I gotta say, the muscles in my legs are killing me- but I guess that is a good thing. Also, I cannot seem to get one of the steps. I guess my coordination is not all the way there! I have never done Turbo Jam...My mom got it and never really got into it and she said Turbo Jam was kinda complicated as far as moves go. Which I guess I could see if she was comparing it to Slim in Six (The moves are pretty straight laced and non-fancy). Just thinking of trying Turbo Jam. Bear 03-24-2009, 06:50 PM Is anyone here still doing this workout? I got turbo jam last week and I'm loving it! I only have the five workouts on the 2 disk set so far, but I just ordered fat blaster and I'm really excited for it. Cause honestly I despise Cardio Party 1. I don't like squats and I can't do many kicks in my small area, and there's a whole like ten minutes on just that, so it makes it hard to do it. So I'm looking forward to rotating the 20 minute, fat blaster, and ab jam for cardio. Well hopefully the fat blaster doesn't have too many kicks lol. Anyway, yea. I haven't even had time to update my profile but I have a question that needs answering first. I procured my Turbo Jam DVDs from a friend and I don't have the manual. How do I alternate the workouts? I bought Power 90 about 4 years ago and still love it. I know with that program you alternate sweat and sculpt every other day and take the 6th day off. I'm assuming it's similar? If someone could point me to the right direction I would appreciate it! Thanks! NotaFatBride 03-27-2009, 10:30 PM Okay so I am on day 5 of my Turbo Jame workout. The Turbo Sculpt kills my knees. I found that when she does the pulse (sort of bounce in squat or lunge) that move is the knee pain maker. I did it tonight without pulsing and the knees feel SO much better! I'm alternating Power 90 one week and Turbo Jam another week. Tomorrow I'm Fat Blasting, taking Sunday off then back to Power 90. I've been doing Power 90 and the treadmill at home for about a month and half. I've lost 5 pounds on the scale BUT about 15 inches!!! Though I have no idea what that entails lol! sweetchic82 03-30-2009, 08:50 AM I am thinking of starting a Turbo Jam Accountabilty Challenge for April 2009; The rules are easy we are all just going to do this for a period of 2 weeks a)Starting 1 April to 14 April b)Everyday we just list down any form of Turbo Jam exercise done! c)The rules are simple, just do any form of TJ exercise be it just the 15 MINS TJ Burn or the 40 Mins Cardio Party 3 (just have to move everyday hehhehe) d)The aim is to do some form of Turbo Jam exercise per day for the 2 weeks (some people like me do my cardio on Mon then alternate with weights on tuesday etc) But there is no pressure this is your own personal exercise routine,you modify to your needs and wants. e)Challenge takers may take measurements for eg weight at start + measurement in inches(But this can be for our personal view as some people including me are shy still to tell everyone my weight hehehh) or we can share our weight or inches loss later heheheh Thats about it :D Feel free to add on! Thanks for laying it out. Can I ask why we're only doing the challenge for 2 weeks though? I'm not sure if you have ever run into this problem, but I tend to gain weight in the first week of a new program but then lose considerably in the following weeks. Let me know if you'd be open to extending it for the full month. Thanks again - very excited about this! As sometimes i cannot do all the exercises on time, im going to have my period soon hehhe. We can do it for 2 weeks then rest for ppl who want then continue until the rest of the month. So basically we can list down all the TJ exercise we will be doing everyday ; do if u want we can have a 30 day challenge :D. I'm new to this forum but am a huge turbo jam fan. I work out 5-6x a week, 5-6 days cardio (Cardio Parties 1-3, Punch Kick and Jam, Fat Blaster, occasionally Tae Bo), and 3 of those days with strength training (Turbo Sculpt most of the time, occasionally Richard Simmons Blast N Tone). I was wondering if anyone had tried 3T-Totally Tubular Turbo. I bought it recently to mix up with Turbo Sculpt. At the end of the DVD, there is some floor ab work. I had serious pain trying to do these moves, as I was putting all of my weight onto my hip and tail bones. Am I missing some crucial form information? My abs were burning where they were supposed to, so I know I am doing the move itself correctly. Charlene will even tell you as long as you are moving you are working out. Tally, personally I weigh in at least 3 times a week....for sure every Monday and Saturday and then usually once between those days. We could all weigh in on Mondays...I like doing Monday's because *Personally* weekends are my downfall!! So Monday's keep me accountable. So I'm going to start a thread entitled June Turbo Challenge. Our goal is to do Turbo 20 times in June. We can check in and add the workout we did each time. If you do other dvd's or workouts you can add those too...Weigh in every Monday, unless ya'll want a different day. And for me, I'm going to make a goal unrelated to working out. ie Drinking a gallon of water a day, or washing my face at night (I always fall asleep before I wash my face). I got the TJ videos like 6 months ago, did them a few times, then slacked again, now I am trying to get back into the groove. I printed out an exercise sheet to write it down each day, trying to have small goals so I don't fail..I did the cardio party 2 last