:welcome2:

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone to join us in our journey.
We share laughter and tears .
We share what works for us and what doesn't.
We often use a "Topic of the Day" for discussion.

Motivational Monday
Tuesday Tips
Wednesday Wish List .. and What you are doing to obtain it.
Thankful Thursday
FUN Friday ... don't wait until you lose your weight.
Sit-up Saturdays - any physical activity
Share your Success Sunday

These are not required topics ...just ideas to share. We often find them very helpful. We also share heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations.

We have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, and more. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group...
we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

WELCOME!

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for the Amazon "store" in the upper right hand corner of the screen on the PURPLE tool bar. A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's like $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!!!

ok....i can't seem to stay off here today! let me first say, i just posted my exercise minutes and was amazed at the number of minutes i did this week. i'm not trying to brag, but i haven't worked out like that in years! i know i couldn't have done it if i hadn't have found this site and had all you wonderful women to be accountable too. you may not know it, but you all help me get through the day and get in my exercise. i'm always telling myself i can post or read if i exercise or stay out of the candy at work or whatever. so, thanks to everyone on here!! you're all an inspiration to me!!!:grouphug:

by the way, i forgot to say earlier that rich and i went to the theater last night (which was great!) and i had a surprising nsv. i had put on pants that were tight and was upset that they didn't fit better, but as we were running behind, i wore them anyway. well, i was all upset about the pants and out of breath from hurrying up the stairs to our seats and i sat down expecting to be uncomfortable for two hours cuz my rear is always too big for the seats. but, what?!?, i fit in the seat comfortably! it was great! i haven't taken measurements for awhile, but all that WATP and water aerobics must be doing something! i forgot all about the stairs and my pants and whispered to rich "hey! i fit in my seat!!" it was great!

katt--your dogs are so cute!! i'll have to put a picture of ours on sometime. they're just like family, aren't they? and i saw ammi said something about lambs--pics please! i always wanted some, but my parents said no. i had to make do with taking care of our neighbors' when they were out of town. i loved them!

misti--way to go on 70 pounds down! that is fantastic!

xena--i'm so jealous of your weather--sounds great! i think 5 pound goals sound fine. it all counts! so long as the numbers go down, that's all i worry about! you can do it!!

sharon--i hope that you listen to ammi and get stern with your doctor. there could be all sorts of stuff going on that he is ignoring. can you find another doctor? definitely don't give up and don't let him get away with not listening!

thanks for the nice comments on our wedding pictures. and sadly, no, that is not my natural color. gotta cover up those grays! :( i use clairol nice and easy #118a, color natural medium neutral brown. whatever happened to just plain brown? :lol:

ammi--don't worry about eating out. we're all entitled to a day like that. we know what we should do, but sometimes taking care of yourself means doing what makes you feel better, not always what you should do. anyway, like everyone says, tomorrow is another day! and yep, i'll try to resize the pictures the post them again. this computer stuff----argh! it's so frustrating to me! i've got emailing and shopping down, but anything else.....no way! :)

ok--took a nap this afternoon with our doggy (she had to get a shot this morning that made her sleepy) and didn't do anything around the house, so i'd better go start some laundry. lori

Lori I am as bad as you :lol: I can't drag myself away from here. I have been supposedly going to bed for the last 3 hours, yet here I am still and it's now 1.30 in the morning. Woops :dizzy:

:congrat: on the wonderful NSV of fitting comfortably into the theatre seats. That is one of the best NSVs there is. When I met Sharon last month we met at a place where in the past I have had to squeeze painfully into the seats. I was thrilled to find that I can now fit into the seats and have a bit of spare room too. I would have done a happy dance had the place not been full :lol:

Thanks for your kind words about my bad eating earlier. I have had some lovely comments from others too and I am happy to say that when I do go to sleep in a minute I will be going to sleep much happier and not feeling ashamed of myself anymore. You are so right about how wonderful everybody is here, where would we be without each other :grouphug:

I am glad you are going to resize those photos. If you want you can email the full size ones to me and I can resize them for you if it's easier. Just PM me if you want my address.

Rayne - I am really sorry to hear about your dad, how awful for him to be in pain all the time. Back pain is the pits, it's so debilitating and I think today I was so moody because I was so frustrated about it even being too painful to even get up to go to the toilet. I had chores to do which Daren had to do and although he didnt mind I still wish I was able to do them. How did your dad break his back, if you don't mind me asking? Does he need a wheel chair now?

Thanks for your supportive comments and the hug. My back is getting better all the time, one more day and hopefully I can start doing things again. I also hope I will sleep well and get up in a much better frame of mind :D

Hope you enjoyed the two films you watched tonight, they are two great films aren't they!

That's great that your fiance is so supportive of your weight loss efforts, but I hope his high expectations won't make you feel too pushed when you work out together. You will have to tell him to ease up because gym work is hard enough without feeling like you have to do more than you are ready for.

Patti - thanks, I think you are right that free days can be a good thing. I just worry that I have had too many lately. I have to be good now until my anniversary because I know we are going out for a meal that night and I will enjoy the treat even more if I have been 100% OP until then :yes:

Ok well now I honestly am going to get some sleep. Take care all and bye until tomorrow :wave:

Hugs,

Ammi :grouphug:

Just wanted to post something I found when I was searching for Christmas poems to display in the classroom.

