Hi everyone! I know I'm new to this area of the board, but I just started the Turbo Jam workouts and really love them. I thought that I'd see if there's any Turbo Jammers out there who would like to start a chat/support thread.

I just started "Jamming" Saturday, and have only done the Learn and Burn. I'm starting slowly but surely!

I hope to meet some more of you who are doing Turbo Jam too! :carrot:

Hi Melissa!

Glad to hear that you are enjoying Turbo Jam! The DVDs are among my favorites! Chalene is SOOOO upbeat!

I really sweat while I am working out with Turbo Jam! I am getting to be more coordinated and have lots more energy since I added it to my exercise routine.

Enjoy!:turkey:

Hello all! I just got my DVD's today, and of course started with Learn and Burn. Wow! That was quite a workout for me, as I'd let myself get very very very out of shape. One thing I discovered from the workout is that I need new shoes! Mine are a bit too worn out and my knees are killing me due to the fact that I walk to the outsides of my feet, so my shoes have been "molded" to my feet for a few months now. I am going tomorrow to buy a pair that I will ONLY use for exercise. The DVD was very fun and motivational, I can see myself getting into them fairly easily. God, I have to do it this time, I am so tired of being fat...I can't keep on like I have been. Good luck to all of us!

I absolutely love, love ALL of the turbo jam workouts. I started out with L&B in May of this year and I haven't looked back...still can't believe that I'm able to complete punch, kick & jam. I normally workout 5-6 days per week...not bad, considering I had been a couch potato for the past 15 years. Here recently, I have been throwing in workouts other than turbo jam a couple of times a week for a little variety. I still haven't found anything as addictive and fun as turbo jam. I've ordered Chalene's latest ball workouts and I am so amped...chomping at the bit...come on beachbody, send me my stuff!

I'm hoping to see a new "challenge" thread soon. I'm ready to kick things up a notch. Happy jamming ladies.:carrot:

Hi Eldubu! You are going to love them. I hate to exercise and I do love TJ! In fact, I just finished the 20 minute workout and I'm thinking about doing the L&B, just for a little something extra. I hope you'll keep us updated on your progress!

bbobsgrl, a challenge is a great idea! I love it. You could start one for us! Congrats on your success with TJ.

Are you all following a diet plan too or mainly just focusing on exercise and healthy eating?

Happy Thanksgiving! :thanks2:

I've been doing Turbo Jam aswell as watching what I eat. In the past I tried weight watchers and it worked as long as I ate their meals and counted points but I felt like I was tied down to that notebook. So I decided to merge both the Turbo Jam and the Weight Watchers. oh and the special K diet aswell.

I am not a morning person so I wake up around 10:30 - 11:00 Have a big glass of milk watch tv for about an hour start getting ready for work stick a weight watchers meal in the microwave while Im doing my hair, and eat 1/2 before going out the door. While at work I eat a Special K snack or Wheat Thins (man I love Wheat thins) or a bowl of special K cereal with 2% milk. After work I come home around 10:30 eat another Weight Watchers meal or if Im in the mood Ill cook some kind of fish or chicken but for the most part its W.W.M for me. I hate counting calories it's a pain, and I figured Weight Watcher Meals are good and pretty filling.

I should also start taking a multivitamin or something to make sure Im getting all the vitamins I need.

I am loving these TJ threads! I'm a gym chick, spending 90 minutes a day, 3-4 days a week and feel like I'm getting bored of my routine:( Starting to gain back, about 5 pounds (no, I won't change my ticker to say 224, be patient with me whilst I bask in my denial) and looking for something new and something to KICK MY BUTT back on track! So a friend at work does her TJ videos, LOVES them so I've done a bit of checking and am finding you gals on my 3FC loves it too so I'M ON BOARD! Done some checking, yes, eBay has some GREAT deals...I'm going to check the video store today to see if I can rent any of them (at my local Family Video, fitness rentals are FREE but I imagine they're referring to some Jane Fonda VHS from the 80s lol, but I'll still check)..also the aforementioned friend has mentioned loaning me hers....

So thanks for the motivation, I'll check back after I get my mitts on the DVD!

Wow cgonzalez!! That's amazing! Thanks for sharing your ideas. I was doing the core plan of WW but recently haven't been doing much of anything. I need to get back into my eating plan, recently I've been so tired and stressed I haven't had time to cook or to care much. But at least I've started exercising regularly, which is a big thing for me! :D
I think the vitamins help too. I'm actually taking a prenatal vitamin because dh and I are ttc. I think they help a lot with my energy and how I feel.

Michelle, I'm really loving TJ, and I'm just a "beginner" exerciser. I'm sure you'll find them to be easy to get the hang of. They're tons of fun, I've stayed with it more than anything else I've ever tried.

Hi all! I ordered it! I'm so excited to get my DVDs. I ordered Turbo Jam on Nov 22 so i hope to get them sometime this week. But i don't know with the holiday and all. You all made it sound like so much fun. I really hate to work out. So this should be good for me. My DH is currently in Iraq and has been for the last three months. My goal was to look hot for him when he gets home and i have been putting it off. Now he comes home in three months and i haven't done a thing. I need motivation and you all look like you can give it to me. I'm up for challange when i get my tapes. Good luck!:)

congonzalez, :bravo: on such an amazing loss!! That's 5 more pounds, right?? Wow!! Your menu looks good...much better than mine have been lately!!

Well I have been a total slacker this week with TJ. My plan is to get back on board first thing in the morning! I need to go find a WOWY partner I guess, that will probably help.
I'll let you all know how it goes!!

So it's sounding like TJ is really that good, huh? I've been hedging on it for awhile, mostly cause I don't have the money for it (and won't for a long time, if things keep on the way they have been), but also cause I've tried things like Minna's Balanced Blend and the cardio was 75% squats and since I am still a novice exerciser it blew my thighs and knees out totally, so I'm really wary of anything that seems even remotely "hardcore" or "dancey". Also, I am terribly uncoordinated and my balance sucks.

Maybe I'll put it on my Yule list. My mom might spring for it, or maybe my dad. He's trying to encourage me in my weight loss, and to a somewhat lesser although more supportive degree, so is my mom.

But it sounds like you guys REALLY love it....You lot are nearly enough to convince me.

12-02-2006, 11:39 AM
Nikaia, it's worth giving tj a try. It can be as dancey or not as dancey as you like. :) She encourages low-impact for those who need it, and there are a couple of people who always demonstrate doing the moves without moving feet from the floor. Anyway, let us know what you decide!

I can't do TJ right now, unfortunately. My DH is laying down laminate flooring and it's taking longer than we thought it would (of course!!). Anyway, the house is a disaster and there's no room to TJ. It stinks! Hopefully it will be finished by Monday. I think I have a sinus infection anyway, so I'm not feeling too hot. Plus I have to write two papers (I'm in grad school).
Anyway, I hope that the rest of you are doing well!

Hello,

I have a question about turbo jam. Do these exercises require you to get down on the floor...then up again...then down on the floor again? :?: I have been doing the workouts on FitTV, and they seem to require you to get down on the floor a lot, which I do not like! I would like to find a workout that doesn't require so much of that...hopefully one where I would be standing the whole time. My knees and elbows have been sore from doing the workouts on FitTV.

Thanks! :D

I have been doing Turbo Jam for about 3 months. There is one tape that you need to do on the floor, but it's the abs one. It has one section for abs standing up and one lying down...you can choose only to do the standing up one. I love the Cardio Party DVD's, I have the first two and I am planning on getting the third one. I just love them, they keep me going with the great music. You should try them, they are great. You can get the tapes seperatley on Ebay. Hope this helped you!

Obsidianbbw, hi there! I have WWTP too and like them, but TJ is a much better workout. You can really feel it!

Hi Starzzy, like was said above, TJ doesn't do floor work much (I haven't even gotten to the ab one yet). She does standing ab work--and it's really true. When you do those standing crunches you can feel the burn. :D

 Hi MookieMunchkin!

Oh, yes, I got TJ (the whole set, just as they sell on beach body) on ebay and saved about $20.

ChristinaMarie, let us know when you start! I'm going to be starting back probably mid-week. :exercise:

Hi Melissa!

Just found your post today!

Yes, I use Turbo Jam right along with quite a few other DVDs. I get bored easily and like to mix it up! Most recently I have been doing step aerobics. Both Turbo Jam and step aerobics really make me SWEAT! I feel like I am getting a really good workout with both of them.

How's it going for you?