night, now my left side lower back hurts..I think I did something wrong or just not how my body could handle it...its sad, my hubby is 5'8", only weighs like 150, but is very strong, he has a nice set of abs, his midsection is smaller than mine, lol..his waist is like 33 inches, mine is 34.5...lol...good luck everyone keeping this up:) huskymini 06-12-2009, 04:15 PM Hi all, Some may remember me from 2 months ago... Reason I haven't been on here is because my back is shot. Just read a post by TaraAllison and I hope you are being careful. I've spent countless hours in physio, acupuncture, and am now prospecting surgery. I'm 29 and I have to go in for back surgery - great hey?!? The only exercise I am able to do now is walking (more like limping) when my leg isn't numb. My only advice for every TJ user now is make sure your body is up to the challenge. Everything seems fine until you do one too many twists and then you're paying dearly. Besides seeing a chiropractor on a regular basis (I also did Physical Therapy for a while but after a year, the exercises stopped working). I have found that strengthening my core and lower back muscles have made a huge difference in how my back functions on a daily basis. This is not to say that I don't have issues but I am a ton better overall. To strenthen my lower back and core (there are also exercises for knees, and shoulders) I use a DVD called Total Body Solution. I was worried at first that Chalene's personality would be a turn off to me but its actually so appealing. She's so positive as she leads the videos its hard not to get drawn in by that energy. My favorite video has got the be Turbo Sculpt. There is something really satisfying about lifting weights. I get frustrated doing the Cardio parties because I'm not a dancer (or that coordinated to begin with) and feel like I'm flailing about during some sections, but I still love them! Any one else have problems with the kicking? I'm still not sure I'm doing it right and there isn't a kicking section in the Learn portion of Learn and Burn. In February of this year I weighed in at 183. On the 19th of February, I grabbed my Turbo Jams off the shelf, and started working out. In March I added ChaLean Extreme to my Turbo Jams. I now weigh in at 135. My caloric intake was based on several factors: 1 - My Resting Metabolic Rate, which I had tested at a facility. Your resting metabolic rate is basically the calories your body burns everyday while it is at rest. 2 - My lifestyle and activities rate, or the number of calories that you burn doing everyday activities such as work or chores etc. 3 - Exercise rate, or the calories I burn doing my exercising. Now that I have determined the particular amount of calories I burn daily, I need to determine what to eat. We know that you need a 3500 calorie deficit to lose a pound, but we also know you don't want to starve yourself of 3500 calories, but rather divide the deficit between calorie reduction, and increased movement. So let's say your goal is to lose 2 pounds per week. You need a 7000 calorie reduction in your week to achieve this goal. Stay with me here :) Let's say my RMR is 1400 calories per day, my Lifestyle calories are 400 and my exercise calories are 600. I burn 2400 calories per day. I know I need to burn more calories than I eat so in order to achieve my 7000 calorie deficit in the week, I want to divide the deficit between 7 days, or 1000 calorie deficit per day. What can I do to achieve this 1000 per day? I can ingest 1000 less calories perday from food. So 1400 calorie per day intake. Well... I am working out pretty hard, and I need to eat... so that may be too low for me. Maybe I'll do that twice this week on a lighter workout days. I can increase my workout intensity from 600 calories to 800 calories (easy doing Turbo Jam), then I can eat 1600 calories on those days. I actually dropped 3.2 pounds, could be water, fat, increased lean mass... who knows. Calorie wise - I was at my 2 pound goal. I have a Body Bugg which is a HUGE aid in keeping you on point. From February to now I went from 183 to 135. A size 14/16 to a size 4/6. The point I hope I am making is that EVERYONE is different. Your RMR will be different from mine. Your exercise expenditure will be different from mine. You have to find out what YOUR balance is, so you can create your deficit. The only thing that is the same between everyone here is that we ALL need to stay in a deficit to lose, or at an even amount to maintain. If the calories in are higher than your expenditure... you will gain. Hope this helps. Now... as for not seeing results. You need to create a "surprise" for your body. The body can adapt easily to any exercise. First... a month isn't a fair test to what you may experience down the road. The reason programs like ChaLean Extreme and P90X are so successful is that they create muscle confusion. As soon as your body starts to adapt to a particular exercise... they change it up. Turbo Jam is highly effective because you use your core for every move. Make sure you are incorporating some weight training in your workout schedule each week, and give your body at least one rest day to recover. I have heard nothing but positive reviews about the program. I have found lots of before and after shots of people who used turbo jam. I started out at 154 pounds about 8 months ago and have been up and down but my current weight is 136 pounds. I have about 11 pounds to lose to get to my goal and truly believe this is the