I'm doing a special trip to the grocery store tomorrow and am wondering what things could you not do without? (I'm heading accross the border to Washington) What brand of low-carb wrap? or pastas? On my list so far I have Knudsen's morning blend Juice... any hints are greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the ideas Ash and MiniMe.
The morningstar farm grillers - are they a beef patty substitute? like for hamburgers? and thanks for the name of the tortillas
I am making a list of different things I've seen on the posts that we can't get here in Canada. Any other foods that you couldn't do without on the LA plans?
Yes, the Morningstar Grillers are a meat substitute. The come packaged 4 in a box and they are probably only 2 oz each, but one pattie equals one protein. I typically cook all four and put them in a tupperware and eat them within a 4-5 day period. I really enjoy how they taste and some mornings, when I'm rushing and just want to grab something and go, these are perfect. I'm not the greatest cooker/shopper, so I hope others jump in.
Hi Makena - If you like breakfast:
Egg beaters
Eng. muffins
I Can't Believe It's Not Butter spray
Frozen fruit (with no sugar added!)
Steel cut oats
Lunch:
tuna
RF Mayo
Splenda Relish
ground turkey
chicken breast
Mrs. Dash (either dry spices or liquid marinade)
frozen veggies
wheat thins
tilapia filets
RICE CAKES
RF peanut butter
salad mix, salad mix, salad mix!!!
Lemons for lemon water
Okay, that's all for now... we eat mostly chicken and tuna, tilapia and other fish. Frozen veggies if I can't find fresh, lots of apples, frozen fruit.
Remember, you want variety so your body doesn't know what to expect! AND you want to eat the things that are not going to be harder to "get rid of"...
Hope that helps. I don't want to overwhelm you!!!

Yes, I've learned the hard way. I really seem to want the same things day in and day out. Like breakfast - the only thing I seem to want is frozen fruit with yogurt. I'm always wanting to save my starch for lunch and supper. When I had a few days of no scale movement, my counsellor said I really need to try and mix up my food...I guess I'm a creature of habit - I never realized that about myself before.
APPLES APPLES APPLES! I eat at least 3 a day... curbs my hunger and taste great! i add pb to them when i want a treat
fat-free yogurt
my protein powder mixed with ff milk and frozen fruit
if it was just me in the house i would live off of these items!!
As different kinds of fresh vegies and fruits as you love. Buy things you love to eat. I spend WAY too much money of strawberries every week, because I LOVE them It feels like dessert to me!!! That is the one part of the grocery store I always splurge on. It's still cheaper than candy
Western Bagel makes Alternative Bagels which are 1S for the whole bagel.
The veggie sausage patties are actually 1/2P on purple and red plans (sorry Joni) and you can have 2 links of the same brand of veggie sausage for 1/2 P.
This is great! Great to see what people all buy and eat. I'm an extremly boring person. I eat bout the same things day in and day out. Yoplait for breakfast. Lean Cuisine for lunch (thought since Pearl once said: Lean Cuisine should be limited to 2-3 timer a week, I've been eating less of them), then for dinner I get a protein (like, chicken and turkey), veg and a starch. I like triscuits. I like to save a starch for dinner then forget to eat it, that's when the triscuits come in handy. The last Counselor told me to that I need to have a variety of food. So now, I am trying to buy different stuff, not ONLY green beans, lettus and such. But that also the hard part. What else is there?
Also-the veggie burgers are 2 patties = 1 protein on some plans. Check your book-don't want to short yourself!
Nancy-there are awesome frozen veggie mixes that come in bags that you just throw in the microwave. Lots of different mixes of veggies. Also-try stir frys-really quick and easy.
Thanks JM - That sounds easy enough, I'll check out the frozen aisle on my next trip. I usually go straignt to Lean Cuisine, maybe I should look around more. DH always rushes me, what does he expect? when we get groceries once every two weeks? I gotta make sure I get enough green beans, and fruits and such... thanks again
One thing I really enjoy on a daily basis is Sugar Free Jello. I always have this stocked in my fridge.
Other things on my list include...
Apples
Yogurt
Bagged Romaine lettuce
Lean Cousines
English muffins
Light bread
Chicken breast
Frozen sugar snap peas, asaragus, and couliflower.
RF Peanut butter
eggs (and I will be trying the morning star sausage) I have been craving sausage badly, but didn't think I could have any. So thanks for that add.