Hey Christina, heres an idea for you. Instead of starting right out at waking up 20 minutes early, start out with 10 minutes. I'm trying to get up 10 minutes earlier in the morning so that I can do the standing portion of Ab Jam. There's NO way I'd be able to get up 20 minutes early right away! =)

Hi all. I too love Turbo Jam. I usually one do it about once a week because I go to the gym 6 days a week so where to fit in is always the question. I have many exercise videos and do like to change things up a bit but will say TJ is one of my favourites next to Tae Bo (Billy Blanks). I hadn't heard about the Ball videos from Chalene that someone had previously posted a few posts back. Where did you hear about them? Beachbody doesn't have it advertised. Anyway, I've done all the current DVD's in TJ series and encourage all to try them. They are addictive and certainly get your heart rate a pumpin'! Let me know what you think.

I started a post re: Turbo Jam ages ago to share my love for this workout. I've been using Turbo Jam as my main cardio workout since September 2005!!!!! The Maximum Results package is my favorite but the two newest ones rate right up there too.

The newest one Turbo Blast is the only workout where you have to go up and down and up and down - that one is harder for me to do as I get dizzy but other then that - the time goes so fast and it is FUN! The other workout you get down on the floor with is Ab Jam but it is 9 minutes standing and then the last 9 minutes are on the floor.

I recommend signing up for Beachbody's newsletter to get their discounts. They are no longer accepting codes as of the new year. Another option is QVC but I think they are going to soon but ending the package on there too. They just had it on on New Years Day I believe with Janelle, Chalene's sister. I would for sure start with the first set when beginning Turbo Jam whether a beginner or advance exerciser. I have been doing Tae Bo for 8 years this February although since Turbo Jam, I don't reach for a Tae Bo tape very often.

Beachbody forums are also a great place to go if you need any ideas or want support - most are very helpful. :)

I can NOT say enough good about this workout. It's not exercise to me. I haven't lost weight since August but I've been maintaining. I did lose 20 pounds since starting Turbo Jam though - it was what finally got my scale and my measuring tape to finally MOVE and it moved down thank goodness.

You can't go wrong with these workouts - I hardly hear of anyone saying they dislike them - although there are people that I'm sure do. That is why it is so wonderful that there are so many workouts out there that fit each of us - it's just finding that one workout that makes you keep pushing play.

Happy New Year - here is to 12 more months of jammin'!!!!!!!!!! :)

The newest workouts can be found here:

AAAAAH!!! LOL I finally received my Turbo Jam today! I got it used off of Amazon for only $40! So, I was thrilled about that. But, I'll tell you what I'm more thrilled about...this workout!! I absolutely love it! I did the Learn and Burn and the 20 minute cardio tonight. I actually found myself smiling during the workout. I NEVER smile when I'm working out!
I did TaeBo for a year and a half and really grew to HATE it after a while. I would dread doing it all day long.
This is NOTHING like TaeBo, as I feared it might be. No angry workout here!
Thanks guys for pointing me in the right direction! Woohoo!!!

I'm another one that is waiting for my DVD's to arrive. I watched the infomercial about 20 times and still wasn't super convinced, but seeing all of these posts about how much everyone loves the videos really made me want to at least try them. I ordered mine off of QVC for $50, so it was a better deal than the TurboJam website.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to starting, and I will come back with a post to let everyone know how it goes. If anyone wants to be a TJ "Buddy" let me know. :)

I have just started back up with my TJ dvd's and remember now why I loved them! HI All! I started doing Turbo Jam in August, but I have been slacking for a few months now. I cant wait to start it up again. Turbo Jam was a blast for me and my son loves to do it with me! I did a 1500 calorie diet and Turbo Jam and in 7 weeks I lost 26 lbs and 27 inches. I am hoping to see some good results again. Good Luck to all of you!

Hi Everyone!

I have been incorporating Turbo Jam into my weekly workouts for quite awhile now and continue to come back to it even though I also do other DVDs.

Lately I have been starting with the 20 minute workout and then adding the Cardio Mix #1. That gives me an hour altogether which makes me feel like I have really worked out successfully.

It's fun, and I like how I am getting better at remembering what comes next and also how my kicks are slowly getting higher and more controlled.

I like Chalene's upbeat attitude and how Anna Rita and Mindy provide visual guidance for low impact moves.

Hi dancediva!

I think you will be very, very happy with Turbo Jam! :carrot: Take time with the "Learn and Burn" so that you become very familiar with the basic moves. Chalene uses these moves over and over again in different combinations in all the DVDs. The "WHEEL" is one of my favorites because it is fun, and it works the lats.

Chalene never uses put downs or makes you feel anything but happy as you work out! :carrot: She's always reminding about having fun and enjoying the workout. I think that is SO important!

Be sure to check back here after you try it out!

Thanks Cheryl! I can't wait! I used to go to Jazzercise and loved it. I can't go anymore because the time they have class conflicts with my work schedule. Hi DanceDiva!

I JUST broke an EIGHT MONTH PLATEAU, so I know how going the wrong way can feel!:dizzy:

I've created my own plan based on eating the right portions of nutritious foods, adding more fiber to my diet, increasing the water I drink, watching fats, while TRYING to double my exercise. I read a lot about what REALLY works rather than try out any "wonder" plan that claims a quick fix.

First I just had to get committed to wanting to go the distance to lose this weight. I had to get my head in the right place. A Christmas photo of me at 275 pounds was my wake-up call. That was Christmas 1999. I've been zig-zagging along since then. My first loss was 25 lbs. within the first six months. My next big loss of 20 pounds was a number of months later in 2001. I stayed pretty much the same weight for the next couple years. I had another lagging period until August of 2005 when our oldest son became engaged and I thought how great it would be to weigh at HIS wedding what I weighed AT MY OWN WEDDING back in 1976!

I set my goal and went for it! I have lost 68 pounds toward my goal. At 55 and menopausal the task is tougher than it would have been if I just would have gotten my act together sooner. I'm hanging in there, though! I will make it!

You will, too!:)

Hi Cheryl! Thanks for sharing your story. It helps to see other people struggle and find success. Your plan sounds very sensible and that's what I need. I've got to quit jumping on the fad band wagon. It only sets me up for failure then I feel very bad. I did have a good day today and did not eat everything in sight!:D Turbo Jam still hasn't come but any day now!

Babygrant- :carrot: Good for you!!! You are doing very well! Your weight loss is showing it! I might have to share your secrets with the Red Team (hee, hee, just kidding;) ).

Have a good night. Maybe my package will be here tomorrow.

I have to say I've been a jammer for a couple of months now and can not get enough! I actually look forward to my workout everyday.

Wait, did I just actually type those words...I look forward to working out? It's possible the world may be ending, as I never thought that could ever ever ever happen!

Total agreement--TJ is fun! Who would have thought? It's something I can actually do without thinking, "Ugh--time to exercise."!

I have been on the 20-minute WO for about two weeks, and I'l planning to move gradually to the longer ones. I'd be interested to hear what "schedule" is working for y'all--did you go more slowly like I am, or move to the longer workouts right away? When did you add Sculpt?

Hello all: I am new to 3FC & trying to get motivated to workout & try to eat right. I have had Turbo Jam for about 1yr. now & really haven't used it! I have moved to Florida & will need to get into my shorts soon. Any advice or a big PUSH would be awsome.
Also I got the BEAN for Christmas & haven't used it. Does it work??

Wow, so many different posts to answer. As for my schedule, I moved rather quickly from the learn and burn to the full workouts. I had been working out for about a year by the time I started TJ, and while I was not in shape (and I'm still not), I wasn't huffing and puffing either. I actually find the 20 min one to be tougher than the cardio party for me. I don't know why, but it seems to be. I also don't do the sculpt too often. There are a lot of lunges, and I am not very good at them. My schedule varies from week to week, but I normally work out 4 nights a week. I alternate cardio and strength training, with abjam thrown in whenever I feel extra pumped after a workout. I normally try to do a strictly cardio, then strictly strength, then strictly cardio, then a mix. For the mix, I like the core workout with the ball.

As for Turboslim, I have the information, but I haven't tried it. I'm very picky about what I eat, and so the meal plan doesn't work for me. I don't eat healthy things like cottage cheese every, and I just CANNOT convince myself that a protein shake can be a meal. I'll stick to my version of healthy eating. I may not lose 10 lbs in 10 days, but I will lose it.

Hey guys - brand new here. Wanted to get in with the Turbo Jammers. I just started 3 weeks ago. So far I love TJ. I have initial 5 package and just (today) received Cardio Party3 and Punch Kick & Jam. I did CP3 tonight. Whew! Much faster than CP1 but I got most of it. 50 minutes! Tomorrow I'm looking forward to trying PK&J.

