hills at his Slimmons Studio. We had a BLAST! Everything you see him do, the way he acts, is all the way he is. He's very emotional and he's funny as h*l*, but there's a very serious side to him as well. He cuts through the crap and gets right to the point. His Sweatin' classes are just like his videos, and he has this amazing following. People were there from all over the US. We are hoping he does it again this year, coz it was SO much fun!!

I've got some really fond memories of the Sweatin' to the Oldies tapes! My mom and I did them when I was younger all the time! To this day when I hear some of the songs off of them I will do the moves :) They are lots of fun!

I'm back hooked to the Sweatin Tapes which I found last weekend cleaning out the basement. I didn't realize what a workout routine I had fallen into until I popped the tape in on Monday afternoon. While I won't be doing the tapes every day, they're going to make a nice additon into the workout rotation.

I finally got up yesterday morning and worked out with Richard. The first Sweating to the Oldies is the tape I found, so that is what I did. It is also the one I did most in the past, amazing how easy it all came back, I barely missed a step. I got my heartrate up as wll as I do when I work out at Curves. I am going to start doing this at least twice a week, on the days my Curves opens late. I'll have to hunt up my other tapes, I know I have at least a couple more. I think I have Blast Off, if I do I'll make a list of the soungs for you iaf.
Have fun Sweating to the Oldies fans.

I just got "Supersweatin' Party Off the Pounds." I did it for the first time today, and I think it is my new favorite workout. It's very classic Richard Simmon's moves, nothing really new or hard to follow, and I love the songs. It's all 80's music, like "If I could Turn Back Time," and "Like a Virgin." I was singing along through the whole thing. It was so much fun!!! I would love a monthly thread. I'll keep an eye out for it! Happy dancing all!!
