I've lost over 100 lbs and I have PCOS. One key is using BCP to help regulate my hormones as well as watching what I eat, limiting food high in starch/sugars and regular exercise. It also helped to set goals.
I lost 70 lbs in about 4 months. I then fluctuated within a 10 lb range for 18 months. I then started losing again by refocusing my efforts and lost 35 lbs or so in the past 4 months. Although my renewed efforts started around February of this year but I didn't lose a single lb until May. Since the end of May, I did lose 35 lbs.
I have PCOS and take 850 mg. twice a day of Metformin. I have lost a total of 94 lbs. and weigh less than my goal wt. I did it using the Atkins plan and walking for exercise. I tweaked my plan to include some extra whole grains, Oats and plenty of fresh fruits.
I totally need thesse stories right now! Thanks! I've just officially lost 20 pounds, which is great, but that's the max I've ever lost. I've never made it past that that hump but I think I can this time!
Thanks again girls....
I have pcos and lost 100 pounds a while back. I have recently lose 35 pounds, so yes, it can be done. Do i think we have to work a little bit harder and maybe eat a little less? Yes. but its worth it...i dont want to end up with full blown diabetes, high blood pressure, and all the stuff that comes with being over weight. So i just work harder and go on about my business. You can do it. No secrets unfortunately...eat less, move more, but if i did have one secret, it would be cut your carbs and if you are going to eat carbs, eat it with a protien ALWAYS.

Stacy, I agree there really is no secret but I too worry about the effects of being overweight. I just had my most recent diabetes check and I was so glad that for now I am in no danger of being diabetic. I did just find out that I have osteoarthritis of my left knee though which was really a blow to me. Being overweight for so long has taken its toll on my knee and the pain is something I need to work through.

I was diagnosed with PCOS three years ago, and I topped the scales at 265 lbs, then October 2005 I finally got sick and tired of being so overweight and out of shape so I started eating less and eating *healthier*, as well as walking and doing tae bo which helped me get down to 225 in only two months, then I started taking metformin in January of this year, which helped me lose more weight (20lbs), despite being too sick to exercise. The met made my tummy very ill for the first month, which threw me out of my exercise routine and which I have yet to resume unfortunetly lol. But even so, I still try my best to eat healthy and with a combination of that and the met, I've still managed to maintain my weight at about 200lbs for the past 9 months. I really do need to start exercising again though, as I would love to get down to 150lbs eventually; which I know I can do dagnammit!