I'm 46, 5'8" and have been normal to thin most of my life (at 135 - 145 range). Past 4 or 5 years became total slacker and gained 40-45 pounds - still can't even believe that!!!?!?!?! Now I've got high cholestral and high blood pressure and am feeling decidedly chunky and middle-aged. I was always a hip, thin chick so it's been pissing me off!!!

I'm counting calories - trying to keep it 1500 or below and would like to get as close to 140 as I can by this summer. I'm trying to workout 5 nights a week - doing a rotation of TJ, Tae Bo and other kickboxing vids and step vids. (never been a good gym person). Just trying to burn as many calories as I can right now. Oh, and I quit smoking one month ago today (applause please!!!).

Anyway - that's my story. Happy to be here - you guys seem great and so many of you have had tremendous success already - very impressed!! Nice to meet you all! :goodvibes

Hey Everyone....

I hope i am posting this right! I am new here and i have been reading this thread and thought i'd ask for a little help. p.s very excited to find this thread and so many people who are really enjoying TJ....it seems like it's the first thing i've found where i actually believe the people on the informercial now! lol

First a little about me i guess:

I had a baby in December and have just started to get back to working out.
I am 5'7" and about 220 lbs
I want to lose 80 lbs and get back to the 140 that i was about 4 years ago.
I am motivated and dedicated and ready to start getting fit again! Mostly i want to have enough energy to play with my son as he gets older.

So....
I ordered Turbo Jam from ebay, I have the Learn & Burn, Turbo Sculpt and 20 min workout dvd. and because i loved it so much after just one day, i ordered the cardio party and Ab dvd and the cardio party mix 3.

I don't have the schedule that would come with the package and i was wondering if anyone would share with me what they suggest for a workout schedule if you ordered the whole package? Or if someone wanted to share their own idea for a good workout schedule....i am pumped and have the time to workout twice a day.

and what about for the 10 in 10 thing? I have started to eat healthy again and i was wondering what the schedule of workouts is for the 10 in 10 challenge.....or any input on the diet part would be helpful too

Thanks for any help you can offer!

Hi everyone!

I am new to this board but have been doing Turbo Jam for about a month, along with using the treadmill and elliptical.

I want to order the Turbo Jam Deluxe and/or Maximum Results packages soon, but I still haven't mastered Cardio Party 1. The squat/kicks segment just kills me. I can complete it (and the whole tape), but I know I'm not really squatting, but rather just tapping with my knees bent in a constant squat position. It's so frustrating for me, since I'm afraid I shouldn't move up into other TJ DVDs if I can't master the first set!

Still, I'm loving Turbo Jam.

I'd like to hear opinions on the strength training TJ routines -- I've been using Turbo Sculpt 2-3x per week, but I don't totally love it. What about you?

Hey Guys,

I've never seen the Turbo Jam videos, but they're based off of Chalene's class called Turbo Kickboxing. TKB is basically Turbo Jam on Steroids!!! The class is a party especially Anna Rita's class (she lost weight doing TKB -- check it out: -- http://www.turbokick.com/index.php?content=anna-rita_sloss). Isn't she in the videos too? She's the big-haired, super toned dark lady and she rocks! I live in Orange County and a lot of the people on the Turbo Jam videos are 24 hour fitness instructors in the area who teach TKB.

This workout is awesome! And they really work!

RachelleS
03-08-2007, 06:43 PM
To do TurboKick, you need to become a TurboKick Instructor which quite a few have become after starting with Turbo Jam. You can buy TK on eBay but you will spend big bucks for some of them - and they might be copies. It's against Powder Blue's (TurboKick company owned by Chalene and her hubby) policy for TK instructors to sell their Round DVD's. From what I understand, these are workouts - they are Rounds for the instructors to learn to teach at their classes.

There is a Turbo Camp in August for all TurboKick and Turbo Jammer's that want to sign up and go - you can find out more information at www.turbokick.com for the camp.

Anna-Rita is in the videos and she's lost 70 pounds doing Turbo Jam low impact. She looks awesome!

I saw the best results when I did Turbo Jam 4-5 times a week and added cardio to the strength tapes.

An idea for this would be:

Monday and Wednesday - CP 1; CP 2; CP 3; Kick n Core
Tuesday and Thursday - Turbo Sculpt + 20 Minute; Booty Sculpt + Cardio Remix; 3T + Fat Blaster
Friday - Turbo Sculpt or a different workout - Yoga Booty Ballet, Hip Hop Abs, a walk, etc.

Regarding workout schedules--I do Learn and Burn + 20-minute workout one day, then Fat Blaster the next. I got Fat Blaster from eBay--it's great! I alternate like this and work out 5 times a week, and love this schedule! I have Cardio Party also, (the one that came with the package with Learn and Burn, etc.), but felt like it didn't do a lot for me.

RachelleS

Oh, I don't like your name bigfatbiatch - sorry - it just seems so negative - if you do two days of indoor soccer, I would count that as two workout days so I would only do 3-4 days of Turbo Jam but maybe on your days of soccer do a sculpting workout (Turbo Sculpt, Booty Sculpt, or 3T) then add two TJ cardio workouts on two separate days and on the 5th day do a cardio/sculpt combo.

Example:

Monday: Soccer and 3T
Tuesday: Cardio Party 1, 2 or 3
Wednesday: Kick Punch & Jam or Kick n Core
Thursday: Soccer and Turbo Sculpt
Friday: off
Saturday: Cardio Party Remix and Booty Sculpt or Total Body Sculpt
Sunday: walk or stretch workout

Good Luck! Rachelle

I did not mean any disrespect, how about little skinny sweety? I think that a sense of humour is key to weight loss ,just trying to see humour in myself.

Debbie, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings or be disrespectful to YOU - I just felt that you were being disrespectful to yourself. In this journey of mine ;), I am learning that our mind is a huge factor in our weightloss (or lack of)! I started my weightloss journey in October 2002 and was determined I was doing this without "dieting" - it was going to be an eating plan I could live with forever so I didn't lose then gain it all back once I stopped my "diet". Exercise has never been a problem with me - I've been doing it since I was a senior in high school. Fast forward to last spring, I went to a nurse practioner that blends traditional and holistic medicine - best thing I EVER did for myself. I was 190 pounds, I lost 20 pounds from May to July and I've been at a standstill since August - did a detox in January and lost 7 pounds (I go up 2-3 pounds depending on my day) and through my appointments, have figured out it is my mentality that is the reason for the stop. Our minds are such a powerful tool. I always joked about my pregnant stomach - I knew I had a stomach that looked pregnant and people would ask me when I was due - I didn't think of it as a bad way because it is the way it is - if you can't laugh then what else can you do but cry right? Those thoughts block the way. The more positive you can be, the better you will feel about yourself!!!! Seriously. I always thought that idea of saying a positive sentence you pick for yourself in the mirror every morning wouldn't do much - and I haven't done that yet - but it would be a good way to start my day! It is humor to you; and in your eyes, it is you accepting yourself for who you are - which is what we all need to do no matter what we weigh BUT it still has that negative tone to it. As far as the biatch - I can be a one myself without even trying it seems but if I called myself that name, I would be one ALL the time. Does that make sense?

I like your new name - it is your new intention!!!!! A good one. I have YET to find a workout that brings me as much joy as Turbo Jam!!!!!

Sorry so long and wordy - I am a talker in person can you tell??? :)

you dont think that three fat chicks is negative.

Good point Debbie - I always thought of it as a title of a place, not thinking that the three were calling themselves that - so yeah, in that sense it is negative but at least they didn't add the biatch to it. I don't cringe at writing 3fatchicksdotcom as I did writing bigfatbiatch. It's your name and it is whatever YOU are comfortable with - if it bothers me so much, I don't have to write it when I post. I was getting a negative feeling from it but this is the internet - I'm sure if I met you in person, that wouldn't be the case at all. YOU KNOW YOURSELF better then anyone especially on a website!!!! I wasn't telling you to change your name. Once you start with Turbo Jam, you'll be changing it to the skinnybiatch in no time!!!!! :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: (note: I don't care for that name either BUT IT IS MY OPINION - doesn't mean I wouldn't like the person who is calling themselves that just that I don't like the name.)

You do what feels right to you and if that is the name that feels right - then call yourself whatever you please. Notice, I am not so creative when it comes to that!!!!! :)

Hi,

I recently bought the two turbo jam dvds that use the stability ball. Any suggestion as to which one to use first?