I Learned All About Life From a Snowman...

~ It's okay if you're a little bottom heavy.

~ Hold your ground, even when the heat is on.

~ Wearing white is always appropriate.

~ Winter is the best of the four seasons.

~ It takes a few extra rolls to make a good midsection.

~ There's nothing better than a foul weather friend.

~ The key to life is to be a jolly, happy soul.

~ We're all made up of mostly water.

~ You know you've made it when they write a song about you.

~ Accessorize! Accessorize! Accessorize!

~ Don't get too much sun.

~ It's embarrassing when you can't look down and see your feet.

~ It's fun to hang out in your front yard.

~ Always put your best foot forward.

~ There's no stopping you once you're on a roll.

~~~~
I thought these were SO cute. I've never built a snowman, but it is nice to know that we would have so much in common.
Have a lovely day/evening everyone!
Here's another one. I CERTAINLY need a Santa like this one!
~~~~

If I Were Santa

If I were ol' Santa, you know what I'd do?
I'd omit silly gifts that are given to you.
And deliver some things just inside your front door.
Things you have lost, but treasured before.
I'd give you back all your maidenly vigor,
and to go along with it, a neat tiny figure.

Then restore the old color that once graced your hair,
before rinses and bleaches took residence there. I'd
bring back the shape with which you were gifted,
so things now suspended need not be uplifted.
I'd draw in your tummy and smooth down your back,
'til you'd be a dream in those tight-fitting slacks.

I'd remove all your wrinkles and leave only one chin,
so you wouldn't spend hours rubbing grease on your skin.
You'd never have flashes or queer dizzy spells, and
you wouldn't hear noises like ringing of bells.
No sore aching feet and no corns on your toes
no searching for spectacles when they're right on your nose.

Not a shot would you take in your arm, hip or fanny from a
doctor who thinks you're a nervous old granny.
You'd never have a headache, so no pills would you take.
And no heating pad needed, since your muscles won't ache.

Yes, if I were Santa, you'd never look stupid.
You'd be a cute little chick with the romance of a cupid.
I'd give a lift to your heart when those wolves start to whistle,
and the joys of your heart would be light as a thistle.