program for me. I used to take kickboxing two times a week and the classes were canceled but I really loved kickboxing! During one of the sections where she has you do a lot of 'jab cross jab knee' my hip starts to make a popping sound and then...OUCH! I finished the dvd but I modified all of my knee lifts after that. My hip has bothered me since. I decided to give turbo jam a break, and do some other exercises that didn't include a lot of knee lift moves. I do feel like it's getting better, but I'm worried that if I go back to turbo jam too soon it will start getting worse again. Maybe it just needs more time to get completely better? Yesterday I tried the Fat Burner and I love it! Ok, I was so clumsy doing it, but I think it's because I'm just starting. I think I did about 85% of the exercises... she moves too fast! But I sweated a lot and my face was so red! :) I felt pretty good about myself. ;) Today I did the Fat Burner and the AB Jam. The AB Jam is fantastic and I have never seen abs workout like that. I think I'm gonna stick with the routine of Fat Burner and AB Jam for a couple of weeks. Then I'm gonna introduce the Cardio Party and the other Turbo Jams. My main goal now it's to lose weight. I'm not concerned with muscles or toning. Not now at least. I'm weighting 171lb and I wanna get down to 130. I think I can do it. :dizzy: Sorry if I misspelled anything... Last sunday I was barely finishing the Fat Blaster (had to stop 2 times)... the next day had to stop for a bit on the 20 minutes workout and tuesday I had to stop 5 times during the Cardio Party! Yesterday I did the Fat Blaster again and did it ok, not stopping once and I was so happy that I did the AB Jam right after! :D Today I did the Turbo Sculpt with the 3lb dumbbells and also I did not stop. And then I did the 20 min workout and did not stop once! OMG, in less than a week I've improved so much my endurance!!! I'm so proud of myself!! Turbo Jam is really amazing! I'm still not seeing real difference in my body (like if I'm getting thinner or not), but I know that the changes are coming. Beginning this week, I'm doing at least 45 minutes of exercise (that's the Cardio Party 1). I tend to combine routines, like the Fat Blaster with the AB Jam and the Turbo Sculpt and the 20 min workout. It's working fine and I'm handling pretty well. I did not make significant changes to my diet, but I'm counting calories and staying on my daily limit. I feel thin, I feel strong, but I still don't see thin. On the coming week I'm taking a photo and comparing with the picture I took when I started Turbo Jam. I'm glad to have you girls as my support. I did the videos everyday, but didn't keep up with the food part. I lost about 18 lbs and was feeling great!! Anyway... those 18 lbs came back on and I want to start over. I found all of my videos, but can't find my rapid results booklet. I had copied the menus so I have that. All I told her was that I was exhausted and it turned into the 20 email conversation that I did not expect to have. Ugg! I got lost on some parts and I thought that since I am pretty good with the 20 min that I would have no problems. Yea right... I think everyone, including myself, should take it easy and it will get easier. elNuevo - I actually have to take it easy, do low impact and think "tuck, tuck, tuck, tuck" throughout the workout. Sometimes I'm good with my tuck, a lot of the time I forget about it, especially during the "shake and shed" & "the pump". I always think that moving is just the most important thing, especially when starting turbo jam. Also Charlene always says don't think so heavily about it, just move and have fun. SweetSteph 06-10-2011, 05:36 AM Hi y'all!! I am starting TurboJam for the first time today... Beginning with the 10-day kickstart.... I have heard it is best to start with TurboJam before moving to TurboFire to get acclamated to the moves first. After the first 10 days I may move to TurboFire or stick with TurboJam a bit longer. I am trying to tweak the diet as I don't enjoy a lot of the foods on the 10-day program diet. Finding foods I like in a diet is most challenging for me along with constantly being on the go and making time to make good choices. Any suggestions in regard to the workouts or the diet? Weight loss for me is mostly cardio exercise. Dieting does pretty much nothing. I hoping that this will be a fun way to shed some pounds. M3K, A lot of times when people start doing Turbo Jam they feel somewhat uncoordinated at first. I felt like a complete clutz for about a week. Now I totally love it. I just started doing a mix of Chalean Extreme & Turbo Jam and am hoping the combo will be just what I need. I'm sure you will enjoy the program! LOL I LOVED the workouts, I need excitment and good music to workout, to take my mind off what I'm doing really. Going to the gym never worked for me unless it was a fun class. Well I'm getting bored with my Wii Fitness Coach (the music sucks) and I'm ready to move on, ordered Turbo Jam off ebay today, can't wait to get started again! Awesome, i love it. :) InsideMe 08-09-2011, 08:58 AM So I'm hooked! Did the fat blaster all last week and yesterday I did cardio party 2....wow did that kick my butt! I'm sore this morning. Today I'm going to do the fat blaster then some pushups and strength training. I am determined to do it 3-4 times a week, as I really enjoy it. Yesterday I did the DVD after I haven't done it in about a month, and at the end of the video, I was surprised it was over.