Is Chalene's cueing decent in these? I just tried Cardio Party Remix (the live one) and was lost through most of it!

Thanks!

Kick N Core, my favorite, is a Turbo Jam workout and uses the ball at the end for toning. Total Body Blast is a interval circuit type workout. She has cardio for so many minutes and then it goes to ab/core for a few minutes.

Cardio Remix is a faster pace workout. Do you have the first set? They are a little slower paced so it's easier to get the moves before moving onto the faster pace ones.

Good luck. Rachelle

Hi ladies,

I'm new to this thread, but I've been doing TJ for a while now. I've had it since last year, but I've only been committed on my journey for about 9 weeks. I've lost 18 pounds, and TJ is a big part of that. It makes me want to exercise! I love it! I'm waiting the arrival of the Maximum Results package. I will get all of them eventually. I hope there are more tapes to come. It is the most fun workout I've ever done, and for the first time in my life, I look forward to exercising. I have a slightly overweight 8 year old son, and he loves it too. So we do it together and just have a blast! I'm glad I'm not alone in my love for TJ!!!

hi all...

i'm Michelle and i'm doing the LA weight loss program.

i'm relatively new to 3FC and brand new to TJ.. i was walking around wal mart with my hubby last night and saw it and bought it on a whim. the set includes learn and burn.. the 20 minute workout and sculpt.. i got a good price on it from the looks of it.. i only paid 26 bux at wally world.

anyway, i started it today with the learn and burn.. and whew.. that was great.. i loved it. i also go to curves but was finding that a bit dull. so maybe adding in the TJ is a good thing. i got a long way to go, but i'm determined. i read something about 10 inches in 10 days?!?!?! can someone elaborate on that for me please??

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if you have noticed a difference in the amount of calories you are able to burn when using Turbo Jam in comparison to other forms of exercise? I have heard that Turbo Jam burns a lot of calories.

I am still trying to decide if I should purchase Turbo Jam or an Urban Rebounder. Turbo Jam looks like a lot of fun. :carrot:

I'd have to go look at my fitness log but if I remember correctly - I usually burn 650 to 750 calories but some I burn 800 to 900. It gets your heart rate up there.

I excercise frequently (do The Firm at home 5-6 days and gym with the kids 3 nights a week) but until recently i was doing mostly strength training and interval training. I quit smoking about a month ago (shew thank god that is over with) so ive been trying to do more cardio.....my lack of regular cardio excercise has made me very clumsy. Im able to keep up with The Firm workouts (have a ton of them) but it takes me a long time (3 or 4 times through...used to take a lot longer though so i guess ive gotten better over the years) to catch on. I just cant seem to get the swing of TJ. Seems that I need to move faster in order to keep up and i just cant seem to get there....how long does it take to catch on?...it looks like its just a ton of fun if you can keep up, but without being able to really "bring it" im just not burning very many calories or getting that wonderful endorphin rush and there are other workouts that i can do that will challenge memore.

Button, if you aren't catching up, then I would say TJ IS Challenging you and that is a good thing. A FAVORITE saying of mine is from Chalene and that is mistakes burn calories. You just started Turbo Jam - I was doing Taebo before this plus the Firm, Cathe, Slim Series, Kathy Smith, etc. - it still took me time to be able to do a whole workout and get the moves. That is part of the learning process. It was the same way with all the other workouts, especially Cathe - I wasn't able to put a tape/DVD in and do a workout all the way through with no mistakes the first few times through (and I'm sure it was more then a "few" before I did). Honestly, doing the Learn and Burn twice is not enough - in fact, for a while I did Learn and Burn on it's own and then I did Learn & Burn right before the 20 Minute one.

I still sometimes put Learn & Burn in to make sure I have the right form and I've beening TJammin' since September 2005. The 20 Minute is actually one of my favorites still - but I had to do that one a long time before I was ready to move on to the Cardio Party's. Once you do catch on, if it is a workout you like and enjoy - it will happen just like that. For some, it takes longer, others it only takes a couple of times - it just depends on the person. REMEMBER, you just got this program a few days ago!!!!! That is NOT very long AT ALL especially when it is a totally new workout to you.

Please don't get frustrated. And if Turbo Jam doesn't seem like a workout you would enjoy, then don't do it. There are SOOOOO many workouts and instructors out there - and thank goodness because we all are so different and our tastes are not the same. It's okay not to like every workout you try. I have disliked ALOT and others, I never clicked with - or some, I never saw any results with and they weren't workouts I enjoyed doing. But if I was you, and it was only less then a week into Turbo Jam, I would give it some time - at least a few more weeks before giving up on it. Some have given up right away and pull it out months later and wish they wouldn't have given it up the first time as they are really enjoying it. I actually don't hear it often, but some don't click with it.

Congratulations on no Smoking!!!!! That is so awesome for you and your family!!!!! :carrot:

Best of luck! We are here to support you - it will be okay and remember - just by pressing play, you ARE burning fat and calories!!!!!!

Hi all!

I have the original set of TJ & maximum results package. I was wondering if getting the deluxe package would be necessary? I am in love with the videos I have now :cloud9: but I wanted to know if I was missing out on some more greatness from the deluxe package.

Please share your thoughts :D

I honestly don't use the Lower Body Jam very often at all - but the lower body isn't my problem area. I know it's more then just working the lower body though so I actually should just think of it as another TJ workout. I do add in the Cardio Party 2 into my rotation along with the other Cardio Party's - it's nice as it's another 40 minute workout but burns as much calories as the 50 minute ones. If I had to choose two more workouts though - I'd choose the newest Ball ones. I really LOVE Kick 'N Core (45 mniutes) and I like that Total Body Blast (60 minutes) is different in that it is an interval/circuit - you do cardio for so many minutes and then core work on the ball. Although, you can't go wrong with any Turbo Jam workout - I like having them all so I don't get bored.

Thanks Rachelle!

I have TBB and *heart* it. My friend won it (and gave it to me) during her Turbo Kick session at the gym. I'll just keep what I have since you can't split up the packages on BB. I bought my original TJ from QVC and Booty Sculpt Live was included, but in order to get Kick-n-Core I would have to repurchase BS (and I really don't want to pay twice for a product). Oh well, I had to alter the TJ rotation to exclude the videos I don't have. So far, so good :carrot:

Hi! I love turbo jam but I am having a bit of a problem. Even though I need to lose weight I have a strong back and joints so I am a little surprised that my back hurts from turbo jam. I did it every day in November and quit with a broken heart because my puppy getting ran over.

In November my low back hurt but I explained it away. Now I have started TJ again and my back hurts so I have made the connection that the TJ is doing it. From past experience I think it is because of the back kicks. Any suggestions?? This morning I woke up and was thinking of how fun TJ is but knew that have been taking motrin to sleep so I really couldn't.

Hi Gina,

You may find some helpful suggestions on the threads located here:

http://forum.videofitness.com/search.php?searchid=1785773

You're definitely not alone! I hope you can find something that will help! The workouts are really fun.

Have you gone over to the turbo jam forums at Beachbody? They are free, and Chalene posts there-it might be a good idea to post your question there, too.

Take care,

My first thought was you are not leaning forward enough and that your hips aren't lined up correctly. Hopefully the link Sherry shared will help - videofitness is a great place to visit. I would also second asking on the Beachbody forums - you might even do a search to see if someone has asked already. They have fitness advisors that will help there so you will get a professional.

Best of luck. Form is the main reason people injury themselves. I always recommend going back to the Learn & Burn every once in awhile - no matter how long you've been doing TJ.

Thank you. I am going to take a look at that link now. I did it this morning and did the back kick really slow--more deliberate--and my back is fine today. Only a tiny bit stiff but nothing like before.

I want to see the link so I can do it right. I read a lot of the posts Rachelle and saw that you do the burn and learn every now and then. I think I will do it in the morning to make sure I am tucked correctly. I am really bad at TJ!! They shake it and look so good. I shake it and just look akward. Oh well, akward burns calories too!!

Thanks for your help!

LOL Gina - I did Cardio Party last night and my tuck isn't the same as the way they do it either! Course, I have a big belly so maybe that is why???!!!!! ;) ;) If someone saw me do TJ and then watched the TV, they would have a good laugh. I still have fun though so that is the most important thing. I'm glad it was better today - but do check out the link and BB forums - it could be something else and I wouldn't want you to injury yourself!!!!!

cheetos--

I have only done the learn & burn and 20 min. workouts about 3xs a week. I am on my second week. They are fun and I really enjoy the workouts. Next week I will start the other ones and get to jammin.