But alas! I'm not Santa...I'm simply just me,
the matronest of matrons you ever did see.
I wish I could tell you all the symptoms I've got,
but I'm due at my doctor's for an estrogen shot.
Even though we've grown older this wish is sincere:
Hope you had a good Christmas and a Happy New Year!

~~~~
We can all dream huh?
Well it is only 5:55 PM for me here so I guess I am not on so late as many of you. :) But it is neat to see so many doing well on the exercise. I have done well today too. We are all going to be mere shadows of our former selves! :ebike:
I know what you mean too about fitting into the seats. I love to sit in booths in restaurants now --- but I still don't "see" myself as being small enough. Last night my friend and I went to a restaurant and I asked for a booth. While we were waiting I was eyeing them and wondering to my friend if I could fit into them, should have asked for a table, etc. He said "you sat in them last time we were here a few weeks ago." :) I tend to forget which places I sat where, etc. He was right... I fit easily into it.
I said... as I often do to him... "I like to do this just because I can" -- so after we were seated and I was giving him a hard time for messing up the bread loaf he said "I did it just because I can." :) Note this is all in fun; we like to give each other a hard time with good humor. :)
Wishing all of you a blessed night's sleep and happy Sunday! Stay OP!
Ammi -- Awww!! Thanks for your sweet words!! You know, I wonder sometimes if after I retire I could do some kind of weight loss counseling. My background is in psychology (not clinical) and I find sometimes that I can apply the things I learn to weight loss.
wezi -- isn't this place the best! I know I started the exercise threads, but it was because I HATED to exercise and could never get myself to do it. I started tracking my minutes and about a year ago Valerie (NoLifeWithoutHorses) asked if she could join and the exercise thread was born! I can't speak for anyone else, but it has been SO helpful to me. And I love feeling like I'm contributing to our group goals!
zelma--love the santa poem! especially the line about "cute little chick"! :)
ammi--thanks for offering to resize the pictures for me--that is so sweet of you! i gave it a try and they are bigger. i didn't want to make them too big since i posted a book! :lol:
we are two peas in a pod cuz when i wrote before i said i was off to do laundry, but the pile is still on the floor and nothing has made it to the washer yet! i just can't seem to leave today! hope you get some good rest in and have a great day tomorrow! btw, i was looking at pictures on the other thread, and i have to say that you are looking great! i can see such a big difference from the first pictures to the latest--must be all the time on the gazelle! i'm going to have to seriously consider getting one if that's the result!
wyllen--i love the exercise thread! it's a huge reason why i did so well this week! it was a great idea you had--thanks, it really helps!
anyway--i'm finally really leaving! see everyone tomorrow! lori
Ok Since you asked Ammi....My husband and I first met on MSN Chat in March of 2000, we started talking and it turned out he knew the area of Missouri and the town i lived in. He had actually been in the area the year befor covering for a store manager for the company he works for and we had met then, but at that time i was married to my first husband...(bad situation there)....well anyway, after we started talking, i went to that store manager and asked her about him and she knew exactly who i was talking about, and she said to me that she'd known him for at least 6 years and he was one of the nicest people in the world to meet. So after about 6 weeks of talking online and on the phone, he made a surprise trip down here to see me. Talk about shocked! after that he would make trips down to see me every 2 weeks....eventually he moved down to Missouri from Illinois and transferred with the company....and in december of 2000 he and I moved back to Illinois together, where in February he asked me to marry him and we married in May of 2001....I tease him all the time and tell him that if the Manager he had covered for didn't tell how great a guy he was...i'd probably had dumped him :) We've been married about 5 1/2 years now...and I have never been happier!
Hope everyone is having a good weekend! It is so cool to see how fast the threads are moving;i appreciate everyone here and love reading how everyone is doing!
AMMI: I'm sorry to hear your having problems with your back and with depression. I tend to feel depressed mainly in the winter months, i think its called S.A.D.(seasonal affective disorder) every year, i go through this "funk" in the winter months. I certainly know how you feel, and hope you are feeling better soon!
MECHELLE: Hope your trip is fun:)
XENA: I totally agree on breaking wt loss into 5lb increments: that is certainly more doable for me, at least i wouldnt get so discouraged with myself
KATT: the dogs are so cute:) When did you say you start your new job?
SANDYBAR: Sorry to hear about your sad moods:( as i mentioned above, i can totally relate. hope you feel better, real soon:)
RAYNE: That is so cool your boyfriend is going to be your excersise partner. having a partner in excersise makes it easier,congratulations on getting your house cleaned, will you come do mine:)
WYLLEN: Your advice was priceless! you are so right, im not setting records for fast wt loss, im just trying to become healthy and thinner in a way that will have lasting results. thanks for making me think!
TOOFATFORU: i have the opinion, too, that sometimes we need a cheat or free day while watching our wt. Sometimes for me, being too strict foodwise leads me to over indulge in things i dont need:(
WEZI: You look beautiful in your wedding pix! I love your dress and hair:)
MISTI: You are really inspiring me to purchase a Gazelle, maybe that is the one excersise machine that wont be a clothes/junk colllector for me:)
VOODOO: :hug: Hers a hug for you. i hope you are reading this and know that many people are thinking of you.
ZELMA: the poems were soooooooo cute:) thanks for sharing. i hope you are doing well this weekend.
VILLANDRA: Great job on the excersise, i need your motivation this month:)
EVERYONE: Have a great weekend:)
As for me, i am so happy im off tommorrow:) This week has been super busy for me and i am looking forward to having some free time. Food was good for me today, exersise, well not enough. i am really hoping to pick that up this week. I haope everyone has a good night and rest of weekend. I truly appreciate you all, and the support you give:)
Hello all ... I am getting ready to go to bed but wanted to check in on the boards real quick. :D