I have a question for everyone...
How do you know how many calories you have burned from the workouts? I noticed some of you stating how many calories you have burned while working out. Please help!
Thanks!:carrot: :carrot:

Melissa, I wear a heartrate monitor - you can't use those numbers as exact calories burned but you put in your weight and age and it uses a formula. I think the Polar HRM are pretty close. I use it so I know I stay in my burning fat mode and not higher where I am in the cardiovascular mode.

I really want to try turbo jam after reading the posts of people in this thread. In fact, I was gonna order it yesterday but, I've seen on the web that some people have a problem with being overcharged by beachbody. Can anyone tell me if there are alternate places to order? or explain how the beachbody ordering works? I'm a mom of 3 on a fixed income and really don't need to be insanely overcharged.

RachelleS

browneyedgirl - I've ordered on the phone and online - when I ordered HHA online, I did run into problems but I think I would go that route first - if you order on the phone, you usually get their customer service in another country. Not that that means anything but sometimes I find them hard to understand. As long as you don't say yes to anything else, you should be fine. QVC also has the Turbo Jam basic set available. It might even be cheaper and I know their customer service is great.

Good luck, I don't think it is a purchase you will be sorry about. I would never let BB CS stop me from getting a TJ workout - that is how addicted I am :).

Hey all! I'm new and in deperate need of an honest (and unbiased) opinion. Seems like this is a great place for that!

So question is: If you had to chose between Turbo Jam and Hip Hop Abs - which would you choose?

RachelleS
04-23-2007, 08:59 AM
Sask (are you from Saskatoon?) - honestly, I think it just depends on the person which one they prefer. Some will say HHA, others will say TJ. I can tell you from the ones that have been doing Turbo Jam on the boards I belong to say they like HHA and it's nice to throw in a different workout, but that they prefer Turbo Jam. Right now I'm doing T-Tapp, but after a month of that, I am adding Turbo Jam back in. And I'm actually considering selling my Hip Hop Abs although I do like the 5 minute workout. I hurt myself the last time I did it (HHA) so I'm more nervous to try it again - I think it is just too much with the way he does his tuck for my shoulder. You can always check out the forum at BB to see what others are saying - I know a lot of people like both workouts.

I was a lot of help I know! Sorry. It really is different for each person - some don't like either one. :)

Good luck! Rachelle

Thanks Rachelle! My hubby downloaded (ssshhhh!) TJ for me last night, just so I can try. I also purchased (or attempted to...) HHA. Order never progressed to the "shipping options" or "confirm order" phase so I kept resubmitting thinking it was me doing something wrong. Eventually I looked down and saw the "you have already ordered this in the past 2 hours" note. Just great... now I'm wondering how many freakin' copies I'm going to get. They have yet to answer my deperate CANCEL NOOOOWWWWW email. Yikes. So anywho... I guess I'll see which one I like better.

Again, Thanks for the help. At this point - I just need something that's fun and inspires me to move.

P :)

PS - Sask is Saskatchewan. Was in S'toon, but now Regina. I do miss Saskatoon though...

RachelleS

OMGosh - this same thing happened with me when I ordered HHA and when you call their 800, you get their customer service in Iran. Try calling 800 240 1068 - I think this is their customer service in USA. They'll fix it for you. I ordered two sets but it actually could have been three - I wanted to get to the screen to order the deluxe set. Good luck!

I grew up only a few miles from the Canadian border and my family raised and raced thoroghbreds so we spent our summers in Regina and Saskatoon with a few trips to Winnipeg. It was a great way to grow up - I love Cananda!

Keep us posted - I look forward to hearing what you think of both programs. You can't go wrong as long as you are pressing play! :) :carrot:

Good evening, all. I've had TJ since January, but I just started using it this week. Now I'm wondering why I waited so long to start! I've been getting up early in the a.m. so I can get through it without kicking a child in the head or stepping on little feet, hands, etc.

I feel so uncoordinated so much of the time. Please tell me that goes away as you get used to the routines and all the different moves. It's a good thing I do it in the basement where the neighbors can't see me!!

Jetsetter, welcome to the world of Turbo Jam!!!! I've been doing it since September 2005 and I'M STILL GLAD NO ONE CAN SEE ME!!! And this is with doing Tae Bo for 8 years. LOL! I also workout in our basement. I love Chalene's comment that mistakes burn calories - soooo true. As long as your moving, it will all come together. It's only been a week! ;) It will get easier - well, not easier but the moves will come together for you more smoothly as time goes on. And the one thing is that you'll recognize the moves in other TJ workouts so it's not like you'll have to learn all new moves as you go on. This is such a fun, fun workout - I don't even feel like it's a "workout".

Best of luck! Rachelle

Jetsetter - I don't have my TJ yet, but be assured I can outdo you in the "lack of coordination" category. Not even my husband will be seeing my shake this bootie until a few lbs come off!

Rachelle - thanks for the TJ phone number. They fixed my order and assured me I would only receive ONE (and only ONE) package. Whew! Now I can't wait for it to arrive. I love living in Canada, but it sucks that we can't get the express shipping offer extended to include Canadian addresses. I think I have to wait 4 - 5 weeks. Blah!

ive done the tae-bo tapes..and had some fun with it...my son wakes up earlier than I do, so he likes to copy my high kicks and whatnot. I have kinda jabbed him in the head once, and stepped on his teeny tiny toes a few times....he thought it was funny and did it to me....after that I couldnt do it anymore. I was wondering if TJ and the classes called "Turbo Kickboxing" that you can take at a gym are basically the same?? Ive been looking into TKB, but am kind of intimidated by the TURBO part. Im not very coordinated and have been told that my punches look kind of like im swimming. Is it for beginners or intermediate-advanced? any help is appreciated.

RachelleS
05-15-2007, 10:50 PM
Hunie, from what I understand is that Turbo Jam is basically the beginner/intermediate style of Turbo Kick. For me, I would have wanted to have some Turbo Jam behind me before going to a TK class - but I don't even have TK classes to go to so take that for what it's worth! And all those that had TK BEFORE Turbo Jam . . . which there were . . . You know what - actually - go to a class - if you like it, get Turbo Jam for your home workouts. They say there is nothing like a live class AND don't be intimidated by the Turbos - do what you can and that is all you can do and all they want you to do. You will build yourself up so it won't be AS hard - it will always BE hard because that is what Turbo is all about - getting your heartrate UP and if it was easy, it would defeat the purpose of them. I HEART the football drills - I really do.

Go for it and please come back and share so I can pretend I was there too!!! :) :) :) Can't wait to hear about it!

I am so glad that my love of Turbo Jam is flowing over to so many people!!!! It truly is one of those workouts that sells itself. There are some that it won't fit their style but for the most part, I hear more that love this workout then don't and I think that is saying a lot about it. :carrot:

Any workout that gets you moving is a good workout. I've always enjoyed exercising but this is the one workout that no matter if I am tired and worn out, I WANT to push play. It's more then just an exercise - it's FUN.

Can't wait to hear what you think nomorefatpants! I like that name by the way - I've noticed it in another post. You'll be jammin' your way into smaller size pants in NO time!!!! ;)

So im really thinking about getting turbo jam to start with...since I havent exercised in a while...and dont want to look "strange" (im very self conscious) However, I noticed that there are many TJ videos out there...which ones are the best to start with? Is there an order in which I should get them??

RachelleS
05-16-2007, 09:07 AM
huniebunie, I would for sure get the first package to start with. You need to do the Learn and Burn for awhile until you get the form down correctly. I was doing Taebo before TJ since 1997 I think it is and I needed it. Plus, the 20 Minute workout is still one of my favorites! I moved on to the 20 Minute after L&B and the Cardio Party 1 is a great way to be introduced to the rest of them. So for sure that package. Chalene recommends you get them as they are put out - and she's not just saying that to sell them either. There is a reason BUT if that is not possible, I would get Cardio Party 2 to add into your rotation and then the Maximum Result package down the road.

Best of luck! Rachelle

Hi I'm thinking about ordering Turbo Jam, but is in an indecisive position. I'm considering either Shapely Secrets or Turbo Jam, and really can't seem choose which one. The shapely Secrets gets me a bit skeptical about losing weight while standing still for 7 minutes, but Turbo Jam seems like the bomb (but i don't always have 45 minutes to dedicate to workouts. I'm a busy college chick with a sad summer job). I was hoping to get some ideas from you guys, why did you choose turbo Jam?

(sorry do i make sense?)

*clueless*

RachelleS
05-16-2007, 11:55 PM
xfudge, I just did a search a week ago on Shapely Secrets. I had called a friend of mine to tell her about T-Tapp and she mentioned that it sounded like SS which she was thinking about getting. In my search, I found that this woman also had a workout called Body Flex and not to many had much good to say about the workout - or her. If you go to videofitness dot com and do a search there is a whole post regarding this. If you are looking for an isometric workout, I would go with T-Tapp. BUT it is totally different then Turbo Jam - wayyyy different. Turbo Jam is cardio and it raises your heartrate right up there especially during Turbos. T-Tapp, I had a hard time with at first and sometimes still do because it raises the heartrate but not like TJ - in fact, it raises it higher without that impact. It is having a deep tuck, knee to little toe, shoulders back, etc.

I have been T-tapping for five weeks and I do miss my Turbo Jam. I will add it back in soon. I'm glad I have both workouts to do and I am going to sell my Cathe workouts to pay for my T-tapp ones I just ordered.

If you want a slower paced workout that is still tough, go with T-Tapp. If you want a fun, dancey, kickboxing workout that flies by - go with Turbo Jam. I'd skip Shapely Secrets. JMO. Best of luck to you! Rachelle

Ok Turbo People! I just found this forum and it was so great to see so many of my turbo sisters here! Rachelle- are you the same Rachelle on the BB boards?? This is TURBO MER here :)
To tell my story- I was a bit over 300 pounds about a year ago- found out that I was diabetic- got rushed to the hospital w/ diabetic ketoacidosis- a very dangerous state of diabetes. One night I couldn't sleep and saw Chalene Johnson and the infomercial. Never a fan of infomercials, my first instinct was to turn it off- but there was something about CHALENE'S energy- and the music- and I watched it a few times- wrote down the number- and ordered it- Last June I received it- put on learn and burn and haven't looked back. I just adored Chalene from the first work out- and the work out was so amazing- I felt strong and powerful- I joined weight watchers.
I went to the first annual camp turbo kick last August- I was terrified to go- not knowing what to expect, and what I found were the most supportive, loving and amazing people- and I got to meet Chalene and thank her. She was so gracious and amazing- She asked me to email her each time I lose 5 pounds.. which is what I did- SO- back in February, I got certified in Turbo Kick in NYC. When I emailed Chalene to tell her- she invited me to come to Chicago with her to bring me on stage on a keynote speech that she had- HUGE HUGE HUGE honor- it was about inspiring others- I told Chalene that I will continue to pay it forward to others. I will be back at camp turbo kick again this august. Chalene isn't the only great one- I got to meet her awesome sis, Jenelle, one of the sweetest people you'll ever meet- I got to meet her parents and Bret, got to meet Holly, Chicken George, Christine, Angela, Bryan, Mindy, Anna Rita- the whole crew- all great people!
Anyway, Here I am nearly a year later, after they told me last year that I would be on insulin the rest of my life- I was off of it 2 months later , then off of pills, my glucose levels are completely stable, my cholesterol is normal and I no longer snore.
I have been having a lot of fun with this journey and feel so fortunate to have met so many supportive people.
If you can, try to go to camp turbo kick.
I am also a coach for million dollar body-
check out my myspace - my myspace name is blinkycat
I am still looking forward to paying it forward- I have about 55 or so pounds to go- but am getting there-
Nice to meet everyone!

No step required - at least not for the workouts I've been doing. I'd urge anyone to try TJ (and Hip Hop Abs). Both are fun, fun, fun! You blink and before you know it - the 20 or 30 minutes have flown by. I don't know about anyone else - but that's totally what I need right now to keep me moving!

I would suggest 2-3 times a week. Leaving a day inbetween workouts that involve strength training is usually what is recommended. I usually do mine every other day.

IMO not really, the first half it easy since it's standing abs, the second half is done on the floor and it's a little bit more difficult but not too much.

All is quiet in Turbo land on 3FCs... I guess it's not as popular as it was last year. I'm kinda surprised though because it's such a good fun workout but the buzz has died down.

Today I did Cardio Part II for the first time since last year.

Still can't find an active Beach Body coupon they must have stopped making them available... I'm going to try and trade some DVDs for the ball series instead. I have trouble paying 40 bucks plus whatever outrageous shipping and I don't really need the ball I have one.

I plan on starting a C25K type program too soon as soon as I can get a treadmill and drop maybe another 20lbs. Hows it been going for you so far?

I bought the original set from BeachBody when I had one of those good coupons that no longer seem to exisit! But I have collected/traded for most of the advanced ones too. I'm missing the "Fat Blaster" one from the advanced set. I did find someone to trade me the new ball ones for some other DVDs so I'll have those in a few weeks now woo hoo!

I mostly still am working off the basic set because of my weight. I do mostly cardio party I and II now as I like the aerobic ones better then the sculpting ones. I'm a little nervous to try some of the more advanced ones just yet!

Which ones do you find yourself doing inbetween the running?

You're not missing much with the "diet" plan. I don't follow it myself I do my own thing. It reads sorta like any generic diet in a fitness magazine.

I don't do only turbo jam though I mix it up with walk away the pounds, step aerobics, walking outside briskly (in preparation for learning to run), some other kickboxing type DVDs.

Idealmuse-
I'm only on week 2 of the C25K and it seems to be okay. I'll probably have to repeat a few weeks because I'm so out of shape. I've been checking out the Y schedule lately so I might do the C25K Wed, Fri, and Sun, then try some turbo jam and a class or two at the Y. I use a treadmill for the C25K but many of the other people of the program run outside.

I did Learn and burn. There were some parts, especially during the workout, I couldn't do. So I marched in place. But evidently it worked some because my sides are hurting. Now, I can't say much for my abs cause they were hurting before because yesterday I did my PUSH. I am pretty sure my sides weren't hurting. I'm such a masochist that I want to do Turbo Jam again to feel the lovely side pains so more. :p

Daimere - Know what the first time I popped it in did the Learn to burn and the 20min one I thought I was going to hatttttte it. It took me a few run throughs to get all the moves down, but so glad I stuck with it because they really are some of my favorite DVDs. I did Punch,Kick,Jam today from the advanced set and did about 20mins of rebounding after that. Not bad for a big girl eh?

Stick with it. DOM is good for you it means it's working. Hope you enjoy it once you get the moves down.

Daimere- I'm glad you like it. I would just stick with the learn and burn until you get the moves but it takes awhile for all the videos.
Idealmuse- Wow, that's impressive that you're doing some of the advanced set!

I'm off to do turbo sculpt. My plan is to turbo jam 3 times a week and on Mon, Wed, and Fri to the C25K.

hiya everyone

i'm not staying in US and thus really need much advice from u guys.

I came upon Turbo Jam through you-tube. They have their ads there! hah. Ok, i'm having headache now. There's 2 ways for me to get Turbo Jam at the moment. 1-from beachbody that will costs > USD120+ incld shipping etc, 2- ask my friend to buy and post them to me.

2 ways are freaking me out when i read about this url. i cant post the full url because my post count is less than 10. so pls kindly add the nececssary infor to access the site.
pls add www in front

infomercialscams.com/scams/turbo_jam/start/0

Apparantly, there's lots of complaints frm TurboJam on the same issue. CC being charged for something not supposed to be there. I dont want myself or my friend to get involved in any nightmares.

Does anyone have something to share regarding payment issues? Anyone of u or friends have unhappy events with Beachbody regarding payment issues or delivering issues?

Is it possible to get TurboJam elsewhere besides Ebay and Beachbody? Are we able to find them in retail shops?

I'm very new to Turbo Jam and the website doesnt offer much information on their various workout DVDs. If i'm opting for something thats more of a dance workout, which one is suitable for me? I dont want to jog/run or to keep on jumping vigorously like star-jump. Is there any disc like this that I need to avoid?

Pls kindly advise. Thanks!

Laneige - I think Beachbody has cleaned up their act in the last year or two. I bought my set directly from them and didn't have any issue with being charged more then once. QVC used to sell the set, but I don't think they do anymore but you could check... Ebay or Amazon might be your best bets. If your worried about how BB will charge you make sure if you DO buy it from them to pay in one swoop rather then installments... and I would have them sent to a friend who can forward them to you if BB wants outragrous prices for shipping.

The dancier workouts are the Cardio Party ones... CP1, CP2, CP3 and maybe Punch Kick jam. Three of them are in the beginner set and CP3 is in the advanced set. You can't buy indivdual DVDs so I'd probably start with the beginner ones untless your really fit otherwise they would be hard to follow.