Ammi ~ My dad broke his back several years ago at work. He was an electrician/construction worker and he fell off a ladder while working on stadium lighting in wash, d.c. He crushed 4 vertebrae, slipped both discs and was confined to a bed for months. His back has gotten worse over the years. Then he started having trouble with the circulation in one leg. Found out he had to have an artery replaced in one leg because when his vertebrae's got crushed, it constricted the blood flow to his right leg. He is not in a wheelchair yet but has been told it is inevitable at some point. So, I feel for anyone who has back pain because I know how painful it can be, mentally and physically. As far as the workout buddy goes .. we will see how it goes tomorrow. :dizzy:
Oh, and the movies were GREAT! Especially the "Wizard of Oz" .. that is such a classic! I watch it each and everytime it is on.
Futurediva ~ I agree, I am glad my fiance is so supportive. It does help to have a workout buddy. I know with him helping me, he will make sure that I get my exercises in each day. But I am worried about how "pushy" he will be towards me. Maybe that is what I need, to keep me motivated. But sometimes it only makes me want to give up even more. I know his heart is in the right place, so maybe it won't be so bad. And, I am so glad I was able to get my housework done. It's a good feeling when everything is neat and clean but ... I barely like doing housework in my own house .. so I don't think I'll be cleaning anyone elses either! LOL I shouldn't let mine go as long as I do... then maybe it wouldnt be SUCH a chore when I do have to clean it!!! :D
Does anyone know a good site I can join to keep track of my calories, etc? I am not one for handwriting things out .. but I need to keep track of my calories,etc.
Have a Great Night Everybody!
Wow, these threads have started moving so fast. I missed two or three O.O in one day! That's crazy!! :fr:
Andie - Thanks :) My mom is doing fine, came through the surgery with no problems at all. It is definitely a big motivator when I know the doctor has been telling her this was going to happen for years. She was in denial, like I have been in the past, but seeing the cold truth of it really is an eye opener.
Mechelle - My husband is too tall to fit on planes either - he's 6'6 and always says it makes him feel like his knees are right under his chin :lol: Airlines only care about the maximum people they can shove in a plane, not comfort - you're definitely right on that one. Good luck at the conference. I worry too about people staring at me, but I was told once that if you catch someone looking at you, it's way more likely they are wondering what YOU are thinking of THEM than the other way round :) Just think positive! Everyone worries about being judged.
Kayley - eating better is definitely a victory in and of itself!! It'll mean you'll be healthier no matter what the scale says :)
Wezi and Ammi and Zelma and Katt (and anyone I missed that internet met their loved ones!) - My husband and I met on the internet as well :D We were actually both dating other people when we met online (it wasn't a dating site, just a bulletin board/chat site!) and I thought we were just going to end up being friends... but he and the girl he was with broke up about a month after I'd met him online and I called him to console him and.. jeeze we ended up talking for about ten or twelve hours on the phone!!! That was in January of 2001, we ended up engaged by July and married in November of that year. And Ammi, the first time we met it was due to him showing up as a surprise, totally univited LOL. It did freak me out a little, I had some news and had been trying to call him all day, couldn't figure out where he was, then I got a call saying he was down the street and couldn't find my house... crazy! It'll be five years in just a couple of weeks now that we've been married! It's great to hear about other couples who have met the same way, everyone kind of looks at us like freaks when they hear how we met.
And Kayley, not all people on the net are good, that's for sure. I met several people from the computer before I met my husband and most were single dates that went very, very badly LOL. There are probably significantly more freaks on the net than you'll meet randomly, the trick is just to do your best to weed them out, not that you always can as I've found out the hard way.
Luan - I am so sorry that things have been so rough lately. Your mother sounds like a real burden in your life, I'm sorry she's made things so difficult for you. :hug:
Misti - WOW!! Great job on the loss!! That's so amazing, congrats! :bravo:
Xena - For the cleaning, have you tried the Flylady system? I know a lot of people think it's cheesy but her program can really really work too, and is super easy. And yes, five pounds will add up :) When I first came here Misti told me what someone else told her; that you may not be able to face losing 100 pounds, but you can face losing 10 pounds, ten times. It's very true, the little goals really add up.
Sandy - Ohhh how I hate locking the keys in the car. I did that so many times when I was driving that I always had a spare car key in my wallet. Not just my purse, in case I ran to the atm with just my wallet and the car running and locked the door (not that I've ever done that.... hehehe) I kept it in the change compartment. It sounds like your daughter is quite the athlete, you must be very proud :D
Things are bright today :D I ended up not working out before bed yesterday because I ended up going dancing with my husband!!! :dancer: :dancer: I haven't done that in... well wow, at least five years. Not since we were dating. At first life was too hectic, then I had gained so much weight that I just didn't feel comfortable. I'm not close to the weight I was when we met, not yet, but I've been feeling sooo much better about myself that it really didn't matter. We certainly didn't dance the whole time, probably about 20 minutes out of the five or so hours we were there hehe, but I had a great time nonetheless. Course I woke up exhausted today and have to work 12 hours tonight!! Hopefully tonight after work I'll break in one of my new dvds, have to say though, I don't regret missing it last night because I had such a blast, hehehe.
We're still buried under so much snow it's incredible!! :snow4: Coming home from the bar last night we were sliding all over the road (and nope, Hubby hadn't had one drink so it wasn't that!) I don't know what our sum total is but in some places the snow shoveled off of driveways is almost as tall as I am, and that's pretty tall!!
Love and Losses to everyone!!! Hope you're all having a beautiful day :)
Hi everyone ... just a quick stop ..