Teacher - Its a matter of preference. I like to do weight work before cardio because you have more energy to put into it, but Turbo Sculpt isn't a heavy lifting program so you'd probably be fine doing it either way.

I did Punch Kick Jam again yesterday... and after that I was on my rebounder for 20mins! Whew! Taking the day off today as I've been at it all week.

Hiya everyone.
Thanks for the earlier comments.

I looked through ebay and i'm really really confused!

I saw from Beachbody website, there's like so many tapes/pics and i thought 59++ is for all of them! like 6-7 DVDs etc. THEN, when i looked at ebay, it seem that

learn and burn, turbo sculpt, 20 minute, cardio party 1, and ab jam is from BeachParty??

Is this right? I'm really very confused and the beachbody site doesnt say much of how they package their products too. They must have snap pics of VHS and DVDs together and I thought thats what one will get (but i thought all are DVDs). If its only 2-3DVDs for that set (with the other cards etc), wow, the shipping charges is very expensive IMO.

I'm from a "tiny red dot country" . :P

Laneige

I "think" i somehow get it. Pls correct me if i'm wrong.

The latest ultimate workout offered by Beachbody is actually from 2 previous DVDs? The Turbo Jam 2 and Turbo Jam 3. All of them are the same? ie Turbo Jam 2+3 = Turbo Jam 5 Workouts.

As for Cardio Party 1,2,3, is it Cardio Party Remix? I dont remember coming upon any more Cardio Party 2 & 3 besides the remix but there's a high chance that i'm wrong. esp when I'm still trying to find my information by constantly surfing the web. Ebay isnt a nice option for me too as most of them dont deliver outside of US.

I really want to start my :carrot: soon and become like this carrot :p

I just purchased TJ Maximum Results off of the beachbody website yesterday. When you are in the checkout they do ask you if you want to purchase extra videos, extra warranty, extra "freebies", which will make the cost add up. I had to double check it to make sure that I wasn't ordering the extra stuff and that I was getting what comes in the maximum results package. I thought about ordering from ebay as well, but I wanted that 5-7 business day shipping! call me greedy but I want to start working out with TJ asap!!! :) Can't wait to start!!

Hi Andi,

Hopefully u can help me with this. When u ordered from Beachbody, do u have any chance of choosing between a full installments or 3 sub payments? i saw from the order page that its not stated but i'm not sure if there's some other things when i clicked 'next or submit'. i read from yr post that there's also some qn asking if user wants to have extra freebies or products. Pls kindly advise. Thanks!

I suggest paying in 1 payment if you go through the payment system it looks like it will only let you do installments, but eventually it gives you the option. I wouldnt add any of the extra things it prompts you for unless you really want them.

There are currently 2 "main" packages available:

The Beginner one called Maximum Results comes with LearnNBurn, TurboSculpt, 20minworkout, cardiopartyI, AbJam, PunchkickJam... plus the other junk gloves and whatnot... this is probably the package you want.

Then there is the advanced set... "Fat Burning Elite" comes with Fatblaster, 3T, and cardiopartyIII and a band. This set used to include punchkickjam... but they put it in the basic set now.

There are 3 add on packages...

- Get on the ball (2Ballworkouts and a ball)
-TurboJam deluxe (CardiopartyII, and lowerbodyjam and a band)
- Turbojam Live (Cardioparty remix, and bootysculptabs)

So there are 5 different "packages" with 5 different prices.

Does that help? For a beginner I suggest the Maximum results package. The first one I listed. Some of the packages have several workouts on the same DVD... they used to have them all seperate so that might be some of your confusion.

Andi18
09-11-2007, 03:24 PM
It does let you chose at the end if you want to do 3 installments or 1 payment. I chose 3 payments as I hate to carry a balance on my credit card! haha It will charge your card right away for the first payment + shipping and handling, then 30 days later it will charge the 2nd payment, then 60 days later the final payment.

From what I read on threads, beachbody is no longer accepting coupon codes as of like 2006 or something. I too was looking for a code but couldn't find one that worked.

Remember when you order it charges not only shipping & handling, but it will also include tax as well. My tax came out to approximately $5 according the website but it said that that amount could change. just looked at my credit card online and so far no charge from beachbody.

Idealmuse
09-11-2007, 03:42 PM
Well thats why the E-bay discs are different because they used to come on separate discs but when I bought the main set it all came on 2 discs in one CDcase. So it depends on how old the set you end up purchasing is. Plus Ebay people might mix up the sets... but what I listed above is what BB currently offers.

BB kinda sucks it looks like it forces you to make payments until the very last second when you check out... or at least this was true last year when I ordered from them... but it should give you a full payment option somewhere at thre very end before you confirm the order.

And no I havent been able to find an active coupon anymore. This is why I ended up trading for the ball ones because i didn't want to pay full price with all that shipping and what-not.

It's a hassle but I think it's worth it because I enjoy them. :) I'm really getting into that PunchKickJam one... it's really challenging for me at my size, but I'm fit enough I can get through it just not at full energy.

oic. My friend is currently busy with her school work and tests. :( Maybe i will have to order from Ebay then. I cant possibly buy directly from BB because they charged me USD60+ for shipping & handling! That's a LOT IMO.

I didnt know that there's tax too.:s:

I was surfing ebay and the qn- How come they can sell the 'set' so cheaply? just pop up.

Finally, I realised that they dont have the free Punch.Kick.Jam DVD thats been thrown into the package by BB. Same for the weight gloves. They are selling them seperately, thus able to mark down the price.

I dont really want big tone up muscles. So i guess i dont need weight gloves. shall do my maths and see which one is the best deal.

Muse- I think it's going good. My main problem is my food habits. I get stressed at work and just grab the junk food. But it's a constant battle for me.
Tomorrow I'll do turbo sculpt and maybe the 20 minute video if I have enough time :) You're really losing the weight what all do you do?

Idealmuse
09-13-2007, 06:09 PM
Yeah I can see why grab and go would be tricky. Can you pack snacks for yourself? What do you teach BTW? If you said earlier I missed it...

I'm not doing anything magical just working hard. I have a lot to lose so it does come off slightly quicker then it does for those who have less to lose... mine will slow down as well as I get closer too.

All I'm doing is exercising 6 days a week (45mins-1.5hours) and trying to keep a calorie deficit going. I normally eat between 1400-1700 depending on how much I worked out. I would said my diet is not too far off from South Beach, but I'm not following any particular plan. Less (moderate) carbs, more protein, more "healthy" fats. Keeping things I had bad control over out of the house... and lot less sugar.

Long road, but it's working so far.

Today I think I'll take a TurboJ. Break and do some Step or Walk Away the pounds i've done T.J. a few days in a row now so i want to rest those muscles.

teacher1
09-13-2007, 09:06 PM
Muse- I teach K-2 special ed. I can pack a healthy lunch but sometimes I just start snacking. But I had a big kick in the butt today. At the grocery store the clerk asked if I was pregnant. I'm not and tried to laugh it off saying I was just chunky. Then she said well you must have kids and I don't have any kids. So needless to say I felt terrible but I'm more determined to get back on track.

Hi! I didn't even know this thread existed until today! I'm a turboaholic! LOL. I'll be sure to hop on this party train! I have every TJ workout except for Chalene's newest one with the stability ball. I don't like the ball, so I didn't bother ordering it. Does anyone have this DVD? I'm wondering if I can get a decent workout without the ball.

To those of you who just ordered TJ, you are going to LOVE it! One of my favorite workouts is from the first set, the 20 min. workout. It rocks! I do that when I don't have much time or I combine it with another workout because I love it so much. It goes by so fast and the music gets me pumped, like all of the workouts do.

My favorite combo is Cardio Party Remix and Booty Sculpt and Abs. The two together make an hour workout. You get your cardio and sculpting done in a FUN way. I love these two workouts combined!

So, can you tell that I'm crazy about Turbo Jam? I'm also active on beachbody's message boards and WOWY as well (that's the virtual gym..work out with you). It keeps me motivated. The boards are awesome too.

Congrats Elegant Departure I hope you love it!

As far as the ball workout... I JUST got it yesterday. I traded some other DVDs to get it since BB doesn't seem to offer coupons anymore. Was hard to get my hands on! Anyway since it just got here I haven't tried it yet. I'm a little hesitant to try it yet, as I only just started doing some of the more advanced tapes such as CPII and PKJ. I haven't yet attempted CPIII. I'm going to look them over this afternoon and decide if I want to tackle it yet. I'll let you know what I think once I do. As far as I heard it wasn't quite like traditional ball workouts one of them is more cardio.