RAYNE - there are a lot of us on here that use Fitday.com ... you can do it online .. or if you want you can buy the program and have it on your comp (which is what I have done in case I have trouble getting online lol). It keeps track of your calories (sometimes you do have to put in food items ... but after the first month or so you have most of the common foods you eat on there .. so adding the odd one or 3 new ones a week or day isnt so bad ... you may also want to double check the calories etc with the packaging cos some brands are different etc).. Good luck .. oh .. it also keeps track of your goals, moods, weight .. I know I have a hard time not using it .. I was going to try last week to have a week without using it to see how I did lol .. but instead I found myself each night adding in all my food just to see how well I was doing lol.
Great NSV for me .. yes the lass that said she wasnt going down in size although I have lost just over 20kg ... have gone down in real size!! I would usually only buy stretchy clothes .. esp pants .. so I never really knew what size I actually was lol .. even tho I was over the moon about fitting those XL tights I knew that it was a cheat achievement cos they stretched lol .. but yesterday when shopping for more clothes for my hunny I had to get a pair of black pants for work that had a pocket in them so I could put my keys in ..
We were walking past this shop I had been told had a great range of clothing sizes while on our way to the shop I had planned to buy something from .. so I said shall I try in here (to my hunny) .. so in I went .. the only pair of black pants I found didnt have elastic waist and werent stretch ones .. but they had pockets .. and they only went to a size 22 .. My old jeans that I wear (with elastic waist) were size 24/6 and were just comfy now .. so I thought oh crap .. wont fit .. but Scoot told me to try them on .. I NEVER try on clothes in a store lol . I prefer to take them home and if they dont fit I will take them back (in this case I would have kept it until they fit lol) .. so I grabbed them .. then he pointed out a neat pair of jeans with a little elastic at the top .. also size 22 ... so he grabbed those for me (he likes me in jeans lol) .. when we went up to the checkout there was a stand with some more jeans but in colours other than blue and I loved the brown ones .. only they had no elastic and only 3% elastine in the material so not very stretch .. but we got those too ..
Okee .. home we come .. the work pants fit .. a little snug when I crouch down so will have to be a little careful there lol .. but they fit ok .. so I tried on the blue jeans (with the elastic) and I JUST got them done up .. so I said to Scoot Im not even gonna try the brown ones .. they can be my Xmas treat and I will just hope to fit them for Xmas lol ... so I went round in my new blue jeans the rest of the day ...
Today when I went back done to the bedroom to get dressed .. as I was on my own .. I thought I would try on the brown ones to see how far off it would be til I could fit them ... AND THEY FIT ME!!! I didnt even have to breathe in much lol .. and I have been wearing them the rest of the day .. fortunately they are hipsters cos they are a little big round the waist and I hate having to pull pants up lol ... but as my hips are a lot bigger than my waist its good to have jeans that are supposed to sit there lol ..
So that was my NSV .. I am now a size 22 bottoms ... and another thing .. I now know why my new bra is a little tight ... its a size 20!! I thought it said 24! But it fits .. only tight .. sooo .. Im gonna pop that away (boo hoo) until it isnt so tight .. I have found an old bra that fits ok still ... so that will be my work on and the others I will wear around home lol .. So now bottoms have gone from 24/26 to 22 ... and top 26/28 to 24.
Congrats to those that have had a visit from the FFM .. huggies for those that are getting ignored by her at the moment .. dont give up!
Oh for those that have missed it .. I have popped up piccys of my dogs and lambs that we took last week :)pm)
And I start work on Tuesday at 1pm-3.30pm .. then Wed 11am-4pm .. then Thurs 10am to 3pm .. and then all day Saturday (8.30am to 5pm). And we measured it today ... work is 2.7km away from us (1.68 miles) .. so I will be walking just over 3 miles each day I work :) Glad the weather is getting better rofl... I have been wearing my new sneakers so that I dont get too many blisters ... which I get no matter how well fitted the shoes are lol .. my feet just dont like new shoes rofl.
Nightkatt - Awesome NSV!! I've finally been able to buy jeans at a store - I got the 22's zipped up fine at Reitman's...but I went back to check it out and they only have another style brand and I wasn't even close in them! Don't you hate that? But I'm comfy in my 24's right now...although they are sliding down all the time (so I'm around a size 22 I guess), yay, lol! :D Congrats again, you're doing so well! :)
Hello All,
I am happy to report that I am feeling a lot better today, mood wise that is. My back is still the same but I am hoping the pain killers will have a bit better of an effect today. I just want to thank all of you that helped me through my down time yesterday, especially last night after I ate what I shouldn’t have. It’s easy enough to say forgive myself and move on, but until I read all your messages of support I was saying it more than doing it. Well now it’s done and although I am not looking forward to weighing tomorrow I will just have to accept what I see and then move on, and hopefully downwards. I am not sure if I will be up to exercising tomorrow, but I might just try doing 2 lots of 15 minutes on the Gazelle, or heck even one lot if need be. I just have to get my exercise in some how. It feels like forever since I had a whole week of being able to work out, and I miss the routine.
Zelma - wow, I know you live in Australia but it’s still hard to believe you have never made a snow man :D Have you never been to the Snowy Mountains or anywhere like that where you could have made one? I used to live in the Blue Mountains in NSW and every winter we had a small amount of snow. Not enough to close schools or anything like it does over here, but enough to make at least a small snow man :lol: Actually people don’t believe me, but it’s true when I say that it actually snowed more regularly in the Mountains than it does in Swansea where I live now! Thanks for sharing those poems you found, they were a good read!
Patti - I have the same goal as you, to be really strict until Thanksgiving because although we don’t celebrate that here, this year the event is the same date as my anniversary. I am hoping the focusing on being good for such a short space of time will help it seem easier to stay on track. When Daren and I were in Vegas we stayed for a week and we actually flew home on the morning of Thanksgiving over there. I was really disappointed to be leaving that day because everywhere seemed to be doing a delicious Thanksgiving dinner and I really would have loved to have experienced one of them. Oh well, when I eventually have the finances to go back it will be for my anniversary so we can renew our vows, and I will make sure this time we stay for the holiday too.
Sue - ooooh is my romance radar in need of tweaking, or am I right in thinking that the friend you went for a meal with might be more than a friend? I am a hopeless romantic and I know men and women can be just friends, but he sounds like such good fun, it would be lovely if it turned out there was a love interest there :D
I am so thrilled that you love your Gazelle so much, I just knew you would. From the sounds of it you get to leave yours up too which means you can jump on it whenever you want to. I would love to be able to do that, but never mind, I will one day when the kids have grown up and left home I will make their room my exercise room/computer room :lol: I of course want to be at goal way before then, but I know I will still be exercising regularly just to keep maintaining my lovely new figure :lol:
Heather - are you really happy with the job you have, because if there is any unhappiness I would say QUIT. Don’t way to retire to become a weight loss counsellor because I don’t know how good you are at your current job, but you are FANTASTIC at the weight loss stuff. Only if and when you do decide to go for it, I hope we will still get our freebie advice from you here :lol: :D
Lori - I am glad you got to resize the photos and I loved getting a better look at them all. I still really love the relaxing photo. From the proposal to the wedding and the honeymoon it looks like you two had so much fun.
Thanks for the compliments on the change in me from my first photos I posted and the last :D I love the pic of me on the Gazelle because although I have no before pics of me on it, I actually barely fit on the thing. Now I don’t touch the sides of it anymore and seeing that photo and that I don’t look like I am about to break the machine makes me smile. As for you getting a Gazelle, I would love it if you did. I think I am going to make it my goal to encourage everybody I talk to on here to get one! Though I think I do that already :lol:
It’s amazing isn’t it how sometimes no matter what else we have to do, be it sleep, or do chores, sometimes it’s impossible to drag ourselves away from this site. Even when I am totally caught up with replies I sometimes send PMs, or just look at all the other stuff on the site. It’s very addictive but so much better an addiction than junk food :D and pigging out.
Missy - well done on having a really good OP day and getting in some more walking. I know I have said this before but I have to say it again, it still amazes me that you went from hardly being able to walk at all to now walking so much so often. I bet it feels like you have a life again now you aren’t restrained by painful walking :hug:
Ziggy - I am LOVING your avatar. I love Pogo too. Do you have a fave game? I have a few, but lately I am enjoying Jungle Gin a LOT.
Thanks so much for telling me how you met your hubby. I don’t know if it’s because we get to know our partners so well when we chat online first or what, but it really does seem that all of us that met our guys online have just known from the very start that we had found our soul mates. My family and friends all freaked out that I was even meeting Daren in person after only a month, and when they found out he was moving in with me 3 weeks later they all nearly had kittens! I assured them that I knew what I was doing, and over time we have proven to them that we were and are perfect for each other and that although it seemed like we were rushing into things, there was really no need to hang around. We wanted to be together forever from the minute we met. If he could have Daren never would have gone home from our fist meeting. But alas his job, and family had to be taken into consideration :lol:
Kymberly - thanks for hoping that I am feeling better soon, I am pleased to say that emotionally I am much better today, but not so pleased to say that my back hasn’t improved since yesterday. I thought totally resting it would have done it some good, but it hasn’t. I am missing my heat pad that I normally use when my back hurts. It died from overuse :lol: I had to order another one which I hope will be delivered on Monday EARLY. I think with a bit of heat therapy it will get better much quicker. I just have to be careful I don’t go nuts with the exercise then and end up back in bed!
I know a couple of people that suffer SAD. It’s a shame that they and you can’t afford to spend life in different parts of the world so that you never have to live through a winter. Imagine a life of just summer time, wouldn’t that be bliss. Well as long as it wasn’t all Aussie heat summers, that would kill me. I could cope with a summer full of days that got no hotter than 25 Celsius :D Times are definitely changing weather wise. I remember in Australia we would watch the weather report when I was a kid and my mum would say, ‘tomorrow’s going to be a scorcher’ and it would only be 20 Celsius. Now, she is still living over there but 20 C is actually a cold day now, and a scorcher is 40 C !! I couldn’t cope with that kind of heat :no:
I hope you are enjoying your day off .
Rayne - OUCH your poor dad, he has certainly had to suffer since that dreadful fall. I am so sorry :hug: It must be very difficult for all concerned knowing that he is in so much pain and that inevitably will end up in a wheel chair. I guess the one good thing is that he has time to adjust to the idea rather than if he had ended up in a chair immediately following the accident. I try to find the good in all situations, a regular Pollyanna, sorry :hug:
How did the work out at the gym go, I hope your fiancé isn’t as pushy as that boot camp style Biggest Loser fitness instructor! I definitely would chose the softer approach instructor if I could. They actually have a new gym over here that prides itself in it’s Army Boot Camp style approach to training. I think that might be fun for slim girls who are trying to stay that way, but not for girls our size who want to lose weight but not nearly die in the process :D
Katy - ooh cool, another lady here who met their hubby online. We definitely aren’t that unique a bunch are we. I bet there are loads of people right over the 3FC site who met their honey on line. In this day and age I think it’s getting more and more common and definitely more acceptable. I have no qualms about telling anybody and everybody how I met Daren. Of course our exes think we are sad Internet geeks for having to find love online, but look at how finding supposed love the ‘normal’ way with them worked out…..it didn’t. So they can both go jump :lol:
I love that your hubby took the plunge and just turned up, even if it did freak you out a bit, he didn’t end up being a psycho freak or anything and it seems you had a whirlwind meet, engagement and wedding too, just like me and Daren. Like I said in my post to Ziggy, no need to hang around when you just know you are soul mates and meant to be together forever :D You got married the November before I did, which date? Daren and I have our 4th anniversary on the 23rd .