I just traded for Fat Blaster too... so now the only ones I'm missing are the Live ones. I'll pick them up eventually.

I hope they come out with new ones sometimes soon!

I'll be looking for your follow up. If possible, will you let me know how it can be modified without the ball? I'm curious.

The two workouts I mentioned above are two of the live workouts. They're not "live" really, they're done in a fitness room with mirrors instead of a studio. CP3 is a lot of fun. Punch Kick and Jam is great when you want to relieve a lot of stress, particularly if you're angry at someone. lol I love Fat Blaster! I need to take that one off the shelf more often.

Hey everyone!

Turbo Jam is totally addictive!! I just got the new workouts from ebay.ca - Body Ball Blaster and Kickin' Core - awesome workouts!! I've been doing these workouts for over 6 months; however, I was only doing them like 2-3 times a week (if that!). I sit all day at my job, so I wasn't seeing any results. So now I've been checking my diet a bit better (I've always eaten well though) and am trying to do a workout 5-6 times a week... only started 2 wks ago, so I'm hoping more frequent workouts with a slight tweak to my diet (something I can live with) will make the difference I need!

Yeah, I ordered Maximum results, I have to admit i've been flip flopping back and forth about whether or not to buy it. Sometimes i've been broke, and sometimes i've wondered if its worth it. I've decided through reading this thread, checking out the beachbody forums and whatnot that it will be. I've always loved workouts that involve punching and kicks. Andi - No worries a few run throughs and it will start clicking. I didn't pick the moves up right away either and I'm not great with complex moves but I managed to learn them all.

Today I just did the original Cardio Party I and I'm really starting to notice a difference on how my kicks have gotten so much better... Like there is enough muscle behind them now or something.

I'm even starting to switch over to the higher impact sections. Did all the Jump-ropes and Jumping Jax today! :)

Thanks Marie,

I actually lucked out and find one at the store last night, I guess it is the first one with the learn and burn, I just finished and it is soooo much fun! I am going to stick with it for a bit and see if I keep going with it and then I will for sure check out the packages on the site.

I also found a walk away the pound video too, so I am going to give that a shot as well.

They have Turbo Jam in stores now? wow. cool.

I did PKJ last night but I twisted my ankle the night before so i could only do it at like 75 percent effort.

BTW M. When I first did Cardio Party I couldn't really keep up either it doesn't take that long for you to catch up progress wise.

Ouch Marie! Seriously you'll get better give it time. For example look at my weight... thats a lot to haul around and do turb right? I was about 280-85 when I started. I had trouble keeping up at first, and now I just finished Cardio Party 3 for the first time. When I tried it last year I in no way could keep up and stopped in the first segment. Today I kicked my last years fitness ***! I'm so pleased with how far I've come and and how fit I feel even for someone who qualifies as "morbidly obese"

3 was quite a workout but I'm so psyched that I got through it perfectly fine.

I'm STILL waiting for mine in the mail. I'd received an email last week saying I could expect it by this week. No such luck. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for it to arrive on monday. I ordered the Maximum Results package, and i'm pretty excited for it to come and join you guys!

Laneige It's fairly small but I don't remember the size of the box. Mine was 2 DVDs in one case and the booklet basically. The package comes with an extra DVD now, so It might be 2 DVD cases? Not sure but my best guess would be 12inches wide by 3 or 4 inches tall by 8 inches wide?

Total Guess though.

Well today was day two of Learn and Burn. I've found it pretty easy to follow so i'm looking forward to doing the 20 minute work out the next two days. I'd love to jump right into the cardio party but I figure i'll wait it out and follow the beginners schedule provided in the guidebook. I have decided to add an extra workout on saturdays though, with only saturdays as my day of rest. I just am getting over a cold so I had to start this week yesterday, but that works out okay if i just do the four workouts provided this week.
I'm excited to try each workout provided, and won't be using the gloves until I've given each a try.

Today I did punch, kick & jam for the 1st time. I ordered the gloves off ebay. Does everyone use the tubing also?

Hi! I haven't been here in a while, but was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for how to figure out what workouts to do on what day. I know there is a thread on here that has a plan for the videos, but I don't have half of them in the plan.

I have (don't want to include learn and burn):

20 Minute,
Turbo Sculpt
Cardio Party
Ab Jam
Cardio Party Mix 2
Lower Body Jam

I was thinking one or the other of the cardio DVD's on 3 days (like I have seen suggested somewhere) and then figure a combination of the rest for 3 days, and Sunday is my rest day except for my daily walk.

TIA!

I love love love Turbo Jam! I reached my goal weight today so i'm using turbo jam for maintenance and also to start the toning/strengthening process. I may be at my goal weight but I have alot of tightening to do and I"m hoping that Chalene helps me get there. I love these videos so much, it's the first set of fitness videos i've bought that I don't regret purchasing!

Hi! I'm new around here, but have been using TJ (off and on) since the spring. I'm trying to be more consistent about using the DVDs. Winter where I am is pretty harsh and it's one of my only ways for cardio. I do really like the videos, but they can be slightly boring after a while. But NO excuses!

I'm aiming for 6 days a week of at least 30 minutes a day, working up to full cardio videos.

Glad to meet you!

Hi Jen,
Do you use the weighted gloves during your workouts? I just got my gloves off ebay.

JenMusic
11-03-2007, 10:07 PM
I don't have the gloves - I wish I did, but they didn't come with the package when I got it last year, and now they're a little hard to get (I live in China right now). I do use the tubing and stretchy band for the workouts that those come with - 3T and Lower Body, I think?

I saw that you just got the gloves. What do you think?

Hello everyone! Mind if I join you? I just bought Turbo Jam Maximum Results and I can not wait until it comes! Currently I only have the Biggest Loser DVD's. I like them both but after a while they are getting kind of boring. Since I like the kickboxing stuff on these DVD's, I am thinking that I will enjoy TJ. Hope so!!

Welcome Hungry Mom!!!
Jen- I do like the gloves. I don't have the tubing or bands but I used them at the gym and love them. What are you doing all the way in China? :)

Hello, HungryMom! I've just joined, too, and this whole forum is a very encouraging place.

Teacher, I've been living in China for almost 4 years, teaching ESL at a university here. I came for a couple of years, just to see another culture and get some life experience, and have ended up falling in love with both China and ESL. I taught elementary music in the States but since I've been here I've started (and am in my last semester!) of an MA-TESOL program. What do you teach?

As for TJ, today I'm going to do a Cardio Party, probably #2. I don't know why, but I think that one may be my favorite. Sometimes it's a bit long, both for time and for my energy, but I'm working on it! :)

Well, I tried it for the first time today. I did the Learn and Burn and the 20 min workout. I felt like I was flopping around like a fish through parts of it. How long did it take you all to be able to do all of the moves correctly ??

Today wasn't the most fun just because I got frustrated that I couldn't seem to keep track of what the heck she was doing!! I am not very dancy or very coordinated so it may take me a few times to pull it all together!!

Also, it doesn't feel like I worked out as hard as some of the other workouts that I do. I am probably not doing it all correctly so that may be it. Usually, like after the Biggest Loser workouts I am out of breath and dripping with sweat-(Sorry kind of graphic there)-but I wasn't after these. I did sweat some but it just doesn't feel like I worked as hard.

I will stop my rambling now. I am going to try another one tomorrow-hopefully it goes better!! I am sure that it will be fun one of these days!!

Thanks for listening!!! :) Happy Jamming Ladies!
-Becky

Hungry Mom,
I found the learn and burn kind of boring. I think the other workouts will make you sweat. I always find even if I'm a step off it's still a good workout. I think you'll get it the more you do it. Good luck :)

Hello all!
Hope you don't mind having another newbie around! I'm a 30 year old student from Montreal. I have approximately 30 pounds to lose. But honnestly, I'd be thrilled to lose 20. I'm a new Turbo girl since November 5th. I have just started my second week of the Advanced Rip you up rotation. Ouch!!!!!!! My husband said he had never seen me so motivated by a workout before. He's right; I'm on fire! I work out with the gloves and after 10 minutes, I'm already sweating like crazy.

My favorite workout is kick punch and jam . It reminds me how out of shape I am right now.

I have ordered the Lower body jam, the cardio party 2 and the cardio party remix on ebay and I can't wait to receive them. Checking my mailbox everyday and coming back disapointed.

I'd like to know how often you do the turbo jam workouts. The Advanced RYU rotation includes 6 days a week (sometimes 2 workouts a day). But I was just wondering if people have had great results by working out less often.

I gotta go.. I need to "push play".