That’s great that you went dancing with hubby, that beats staying home and exercising any day of the week :yes: I love that you felt confident enough to go dancing, it won’t be long before you are going out dancing but are fit enough to be actually dancing all night !! A few years after my divorce I went clubbing occasionally with a friend. I had no confidence at all and the only way I would get up to dance is if I had quite a few glasses of Dutch courage first. Then I didn’t care if people were looking at the ‘fat lady’ dance :D I used to think that people there would think I was just a sad fat desperate lady out on the pull. I would love to go back when I am at goal, with my gorgeous husband in tow and show off. But of course after so many years and looking so different nobody would remember me anyway lol. It’s a nice thought though!
Wow what job do you do, 12 hour shifts sounds like it’s a killer job. How do you cope? I hope you won’t suffer too much after having such a late night last night. How can you even think of working out to a new DVD when you get home after working for that long??
You sure are having a lot of snow, I only ever see that kind of snow in the movies, and I do remember one episode of Little House on the Prairie when they were snowed in some kind of hut because a blizzard caught them on their journey home. I don’t mind seeing that kind of snow on TV, I am not sure I would like having to live with it like you do. How do you manage?
Katt - what a fantastic NSV. You have officially gone down in clothes sizes, and it must be so thrilling to be in such small pants. I just don’t understand my body, I have lost 84 lbs and yet I still can’t fit in jeans that are smaller than a size 28. I do have stretchy pants that are size 24s, but until I get into non stretch ones that size I will always say I am a 28 on the bottom half and a 22 on the top. Though I do like a 24 top because I like them to be a bit baggy.
3 miles a day walking when you work, not to mention the walking you will be doing at work. I think you are going to find the lbs dropping off you and your thighs are going to be really toning up with that kind of walking. How great is that, extra money from the job, and getting so fit as well :cp: II hope you will really love your job.
Raven - :bravo: on the 3 lbs lost, that’s great news :dance: Great news too about the extra work your boss is going to offer you, shows what a good worker you are. I just hope you won’t be taking on too much, take care of yourself :hug:
Kayley - hope work goes well for you today. I used to have a job on a Sunday, but it was only a Sunday. Despite it being just one day’s work, I still hated having my weekend disrupted. Sundays are for relaxing and being lazy on :lol:
Brenda, Nancy, Jill, Lillion, Valerie, Sandy, Jen, Annie, Crock, Brandnewme, Nelie, Sandy, Kimberly, Kenya, Xena, JulleeC, Sharon, Cyrstal, and everybody else I haven't mentioned :wave: Hope you are having a good weekend
Ok that’s me caught up for 5 minutes anyway, think I might go do some game playing on Pogo now. Bye for now,
Hugs,
Ammi :grouphug:
Hi girls! My mom is in the hospital but I've been trying to peek in here to keep things cleaned up.
I did want to come in and put in a final pitch for the Christmas Card list. I promised it would go out tomorrow, but I think I'll make that LATE tomorrow or early Tuesday morning since there isn't much traffic here on the weekends.
If you would like to be added to the Christmas Card Exchange list, and haven't contacted me already, please PM me your information. I know some of you post on both this AND the 300+ thread so please let me know which list you want to be included in. I am not combining the lists for everyone.
If you have questions about how this works, please refer to the Christmas Card Exchange thread that is stickied towards the top of the main page.
Good Morning ladies:) Wanted to make a quick post before im off to church and hopefully shopping at Old Navy:) Today is an absolutely gorgeous sunny day, so great for my mood, i hope everyone else's day is good.
KATYDID: It sounds like you and your husband had a great time! I can relate to the statement you made that you feel people are always looking at you. i have this stupid little mental checklist before i go out, are my clothes ok, does my hair look good? etc,etc, i hate that about me, but it is just the way i am. i think i try to overcompensate because i am overweight. anyway, im so happy you had such a good time!As for the 12 hr shifts, i do them too, sometimes they are killer!
RAVEN: congrats on the weightloss! I am one of those super strange people that only weigh in like once a month! I gauge my sucess or lack of, lol, by the way my clothes are fitting . i used to weigh all the time and it drove me nuts! For me, this is the only way i can keep sane:)
KATT: Im happy you found some pants you like! Judging from how you and Ammi describe the clothing were the two of you live, i definetly think the clothes there are cut smaller! It has been my experience over the years that some sizes here have been made bigger (or so it seems) than in the past. It sad to me to realize that a size 12 is considered "plus". if thats the case i will always be "plus" as a size 12 sounds divine to me:) The pants sound nice!
VILLANDRA: Ditto the above i think the sizes were you live are cut smaller than here. Good job on the excersise:)
KAYLEY: Hope you and andrew are having a great weekend. If i get to go to Old Navy it will be a great one for me:) They have an awesome plus line available at some stores and online. The jeans especially are a must have!
AMMI: Glad to hear your spirits are better, now i hope your back will feel better too. As for the S.A.D. i havent been officially diagnosed, but every year in the fall and winter, i tend to feel depressed, lethargic, etc. I love the sun and hot weather, the thing is, the state i live in, usually has a mild climate, with very little if any snow. If i lived in some of the places i did as a child, where it snowed in buckets from Oct-April, i would go mad, lol! i definetly need my daily dose of sun:)
EVERYONE: For all those i didnt address, please forgive me. Really these threads are awesome, and it is so cool to see how many post each day. i will eventually know everyones name, i promise:) have a great day!
Well, thats all for now. I will see you all later, and again, have a lovely day!
Well just a quickie, I'm feeling better today, we all went for a walk to a large pond complex to feed the ducks/swans/geese & had a great time.
Thank you Sandy, I have to ring for an appt with the Dr. on Monday, when they will fit me in I don't know! I'm sorry about your blood probs. my dad was on Warfarin for years coz of clots, though they were on his lungs, so I understand how frustrated you must be. You want to exercise & get healthy but you're waiting for the meds/blood stuff to be sorted, you are doing so well considering all the obstacles you have. Great that you have such lovely family/friends to help you, my mum did the same thing with their car a few months back! She said the embarassment was the worst part!!!!!lolxxxxxx
Xena, sorry about the gain, I'm having to alter my ticker up too, we have to do this, WE DESERVE to be happy & healthy.xxxxx
I have to go & catch up on housework, BUT BIG THANKS TO EVERYONE for your support, it means SO MUCH TO ME.xxxxx
xxsharon
ps I know I've missed lots I should comment on but my mind is SO manky at the moment!
Thinthinker - what a pretty post. It made me feel all Christmasy :D
Sorry to hear that your mom is in hospital, I hope that she will be much better soon and back at home :hug:
Kymberly - that's funny how you mentioned about sizes and how a size 12 there is considered a 'plus' size. I was looking on eBay last night for a Superman cape for my hubby. Yes my hubby. He has a Superman t'shirt which he loves and I always joke that all he needs now is the cape. I am trying to find one as a joke Christmas gift. I found an Ebay shop that does all sorts of costumes. If only he was under 6 foot I could get him the whole costume :lol: But anyway they had a section for Plus size women. I have never been able to do the fancy dress thing because of my size, so I thought I just had to look at the stuff on offer on eBay. Of course Plus size to them was as you mentioned 12, and up to a 16. What do they consider size 28 to be then, mega huge plus size. It's so daft. Oh and I didn't find a cape for hubby either :(
I understand what you mean about not being diagnosed with SAD. I don't think it has to be officially diagnosed to know you have it or something very like it. I am glad today is a nice sunny one for you. It's actually sunny here too, so who knows, maybe that HAS got something to do with me feeling better today. Yesterday it rained on and off all day and was a miserable day.
Sharon - every time you mention all the lovely places you go walking I think I made a wrong move in letting Daren move here, perhaps I should have moved to him instead. He didn't live too far from where you are. Mind you I do love the Mumbles, so maybe it's good that I stayed here after all :lol:
I am glad you are having a better day today, it makes dieting so much easier when you are in a positive frame of mind. Yesterday I was on such a downer, it's no surprise that I gave in to eating over my points. I know I will be good today though because I am feeling much brighter :D
It's lunch time now, hubby is bringing me my WW pizza. He is a treasure letting me off all my chores so I can rest my back. Take care all and bye for now,
Hugs,
Ammi :grouphug:
Good morning, everyone! Hope you all have a super day!
I got up early this morning and jumped on the Gazelle. :yes: Wow... Ammi... this thing is GREAT! And I am encouraged as all the reviews I read said people could only it for 5-7 minutes at start. I am doing 15 easily and I could go the 30... just need to get some music set up in the living room, as my CD player there doesn't seem to be working. This is SUPER... LOL since I have to work out this is about the most FUN way to do it ever!
One thing I really like about it is that I am still too fat to run and haul my big boobs around! But on the Gazelle I can go super fast and it is like I am running! I haven't examined the different positions you can do on it yet but I will! It is tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cool! :lol3: I am so glad I bought this thing!
Oh... and 15 minutes of vigorous on this thing is 160 points toward my presidents challenge award! Yippee! Now I will be able to get my full 750 points every day!!!
Hi Everyone! I had a rough day yesterday, but I worked my way out of it, which was good. I uploaded the pictures of me in a bathing suit, and let’s just say I wasn’t quite ready for that. I think that as a natural defense mechanism I think of myself differently in my mind’s eye and the pictures were a bit of a shock. However, I pulled out some pictures from my last trip to the Bahamas two years ago and wow – what a difference. I really have come a long way, but sometimes it is so depressing how far I have left to go. I will still wear the bathing suit when we are there, and I will see if I can pull together the courage to post a pic, but don’t count on it. :)
I also had a really long talk with my step-mother about the stuff going on. I am having some relationship issues, which he doesn’t really know about because I haven’t been good about talking about things. I haven’t wanted to say much here since it is public and he could possibly read this, but I doubt he will. She really helped me to put things in perspective in how to go about talking to him about the things that bother me. We ended up talking for so long that I missed out on the gym, but I had a great evening and got so much done at home. My BF actually had to work all day so he was gone, and I did a lot of cleaning and organizing. I then curled up in bed with a book, which I find gives me the most restful sleep.
I have a lot of errands to do today, so I don’t have time for personals this morning. Hopefully I will have time tonight.
Heather
FutureDiva -- You know, it helps me to write these comments as much as it helps others to read them! I think 3fc keeps me on my toes. The more we make these statements the more we come to believe them for ourselves!
Rayne -- many people use fitday to track caloires. I use nutridiary -- which I really like, but I am concerned the site may not be around forever (seems to be absent management).
Katt -- Clothing NSVs are always fun! Congrats!!
I am not looking forward to weighing tomorrow I will just have to accept what I see and then move on, and hopefully downwards.
Ammi -- That's it! Keep that attitude in your mind! I'm gald you're feeling a little better!
As for my current job -- I love it!!! But it's good to hear you say I might be good at another job! Though I've been thinking about it, and I think the real counselor is this site -- the variety of views on 3fc and the support is just priceless! Sometimes I don't have the best thing to say, but someone else does!
Thinthinker -- My thoughts for you and your mom -- I hope she'll be okay :hug:
Nancy -- Boy I know whaty ou mean about coming so far and yet having so far to go. I think the most depressed I was about weight loss was after I'd lost 70-80 pounds and still looked fatterthan I thought I should and still fitting into plus sizes. I think it's important to do what you did and compare to where you HAVE been.
This journey is SOOO mental -- and we have to tweak ideas in our heads all the time or we will fail at this. Sounds like you have your head on straight.
Hope you work things out with your BF. I know what you mean about this being a public space. I have given out this site to other people and if they find me, I don't want too much of my personal stuff here...
